Hey guys I recorded going to the dump and dumping the shingles but the file got corrupted and I wasn’t able to add it to the video 😢
What the duce bro 🤣
I love those old Compound gear 4 speeds.
@@unclequack5445 yes sir👍
I can honestly say I’m not an automotive DIYer and I’ve never seen this type of tear down. But it still keeps me intrigued
I am just so surprised to find this gem of a you tube channel. Must be my lucky day. Everything about it is really incredible.
Best of all, no lecturing, clean close in video, really interesting subject covered in 3 videos. Very very rare. Keep it up amigo.
what a awesome comment!!! that really means a lot to me and keeps me going especially when I just want to give up, thank you my friend!!
Wow, a lot of damage in that diff, great fix though, always good to see old girls put back on the road. Great skills again Darrell
Glad you enjoyed it, it was the worst diff I’ve ever fixed lol!! thanks for watching!!
Clem! give me that hammer! Great job getting this poor truck a new life😊
Great job Darrel, looks like you did a expert job on that diff. Glad that truck found you as its new owner you do amazing work. Take care buddy!

Hope your health is all good now. Keep up the great work. I like your process. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks man I really appreciate that, im a lot better but still not perfect
Darrel great job on that trashed diff, definitely not an easy job, what i enjoy most is your diversification in videos, everything from boats, skid steers, tractors, you have a fantastic mind for a man your age, thank u
Thank u very much Rick 🙂🙂
We will wait, take care of your self , thanks for the video
thank you very much Rick I’ve been trying my best to make vids but some days are pretty tough
Hey friend, after you fixed your tire and you put the camera under the rear I saw that your right rear shock wasn't even connected to the wheels. After all the work I doubt it even matters. Yes my heart really hurts too friend, it's broken because my best friend died. He was my rottweiler pup and my heart is truly broken. Yes it's been 10 days and I am still crying. Hey man I'm 77 and you should see the best specialists because I pray for you that you get better.
Yea the shock was broken so I got a new one. I’m so sorry to hear about your dog😔 I couldn’t even imagine if I lost my two dogs rite now, I love them so much and it hurts to know that I know one day that day will come. I just hope they aren’t in pain when they go. It’s hard to get over loosing a pet I’ve lost 2 and I don’t think you ever get over it. Just think about the good life you gave him and how much he loved you
Well done and thank you for sharing this series, Mark from Australia! 🙂👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
A great truck for the price! nice work on the rear end.
thank you bill
I do pack them with grease on the ford transit then oi fill up with oil it will melt it in think they run a bit dry when u start to move her first time but u made a good job corn flake box for gaskets make ya own

Super enjoyable to watch brother. Great job. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Get well bro.. we will wait
thank u very much 🙂
Awesome 👌 very good job congratulations
Thanks a lot 😊 I really appreciate it my friend!!
Hope you feel better soon
Thanks brother
Great video.
You don’t owe us anything.
Take care of yourself. Don’t mess with your heart.
I suffer with Congestive Heart Failure. Some days are good , some days not so much.
thank you so much! that’s exactly how I feel some days are good and others are horrible. what are some of your symptoms? and what did the doctor do to diagnose you?
@@TheHomePros6221
The first diagnosis was an echo cardiogram.
I was short of breath after any physical activity.
The Dr. ran a bunch of tests on my lungs first because I was a volunteer firefighter and also in and out of many industrial settings.
When I finally had the echo he called and said to have someone drive me to hospital.
My heart was only working at 40%.
oh wow!! dang that sucks! I’ve been getting severe headaches , chronic chest pain, numbness and pain in left arm, ringing/heartbeat in ears… ect it’s completely changed/ruined my life ☹️ I’d do anything to be well again. thanks for the support my friend!!
Wow , another great job, thank you for sharing, I learn a lot, great teacher 👍👍👍👍
New Subscriber from England, Great channel.
Thank u so much my friend!!
I had an 88 dump Chevy 12' bed. Rear end sounded like you were hitting it with a sledge hammer when you let off the gas. It also had hydroboost brakes where yours has vacuum.
Sold it and got a 93 dodge with as 5 speed and limited slip 12' dump. World of difference
that’s awesome!! I bet that dodge is a great truck!!
KABOOM, nice example of a gernaded diff. Good job fixing that mess!
lol sure is!!
I did the exact same thing to a brand new tire one time, didn't even have 30 miles on it. Real bummer was i got the tires on sale 50% off and the sale was over. So the new tire cost twice as much.
Yep it’s a bummer 😕
You did fine on the diff. Lot of diff guys make it seem like rocket science. You will benefit from warming the bearings and freezing the carrier if you can. Makes reassembly a breeze. Also you complained of not having the right puller for the carrier bearings when you definitely did. You put it in the vice under blocks of wood during reassembly. The bearing splitter is the tool for the job.
thanks! I actually did freeze them, the bearing splitter I had was to small I think
@@TheHomePros6221 thanks for the reply I know it's an older video. Spent a lot of yesterday watching them as you and I share a lot of interest with the lawnmowers and such. Great channel definitely subbed.
Excellent job on the repair 👍 will pray you start feeling better 🙏
Thank you so very much!!
Nice job you made!!! 👍💪
thanks a bunch
There is something soothing about watching your videos, the content is interesting and you're a nice person to listen to. I was a little worried that something might of happened since nothing new had come out but now I understand, Take your time and I hope you get/feel better soon. Great job!
Thank you so much it really means a lot to me!!
i enjoy the channel , i do watch some of the bigger channels but my channel is small and i like the authentic way of your editing , very good . i might learn some tips from you as well , thanks again.
Thank u soo much I truly appreciate it!!
I appreciate the content.
😊
Great job on the truck. Fun video...thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Wow, that rear end was toast man! What in the hell where they doing!!
hahah your guess is as good as mine
Hey Darrell! Great job sir! Great video as well! I like the way you keep things simple and you always fix everything right the first time. Take care of yourself sir and thank you for the fantastic videos!
Thanks 👍 frank that means a lot to me I really appreciate it!!
Thanks for the videos. 👍
Glad you like them!
excellent work man im glad i found you. Thank you for doing things right and i hope you recover soon
This reminds me of when I rebuilt the Dana 44 in my 01 TJ, replacing the grenaded Trak Lok with a Yukon Dura Grip, all new bearings and seals for the axles too. So far it hasn't exploded and it works great. I made sure to use shims that equalled the old ones. I think as long as you follow the basic guidelines, it's a fairly straightforward job.
That’s awesome brother 👍
The next thing you should build is a parts washer and a cement pad.
I have a parts washer but I really want a cement slab
Gr8 video. Awesome score on the 🚚. 😲 buddy hands full with that wiring. Little dump truck + skid steer = $$$ side hustle. ❤️ the videos . New subscriber from Canada
aw thanks man I really appreciate that!!
Great job young man...I have never seen in my life such a catastrophic failures and to such an extent. It was like a hand grenade been stuffed inside that poor Deferential and then driven to see what happens...the results was what you saw....shocking.beyond believe...
Keep up the good work ,look after your health and keep going ...
thank you very much!! you are correct this diff was crazy bad!! I think he kept driving with it messed up lol
Great job Darrel, looks like you did a expert job on that diff. and look after your health and keep going ...
Two things young man. Never put grease on brake rubber parts because it causes the rubber to swell and become disformed, second thing , when putting your wheel hubs on and setting the clearance on them you get the feel you want with the inner nut and then you put the locking washer with the bendable tabs pointed to the outer nut. When you get the outer nut tight you then look for a tab that aligns with one of the slots in the outer nut and then you bend the tab into the slot so the outer nut won't turn. I see that you found a replacement center section which was a smart idea. Keep up the good work.
yes sir👍
The last knuckle head that did a brake job ruined that rear end. They destroyed that seal and all the gear oil leaked out and left the spider gear dry.
Most likely 😩
I'd like to encourage you to keep on making videos for your channel. You are seriously competent and I love the resurrection of
dead rigs. One suggestion- when you edit, try doing voice overs the action. That way the video action keeps moving and you don;t need to think about talking while working.
I don't think the way your doing voice now works well - half comes out as mumbles. I say this because you have a lot to offer as far as info for viewer, which will enhance the videos rather than detract.
Thank you so much!🙂🙂
Slime is a temporary fix I hope you get a tire soon I work on lawnmowers and people use slime on there tractors and when they ask me to install new tires we'll it doesn't look good the inside is eaten up and the rim is so rusted
oh yea you are correct I got a new tire
in our area there are senior folks that are desperate for a good repair/builder company..exactly like you..nobody wants to be active and start a business..shame..i hope the New Year brings health and prosperity to you and yours..peace
Thank you very much my friend!!
Amazing work sir, you have a lot of skill really enjoy your videos, take care.👍👌
Thank u micheal!
I use cyclone fence top rail tubing for Chester pipe too.
lol🙂
Didn't really want to see you take a dump anyway. lol Hope your heart is doing better. Matters of the heart are not to be trifled with. Mental or physical. Be careful sir. Great work on the truck. Change that tire. Almost as important as brakes. I wanna see more of your videos. Oh yeah, happy thanksgiving to you and yours.
haha thank you so much my friend
I was so happy to see your video pop up, great to see you back at it buddy 🙂👍. Great job on that rear end, I'd have just hit it with a big hammer like the last person 🤣🤣
haha thanks Dave!! I really appreciate it I’m going to keep trying the best I can 🙂
Nice job. I enjoy your video. 😃
Thank you very much!!
You know how many times ive said "that will work temporarily"? 78% of those are still working.
hahaha
part 4 please
lol 👍
Living is learning and learning is living yup
I personally would pull the axles and then pull the carrier out
that’s what I did
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼…………. I am glad to get another video from you, but your health is more important! Some times it takes a while for even the smartest doctors to figure things out. Hang tough.
thank you so much!!! it’s people like you that keep me going I appreciate everything 🙂
Looks like you forgot to attach the rear shocks. Nice work brother..
It was broken
A bolt is missing from the lower shock mount on the right side, so I would recommend checking the left side too
yea the shock is to short
Onward!
thank u
That differential decide to be a coffee mill O_O
hahah it identifies as a coffee grinder lol
New subscriber!! Really glad to find your channel! I love the restoration of the skid steer and this dump truck has been great! 💯👍
I took automechanics in High school and worked on my vehicles all my life and it saved me so much money!
I like that you clean and degrease before working and are thorough with your repairs! kutgw!!!😎
thank you soo much!! comments like this keep me going! I really appreciate the support!!
Brother I’ve worked on those old trucks my whole life but I started when they were not cool cause it was all I could afford. I’ve got to tell ya for your first time working on the brakes especially you did a great job. Hopefully you can enjoy the truck and have fun with it.
thank you my friend I learned a lot being my first time!! thank you for the wonderful commenr
Zane I didn't know you had a heart condition I'm so sorry for that take you're time brother and no need to apologize for that now I understand why I don't know if you're a believer in God .Iam an I definitely will be praying for you and your family. Zane God bless you an I look forward to your next video thank you
thank you soooo much!! my name is darrell btw lol thanks for your support
You should buy a government surplus trucks and hummer h1 to play with.
yes I plan on it
👍👌👏 Well done. 2) Hope you found a competent doctor for your heart problems. 3) I also hope that there will be a third part about this dump truck.
Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and especially health to all involved life forms (humans and dog).
Excellent job man, my only thought was when I watched you re-install the axle i noticed it was dry. I probably wouldve put some engine oil on a rag and rubbed up the axle to add a light coating of lubricant on it but thats just me ha!
Super therapeutic watching you work on this :)
Thanks 👍 and yes I lubricated the axle very well and mainly the bearings cause they are all in a oil bath
@@TheHomePros6221 awesome work I must've missed that when I was watching haha
I may have edited it out 🤷
I hope the previous mechanic watches this. I've seen some bad work in my day. But this may come in second. First still belongs to the guy that needed new motor in his newer Honda Accord. His friend told him buy a Honda you never have to do anything to it. So 37,000 miles on factory oil is max! The cams looked like that locker did.
hahaha
@@TheHomePros6221 at least you salvaged that mess. When you pulled the drum and the adjuster fell out, epic. Welded studs was a nice touch.
hahah it’s crazy the things I find lol
Great job. You havw to rid of that fish eye camera. Not a good picture.
you are correct, any suggestions?
Nice job. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos. 👍 Is that 82nd Airborne sticker in the back window yours? If so, thank you for your service.
Thank you so much!!
bigger truck more money for you do what you can to help you i did and i love my job if you dont love what do that not good for you life is short you or doing good
you are very correct
Put a tube in that tire and swap it to the rear.
I ended up getting a new tire
I hope you connected the shocks? FYI axle locking nut fingers face out to lock the outer locking nut.
yep👍
What's up
Sup big dawg
Good job on the dumptruck, hope you can get your heart problem figured out asap.👍
I hope so too
and thank u so much!!
Hi
hey
get the shocks reconnected on that badk axle and it'll ride like a Cadillac
it actually already rides like a Cadillac lol but the one shock is to short
it might ride a little better with new shocks front and back and avoid any other problems
yes I plan on doing that 🙂
I like the truck alot I watched the first 2 episodes when you first got it 👍 will there be a part 4 for this awesome truck that you own ?
Thank you very much!! Possibly
Is there any springs on them pin s the one u welded pin from back spring push cap on twist good lad
yes they do
Sorry to here that m
it’s ok brother things happen I guess ☹️
I thought for sure that your test drive would be to the dump to empty the shingles out of the bed.
I did but when I got to the dump my camera card messed up😣
Is that a dual shock mount on each side of your rear axle?? I knew some of those square bodies had dual front option but I have never seen a dual rear! Pretty cool
I think someone did a hack job trying to add some
@@TheHomePros6221 ahhhhh, par for the course on this one haha
You want those vent hoses ran as high as posible with check valve!!!! So when you back into the lake you wont get water in the pumk in.
Wonderful video/teaching. I assume you got the replacement rear end from a salvage yard. I'm trying to figure out as to which one you knew to order. Is it based on the VIN? Perhaps the number of teeth on the ring and pinion gears? You demonstrate great courage and confidence to take on this project. Hope you are feeling better. Kind Regards, Craig
Thank you so much I actually bought the carrier used off eBay it was pretty cheap like a tad over 100 bucks I just knew I had a 10.5” full float rear end and found the diff to match it’s a pretty common axle
looks like someone dumped the clutch with a load thats what usually happens with the spiders blown up lioke that
you are probably correct
RE: your heart….I’m HOPING you DIDN’T take ANY Covid shots😌
No I didn’t but I had a severe case of Covid and now have permanent issues ☹️
I'm still looking for my 250 dollar dump bed deal luck and knowledge are your friends I can see.
yes sir 👍
Someone who knew worked on the carb, and someone who didn't worked on the rear.
lol
Did you ever reattach the rear shocks?
I did off camera they were to short
Enjoy your videos but you take care of yourself first and foremost. Find a doctor that can diagnose and treat that heart. It's kinda important.
thank you so much my friend
the tool you used to put bearing on is what you should have used to take it off.
why? mr pro mechanic? they weren’t pressed on they slid on fine with a few small taps to seat them, name one reason why it’s bad, did the block of wood break the bearing?… no
🚛👍
🙂🙂
Looks like both axles are bent? Quite a bit of wobbling going on @57:15
where do you get those tiny wire wheels ?
Harbor frieght
Great videos Darryl. But your parts and tools in the dirt triggers my ocd. A tarp maybe?
I plan on one day pouring a slab cause it does get annoying getting sand on tools
I wanted to see the back without all the junk in it.
I actually drove it to the dump and recorded dumping it but the footage got corrupted ☹️
Is it for sale? Thing is sweet
unfortunently I sold it already ☹️
