The color was because these were used a lot in North Africa. This tan color would blend in with the sand better that the grey that they would have been in Europe. I have ordered one and waiting for its arrival. Now to find a German action figure to put behind the wheel! Fun fact, a captured Kubelwagen was sent back to the US and served as the blueprint for the Jeep.

Fun vid. Decent crawler. Military vehicles fine. Can’t deny realness and function of significant parts of car/truck history. Embrace. Doesn’t mean your pro war. Peace.
I really like how you preview your RC's, with so much info and so clearly said 👍. Can not wait to see how you will modify this, and will look forward to that video 👌
@@AMPROEngineering As a german I have to admit that you pronounced "Kommandeurwagen" very good for someone from the U.S👍. In case you're unfamilar with the meaning of this word, it basically translates as "Commando Car" or something similar.
Love your style of reviewing - objective, straight to the point with no artificially elevated tone and excitement and of course, no silly background music. For the quality of content you put out, you should have a lot more subscribers than you do, but you will get there. With regards to the car itself, I think people compare it with a crawler or try and drive it over oversized obstacles. If this car was driven on terrain and obstacles at scale with what the life size car could handle, then you will find the performance very acceptable. I have the jeep and jimny so I have a sense of what they can or cannot do. I'm getting the kubelwagen and kommanderwagen now, FMS is running a sale on these vehicles.
Yes I agree. If you run this with scale in mind, it is totally acceptable. I run it on trails a lot and totally love it. Ill have a video posted soon of how the car looks now.
"You will see this car very, very soon..." Promises!!! 😭😭😭 😛 Love your "reviewing style". Comprehensive and neutral. 👍 Just ordered one of these. Can't wait for it to arrive and to see what you'll make yours to look like. I'm planing on "de-militarizing" mine into a classy shiny black and chrome version. 🤩
Alberto. I thought of you right away when i first saw this bug unveiled. it was only a matter of time on this one. looking forward to seeing how you do it up.
Great review. I watched this prior to buying mine. This car looks fantastic in person, exactly as I expected. Only one problem ... I can't get mine to go in reverse. :( Hopefully it isn't something simple that I'm doing wrong but don't you just push the throttle in the opposite direction? I did try moving the #1 dip switch back and forth to try to go between the FWD/REV/BRK mode and the FWD/REV mode. Still no luck. Can't find anything in a search online.
hmmmm...that is odd. I would reach out to see if there is a problem with the car. I have not had any electrical issues on any of my FairRC cars minus a fried motor after a day of running.
I think we have the technology, at this stage of our mold making and fabricating abilities, to create tiny accordion style boots for the axles. That is the thing that bothers me about the open axle joints and running in lots of grit and sand. Plus it would be just another functional scale detail... You listening FMS/Roc Hobby?
Does the roof section come off? As cool as what can be seen of the interior it would be a shame if you couldn't remove it to see the inside. Between this and the kubelwagen it's hard to imagine what you can do to modify them, but I'll bet money it's going to be outstanding. These look like they would be okay on mild trail driving. But I think you're right that they look like a powered model not so much an RC. Most of my RCs are 1/10 scale but I have 2 Cross RC 1/12 scale (MC6 & MC8). Once I steel your ideas for modifying them I'd like to see how they would fit in on the shelf with the Cross RCs. They are 3 & 4 axle trucks and even though 1/12 are absolutely HUGE.
@@AMPROEngineering yeah, you may need to completely disassemble it to get to the interior panels. But the challenge is always part of the fun. The comment about a sound system for the air-cooled engine sounds would be really cool, if it would fit.
I've been waiting for your review on this, hoping you would get one and now that I know your thoughts on it, off to Amazon I go can't wait to see what you have in store for it!
i am not sure what bugs you been driving but for a bug that is extremely capable that’s like modified jeep off-roading in scale size the beetles are terrible cars and this is a wonderful representation except it performs very well very very well for what it is
This is a model first, RC second. For an RC car, this thing cant do anything. People expect more from an RC so it is important the distinction between RC and Model are clear. For a scale representation of a bug, it is great. For someone thinking that this can behave like a normal RC car, this is not the car for them.
The FMS/RocHobby stuff just keeps getting better and better, at an impressive rate. I'm not quite sure about the Unimog they have coming out though, but I guess that's a smaller scale, so that may be the reason it doesn't look quite as impressive as the bigger ones. Did they add aircooled engine sounds btw? ruclips.net/video/aV7DodJZRDU/видео.html

I had to immediately change the color for the build. Ill have to post that soon.
This is a really cool model! Would make a great Dakar rally car build.
That would be killer. I did totally change it and ill show that soon!
Volkswagen of that time didn't have turn signals they had semaphores on the b pillars
Thats a good point. I also think there was no VW brand when this version was out.

I just dont like the camo look. This is getting a very flamboyant paintjob soon.

Because it is my speed? HAHAH! Should be fun Ron!
Outstanding model!
It really is.
Pretty awesome little bug.
They did a great job.
Great in-depth!! I wonder if those "beadlocks" would allow you to fit them with the face of the rim reversed to make a "Herbie" style wheel...
They will but I wonder if they will stick out too far? it may work!
If you make it dual moter, it becomes a beast! With 2 stock fms moters and stock esc
Oh i bet! Ill have to look at that
Im gonna buy one and build it into a herbie. Hope it works ouf!
That's going to be epic!
Very good , not bad off-road considering tires and height 👊🏻👍🏻
Yeah it does thinks about as well as you would imagine it would in 1:1

Given what they keep making....I would not be surprised to see that soon.
Great review! I’m really enjoying mine! I have been looking for new wheels for it, but haven’t found any. Which wheels are you thinking about using?
I will be designing my own wheels. Probably something with a 70's vibe as this will go to a more fun color scheme.
Anyone else notice how the rear axle dropped down when going into low gear, more ride height also
Yes, it is due to the portal axles. From what I have read, the real ones behave in a similar fashion.
These look amazing, you didn't quite get the rear vents right though :( How much are these on average?
Thanks though I didn't design this. They used to be on sale for $150 but I think they are back to $250 or so.
it has portal axles in the rear. crazy.
it is madness right?

What’s a good price for a new one/and Monica price for a used one? Thanks so much.
TBH I have never seen a used one. I would assume either an almost new one would fetch 20% less than a new one or a more used one is around 50-75%.
