Yeosang and Jongho singing together is my new obsession. They sound so good! Yeosang compliments and elevates Jongho's bombastic vocals higher than I thought was possible. I hope to find more in their earlier and future releases!

whoever requested that follow up has my eternal gratefulness! I'm OBSESSED WITH DUNE especially Yeosang's vocals it scratches a very specific part of my brain and i ascend into a higher dimension every time i hear it (fun fact: Hongjoong said that Eden wrote that partspecifically keeping Yeosang in mind and we all cheered)!!! and I'm so glad he did. anyways now lemme finish your video lol.

ookaay i finshed watching your video and omg I have sooo many thoughts.
yes! he has started to put a lot of punch to his vocals during live stages recently and my heart just bursts with joy and makes me wanna root for him even more. He legit k worded me in the outlaw showcase. if you compare him to their very first tour to their most recent one as well, you will find soooo much improvement like I'm amazed!
I agree with you when you say that Dune is literal perfection, not just for embracing Yeosang's deeper voice fully but also how it goes so well with the lyrics of the song/the concept. It's not there as a gimmick, it's there because it fits. ''it feels like a religious experience'' basically sums up Dune.
The DANCE BREAK yesss!! probably my top fav DBs right after his DB in Inception. I'm glad that you talked about they started the bridge with him like it sounds so interesting.
Wait people think it's Seonghwa??? The lisp at the end of Dangerous in Django. IT IS YEOSANG. I did register someone doing the backing vocals in Wake Up on a deeper scale but idk why I just assumed it was Yunho (maybe because he does a lot of backing vocals for ATEEZ in general) omg but I didn't know it was THAT low though. That is actually INSANE. I think I just got goosebumps.
And here's me begging for more ATEEZ vocal analyses like these in the future (take your time, but I hope you consider doing one for each of them) because I really love listening to you talk about the ins and outs of their vocals and music. Looking forward to the Wooyoung video. (umm I hope you touch on his gritty/rough tone that he does sometimes like in good lil boy as well) I had so much fun watching this! thank you for showing love to our yeo

Oh honey Dune isn’t just a religious experience I’m pretty sure it’s religious in nature. The choir? The pipe organ? The catholic in me was absolutely losing her mind the first time hearing it. I wanna do a video on their religious imagery, I’m so fascinated by it ✋😩

First they hit us with HALAZIA and then Dune and I would even add Wake Up. Dune is so dark and it’s like they’re summoning the demons out of you. Ugh it’s so good. It’s a niche I didn’t know I needed until they gave it to us.

THANK YOU. There was Reddit discourse over the use of religious imagery in halazia and some atinys were trying to defend the boys by saying it wasn’t actually religious imagery and I was like…no, no that’s very clearly a version of the sign of the cross lol. As an ex Catholic I personally enjoyed it lmao

@@peonylarkspur645 I mean as a devout catholic I’m very hyper aware of this stuff and am not afraid to critique if I see religion being used mockingly (especially when non Judeo-Christian religions are often heavily protected while mine if outwardly mocked), but I have yet to find Ateez using religion inappropriately. Alternatively, while I adore Oneus, they did use actual religious symbols in their vampire-based MV from a few years back which I wasn’t a huge fan of mostly because of how they used what appeared to be a monstrance (which we use in adoration to put the Eucharist in, you know literally the body of Christ) and it wasn’t really meant for anything other than “aesthetic” and they also had a crown of thorns and I was like “mmmmm….I really like you guys but I’m kinda side-eyeing your production team on this one.” Still like Oneus, I don’t think they or their company were doing anything intentional.
I immediately noticed the Halazia move tho. They SAID it’s meant to be a number 4 and I kinda see it but I’m sorry they can’t convince me that wasn’t the sign of the cross, because again. I’m catholic, I know catholic imagery. Seonghwa with his arms out as if crucified, also during his part of the chorus when he has his hand pointed upward being VERY similar to a catholic benediction.
Edit: came back to add that Silver Light is ALSO very religious. The silver light, flying toward the heavens and looking for paradise? Like come on. I know they’re pirates and it might be another Peter Pan reference but silver light is a very religious song in some aspects.

  • @ironducks

No, I agree that it's Yeosang at the beginning of Django. I also thought it was him to start with and then I got confused when everyone said it was Seonghwa and maybe I was just less good at recognising their voices than I thought? But, no, vindication! Or at least another vote! Side note but also just skipping to a different point in the video note? But in Bouncy, Yeosang's bridge opening literally slows down the song before the chorus makes it bouncy again. And in Dune, his part is literally just an application to become a cult leader and there was NO opposition. Actually, the threatening vibe of his line at the end of Django and in Outlaw makes me think of how I described getting to like Ateez right when I first found them, which was that you're essentially threatened into liking them. You simply must. They're SO intense and it works SO WELL.
Regarding Wooyoung, I said this on the first Yeosang video (but late, way after it was posted) that Wooyoung's voice in the opening lines of HALA HALA was the first time I actually understood what novels meant by phrases like 'a voice clear as a bell'. His tone in general is very clear, but it really stands out in those first lines and the level of clarity and almost echoey? quality in his voice is so beautiful and honestly feels very rare. It sounds like his voice chimes.

I reacted about the same as you did when I finally heard Yeosang's vocals in Wake Up. Because really, what can you do besides jump out of your chair in excitement when you hear that? His voice never ceases to amaze me, and i absolutely love how they're leaning into it now more than ever. That feathery quality on his lower notes especially-I feel like it resonates in my soul. It reminds me of when I first heard Patrick Page's voice in Hadestown…damnit, now I'm just thinking about how to possibly get Yeosang (and Jongho) to do a cover of Hey, Little Songbird…seriously, if any voice could get me to sell my soul, it would undoubtedly be Yeosang's. His Halazia part was genuinely the gateway drug to stanning them. I think I've listened to those two seconds more than any other title, and that includes my beloved that is Odd Eye.
I agree with you on the general feel of the comeback-I get the point of the autotune, but man do I hope they keep letting their vocal tones shine naturally (or, well, as natural as it gets in kpop). I heard some very vague rumors of rock at least at some point, if not the next comeback, and I can only imagine how glorious their raw voices could be…
Very excited for Wooyoung's part, because of all of the vocalists, his is the one I always have the hardest time identifying-it might be partly due to his lines, but he always seems to blend into the other voices for me. I'm very curious to learn what makes him stand out~

Only after it beeing brought up here did i second guess myself, but after listening to it on my phone with my noise cancelling earbuds I'm back to being sure it is Yeosang. I think the quality of the source and speakers/earbuds you are listening with is playing a big part in peoples confusion here, because testing with different sources and my good earbuds vs crappy speakers it defenitly is much easier to pick out that it is Yeosang with a good source and good earbuds.

I love the fact that we get to hear him more in this album. He has such amazing vocals (I believe the description I saw was warm melty honey and they’re not wrong). I feel like this album showcased all their vocals really well for the first time. The lyrics seemed really balanced. I guess he said early on he wasn’t that confident in his voice so he didn’t want a lot of parts, but I feel like he as whole has grown exponentially over the last few years. Even his dancing and stage presence seems stronger. I feel like while KQ is not a perfect company, they are investing in helping their artists improve all around and I think it’s visible. We all said something changed with the first World EP how they just elevated. I’m glad all their hard work is finally paying off. I’m not too much of an autotune fan either, but I understand it for stylistic choice. It does make it a lot harder to understand who’s singing though.

Also like i have a feeling Yeosang is gonna be amazing in Arriba considering how low sounding the preview is. Also also Emergency Yeosang is gonna be so fucking cool!!!! like idk how little lines that man gets in that song he is going to eat it up no matter what .

i love ur videos on yeosang so so much i love hearing these analyses and i could only hope that when you do wooyoung and san's videos you mention their last parts in dune bc hearing them like that made me go mad (at least i think that's them doing those last two high notes)

Ive seen so many vocal reaction and analysis videos of Ateez, but i feel like yours are just so much more methodical and in depth. I really like how you put together examples and explain how every members' voice works!
Request: if you dont mind, can you do Wooyoung or San next? I feel like Wooyoung is more known for his dancing, so im curious what u think of his voice. And then San is...well San 😂 his voice is kind of a treasure trove 😂

I'm so glad you made this video I love Yeosang's voice. I was hoping they would use his vocals. I love those deepnotes, especially that f2 you pointed out. He has so many good vocals on Outlaw. I am glad you pointed them out. Especially the background, I had to listen again. I was so glad I did! OMG I love his deep vocals in Halazia, that just hits a plce down in your soul. I hope they continue to use his vocals more. More deep notes please?😊

4:47 That's the picture I always use when I show people Dune. 9:40 in the live Seonghwa does "Calling me" and then it is Yeosang. So yeah, that's right

i really enjoy your videos. i'm very interested in music and vocal analysis, so to hear you break down yeosang really got me to notice more characteristics from him singing and the other members. and i was just really excited when i saw that this video released

I loved this video!! I’m so so excited for Wooyoung. I think his vocals are CRIMINALLY underrated and overlooked. I think he has so much potential. Like this album he really popped off, and I loved when he used power and diaphragm ig. He’s surprised me a couple times on regular vids like logbooks, etc, when he just bursts into song. I think kq and Eden are really not using his voice as much as they should be. I think he can be on the same power level as San imo. Maybe that also has smth to do with his self confidence I’m not sure, but I KNOW he can do so much more than what is being presented

It took me a while to like Bouncy as well because their b-sides are just that good. Dune is my favorite from Outlaw partly due to Yeosang’s/Yunho’s prechorus(?). And the rest due to Wooyoung’s/Yunho’s bridge. It’s an almost seamless transition between their voices, except for that beat between the voices.

As a yeosang Stan, I can assure you after 4 years of trying to find his lines (a very challenging job bcs my man had 5 secs in a song at most) the first part of Django is his (95% sure 5% gaslighting myself) bcs seonghwa's voice is just isn't like that. Idk any of the music terms but I definitely have the experience of trying to find my man almost non-existing line to the point that I had icks for some ateez songs. Sorry not sorry (not an akgae tho, I'm just not into how they use yeosang voice back then)
