I double-sided backer, and I am far from angry. I have been really quite impressed by the communication from iQ². Weekly updates explaining the issues they are having. They are a young company and there were bound to be issues. I´m a backer for three PM (double side road, single side road and single side Mtb). I also think communication was not well. At least the had bigger problems with a databank transfer and I had some issues to regain my account. But the support becomes better and better. But I don´t buy a product, I support an idea. They had to learn a lot about production and communication. In conclusion: Not happy but not that angry like many backers or when a big company in my country failed to deliver my new tires two months!
I'm in line to get some, and while I'm not optimistic that they'll arrive soon, I'm very happy to have seen two reviews showing excellent power measurement. It's easy to complain (and many of the complaints are justified), but a future that involves accurate, dual-sided power for 300 euros is just amazing.
Glad this made it into the Lama Lab and that it did pretty well. Gives me hope that eventually I'll get my double-sided pedals and that I didn't flush the money for them.
I am a single sided backer. I don’t race, but wanted a cheap power meter. For me I was always confident the accuracy would be there. Ray mentioned the engineering side a years of experience in power meters. The question has always been can the put this into a peddle. If they could the accuracy would be there. It looks like they have managed it. Not the question is, as Shane says, when will they arrive and be available in bulk. I will get another one for my other bike once my first one arrives. My main worry over these years was, would more established brands come down in price before IQ2 got theirs released. It will be interesting to see what impact this has on the market in general. Thanks Shane for the review. Excellent as ever.

This might just be what I end up putting on my spare bike. Thanks for the great content, as always.
Thanks Shane I appreciate your reviews. I contacted IQ2 about delivery of the dual road pedals to the US, they said "Due to high demand, we expect to deliver to you in late July." We will see.
Because i was so 'smart' to get a campagnolo crankset for my roadbike, pedel powermeters are my best option. Very tempted to order these. And they're a dutch company, support your locals 😉
@@gplama Pedal conversion is good but I'm not happy to modify my shoes which would compromise grip for hike a bike sections. No issue for gravel riding but in MTB/CX I want every piece of grip in a mud or on a steep hill. :-)
That's some offshore English in the app - "Make sure the bike standing up, the paddles (?) are free. Don't weight the paddles during the Zero offset process." That doesn't say much for their QA department, who should never let a product out the door like that. Maybe it's a pre-production app, too.
For those tired of waiting you can get an NGeco or NG POwermeter from POWER2MAX for 150€ or 250€ less, respectively. Just contact them, show them you are a backer and get a discount coupon to use in their online shop! For credentials on their product see Shane Miller's excellent review on the NGeco Powermeter.
Nice, details of installation👍. Backer #172, for dual side. Am fine to wait since already waited for 2 years, most important is accuracy and reliability.
I made a vote of confidence when reading what has happened with the company and finally buy a pair of road pedals, as soon as they arrive I will comment.
@@cricanwa A lot of people use power meters with their smart trainers so the power is consistent indoors to outdoors. Most trainers/apps will take the power reading from the meter to control the trainer resistance.
A couple of points about the differentiation on this Power Meter. I am a backer for dual sided MTB pedals and although the wait has been long and will be longer still for these pedals, my cost for these was around $240 including shipping to US. The reason I backed these (in addition to the original design which would allow them to be used on any bike), was the technology they are using which, essentially prints the power meter on the spindle. This should mean that every power meter is identical, greatly reducing production costs (similar to chip design, with production flaws effecting yields, not requiring expensive post-production “tuning”). If this is successful, it really could lead to extremely accurate power being an inexpensive add on to any bike. I was hoping for something more like the original design, where power meters could be almost as simple and inexpensive as speed/cadence pods rather than only the domain of competitive cyclists. The final pedal based design is not quite the same, but still will showcase this technology and I am hoping to be able to transfer my pedals from MTB to road bike and even to my Spin bike.
Glad they passed the Lama Lab! I pre-ordered a few weeks ago, afraid the reduced price wouldn't be offered forever and since I can't afford anything more expensive. Thanks for your thorough and insightful review! Now I only hope that they will still be shipping this year! 😬
Waiting for it ! I backed for a DUAL and a MTB version - so I guess I will ave to wait a bit longer. But you bet it will be worth at least one video :)
Let's not forget that with the current COVID-19 pandemic we are in a very strange and difficult time for the world right now, especially for manufacturers who rely on supply chains which reach to the far east for materials and component supply. I have my reservations about this company and like yourself I did not want to take the risk BUT, IF they pull this off, they are going to raise the bar for competitors and lower the entry cost for riders into the power meter market, let's see. Great video.
@@gplama Apparently they will start delivering them after the one-sided. But if the one-sided are decent, hopefully they will start mass-producing soon!
Great review. Great news too ! News are slow to come, but consistently positive recently. Crossing fingers for my pedals to arrive soon ! ;-) Thx Shane.
Many thanks, as always, for a great thorough review. Based on this and DCR's review, I ALMOST joined the pre-order for a dual-sided road set. However, I changed my mind when I reviewed the specs and noticed the IP54 rating. Now, I would never pressure wash my bikes, but I wouldn't buy anything like this that wasn't at least IPX6 rated. After a quick check, I see that the Assioma, Vector 3 and stages devices are all IPX7 (I didn't check any others). It seems foolish to aim for a lower rating given all the multitude of issues with sealing that have plagued so many other power meter systems.
I recieved the "we'll be shipping to you by early July so please don't cancel your order" email today after I asked how long it would take to get my money back lol. I'm gonna wait it out.
I wanted them. Bought the Assiomas a year ago insteat. I might have payed more but I got much more and something reeeeaally reliable. But if this stuff holds up against time I will buy a iq2 for my second bike to have also power there.
backer back in 2018. The purpose for my backing was to be able to get rid of three different power meters on different bikes and not add a 4th to one of my MTB. Now I have to keep all the crank power meters and the MTB pedal power meter (if it is ever made).
Dual sided backer here. Complaints: you mentioned most of mine, also lack of communication (someone mentions weekly updates 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂) nope don't even think that happened once, even when they said they hired someone to do the PR. Then the change from titanium which was meant to be a bonus/ special edition for the backers, not a massive thing but could that be why the weights are out? Then you have the way they are shipping; I believe that kickatarter backer number 8 went for dual sided but they will not get thier PM until well after others (possibly hundreds) who backed later get thier single sided. I am fairly low down in the backers list and if I get mine before Christmas I'll be happy. At least once the product is delivered people can get a refund instead of demanding during this long process that they are refunded for a Kickstarter, which is not an option.
Bang on review Shane. As someone who is a keen recreational rider, doesn't race & probably doesn't "need" a power meter there is only 1 thing that would tempt me with this & that's the price. Is it worth the risk at this point with all the unknowns? Not sure.
Backer of dual sided road pedals. Initially I was very annoyed about the design swap, but it will be a hassle to switch between bikes each winter/summer whichever, so I'm good. Just glad all the data is coming back good. It's been a long wait, and not over yet, but I've waited longer for Kickstarter things. They seem to be in the home stretch, so fingers crossed it all goes smoothly from now :D
Ordered from their website but kind of lost on updates it still says delivery in June so let's wait and watch I am not hopeful but excited. I imagine that if they cant ship in June they should not write it on their website but June is still not over.
Looking forward to 6months/ a years time to see how they are fairing, would be interested as an affordable change to dual sided power from my P1S. Plus I'm not keen on the appearance and clipping in of the P1s!
Oh, my. I'll get the popcorn! As a disruptor in the pedal-based market at that price point it's promising. Acid test will be mass production and dual-sided. We'll see 2021 hopefully. :)
Love your videos shane, cant wait to get onto indoor training , unfortunately everywhere in adelaide is sold out for months which is really disheartening :(
15:54 - actually a Left only system would be lower if your right leg is working harder (the difference went the other way around at 14:29) - EDIT : my bad, I was looking at the picture...but it doesn't match the text ;-)
Glad I didn't throw any kickstarter money on this for the delays, but once they clear kickstarter orders and you can just order them, dual sided SPD power medal pedals for that price seem like a steal.
Yeah but certainly wait until they ship to backers...the last update is sounding much like the one 2 years ago...and again their shipping predictions were too optimistic. Also they have shipped 3 units now (2 to DCR/GPLama and 1 to a backer as a promo stunt)...we don't know if all units are as accurate, those could be cherry picked or had a special calibration which the others maybe don't get.
Great first initial impressions, thanks for sharing. Two questions: 1. will one be able to update to dual sided later on, as the competitors offer? 2. could you explain (if you know) a little bit more in-depth, why these install routines are different between the different vendors of pedal bases power meters, what do they do technically different, and would you prefer the one over the other, irregardless of the installation obstacles.
1 - Not sure. 2 - Only a guess... but it'll likely be related to the install angles so the pedal knows where it is in space/time. The Assioma, P1, P2, and Vector 3 are much easier to install. No messing about with guide tools and torquing them down snug enough by hand is sufficient.
1 - yes, the app will recognize them all as single PMs and "pair" them together. You can also chose to order left or right pedals...but please wait with ordering at least until they ship to backers.
@@edittide9842 I somewhere read that it would be possible...but don't ask me where exactly is a longer while ago (must be in the comments of some KS update). Would be surprised if it wouldn't be possible makes no sense to me from a technological standpoint (they will not make other pedals for single or dual side, the only thing which could be different is a firmware lock...but why...two single sided is a lot more expensive than one dual sided, and you just get a dummy set in return) So don't take my worth for it...if you have other information that could be true as well...it's like many info they give...pretty vague and unclear. Let's hope GPLama/DCR gets a dual sided set at some point then they can test to mix them up...
@Shane Miller Aren't you worried about the low IP rating? IP 54 for continuous outdoor usage in a super-exposed location with high particle speeds (due to the velocity of the moving bike)... for me this would be a killer. Has the MTB pedal specified at least IP65/67? Just cleaning the bike with a Medium Pressure jet - IPX5 (also known as washing your bike with a garden hose) can imho kill an IP54 device if you make any mistake/are not thoughful. Maybe it even works with a part that comes from a still-in-perfect-shape injection mold with brand-new o-rings. But what happens after the 50,000th unit where maybe tolerances are less tight after several years of use with someone that might even have abused it (see garden hose where you had the nozzle tight instead of fully open). Doesn't really seem to be a robust design. My Wahoo elemnt, which is obviously mounted in a much less exposed location on the handlebar and has with IPX5 a higher rating had issues just with heavy rain...and this device - I assume - is removed by everyone before cleaning the bike, too. So very limited risk of getting very dirty (dust ingress) in the first place and being hosed down in the second place; still they opted (rightfully so) for a higher ingress protection.
Thanks for the review. I'm worried about the battery cap when it comes to the MTB pedals. Will these pedals cope with the normal MTB / Gravel abuse? Think I will settle for my gravel bike to a single sided Stages grx crank. Then I'm free to use any pedal and know that on average I have to compensate for 3% difference in power between left and right. Sounds to me more durable. On a budget these will be great pedals, put as always: you get what you pay for. My 2 cents.
Nearly 3 years on and the production single and dual sided road pedals are available to purchase (just don't tell the backers). Have you received a set to do a test on the production models?
Shane - what brand/model, maintenance stand are you using in this video when you’re installing the pedals? I’m on the market for one although they’re all so expensive.
Clipping in and out was fine? And any idea if you can remove the bearings from the body to replace the grease? And my meaning on the review: I think the installation is not a big deal, and I prefer not including any cleats, as it allows you to chose the float you like most (OK ideally they would let you chose the cleats you get with them). I get my Keo Grip cleats always for around 10€, so it doesn't add a lot to the cost. And you can find them even cheaper (non grip e.g. for 6€ on wiggle). Otherwise I really liked the review (it's e.g. a shame they don't put the correct weight in their specs). Do you plan to do further testing on these? (e.g. battery life and just if there is any problem with longevity, as e.g. ip54 sounds worse than ip67 what most pedals are certified for)
@@gplama I already asked, they didn't answer it (like most questions which are more difficult to answer)...I hoped you could some how see if there is some locknut or so...when looking at the pictures I can't see any obvious things how to dissasamble the pedals. And thanks for your answer and review!
Thanks for the great review Shane! I would have enjoyed you verbally going through the timeline to demonstrate why the backers are all angry, but I also understand you are more interested in the test results and staying above the fray. There are plenty of people dismissing these issues as basically growing pains but there are patterns of misleading the backers that is the real problem. I think IQ2 should learn from this video how to properly communicate with their backers!
I went hard enough on them before getting to the important parts. I can't be bothered 'roasting' things for entertainment purposes. I'm a little over this whole saga, I just wanted to know if it was good power meter or not.
I've kinda just resigned myself to fact that they will come when they're ready, and I'd rather they get it as accurate and reliable as they can before sending. What's another years wait between startup and backer? It'll be like a nice unexpected present to myself when it does eventually arrive. Until then I wait patiently
Hey Shane, just thought I would mention something about the Shimano Dura-ace right hand power meter reading low, using my stages dual power meter, I just checked a whole bunch of random rides and my L/R balance is almost always 47/53. So its obvious its not as bad as the shimano branded power meter. Right side doesnt appear to be reading low just riding along.
I need some Lama lab help. I just bought a pioneer dual monitoring powermeter. It's super awesome on the road and the left/ right sides are easy to connect to my garmin. When I try to connect it to my zwift it doesnt work.. Or maybe it does, It reads power but only from one side so I can select left or right when choosing my power source. anyone know if when its reading its tracking both sides or is it only sending one side information? THanks
One for Pioneer Support (if they still exist... they left the power meter industry earlier this year). ANT should give both sides... I’d take a punt on Left giving both LR data if the cranks are property linked in the config.
Indiegogo.com backer over here. Except for the ooooh so long wait to see if my dual sided iq² actually will show up everything looks just as I had hoped. As a backer I got away even cheaper and the accuracy is all that matters since I already put down the money oh so long ago. Already got the keo cleats
Hi Shane, I'm a backer from Kickstarter - its seems like years ago with the endless disappointing updates and changes to the specs which I originally bought into. The most annoying thing from my point of view is that I'm going to have 2 bikes on Shimano and 1 on Look, so will have to decide which shoes I have for the Keo cleats and either change all of my other pedals and cleats to Keo or have to have a dedicated pair of shoes for the Keo shod bike. The original concept that drew me in was the adaptability to use your existing pedals. So a good value power meter is going to be much more expensive however it stacks up, especially if I have to buy 3 sets of cleats and 2 more sets of pedals. Anyone want to buy 3 sets of Shimano pedals?
Awesome video, Shane. Question: how important do you think the torque wrench portion is? Or could I just do these pedals down hand tight and the accuracy would still be there?
For someone who's done up pedals a lot... not that important. I couldn't get the torque wrench in behind the crank on the Stages Bike so went by feel with good results. My concern would be IQ2 support having a default reply to anyone experiencing accuracy issues of "Did you follow our recommendation and tighten the nut to 20-25Nm".
I ordered dual sided through indiegogo 2 years ago, and am a bit miffed that you got a test unit before me, who laid down my money. All that said, when I get my hands on a working pair of mountain bike pedals that I can put on my tri-bike with short cranks it'll be worth it in the end (hopefully). I do wonder personally how long it will be before they replace the battery cap with an aluminium one.
Sending the unit my way was an extremely cheap way for them to have the unit independently tested and details published to 120,000+ subscribers and tons of drive-by viewers. Also a risky move if the unit performed badly.....
Latest Kickastarter update yesterday (number 65 - 31st Aug 2020) makes it clear you were given a hand-made power meter and that no power meters have yet been made on the production line. So can we trust production power meters (if it ever happens) will get the same accuracy results?
Here is the latest update -> We’re busy setting up the production automation and have stopped manual production in the meantime. Manual production was a temporary solution to get the process under control but is now too time-consuming. Although some automation tools still needed tweaking, the automation process is at an advanced stage. We will update you once the automated production process is fully running.
Thank you for the review! I don't agree that it should come with cleats. It would be nice to have but for me this is not really a negative. I mean everybody who rides Look Keo pedals got cleats. And if you don't just buy your preferred Look Keo cleats. They are cheap. A problem with them shipping cleats would be that not everybody likes the same cleats which would result in many not being used anyway.
Any update from iq2 lately? I see on their website they are still accepting pre orders and are saying Jan 2021 as a delivery date. Did they end up shipping to backers already?
I noticed that you have at least 3 videos speaking about IQ2, will you do a final one on how people should invest elsewhere since they are no close to being delivered
I’ll do updates as more information comes in on the status of this company and their power meter. I’ve never told people to invest in these, in fact it’s the opposite of you ask me that question.
@@gplama I understand that you never told people to invest, but I do think that you opinion on all the bad management from them would warn eventual buyers.
Don’t forget that iq2 posted on their fb page a few times that pedals were on there way to Shane. They weren’t. @Shane Miller almost gave up hope of ever receiving some.
It has all gone quiet again and they have stopped answering questions (even on messenger). The promise to ship to all backers by the end of June became July then Q3. It then turns out they haven't mass produced any (despite an advertising campaign stating mass production and shipping has started). They claim to have hand-shipped 19 single sided PMs (but only one person on kickstarter can confirm they have them). They said they would make 250 the next week, but now won't confirm if that happened/how many. They also state they need to fine tune the pcb design.
Nice product! what about the MTb ones?, will they be strong enough for any possible hit, stone and falling?, is there any warranty service on this?, MTB is not road, pedal power meter could be really problematic in case of hitting?
The original design concept seemed unique☝️. I’m disappointed I’m now (hopefully) getting a traditional pedal power metre 👎 Reassured by your accuracy test 👍. December 2020 and still not shipped 🙁
Great video. I am a backer. I currently use a powerpod power meter. It is really quite accurate. do tou have any ideas how I can test and compare the 2 different units at the same time I will have a dual iq2 coming.
I am a backer for a double sided road power meter. I would not say I am angry because the Kickstarter offer was very cheap compared to other power meters but when these pedals do eventually arrive they will be of no use to me because I used Speedplay pedals and I am not about to change that. The original design was perfect. I will probably sell them immediately.
ThanK#s for your review. I have two different PM's (P2Max, and a Stages/ Shimano derviat on the Propel). Over all, the numbers divert by about 5-10 percent given the output in relation to time. so i find your work very interesting. DANKE !!!! :))) Greets David
I have a question: I ride mountainbike shoes on my road bike. Should their mountainbike pedals also give me good data on my road bike? Or would there be a difference? Thanks in advance!
Until we see their MTB pedals, we don't know how they perform. In theory there's no issues using MTB pedals on a road bike. I've been using my Assioma with the SPD hack on my road bike recently.
Hi Shane, can I also use the pedal to see my torque effectiveness and pedal smoothness besides power and cadence? And can I do the zero offset with my wahoo element bolt?
I was excited in the beginning when they could attach to any pedals. Now I couldn't care less. If I have to change from shimano cleats, I'd go with the assioma or vector
Bottom bracket is 24mm on the older bike so I’m using that for anything that needs that. The InPeak was matched to an Ultegra 8000 chain set for this testing.
You told, that the PM is the same as from other producers. That's not true: my interest in the product was awakened by the new concept of measurement technology of the strain gauges (molecularly bonded and trimmed by laser) - So I'm waiting for the MTB dual pedals for gravel utilization. But nice to see that the preproduction single pedal is working in that way; it seems that the technlology behind is working in priciple ...
I didn’t say this is the same tech as other companies. I said there are power meters already on the market that match the features of this.... and better them in a number of areas.... except price.
if i remember the long odyssey of the garmin pedals, it certainly took longer and brought out a worse product than iqsqare. I have a lot of respect for the approach to publicly discussing all decisions, especially in today's shit strom culture of the network. So when a product comes out of the process it is wonderful. but i also think that it still needs one or two versions to be really perfect in function an robustness . (if then the price is low again they did everything right) - for now, what we can get and expect from iqsqare you made a good test ... (and maybe they will tackle the subject of the original variant later with more experience)
I was watching this video with attention. But the moment I saw there are no cleats included and that you have to use look pedals? I was like not interested any more. Cuz I use Shimano Pedals. Look pedals are difficult to get in my region. I live in the Caribbean.
@@gplama Yup... that seems like the best plan! Thanks for such awesome content Shane, I'm re-entering the cycling world and new to indoor training. Your videos have been a huge help to me. Definitely sub'ed.
@@gplama I did get a response from IQ2: "First of all, thank you for the interest in our power meters. As of the moment, we are in the heart of production and are not receiving pre-orders but instead, we will soon accept orders based on the availability of the products on hand. As soon as it is available, we will make an announcement."
@@DavidR8 Look back at their track record. Simply forget they exist until (if) they have a product on the market that has a proven track record. YEARS after their Kickstarter launched they're nowhere.
Thats my concern with pedal powermeters. I always, so far, bought the cheapest pedals from shimano and just replace them. The bodies also wear out..so what then?
You could kinda tell you didn’t want/expect these to succeed - and to mark them down for having no cleat is a little harsh! / if I’m buying a pedal I expect to get a pedal - its sold as Keo compatible, and it is - happy days. Plastic end cap aside, it’s looking strong for the money.
Like a lot of people, I'm a little over the whole saga. Who isn't? Be being harsh for no cleats? Every other company supplies cleats. If you buy this power meter you can't use it out of the box until you find cleats. So let me be clear - I think it's a cop out for them not to supply cleats and make people do the legwork there with their wallet.
Shane Miller - GPLama I guess as it’s a ‘bargain basement’ price point (for power) so I’m prepared/expecting to cut them some slack and only get the pedal for the money. Eager to see a follow on production unit 3month+ longer review from you too 👍🏻.
The reviews from backers will be just as important as the early take on things both I and DCRainmaker have posted. I'm keen to see how these pedals go for everyone else.
Every single sided power meter does the left. It makes sense for Shimano cranks as the left is easier to get to (and it’s symmetrical). Pedals.... no idea.
2 years, that's not a long wait for a Kickstarter. Try 4 years for a smart helmet. Unfortunately when is comes to electronic gadgets by the time a Kickstarter campaign delivers it's probably outdated in many ways. Hopefully I get the dual sided mtbs in July, that would be cool.
I'm an original backer from day one' I waved good bye to that money a LONG time ago, really bad communications-updates still waiting for the dual sided version, don’t like the fact that you have to use a lining up tool that’s old-school-tec, plastic cover should have been aluminium; how are you supposed service the bearings, I’ve sent numerous amounts of emails saying I would accept two single sided meters with not one reply from them, great information from your self

Thanks Shane; great review. I`m an early bird double sided backer, can`t wait to test against my 4iiii pm :-)
Thanks Shane I appreciate your reviews. I contacted IQ2 about delivery of the dual road pedals to the US, they said "Due to high demand, we expect to deliver to you in late July." We will see.
I am a backer from indiegogo, waiting on news for the dual sided pedals. Thank you for all the updates you have provided.
I wish them good luck...They are on the right path.
Because i was so 'smart' to get a campagnolo crankset for my roadbike, pedel powermeters are my best option. Very tempted to order these. And they're a dutch company, support your locals 😉
Same here, something like 4iii seems nice but gets expensive real quick when you add up all the components that need to change to make it compatible.
@@jelle7224 in hindsight. I wish i had ultegra on my roadbike. A 2nd hand 4iiii crank arm is very affordable.
Same issue for me, going Shimano next for sure!
Thanks for the initial review. Unless Favero will announce SPD compatible version of their Assioma this will be my go to pedal based PM for MTB.
If you're willing to do your own conversion, they already do: ruclips.net/video/ybAFIhKahnM/видео.html
I'm nearer 1000 hopefully I'll be getting mine in a couple of months time.
I made a vote of confidence when reading what has happened with the company and finally buy a pair of road pedals, as soon as they arrive I will comment.
Looking forward to hearing how they work for backers.
I'm finally getting a smart trainer this week and I'm really excited, thanks to your videos I know what to do!
@@cricanwa not from this video but just all the others
Good luck.. I'm still waiting for mine since 2 years ago
Sono ladriiiii
Waiting for it ! I backed for a DUAL and a MTB version - so I guess I will ave to wait a bit longer. But you bet it will be worth at least one video :)
Damn! Man loves a risk! :)
Shane Miller - GPLama I hoped for the best
Let's not forget that with the current COVID-19 pandemic we are in a very strange and difficult time for the world right now, especially for manufacturers who rely on supply chains which reach to the far east for materials and component supply. I have my reservations about this company and like yourself I did not want to take the risk BUT, IF they pull this off, they are going to raise the bar for competitors and lower the entry cost for riders into the power meter market, let's see. Great video.
Woohooo, been waiting for this video. Made a pre-order about a year ago; double-sided road pedals. Can't wait!
Me too!! Finally Shane uploaded his review!
Well..... I don't have any news on the double sided. The upside is they might be accurate if they do deliver those. We will have to wait and see.
well I've made my pre-order for MTB power meter years ago. There's plenty of road power meters so that was their niche.
I hope the 2 year warranty starts when you receive them, not from when the order is made. :)
@@gplama Apparently they will start delivering them after the one-sided. But if the one-sided are decent, hopefully they will start mass-producing soon!
Great review. Great news too ! News are slow to come, but consistently positive recently.
Crossing fingers for my pedals to arrive soon ! ;-)
Thx Shane.
For me is a NoGo to change the design. When i want chocolate, i want chocolate. Good video!
Chocolate is good.
Good stuff! Can’t wait to get my hands on these.
I wanted them. Bought the Assiomas a year ago insteat. I might have payed more but I got much more and something reeeeaally reliable. But if this stuff holds up against time I will buy a iq2 for my second bike to have also power there.
Cheers Shane, looks promising
backer back in 2018. The purpose for my backing was to be able to get rid of three different power meters on different bikes and not add a 4th to one of my MTB. Now I have to keep all the crank power meters and the MTB pedal power meter (if it is ever made).
Wild shifts in the weather... Welcome to Ballarat, have a nice day...🙃
Dual sided backer here.
I funded on Kickstarter for left only. I hope I receive them shortly 🤞. Thanks for the video
Did you recieve it yet?
@@yl2900 No, and I'm losing hope rapidly. One month without news is ominous. It would be a real shame if they fold so close to the end.
@@yl2900 Do you know if anyone has received theirs yet? Any news?
You will receive them in 2090
Bang on review Shane.
Super review and the truth about how it is. I couldn't stand it. Yesterday I received a refund from PayPal 😢
thanks for this ;-) good that things are on the right track
Hi Shane, thanks for your great video,
can you say somethings about battery life and IP54 protection ? I think some of us are a bit puzzled about.
Battery.... 140hrs. Not much more I can cover there. IP54... not quite the IP67 standard other companies claim.
Oh, my. I'll get the popcorn! As a disruptor in the pedal-based market at that price point it's promising. Acid test will be mass production and dual-sided. We'll see 2021 hopefully. :)
Yes, 400-500 is way too much for a recreational cyclist like myself but for under 200 I just might get one.
Love your videos shane, cant wait to get onto indoor training , unfortunately everywhere in adelaide is sold out for months which is really disheartening :(
Rug up and head to the hills! Such great riding over there. Can’t wait to get back there soon!
E tutta una presa per il culo...non esistono questi pedali.a me e un amico ci hanno inculato per bene
Perfect excellent reflection of status and situation, congratulation!
15:54 - actually a Left only system would be lower if your right leg is working harder (the difference went the other way around at 14:29) - EDIT : my bad, I was looking at the picture...but it doesn't match the text ;-)
The text says IQ2 is on the left though, i think the pictures might be wrong there.
@@jelle7224 You're right, good catch !
Ahhhh... yes. My mistake on that. I didn't switch the images around. Power = good. Lama = bad. :)
Would be surprised if it wouldn't be possible makes no sense to me from a technological standpoint (they will not make other pedals for single or dual side, the only thing which could be different is a firmware lock...but why...two single sided is a lot more expensive than one dual sided, and you just get a dummy set in return)
So don't take my worth for it...if you have other information that could be true as well...it's like many info they give...pretty vague and unclear.
Time will tell if this is an Achilles' heel of the unit.
No, and based on the history timeline of this company - Nobody should be giving them money.
Shane - what brand/model, maintenance stand are you using in this video when you’re installing the pedals? I’m on the market for one although they’re all so expensive.
Feedback Sports Sprint.
(e.g. battery life and just if there is any problem with longevity, as e.g. ip54 sounds worse than ip67 what most pedals are certified for)
No issues clipping in/out. I’ll see how the Keo Grip cleats go this week when they arrive. No idea on the bearings. One for IQ2 to answer there.
01:55 Badass! lol
Without another meter on your bike to do a direct comparison, it's hard to conclude anything. Maybe you're really 45/55?

Thanks! I’ll give the cranks a switch over to ant and see if that should them as double before give up and just use left haha! Appreciate the response
The original attraction to this design was in the ability to keep your current pedal system.
@@gplama thanks man!!
Great video.
Thanks!
That battery location with a plastic plug will be very vulnerable to rocks on a mountain bike pedal.
@@gplama good marketing for them, but snot for me. Will get something for my money, so a long term punt I guess
Every other power meter pedal comes with cleats. Yes they're cheap, so they should be suppled as part of the 'service offering'.
Any update from iq2 lately? I see on their website they are still accepting pre orders and are saying Jan 2021 as a delivery date. Did they end up shipping to backers already?
No updates worth mentioning....

I’ve been waiting TWO YEARS! .... Kidding. A week or so from NL to AU.
@@gplama Thanks for you answer. One week is indeed shorter than I expected, which is great of course :^)
Until they're released.... there's no answers to those questions.
The original design concept seemed unique☝️. I’m disappointed I’m now (hopefully) getting a traditional pedal power metre 👎 Reassured by your accuracy test 👍. December 2020 and still not shipped 🙁
It's been quite the story for IQ^2 and their backers..... one that isn't over yet.

I am a backer for a double sided road power meter. I would not say I am angry because the Kickstarter offer was very cheap compared to other power meters but when these pedals do eventually arrive they will be of no use to me because I used Speedplay pedals and I am not about to change that. The original design was perfect. I will probably sell them immediately.
earthstick I’ll buy them!
Are there plans to test the Double version?
I don't think there's much hope I'll see the double version. This company has proven to be the Fyre Festival of power meters.
Shane Miller - GPLama ok great to know that I shouldn’t change my shoes/pedals in theory! Thanks!
Have a duel road set ordered, can’t wait, will the shimano 105 pedal cleats work?
These will not work with Shimano road cleats.
Thanks Shane for all the great videos 👍🏻✌🏻
Hi Shane, can I also use the pedal to see my torque effectiveness and pedal smoothness besides power and cadence? And can I do the zero offset with my wahoo element bolt?
The left pedal is reporting TE and PS when I look at it with the NPE WASP, so that looks like a yes. You can do a zero-offset with the Bolt, yes.
All right, that’s nice, thanks for the quick response 👍
I was excited in the beginning when they could attach to any pedals. Now I couldn't care less. If I have to change from shimano cleats, I'd go with the assioma or vector
I see you've been using the old Giant a lot in recent videos. What happened to the advanced pro disc? Just a seasonal choice as you head into winter?
Bottom bracket is 24mm on the older bike so I’m using that for anything that needs that. The InPeak was matched to an Ultegra 8000 chain set for this testing.
@@gplama oh duh! Didn't even think about bottom bracket compatability...

@@DavidR8 Look back at their track record. Simply forget they exist until (if) they have a product on the market that has a proven track record. YEARS after their Kickstarter launched they're nowhere.
@@gplama Indeed!
I'll keep an eye on them but will likely go with a 4iiii meter of some fashion.
Cool tool
How do you service the bearings on these power meter pedals? Or can you?
I’m not sure.
Thats my concern with pedal powermeters. I always, so far, bought the cheapest pedals from shimano and just replace them. The bodies also wear out..so what then?
You probably just chuck them in the bin for the price you're paying.
Hallo, hat schon irgend jemand ein Teil geliefert bekommen?? Und funktioniert es?
Do you have any update on delivery date ?
I think we can assume they're not going to be on the market any time soon... or maybe ever.
why did they go with Left instead of say doing right hand only pedal powermeter. Im sorry if the question is dumb.
Every single sided power meter does the left. It makes sense for Shimano cranks as the left is easier to get to (and it’s symmetrical). Pedals.... no idea.
Hi me I ask you what does the gain in the app mean?
Likely to scale the numbers up/down.
@@gplama thank you very much this help me a lot🙏
2 years, that's not a long wait for a Kickstarter. Try 4 years for a smart helmet.
Unfortunately when is comes to electronic gadgets by the time a Kickstarter campaign delivers it's probably outdated in many ways.
Hopefully I get the dual sided mtbs in July, that would be cool.
Quick question, anyone received there pedals ? I have seen those in sell, and review seem pretty descent as long as they exist 😅 ?
This is an ongoing mess/nightmare/etc.
@@gplama thx alot for the reply :)
Any idea on the timing for the MTB version?
No indication.
