I'll be honest I have been watching your stuff for years... and I don't fish. I don't eat fish, but I like watching your videos every week or when ever they appear. I told my cousin yesterday you remind me a bunch of watching Bob Ross, you sorta start off showing us a plan/blank canvas and than by the end there is a bait with happy trees and fluffy clouds. You're good stuff to watch.
I finally got my first airbrush and let me say I’ve been binge watching your videos lol. Picking up as much information as possible. They are very helpful! Been a subscriber for like two or three years but still rewatch your videos all the time
Hey dj's baits! I've been looking into a couple brands of air brush kits and I can't really come up with what I'm trying to find. Is there a mix between hvlp and an air brush gun? Just something with a bit bigger of a holding can , and adjustable fan settings, I'm wanting something like this for small projects so I don't have to use a hugr 800ml mixing cup on a regular sized hvlp 1.0 mm
Fun Facts! This is helpful, not snarky: that giant shad is a Mooneye, also called a tooth herring. Not closely related to shad or herring, it's a prehistoric family of fish. Cool catch, they like to be in current seams and eddies.
@@dawsonlutz2971 a quick Google search says you're the right one! I've only ever caught Mooneye, and everything looks like a hammer when all you have are nails. The main feature that seems to separate them is whether the dorsal fin starts before or after the anal fin. After= Goldeye.
just wanted to add another fun fact about this mooneye v. goldeye situation. the eyes are one way of telling, mooneye being more a silver/gold eye with an ovalish pupil and gold eye are solid gold with a round pupil. the other is a mooneyes dorsal fin is either ahead or inline with the anal fin and a goldeyes dorsal fin is behind the anal gland.
Hi Nate super happy for another riverside build. Two ideas: Paint scheme of an Australian snapper, with the bright blue spots they have as juveniles. Secondly making a bait in the shape of a dusky Flathead (another Aussie fish).
Hey buddy, that first fish was a goldeneye! They make for great catfish bait, pretty well known for having teeth on their tongue. Great content as always, greetings from overseas deployment!
You should do a monthly mailbag video, show the stuff people send or catch a fish on a subscriber's lure. The more we can interact with the master the better
Sunday coffee and a Marling video . Nice way to start the day. Almost needed 3d glasses for the materials going into the bag. Thought I was gonna catch a pokey thing in the eye. I know you are never going to make a Beetlejuice sandworm and I have come to terms with it.
I watch every video you make all the way through and love every minute of them. Then later I watch them when I can’t fall asleep and your voice and the way you talk in these relaxes me so much I fall asleep halfway through every time! Not saying your videos are boring, just that they totally take my mind off stress and calm my nerves so much! You are my favorite RUclipsr by far!!!
I think for all the inspiration that Nate has given us, we should all submit some Lures to Nate and who ever he picks out is the best, could win a free guest appearance on his channel. Keep up the hard work and creativity Nate. Always love you videos.
You should just make yourself a tackle bag/box of the tools and gear you would need. Like the pokey thing🤣, super glue baking soda. Hooks, feathers. Maybe even bring the wife so she can tie a feathered treble while you make the lure. Love vids keep em coming 👍🏼
I mixed my tungsten with 25% baking soda. Before using it each time, I will shake the container well. The baking soda encapsulates the tungsten and cures quickly with the super glue.
I have been waiting for a riverbank build. 👍 Side note: Your “pokey thing” is called a scratch awl. 😊 Also don’t forget to plug in the lead pot… Oh wait never mind! 😁
You can catch shad that big down here in North Carolina on the Neuse River mid March to April. White shad or Hickory shad. I've caught Hickory shad 2-4 lbs. They will be full of row and they go up river to spawn and put up a helluva fight. Light rod 8lb. test and that is fun fishing.
Love the shots of you working around your son. I’ve done that hundreds of times. It would be easier for them to move obviously but having them nearby is the best.
dude riverbank baits videos are my absolute favorite, ive actually been doing it too since i saw your first video. now i dont really fish so i just make like a little wood charm or something but its so much fun.
I was wearing my Marlin tshirt the other day an someone recognized it. Had a great conversation, your channel brings happiness to a lot of people. Great work!
Next time, make a little pool by building a rock circle. This way you won’t need to worry about it floating away into the abiss 😝. Love how you can make a lure anywhere!!!
Dude I am dying laughing at the part where you put the super glue in the tungsten powder, the suspenseful music got me LOL, I love your videos man, every Sunday I look forward to them.
I'm amazed every time I watch one of your videos. wish I had even a fraction of your artistic and creative abilities. BTW, what you caught was not a Shad, it was a Goldeye. Fun facts for the day. They very closely resemble shad, and come from a family whose name means "shad like", but are a different species of fish all together.
I get excited when a river bank or one day hits. Oh and while I’m here….. can we have the sped up background music back? Best part is guessing the song while watching you sand or look for Mikita. Also, thank you for the entertainment
8:50 ah yes, the common baitmaker saying... "Little bit of mud in a bait never hurt." Great video as always. edit: Also, that package was incredible. So much variety. NICE one Steve aka Neverendingprojectlist.
I tend to use smaller diameter wire and it also won’t catch in the main drill hole. The key is to put the wire in the pinchers at a slight angle as they close. Works like a charm👍
That was awesome you caught something right away! I at first thought it was driftwood from the thumbnail. Maybe that should be the next riverbank challenge. 😉
In the next video, will you show us how you clean your airbrush? Also good to see more riverbank building! It's my favorite series by far (until you get the one day van, perhaps)
Those 3d printed cranks look VERY interesting. I'd love to know how they hold up being fished hard. Your bank bait was pretty sweet too. It's a shame the clear coat flake was so dense.
For a riverside build, a 2 screw wooden clamp could be almost as good as a vise (that you were missing) AND you could bring pre-twisted wire hardware AND then use a hand-powered eggbeater drill instead of cordless drill. Probably less total weight to shlep. BTW Well done on the tungsten. Ecological brownie points for you today!
you said something bit the fish.. but if you go back you can see that the marks werent there before you dropped em on the sharp rocks. also, Sweet bait bruh! love the content, and thank you for your time. :D fish beater. :D
your defiantly a gifted craftsman but after seeing you catch fish with a plain block of wood i realized your equally gifted angler. I could fish with every one of your lure and wouldn't have near the success.
Nate.. Great video as always and thanks for the plug. Glad you like the baits you actually made a few "Offishal" as I haven't even fished with some of those yet. I did test those square bills to make sure they ran straight but it shouldn't have been wet still which probably means I didn't get enough clear coat on it (I was trying to make the deadline but we won't talk about that though with rule# 1 and all. :) Anyway enjoy the baits and keep the great content coming.

@@TheNeuteredCat1 I found a top water walking bait to be a very beneficial bait for understanding the motion to the ocean
Always watching Mr. Marlings videos!
You are definitely one of the most creative bait makers on the internet
Wait, there’s other bait makers on the internet?! I guess I ruined the rest of them for myself by starting with Marling Baits…
I think the giant shad would be an awesome lure build in the future. Those eyes were dope 🤌
Yes make it look just like the real one; bite marks and all
@@bobbyhempel1513 that's a fantastic idea, I really hope he does this.
It’s a goldeye. Ugly fish, but really delicious smoked 🙌🏼
Its a big goldeye actually :)

yah thats what I thought it was a goldeye aswell. don't look like any shad I've seen
Goldeye *. Goldeneye is a duck species :D
Definitely goldeye. They are delicious if you smoke them!
Stay safe brother. ♠️
Also known for shitting everywhere when you catch them lol
When I see marlin baits in my notifications I know its time to relax
You have one of the most organic creative channels on RUclips. I can only imagine how many people you've inspired to explore their artistic abilities

One of the things I love about the riverbank build is they don’t come too often. Keep up the hard work nate.

Congrats on the goldeneye! My favorite catfish bait. Would make a sick lure
Great One-Day Riverbank build. Bonus fish talk with the locals = Realistic

Bonus gardening??? OH HECK YEAH!
The sheen/texture on those crawfish was really cool, that looked really original and effective.
Coming back after a few years and I'm glad to see this style of video back !!!!!!!
Majestically rustic bait making… inspiring

The perfect river lure was nice but the gardening was the bonus I was look for, thanks for the content as always!
Why did I never think of 3D printing baits before?!!?!
I think this year marks when I finally buy a 3D printer XD
Definitely agree with the others that have already said it. Replica shad / goldeneye needs to happen! Another great video.
Love watching you hand paint makes me feel better about my hand painting
I just adore your personality and wish I had a friend like you. I literally have no friends that fish.
Perfect start to the week, as always.
That shad was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Nice CATCH !
Love seeing our shirt at the end of this video - thanks Magoo!!
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos they make me laugh and I learn. If you ever come to SO. California let’s go fishing
Amazing I watched it as soon as I woke up this morning

That scary music when gluing the tungsten was great.
Awesome to see you create that on the bank. Taking my 8 year old daughter fishing tomorrow morning. She’s ready to catch a big one like you.

Awesome again! The shad you caught literally looked like a silver sword in your hand. Great video, keep em coming.
It wouldn't be a Marling bait without all the preparation to make sure you had all the perfect hardware and tools for the job
I like the half vlog at the end, you should keep us updated on how the planters are going👍🏼
That goldeye needs to be a life size build!
You made a complicated bait on a riverside and you caught a fish.. extraordinary my guy
