Does anyone know what Edge Mapfields #3 is? I get #1 is the main for 1040 and #2 is for 540/840, but #3…?
Anyone wanting to use three of these fields on one page.
When I installed and configured this on my 840, it actually did put 4 data points in each of the two data boxes. Those were too small to read, and I could not figure out how to reduce the number to two for each data box. Any advice?
Hey, how can I setup that I will see map during climbing in climb pro? I have 540 and Im not able to set it up.. Thanks!
Why do we need a map on screen at all. Just want the climb part and the bottom part.
I personally think that’s really useful. Quite often on a climb there is a turn and when on an effort simple mind often forgets the turn 😊
As someone who races, it really helps to know exactly what turn’s coming up so I can position myself properly and stay safe too 👍🏻
Or... why i cant just choose what I want on that screen?
Because I have a nice big 1040 screen to fill up
Often there is a fork in the road and you can easily go stright instead of turning or vice versa and deviate from the climb/route/segment
Hi sir what can you say about magene qed power meter? Is it lighter too? Thanks
I’m annoyed that ClimbPro doesn’t work in free ride on Edge 830… Why do I need a new device for that? 🤦♂️
Thanks Shane, very informative.
However, when i go through the rpocess i always get a repeat of the same data on the left and right.....or a singe data fieldc on one side and 2 on the other....any thoughts form anyone???
Hmm... Might be one for the developer to answer. I'm not sure.
Ok, I got the four small fields set up. But, how do you get the route map to show above the climb profile? I can't seem to change the Climb Pro current upper display of Dist to Go, Asc. Remain and Grade Remain.
Apparently it only does this for ClimbPro in free riding on the 1040. Something thy should add to ClimbPro when following a route too, imo.
@@gplama Ah, I have a 840 Solar. Sometimes I miss a route turn because Climb Pro jumped up. I thought you might have had another app running to get the map display above the climb profile. Thank you for all the great videos.
Hi, I cannot find "Mapfields" but there is a Mapfields #1 .
What's the difference between Mapfields #1 , Mapfields #2, Mapfields #3 ?
Which one should I install on a 1050 ?
Thanks Shane. How did you get the map on the climb pro screen please?
Looks like that might only be a 1040 thing.
On my 1040 the map is also missing on the climb pro screen. Anyone know how to activate this?
@@gplama on the 840 the map is shown in freeride, but not when using a route.
@@ddxleoncuprar @gplama seems to be using a route with ClimbPro and map both visible (see 5:50 for example)
@@gplama On my 1040, I don't have the map on climb pro page. beta firmware.
I have a question, on the edge 840 will it only show 2 fields or 4 as you show in image 4:12?
It is great that we have those custom field apps, but is it possible to disable this stupid "Climb starting" countdown? It drives me nuts that I can't see my power anymore unless I tap on this. And then this useless "Climb!" green box that appears for too long as well. What are those for, for people that want to measure their climb performance progression on local climbs or what?
Can you get wind info on wahoo roam v2?
brill
And what happened with iGSPORT 800, review ???
Still in progress. As I've replied to someone else here already tonight - The iGS800 is simply not ready for release. There's so many things wrong with it they needed to spend another six months fixing things before launching. There's some unfixable hardware issues too. The review will be out sometime soon. It's not great.
Wish Garmin would do something for the aged/bifocal people where the tiny letters are so difficult to read
Sometimes I think UI designers at Garmin never rode their units outside; just seeing it on CIQ simulator sitting in their offices in Bangalore 😞The UI/UX is sooooo bad, especially in Workout screens - too small font even though a lot of not used space (=wasted space)
@@Jarek. EXACTLY MY WORDS! And fonts are terrible too - I wouldn't be surprised at all if they started using italics/cursive font. Garmin logic is, why do things right and simple when you don't have to. UI is just pain to use, its chaotic and after a 1year experience im still not to used to it because probably its not possible, especially when one screen use cross in bottom right to exit another use touch on middle of the screen to exit and another is using arrow on top left corner to exit - i think they should fire that designer with severe schizophrenia.
What camera are you using for your ride in this video
Insta360 X4
Hi is there an app that will connect your Garmin Explore 2 to you Di2 system? Bike is set up to connect to my previous head unit 520 edge
One for Garmin Support. I don't believe the Edge Explore 2 can connect to Di2 ANT like other Edge units.
don't you find the wind direction points all over the place?
it really shouldn't. the data is coming from the stations near your location so as long as they are accurate, the arrow shouldn't jump around
@@windfieldapp i think its the bike computer not having a consistent view of North rather than the 3rd party data )mpt your datafield, I use a different one)
Where does it get the information about the wind? It is accurate?
See the link in the video description for all the details about WindField.
Using 1040, how do I change the specific data fields? Mine currently has speed, cadence, Ascent and HR. Shane’s had 3s Pwr. Thanks for sharing.
2:07 Garmin Connect IQ App, go to the settings for the data field and tap each field ex. Upper right/left, etc. It gives you the option to replace each one
@@gordonconrod7628 Thank you - most helpful.
which 2 fields (of the 4 you can configure) are shown on the smaller devices?
The two left fields.
@@gplama thank you!
I can’t even see the original fields let alone 4 fields
Hey GP how can I turn this off as it comes up during my rides constantly and is annoying I suppose my climb pro is set to auto?
Just switch it to off in the profile setup.
Thanks!
Is there a way to mount the insta 360 that is at least moderately "aero"? :)
If you're worried that much about aero/performance/speed, leave the cameras at home.
@@gplama haha, fair enough. Guess I was wondering actually how do you mount it at all? Without it bothering you?
I used a selfie stick mounted to the bars. It’s not ideal and only there for making videos like this. The under-side mount on the computer mount is much better for everyday riding.
Hi Shane, do you know of anyway (on an Edge Explore2) to increase the size of blue location arrow and the history line on the map? I just find them too small, regards from Italy (escaping Ballarat’s winter) !
There’s a file hack to change the position triangle. Not sure about the line thickness though. I’ll dig more into this when I get the chance.
@@gplama did you ever publish anything on manipulating the triangle?
@@m5paeplow Not yet. It’s over on the Garmin forums if you want to dig into the details.
So does free ride for climb pro work on a 1030 edge +? My standard climb pro comes up if I scroll through the pages, it doesn’t come up automatically but map fields doesn’t come up at all?
No. It’s an x40 series only feature for free riding.
@@gplama awesome, thanks Shane for replying. Keep up the great videos 👌
You only get 2-4 data fields on your climbing screen? Wahoo blows that out of the water.
What annoys me about the wahoo climbing screen is that a lot of the screen is taken up by elapsed time which I find of no use.
Can these climb apps run off a tablet? You could mount an ipad on the bars to have more real estate to see more data.
Please don’t do that.
I would slap a Macbook Pro on the bars.
How is it useful to have anything displayed in such small characters on that screen? Who can actually make any of that out while pedaling? 😒
Works for me. The data shown is bigger than MapDashboard which a lot of people happily use.
I can see it clearly on my 1040 and i have a poor vision so… 💁🏻
I'm a middle aged man and can still read all the data on my Edge 1030.
Just tried it on my 1040 but on my unit the datafiels looks horrible. Very blurry around the edges of the numbers and letters.
