The beginning!!!
I will always love Ash and Pikachu and I will miss seeing them on screen. But Liko seems interesting, she’s completely opposite to Ash (more like how Goh was as a kid). I’m interested to see her grow, while I know she may not be exactly like Ash but it will be interesting to see her grow her own way. Sprigito is cute as well how peaceful they are, kinda gives off vibes of Ash’s Pikachu from Episode 1 (just less violent disobedience) and it is just interesting.
I hope we see more of the school aspect like In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games. We did see a Pokemon School in Sun and Moon as well as Pokemon Journeys. While in Sun and Moon it highlighted more of the whole Alola region, and the Pokemon School in Pokémon Journeys was just in 2-3 episodes while only having at least 1 episode where it was 95% of the episode was in the school.
For Pokémon Horizon Episode 1, I am interested and open into watching more! I am honestly more interested watching it when it comes out in English dub!!!
But I am open to watch Liko and Sprigito Journey (while I do wish Liko was from Kanto and the school was in Paldea)

After seeing Ash blindly fall for Team Rocket's disguises, I liked Liko realizing that Amethio is suspicious and instead of just taking the pendant and going with him, she instead tries to run away with the pendant instead. It's so refreshing to have a more perceptive protagonist!
Well her grandma gave her the pendant so liko is probably wondering why all of a sudden is she asking for it back
@@UmbreonDarkness69 Yea. But after dealing with Ash falling for Team Rocket's obvious disguises for 20ish years, it's nice to have a protagonist that realizes obvious bull💩 when she hears it.
@Jadeazora pikachu fell for the disguises too 🤣🤣. Likos sprigatito instantly didn't like Amethio. Should we say that Liko is already a better character than Ash? 🤔🤔🤔

I like how both Liko and Ash say that their starter Pokémon are cute and then it immediately attacks them 😅
At least Liko just a small scratch. Ash got electrocuted multiple times over haha
Honestly, the number of times this episode did that bugged me it felt like it was trying too hard.
Just think, maybe one day Liko and Sprigatito could be legends just like Ash and Pikachu
Riko is so relatable. The way she can't find the courage to talk to others even when they share intetests, the way she's constantly nervous around others and how people don't understand her.
And of course the way she often talks to herself to sort her thoughts and feelings out. Even the face she makes when stressed about Sprigatito running away.
I make a similar face when I'm heading somewhere while stressed. At this point Riko is just me ^^' I'm just worried that they'll make her "special" and OP, like Ash was, with her pendant.
Pretty much my thoughts exactly, on all fronts. I think Liko will one day be treated as "special," but I liked this episode so much because it made her seem normal, not special haha
@@EliteTrainerMark Well I hope she'll stay normal, but considering how poorly written Ash was, I'm afraid her pendant will be her literal plot armor and that it'll protect her from everything.
I want to hope she'll be properly written, but I can't stop thinking about how this might go wrong. Ash was not so well written and I'm afraid she'll become the same.
From the beginning, I thought a unique and mysterious pendant was a red flag for a Mary Sue, but for now it's not the case. I guess we'll just have to hope it doesn't change.
@@Oceane1803 it was a life endangering situation. the attack would have killed her. so no. it won´t be a Mary sue.
It's kinda ironic the season about a region based around school has them going to school outside that region
I think Horizons just so happens to start while Scarlet and Violet are the current games, I don't necessarily think it's going to be about Paldea at all. But I do hope we get to see some of the cool areas in Paldea

The writers really did very well in the first two episodes.
Their escape is the same route as the route Riko took on the very first day, Riko jumped at the end of the first episode because she wanted to divert the fight away from her school building showing how she's introverted but definitely not timid, Riko thought she had entered the wrong room at first probably as trainers get their own bedroom in the Paldea school region (the games), Sprigatito really behaves like an actual cat. In the second episode we see Riko protecting all the pokemon on board too. She's cleverer than Ash in a way that she pretends to chide Sprigatito hissing at the bad guy, but knows right away something's wrong about him in her room, and has to escape without help from teachers (remember it's holiday period). She still writes and draws by hand!
emmm I think before the English dub comes out it'll be nice to follow how the original Japanese dub says her name as 'Liko' not 'Lyko'...
Honestly I loved this beginning, im definitely hooked and cant wait to see what unfolds as the story continues

Personally really liked Liko and Anne's characters. Hope we see Anne more, Would love if she randomly gets Hisuian Samurott later (Just cus wynaught?)

I really like Riko and her Sprigatito so far, but my favorites are definitely Anne and her Oshawott (I really hope they can be recurring characters)

I actually liked the slow and gradual pacing for this episode. It allowed us to actually feel out the vibes of the characters. One big problem with Journeys was that everything seemed rushed. It looks like the writers learned from their mistakes.
Let's see if that pacing continues, I like the slow paced episodes so they can build towards the fast paced ones... Journeys just went with fast paced episodes all the time, which wasn't ideal

Different writers actually for Horizons. Also Dai Sato is overseeing the scripts I have faith in his work cuz he was the overseer for Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Eureka Seven and Wolf's Rain
Most people say that they hate anime but love pokemon. POKEMON IS ANIME!!!
Finally got to watch it! Very exciting for the rest of the series. I don't think it was too slow paced though, if anything I wasn't expecting for the first episode to progresses so rapidly - it looks like basically a full semester went through giving how they mention having a long break from school.
I already like Liko as a character so much! I agree that she's got great potential. Great review btw!

Looks pretty good. I will say im looking foward to seeing this series and hopefully well see more quaxly. If i was in that class, my starter (outside froakie treecko and charmander) would be sobble since its very underrated
I'm not sure what my starter would be, especially since it looks like the students didn't get to choose themselves

Also being a huge Rockruff and Oshawott fan I am glad two characters own them and Sprig is just too damn cute!!! 😍

@EliteTrainerMark it was interesting. It started off rather slow, and unlike Ash, Liko has no goal in mind. This could go a lot of different ways.
Also, unlike Ash, she is obviously important and not some rando haha. I'm curious in how that pendant relates to Rayquaza.

@WindzLeftYT people are saying rayquaza is linked to liko though. I also read somewhere that liko terras the rayquaza too but we'll see in the coming weeks

The only things I don't like about Horizons would be the school not being in Paldea and Friede not having an Armarouge. Could've had a sick Armarouge/Ceruledge rivalry

I wish that Friede's two most prominent Pokémon were not Pikachu and Charizard, but I can understand why they are. Even if they have been overexposed in the anime, they are two of the most marketable Pokémon they could give to a new character in the anime
