    Pretty cool to know that you were actually testing these pedals at the time!
    That gravel event was insane and I pretty much walked up the whole way on that section of 20% in muddy conditions. I think I just made the cut by about 10 minutes as no one else arrived at the rest station (after I'd rested for ~10mins).
    I even did the Medio Fondo (60km on the Great Ocean Road) the next day and managed to finish 19th! I was pretty happy with that! 😁

    My second pair of faveros just got an expedo upgrade. I went with CXR’s this time which are almost as wide as shimano pedals but not these! These look as stable as xtr feels . The expedo titanium body’s where so slim they barley gave anything to stand on and did not last long. Its very cool favero thought of that and provide affordable replacement’s. About a year ago expedo was sold out of all pedals that could be used for faveros and I ended up wearing road shoes all summer. I was clip clopping in and out of offices and always got looks. Everyone assumed I was someone wearing heels and not a delivery driver dropping off packages. 😅

      I've had two whole replacements from Garmin, they still squeak enough to actually ruin solo rides because it drives me insane. I have to completely cover them in white lithium grease to stop it. It makes them so dirty, so annoying. The Garmins are also loose. I'll definitely get these when they are in stock. Garmin makes a good power meter, but a terrible terrible terrible spd pedal. I've also had Shimano SPD pedals since the 90s and I have never had a pair that squeaked.

It seems to start happening after the first 100km of riding maybe, but once it starts, it never ends. It's incessant, it's loud, it's super annoying. I spray white lithium grease on the entire pedal, both sides, before every ride now. Well, hopefully I never have to do that again.

    Other than left /right balance info, there does not seem much to gain in going for duos. Everything is within a few watts and repeatable with the single sided systems or unos etc. Am I missing something. Most of the time I am looking at training repeatability, the numbers could be anything as long as repeatable. OK sure it is nice to know how you stack up against others I guess, but even the one sided solution is offering fantastic accuracy beyond drive chain loss.

    Running gravel shoes and can’t see myself changing but the few hundreds saving on the mod is nice.

    Hi Shane, how do you find installation and removal of these pedals? Recently 8mm hex is de-facto standard but this pedals requires pedal wrench or spanner. That can be a deal breaker for me. I think nobody is really able to properly torque them... though I do have pedal wrench torque adaptor which I hate to use. (need torque conversion or calc so never be accurate, like you do with ChatGPT.)
    Also I have really bad experience from spanner to remove pedals. Cutting hands by chainring when removing pedals, or strip pedal axle.
    With dedicated pedal wrench the angle of torquing is quite safe but it's really hard to source outside my house a day before event, so probably will use such as 17cm spanner as you do in the video. I am simply terrified by it... And powermeter is in pedal axle so I don't wanna strip it.

      @@gplama Thanks. I do have long dedicated pedal wrench but it's not portable so probably will purchase shorter one to make the technique works (I don't think it works with non-angled wrench). Just ordered Pro MX-2. Wish they work good for me too.

    Hi Shane do you have a video comparing the readings of a dual powermeter vs a single sided one? i know dual is more accurate but is there a big difference in the accuracy?

    • @gplama
      @gplama  7 месяцев назад +1

      Single sided is accurate for what it measures. That being just the left side. If you’re 50/50 balanced at all times on the bike (nobody is), it’ll be spot on. For everything else you’ll have a power number that’ll be pretty close to what you’re doing, but you can never be sure. There’s a whole can of worms here that gets opened and argued about on forums.

    the Quarq and its MagicZero can produce such an anomalies... (this is why i dont like them, the latest v10 fw is not perfect) as i checked, You had a shorter stop, maybe the unit got sunlight and got warmer , started, there was a long coasting at 2:29, it adjusted the the MZ the wrong offset (maybe) due to the wrong temp measurement (by the previous stop's effect), and it remained on it till the next autozero or manual zero. The Quarq is using much older (and dumber) strain gauges then the Assiomas or the Power2Max NG series, this is why these are always pinpoint (if the static/slope accuracy is perfect), and this is why the Quarqs not (even the AXS neither)...
