I do like and agree with the mistakes point. Last few years I've really got into improvising, something I couldn't do before yet wanted to for years and I've learned all the notes on the fretboard fluently (again something I hadn't bossed previously) and learned the scales by patterns and notes so over the last few years when improvising I'd fairly frequently make a bum note but what those mistakes taught me was that I now hear the music properly whereas before I was simply learning songs from tabs etc and not really properly listening. So it's a big progress and I now know when I'm not playing something well by ear and not simply by shapes or tabs. All the best for 2024.

Victor Wooten even recommends spending 5-10mins jamming with whatever notes, atonally. A practice of getting it out of your system and the fear of playing something wrong.
I agree that hitting those dissonant notes on purpose catalogues in your brain and can be just as important as the consonant notes.

@@daynemin A great point and I'm certain that there's a huge benefit to something like that. I think in the long term you almost preempt the errors because you can hear the tone or semi tone and therefore know/sense what the correct notes should be to play in key. Takes a long time and effort but well worth it in the long run. I'm so much more satisfied by my own playing now than simply learning tabs.

The singing in the shower part reminded me of Hal Galper ans his "the illusion of an instrument" video's mindblowing ideas.
