    I’m a nurse and I often hear patients complaining about how expensive Wegovy and Ozempic are. In addition to being expensive sometimes they’re hard to obtain and there are potential bad side effects as well. Using healthy foods as your medicine seems like a much better alternative. 🍏🥒💚

      I have heard that the bioavailability of chia seeds is greatly enhanced by grinding them first.
      This meal is not low calorie to me - it has about 500 calories in it, but it does have 12 gm protein, 19 gm fat and 20 gm of fiber. I cannot eat a 500 calorie cold meal in the morning or at any other time. Plus I need oat bran for cholesterol control too. I might switch from flax seed to chia seeds in my morning oats or add it to my regular smoothie instead though and see if it helps with weight loss. My largest meal is usually lunch these days but none of my meals reach 500 calories. With IBS and microscopic colitis I can’t eat that much at one sitting.

    I’m embarrassed to say I took Ozempic to lose 10 pounds on the suggestion of my naturopathic doctor. I track my health with an Oura ring. A few days after my first weeks injection, my resting heart rate increased from 43 to 49 beats per minute and my Heart Rate Variability, a marker of good health, became almost unmeasurable. I continued taking Ozempic for 3 more weeks to see if things improved but nothing changed. I have not lost a pound but I do feel tired all the time. Needless to say, I’m not renewing my scrip for another month at the higher dose. I’m praying my heart rate and HRV revert back to what they were before I so cavalierly took my naturopaths suggestion

    I stumbled upon the wonders of Chia seeds because I'm am... or was a rice pudding addict, but I was trying to shift my eating habits to healthier alternatives so I could get back in shape.
    I started making a rice pudding substitute with Chia Seeds, oat or soy milk, cinnamon and vanilla, and a teaspoon of sugar. It tastes great I don't even miss the pudding lol. Took the recipe straight from first page of google, and have been eating one serving every morning with breakfast.
    I definitely notice I don't get hungry throughout the day at work and am able to subsist on water or a plain coffee until I get home. This is great because work was my primary pitfall as there's a lot of unhealthy food options in and around it, and I found myself eating something really high calorie for lunch nearly every day.
    Now, I have my eggs and chia pudding in the am, then come home and eat something healthy that I have prepared at home. Weight loss is slow because I am also taking protein and hitting the weights in the gym, but I've definitely gone down a pant size since I started having only lost 5 lbs :)

    Great video, I see where you're going with it. My issue though, you mention to have this as an appetizer....this is 380 calories using the oat milk (I would use the 30 calorie almond milk). I eat about 400 calories per meal when trying to lose weight. So, this would actually be my meal. Is it a good meal replacement? Would I be hungry in 2 hours? And is that a special blender or just a normal blender? Thanks!! I love chia pudding, but I usually make it with yogurt or in my overnight oats. One more question, does it keep? So I could eat half before breakfast, and half before dinner? Or would it get funky just sitting in the fridge for hours? Thank you!!!

    • @drjoetvMD
      @drjoetvMD  Год назад +31

      You should be able to split it up if it's too much for you. Have the rest later in the day. Store it in a refrigerator and eat within 12 hours. All blenders aren't created equal. I mean, you can change diet to lose wieght. Duh. But people using semaglutides for weight loss have mostly tried that. Semaglutides turn off the constant hunger noise so you eat less. And for diabetics they also control blood glucose sensitivity and resistance. You can eat this smoothie in this video, but if you go eat a hamburger later on, you are not going to lose weight. Semaglutides keep you from eating that hamburger lately. Also, most side effects are due to doctors prescribing high doses right out of the gate versus starting on the lowest dose and going up gradually.
