    I would stick to one teaspoon a day. Not tablespoons. I've always soaked the chia seeds overnight in milk. Just keep it moderate. 😊

    Very informative. I've been consuming chia seed for a year now 1 Tbl spoon with my smoothie. My friend told me to overnight the seeds with my homemade almond milk that it's better. So that's I've been using.
    I feel great my A1C is 5.9 from 7 it was before. Appreciate your hard work and dedication

      I use 1 tablespoon and I leave it overnight and take it in the morning before breakfast with water. I had a bad experience the first time I tried it. I think I took too much. I felt nauseous and threw up everything I had that day.

    Thanks Dr. Joe, I heard about the unfortunate Chia seeds problem with that man in the news. I blend my Chia Seeds with water of course before I drink it, or I grind it in the coffee grinder, and add liquid, and then I wait for about 10 minutes before eating it thick, or drinking it, so I don't need to wait a whole hour.

      @@Zekeratt The video isn't saying don't eat chia seeds. It is simply highlighting what could go wrong if you use chia seeds inappropriately and I have given you precautions in the last half of the video on what to do. Simply follow those steps and you can enjoy your chia seeds safely

      I think we should be careful when consuming any kind of seeds. If there are little pockets inside intestines then it could accumulate and cause problems. Blending it would make sense and always start small like dr. Joe says. Too much of anything isn’t good. Eat variety, eat small, drink enough water and move - that’s my motto.

    I mill them, one teaspoon of organic chia and one teaspoon of organic flax seeds, mix them with water and place in the fridge overnight. I then add it to my organic natural kefir yogurt in the morning with the following organic nuts and seeds: hemp, pumpkin, walnut, brazil, pecan, ground almonds. I also drink plenty of water during the day

      @@ginalee7704 I’ve no idea, but I feel great, lots of energy (I’m 60), I walk every day. I do have a blood test on 6th June. The last one I had was fine. I’m on an OMAD diet, no processed food, grass fed beef steak, pilchards (sardines), raw unpasteurised caraway seed sauerkraut, beatroot, broccoli,leafy greens (kale, etc), raw red onions, garlic, ginger, fennel seeds, cloves, goats/sheep cheeses (no carb ones), turmeric milk with goats milk, good quality EVOO, free range eggs. I also have a teaspoon of organic Ceylon cinnamon and a teaspoon of organic 100% Peruvian cacoa powder in the kefir yogurt (with those nuts and seeds I mentioned above). I also take a vit d3 with k2-mk7, camu camu (natural vit c), and lions mane in the morning with the food and magnesium citrate/bisglycinate, zinc citrate and super strength omega 3 a few hrs before bed. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink. I drink nettle tea, ginger tea, carbonated lemon water with a capful of organic apple cider vinegar with every pint (overall, about 2-2.5 litres of water a day + the teas), so plenty of fluids. Does that sound ok to you?

    I make a chia seed pudding with fermented coconut yogurt and add berries and bananas. I top it off with some organic sprouted walnuts!❤ I also make it at night so I can have it in the morning…

    Thanks for the information Dr. Joe. I was eating chia seeds in my oatmeal every morning. Few weeks after, i experienced the worst abdominal pain with gas. I couldnt lift my leg to the waist. I went to the urgent care and they did x-ray. They said i had gaseous distention with some hip problem. This abdominal pain continued for weeks . It isnt too painful now but my esophagus hurts when i swallow sometimes. I stopped using the chia aeeds because i thought that is what caused the problem. Very enlightening. Thanks for the information.😢

    1.I take chia soaked more than 2 hrs.
    2.Drink plenty of water thoroughout the day.
    3. Great improvement in my LIPID profile

    Thank you so much for this video I'm having this problem right now I went to the hospital and the doctor said I have a mass in my stomach. I really believe it's the chia seed stuck into my intestines cause I been eating chia seeds every day and I don't soak it long enough and I am very constipated.     thanks for sharing, I just purchased Chia seeds, but I never eat them alone..I put them in my smoothies and with my yogurt. i will soak them going forward. then add them into smoothies

    Hi Dr. Joe, this happened to me. I was taking 2 tablespoons of chili and I do drink a lot of water but I guess it’s not enough and I didn’t end up in the hospital, but I got really sick on the flight and I realized the only thing I was doing was Jessie and, I’ll be constipated for a minute but what I did I kinda use aloe vera stuff to clean my colon but this was good information and I did mention it to my doctor but she didn’t say anything. Thanks. Great information.

    Thanks Dr. Joe! Amazing, seems like many of the healthy foods come with some nasty side effects(beets, spinach, eggs, chia seeds). No wonder my doctor tells me just take the pill and eat what you want. I think I will just avoid chia seeds. It's not worth the risk. I have also been feeding them dry to my pet bird. He is a small parrotlet. He loves them No more for him either. I look forward to your next video!

      It's my job to let you know about significant side effects of foods we eat to keep you safe. I'm not sure I agree with your doctor though. "Just take the pills and eat what you want" he said. Hmm, Big Pharma pills are not side effect-free. Pull out any drug leaflet and read the list of side effects. It's as long as my arm

      Don’t avoid them eat them correctly. I have been consuming them since 2019 and they are in normal rotation daily.

    Thank u for this important information. I soak a tbs of chia seeds in a glass of water for 20 minutes and when its all swollen up with the water, i drink it all down. This helps me move my bowels smoothly everytime.

    I noticed that taking only ONE tablespoon of Chia seeds was more effective than taking more. As the saying goes; "less is better".
    Also, I'd usually only let the seeds soak in a glass of water for 30- 40 minutes before drinking. In the future, I'll be sure I let it sit in water for at least an hour before consuming.

    Hi Joe. Thank you for the valuable information. I like to chia seeds, but my consumption is 1 to 2 tablespoons a week in smoothies. My fluid intake is about 2 L H2O per day in addition to other fluid during my meals.

    I believe when I began consuming them they cleaned my system of fecal matter. Because when I did my detox the first stages that cleaned my digestive system didn’t happen. It went straight liquid and my system was already clean.

    I stopped using chia seeds three years ago. They did absolutely nothing in terms of satiation, they made me gag because of the gel like consistency, I can't do much of any milk of any kind especially cow and nut milks, and it took way too much time waiting for the chia seeds to be ready to eat safely. Thank you for the info but I left chia seeds and smoothies alone years ago.

      Try a smaller amount like I said in the video and make a pudding with it. Don't eat it on it's own

    Thanks for making us award.Dr Joe. I always blend chia and flax which minimize that problem. I know water is necessary for digestion. I have always been wondering.how much is enough as I don’t necessary drink gallons, but is guided by the colour of my urine. Is that wrong?

      I like the urine guide. Indeed I did a video on it some years ago but when it comes to chia seed, drink plenty of fluid anytime you use them. They are very thirsty

      You could but I'll suggest you include it as one of the wet ingredients instead of dry. So use the soaked chia seeds in the recipe if that makes sense

      I use chia seed when baking muffins. I blend with milk and mix in with the rest of the wet muffin mix. Comes out great. I also drink lots of water as I consume lots of fibre.

    I appreciate your honesty as always. You always give it to us as it is.
    I started consuming chia seed after you introduced us to it on this channel.
    I soak 2 tablespoon in almond milk overnight and I add some nuts and then consume it because I like some crunchy texture.
    I chew the nuts with the seeds.
    Please let me know if I need to blend it even after soaking overnight.

      No, Tracy, what you are doing is fine. So long as you are soaking them long enough before consuming them, we're good. You may blend them if you want to but blending is not mandatory

      Every time you use chia seeds, yes, but it is good practice to drink about 3L minimum of fluid a day anyway. We tend to underhydrate ourselves a lot. In summer, drink plenty

    I blend my chia seed. Soak one spoonful of grinded chia seeds in water for 20 minutes plus before drinking.

    I know someone who got excited with flax seed and consumed it like crazy, the flaxseed formed a brick in her intestines, she ended up in the hospital, the brick was removed. She is fine now.

      Yes, easy mistake to make. These seeds are good for you but you have to eat them right, so you don't get hurt

    Uh-oh! I sprinkle about a teaspoon of dry chia seeds when I make scrambled eggs with cheese for breakfast multiple times a week. Luckily I haven’t had any problems! I guess I will soak them first now!

    It should be soaked blended and added to whatever foods you wish. BUT you MUST drink water through the day.
    No more than 2 tablespoons per day. Water makes it expands but also lubricates the intestines so, it can pass through the body uninhibited.
    Drink water.

    Most people grind them and sprinkle them on things. I sprinkle ground chia seeds on my salad. Never had a problem with them.

    Who in their right mind would eat a whole bag of chia seeds in one setting. One tablespoon of ground chia seeds in a 1 quart smoothie!😳😳😳

      People get excited about foods especially when they know it has health benefits. So even 7 tbs can get you into trouble when consumed dry

    I take chia seeds 2 tbsp daily with tumeric powder, black pepper, and ceylom cinnamon. I do take a break ever so often and go back..I'm waiting to have lab work done to see if chia along with my other remedies have worked to lower by cholesterol without the use of pharmaceuticals

      Be sure to look at your potassium levels as well. They may increase K (potassium) especially if you eat avocado, green veggies/leafy greens and nuts.

    I once had a bezoar from consuming a lot of whey powder without drinking enough water. Luckily, I managed- after gargantuan effort- to push it out after using stool softeners, walking, massage, and a LOT of water. LOL, it made a clunking noise when it hit the bottom the toilet!

      They are good for your prostate in so far as the fact that they are plants and eating more plants is generally good for your prostate health

      They can, for instance blending them up and add them to something you are baking or adding them to a porridge. Not something I have done but you may do that

    I eat them dry, 1 tablespoon on an empty stomach. I never experience issues. They help me with constipation. I struggle to drink them when they are mixed with water, too slimy.

      You are taking a risk there. The only reason you are getting away with eating them dry is because you are not eating a lot. Please soak them before use. Mitigate any risk

      Eat with yogurt. Mix, let sit in frig, then eat yogurt and drink a full glass of water with it.

    Chai seed is the only thing in the world I’m allergic to. The first time I ate it I noticed I started feeling nauseous losing my breath and feeling dizzy. I tried it several times and I noticed the same symptoms so I stopped eating it .

    I noticed that any time I take chia seeds, I get pebble like stool and apple cider vinegar too does the thing to me so I don’t take them often, and I do soak it overnight but I don’t why it does that,thanks for the tip on this

      You need to drink more, Emma. You are not drinking enough. Chia seeds are a thirsty bunch. Very thirsty

      Oh No. That's not the idea behind the video at all. Chia seeds are good for you but follow the precautions I outlined in the video and you will be fine. Using it the way you have described is not a great idea unless you are pre-soaking them

      Oh, probably not. That would be a bad combo. If you do eat it though, I wouldn't recommend more than 1 or 2 tbs
