As a gay man, I do have a nice life, I also can’t hold my boyfriends hand in public and have had to leave bars because of being threatened by straight men because they heard I was gay as were scared I would hit on them… so not easy.
Being gay isn’t easy……. That’s ridiculous. It’s just so short sighted and simplistic - I just think people are only voting for financial gain and money. I just find it incredibly selfish.
The fact that ppl are voting for financial gain and money says a lot about how individualism in America has become far too rampant. Capitalism has gone way too far and Trump winning is a reflection of that as well as our lack of funding towards good public education.
I wish that was reason but no they are voting to oppress those they don't like. They are trying to oppress trans and immigrants and minorities etc. They want trump to build a wall and punish people. They are sick
@@cryingcarrots I've been physically asulted for being gay and I live in a country far more accepting of it than America is this is commonplace stuff man. Gay people in America have a non negligible amount of their population who would happily see them killed for living the way they do many of them say it openly and proudly. You're delusional if you think that would be easy on anyone.

Every gay kid experiences CPTSD it’s unavoidable. We don’t recognise, treat or heal it as a community. Growing up knowing that you are gay, and that your family, friends and society may abandon you if they find out is trauma and it’s a trauma that is normalised by not only people around us but ourselves.
Gay man from Kentucky, my life has never been easy and I’m 19. Being harassed any time I express myself through makeup or clothes IS NOT EASYYY. People in states like California and New York truly don’t understand how different and difficult it is being in a red southern state as a gay man and isolated with no support or help, I’m all on my own.
As a late-30’s lesbian from Kentucky with a gay younger brother, I see you and I hear you. I have said for years that many progressives from liberal parts of the country just do not understand what the rural queer experience is like. And no matter how far we have come, the homophobia is inescapable here. It always has been. This is a time that we must cling to one another and care for our brothers, sisters, and siblings. We have community here in spite of it all, and I hope that you can find it in your part of the state. Lean on those around you that you know you can trust and do not give up hope. And if all else fails, know that I am and will support you from Central KY. We’re internet strangers, but we are kin. And I truly mean that. 💙 I hope you are doing okay.
38 year old gay man here who grew up in a horribly conservative, rural hub in Northern California. The trauma of growing up gay happens everywhere and needs to end. Bless you and please don’t ever give up!
19 year old gay/asexual from Maryland. Where I grew up was “liberal” but very hateful and homophobic. My mom raised in me in very Christian and catholic spaces, and looking back I realize how suffocated I felt. Like I was existing, but not actually breathing. I get it. My family is full of narcissistic hypocritical Christians that are terrible people, but get a pass because they’re conventional 🙄. I was just starting to find myself, let go of religion because it was the cause of my depression, and growing into my queerness. Now I’m not sure
I grew up gay in NY. I was gay bashed. I was called names. I was harassed. I was disowned by family. This idea that all of NY, the third largest state, is just like NYC is a fantasy. It's hard for every gay person.

As a mostly straight man, it’s absurd to think you can’t get along with your partner because they’re a different sex and gender from you. Like no, there’s nobody I’d rather face the world with than my wife
I love this for you 💕 That dude is less than smart he is literally just talking about the teenage puberty weirdness of a guy needing to learn to talk to the opposite sex. He’s obviously single
That guy needs a reality check , he has too much free time, he says all of this when he is in no position of being in any minority group, he doesn't have to worry about his rights. You handled it really well Tinx❤️✨️
It’s crazy sometimes i wonder why and how this could be anyone’s reality that some ppl are the “normal ones” and then there’s minorities and that these have to be suppressed and outcasted
What does “easier to connect” have to do with the way society treats us???? If it’s criminalized again….it doesn’t fucking matter how much easier it is for us to get along and newsflash: it isn’t any easier to date or find a partner
Literally I just wrote a letter to one of my (few) straight guy friends expressing how grateful I am for his kindness and support, despite the teasing he may get for being friends with a “fruit”
It isn't *even* easier to connect though? We make up 1/5th of the population as a whole community *at most* , and the chances of finding someone within your demographic is even lower than that, and finding a partner is even less likely than that. Like, I just don't understand how anyone would come to this conclusion.
And besides that, within the gay community is not like you get along with everybody . Our dating pool and chances of finding a partner are waaaaay more narrow than in the straight world.
In a few countries you still get sentenced to death for it, and in this one, even if you can't get legally sentenced to death, certain states turn their heads the other way when a queer kid mysteriously dies or disappears.
I challenge that caller to pretend to be gay for 6 months and find out how easy it is. He doesn't have to act out anything gay, because he's clearly not, but tell everyone that he's gay now and see how his family and friends treat him.
I actually heard this happen in real life, this Mormon woman and Mormon man are friends, and then she revealed to him she is a lesbian and she cried about it, the Mormon guy tried to make her feel better by lying and saying that he is gay. This Mormon guy pretended to be gay for like a year(or somewhere around a year), and was surprised by all the hate gays received because he assumes gays have it easy, even the Mormons he was friends with that say they don't hate gays would hate on him too. It's been a while since I heard about this so I forgot some details, I think he might have wrote a book about this but I could be wrong about that too. I only remember the basic details which I just gave away.
The second man, Anthony, was an absolute gem and so appreciate his sharing of his experiences and real talk. And your emotional response to him in thinking about your friends was really meaningful and genuine.
Romance is difficult for everybody. I doubt this guy knows any gay people. He made this assumption out of ignorance. One could make the argument that there are fewer gay people in the population overall to match with. Straight people have better odds of matching than we do. And as a gay man, I personally get along better with women. 😂
Straight people get to express their sexual orientation from VERY early ,while gays can't even get a handshake from their crush😒 these bozos are so privileged and don't even realize it
I'd bet that bisexuality is actually the most common around the world. There's just no way of ever knowing what's really going on in people's heads, so stats will never be accurate.
That caller has zero clue…… he should shut the hell up. It’s not easy being gay in any country, I know as a gay man. Even harder for our trans brothers and sisters. I worry for the reproductive health of all woman going forward. Keep up the great work, keep fighting for the rights and freedoms of those that may not have a voice. All the best from Melbourne Australia ❤
I'm gay, and living in SouthEast Asia. Oh boy, if I could only choose to be straight, I'd be straight in no time. Straight people say it's easy to be LGBT without experiencing the homophobia. There's no law protecting us from discrimination and harassment. There's no same sex marriage or even civil union. IT IS NOT EASY.
Even in America we have to constantly fight for our rights they did give us because they are constantly being under attack. Thanks to trump's supreme court picks companies now have freedom of religion and can openly discriminate against gays and refuse us admission, services and goods just for us being gay. Throughout southern US you will see the no gays allowed signs and its all legal
The irony, is that for most of southeast Asian history, over thousands of years, prior to western col… it was celebrated, and in some cases encouraged😂.
@@xx133 Yes, that's true, we had Babaylans in ancient times who were transgenders and healed people by rituals. Because of western colonization, our ancient languages, forms of writing, books, and culture were destroyed.

Straight guys are afraid of gay guys until they get to know them a bit, but most of the time they dip out before that happens. People will always be afraid of the unfamilliar.
Well first, being attracted to the same sex does not mean relationships are easier whatsoever. Statistics show that gay relationships are harder than straight relationships because our relationships are not encouraged. We don’t get to experience relationships throughout high school middle school they’re not validated also most gay men don’t have good relationships with other men because most men bully and harassed gay men for being who they are so this is a dumb take stop speaking on gay issues if you haven’t lived that experience.
He's the type of guy to be jealous of gay men because he thinks it's easier to get sex with men compared to women, then bases his opinion around one concept like that 😂
Exactly, and even if we pretend that the social stigma and bigotry didn't exist, you'd still have issues and conflicts with any person you build a relationship with, romantic or otherwise. His statement kid of implies that he doesn't respect women enough as people to build a proper relationship with them, which is probably the reason why he thinks dating them is so much harder
They speak ignorantly because there is an ideation of "victimhood" among American conservatives (although it's fair to say it's an American trait in general--maybe fair to say a human trait). They blame the immigrants, the LGBT, the black people and the women for their own shortcomings. They crave the "victim" status of those groups who have been legitimately stigmatized and hurt over the years, and so they claim that those minorities somehow have more rights than them in order to swap the "victim" narratives. The identity of a victim is very convenient because it displaces the blame of shortcomings away from the individual, instead making their own failures the result of a system, or in this case, a set of minority groups. The deep irony being that these people are indeed victims, but they are victims of the billionaire class that bankrolled both the Trump and Harris campaigns and would no doubt continue to enrich themselves regardless of which party won. Will the Trump people wake up and realize that conservatives never have their best interests at heart? Will the Democrats wake up and realize that they need to be a party that opposes Republicans' ideology? I doubt it to both.
I love how he emphasizes "easier to connect with the same sex" then jumping to the conclusion that makes easier yet fails to actually process that the gay person has to go through multiple steps just to even be with another gay person far as facing discrimination from others, their own families, meeting another gay person, and other reasons I can't immediately think of also just because you're gay doesn't mean you know everyone else who is, your pool is so much smaller. It can actually suck how compatible men are with each other because there are so many friendships that gay men have had with straight men where they develop a crush but could never dare to express that because it can make things awkward or the person coming out could get a visceral response so that "perk" actually has a huge downside or it could be a situation where you find out your crush is closeted which complicates things further.
Straight dating culture & sexism play a huge role in why straight men/women have issues connecting & communicating. Being a gay couple in a room full of straight ones is very uncomfortable & feels like I'm on another planet lol
This guy says "educated voter" and then word after word proves he didn't pay attention in school. This guy suffers from dunning Kruger and will never ever understand why he is wrong.

My mom used to think being gay was a choice till I pointed out to her that no one would chose to wake up and have to deal with all this hate, why would anyone chose to have a harder life? It would be so much easier to just be straight and play sports and find a wife.. so much easier.
Men who think like that first guy don't see women as people, and don't respect their rights to their own bodies. THAT is why he thinks gay relationships are so much easier, because at least with a man he respects them enough to care about their opinions and interests.

To say there is ‘nothing’ easy about being gay is just not true. I’m gay I have a successful job, loving parents and a nice house. I’m not invalidating anyone else’s experiences but don’t presume to tell me that I’ve had a hard life. You do not speak for an entire community.

For someone to say the same for the LGBT+ community in the United States really speaks to their ignorance on the issue.
Being gay, especially in a deep red state in the Deep South, in the Bible Belt is extremely hard and dangerous. As a gay man in Southwest Louisiana, I’ve experienced countless acts of violence both physical and verbal since even BEFORE I knew I was gay. I’m 28 now, and I still receive verbal harassment by strangers on the street, I still get scared when I’m in predominantly straight spaces like non-gay bars. I don’t find it easier to get along with straight men compared to straight women. Even the few straight men interact with daily, coworkers, who I get along with but still deal with micro aggressions from their conversations, how they act when during discussions anything slightly “gay” is brought up. It’s not easy. It never has been.

Being gay isn't easy whether you're a gay man or a lesbian. As a gay person, interacting with the same sex is so difficult because they'll always assume things about you. They'll assume that you're attracted to them, that you're attracted to everyone you see, that you're aggressive, that you're gay because you're traumatized, that you're confused. Especially for us gay people who don't conform. For gay men who are feminine or butch lesbians. As a butch lesbian it's so hard for me to interact with other women because they assume I'm aggressive, or that I want to be a man, or that I'm the equivalent of a man and that I'll try to take advantage of them. Other women are less likely to include me in anything. To other women, I'm intimidating and I find that I'm walking on egg shells constantly. It just makes life and being social so much harder and lonlier.
As a gay man, I wish I could find just somebody... because there's nobody. Only 1 in 7 are gay, and those odds themselves make it so difficult. Image if almost every person that you fall in love with ends up being a sexuality that is incompatible with yours, how would that feel? If you couldn't find... anyone?
Being gay is not easy at all. And loving someone of the same sex? Sir, gay men aren't even dating each other like that. But that is a conversation for another time.
I understand your pain, my mother not only prays but believes my attraction to other women is a demonic spirit. It’s so infuriating. No matter if you’re religious or not, you should feel safe in both your beliefs and in your attractions 🫂🎀
The caller seems to confuse social friendships with sexual attraction. Being different to the majority is never easy. I’m glad he called and initiated the discussion but he should have respectfully stayed until the end to validate his willingness for the discussion. He should go beyond discussions by hanging out with some marginalised people for a few months to experience what we feel. As much as I appreciate discussion, being put in the firing line provides an entirely different perspective.
its insane to think that Americans have their gun law that says they can shoot someone if they step onto their property without the owners consent, yet they seem to be more interested on a woman's choice on their own body (if its in them, their fetus/baby) to get an abortion.
He speaks pretty clearly, but the logical leaps are wild. It's basic critical reasoning. How can he not realize that one aspect being potentially easier does NOT mean being gay as a whole is easier? Women had doors held open for them, but they couldn't get bank accounts, vote, and died in childbirth. So being a woman is easier because of one thing?
Wow , I’m Irish when I was about 14 and looking around seeing what the future held for me , getting married having kids etc . Then I realised that there was another world for me . I was so excited that I was different . For me being gay was and is totally me.
The caller is using a social perspective to equate rights, but they aren't the same. As a gay man, yes I have other male friends, but that doesn't mean that my rights are the same as others. We still get hate and looks from others. Why can't I have the same rights as straights? And no, it is NOT easier being gay in America. Try to live in our shoes for one day and you'll see a huge difference.
I haven’t even finished his take yet on gay/trans people but the argument that people make towards the LGBTQ+ community or any community for that matter where you accepting and embracing yourself as being a choice in what your identity is is so misconstrued which is ridiculous to me. Just scratch the surface a bit more and you’ll get to the answer. Also, the comments made about it being easier to be gay when you develop same sex attractions coming from a homosexual man when I had my first crush on my best friend in middle school in no way was it easy. I had nothing to relate to because none of my guy friends were into the hobbies, shows, music, etc. I was nor did we have the same romantic experiences. I related more to women who were the opposite sex. This idea is so flawed.
Just want to say that I have so much respect for your ability to disagree with civility the DAY AFTER the election when so many of us were in the acute phase of grief. On this caller’s topic of “it being easier to be gay”, I think it’s actually glosses over reality to allow for his cognitive dissonance: if you study attachment theory, you know that many gay folks would have insecure attachment figures from childhood (as do lots of people across all ages, races, and genders). Just because I get along with women and have a deeper innate understanding of what it means to be a woman, doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t bring my the insecure patterns that I learned within my family system to a romantic attachment figure. That rationale dismisses the reality of so many queer people around the world, and I truly think you dealt with this caller very graciously.
“In June, 2020, the Trump administration repealed all health care regulations that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. These regulations prohibited discrimination over a wide range of services, including the provision of public and private health insurance, including Medicaid, the benefit design practices of health insurance issuers covered by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and services offered by the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly.” This isnt a hypothetical. Trump has in fact already eroded gay rights.
5:32 what. A. Toddler. He really went on about how having best friends of the same sex makes it objectively easier as a gay person.... Then just hung up after he said his little epiphany. Wowee.
Why are straight men so obsessed with gay people, womens rights, and trans rights etc. Can they not just live , inflict and invest in their own life!
Because they think that giving people equal rights is an infringement on theirs, like it’s sharing a pie. They’re afraid of losing the monopoly on power and the status quo changing. It’s gross.
Internalized hate for themselves that they project onto marginalized groups. Also known as punching down. It’s a low ball tactic.

And the worst part is they wont get it.

Her face when that guy is talking about gay people and trans rights... Priceless and honest.
That caller has zero clue…… he should shut the hell up. It’s not easy being gay in any country, I know as a gay man. Even harder for our trans brothers and sisters.

Yeah he was very ignorant about that which makes sense because he's straight but Jesus Christ that was so bad 😂. He was lacking a large understanding of how dynamics work.
Straight men are very ignorant. Willfully. The vast majority of them🙄
Straight guys are afraid of gay guys until they get to know them a bit, but most of the time they dip out before that happens.
Misogyny is real. Homophobia is real. Racism is real.

Frrr majority of my friends in high school were girls because I was never comfortable around guys my age.
Yup. I get along with women better than men. As a man.

Hi, I'm based in London, England, I just caught your video, I just like to say it was very informative and inspiring.
When I told my Mom I also like Women she said she was praying for me. The judgement doesn’t end.
I understand your pain, my mother not only prays but believes my attraction to other women is a demonic spirit. It’s so infuriating. No matter if you’re religious or not, you should feel safe in both your beliefs and in your attractions 🫂🎀
Thank you so much for touching in these topics
It is definitely NOT easy being gay, whoever said it's easy, doesn't know how difficult it is, I myself am a gay man.
you are so well spoken on the spot and I appreciate you
Trans is a choice?!? Gay is easier?!? WTF!!!
Ok we need to start human sacrifices again.
Thank you Anthony for sharing. ❤
These regulations prohibited discrimination over a wide range of services, including the provision of public and private health insurance, including Medicaid, the benefit design practices of health insurance issuers covered by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and services offered by the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly.”
This isnt a hypothetical. Trump has in fact already eroded gay rights.
5:32 what. A. Toddler. He really went on about how having best friends of the same sex makes it objectively easier as a gay person.... Then just hung up after he said his little epiphany. Wowee.
What happens when trumps SC comes for marriage equality? Are people like this caller going to stand up for us?
The 1st guy was so triggered, he couldn't take the truth and your insight on these issues. He's such a coward
It is wild to me to act like crying and declare to others that you are crying.
As a gay man all my friends were girls growing up......
Love the tone of your conversations.
