Always a bit sad to see our ex-Dublin Buses like this. Even more when they went on to many more years service in the UK and here in Ireland after they were sold on.
I've driven 69085👍along with whatever else has came down from Glasgow, driven most of them while at either larkfield which is now caley or while at scotstoun
Why is it crazy. The design life is only 15 years. They do massive mileage as noted. 1 million miles or more. Used every day all day, in some cases night too, in all weathers. It's not like a private car. They get 10 times as much use. Eventually they just wear out. You get bus enthusiasts saying "why scrap them, they are still useful". But the cost of continual repairs and off road time means they are not economical to operate. Also, the passenger experience deteriorates, again limiting their revenue earning ability.
@@PreservationEnthusiast Didn't ask for a novel on why they're at scrap, Unlike some enthusiast I understand why they are there, Just feels like yesterday that they were the common sight & now barely see them.
@@FirstSmit I'm just helping to educate any bus foamers who may be reading the thread. They all say the same thing. "Why scrap them, it's crazy, they are very useful etc etc". If they are true bus enthusiasts, they should also understand about the operational maintenance and design life etc.
Do you know if there is any of the 2002 Dennis Trident Alexander ALX400's there that are salvageable? I would be interested in one of the BX02 reg ones.
Why are these buses bring scrapped?? See 2:05sec. Wasn't plan upgraded and redevelopment making new electric buses create together it is? What a biggest disappointment those waste of money. I heard that China's oldest buses are being fully redevelopment to make new-look electric buses that will save money better than waste. Now, this... It hell waste of money for those buses it is. What purpose derelict these buses! They are no idea, lack of plan redevelopment of those buses... What a shame, huh!! 😟💔
most are around 20 years old, most uk cities have age limits for buses, and more cities are now implimenting low emmission zones, a few of these buses have since been sold for further service others been scrapped

Where is this? I currently live in Glasgow and would love to give them one last visit as it’s what I remember growing up with
Keep videos coming
Were you allowed to take some front panels home?
as long as you pay for them, you can take what you want
Silly question I guess but can you buy these buses or are they just scrap?
you can buy them aswell
Still crazy to me seeing early 2000s buses going for scrap
getting quite common now seeing 2008-10 buses at the scrapyards

Cool but well used and worn out. It's up to you to preserve and restore, if you have the finance. Not rely on others.
