This week Damian takes his magnificent Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe for a VIP tour of the Aston Martin factory at Gaydon, Warwickshire. The day concludes in a high performance simulator at Base Performance. Basically, it’s a good excuse for a full update on the Rolls-Royce - what’s good, what’s bad, and whether it remains in the CarGuys garage? Enjoy, folks.

A known problem in the phantom , and a problem i encountered in my 2010 Coupe was the cover you press to release the idrive control which would sometimes stick. A Majestic car and more special than the more common wraith. In total 781 Phantom Coupes were built of which 124 were RHD ,88 for the UK, compared to 1914 Dropheads of which 296 were RHD 205 for the uk

I guess not being able to film in a car factory is a fairly standard thing. I had a tour of the Volvo factory in Gothenburg, Sweden a couple of years ago and was not allowed to take my cell phone/camera in with me.

Edited to Add ; I would have the driver seat futher back and the drives wheel futher away from the Dash but That Just me.
It’s nice to see cars appreciated as they were made. No usual RUclipsr big exhausts or geresh chrome wraps! Take note Archie! Cool cars are always cool.
It would be sacrilege to modify the Phantom in any way IMHO.
I think DeMuro would need an hour long video to do all the 'quirks and features' of the Phantom.
We'd love to see him do it though
As far as Aston goes the best model in my opinion is the V12 Vantage V600 Coupe (Manual). Ultra limited final edition but absolutely perfect in the same way the Zonda F was the best of that model.

Agree totally, Since DB9/Vanquish, they look like a Korean interpretation of an Aston. Not special anymore, Hence no waiting lists and depreciation like a brick. Reichman needs to go !!!

The Phantom Coupe, I car I dream of owning!
Rather surprised at the difficulty in getting into the Phantom coupe, I drive an 05 Jaguar XJ8 and when you remove the key from the ignition the seat slides all the way back and drops as well as the steering lifting up. The easiest car I have ever got into and out from!
I'm a little surprised that the Phantom does not do something similar, (or maybe it does).

Nice video Damian. Never sure about the Phantom Coupe, but then when you mention how few were made = it makes sense as a touring car keeper. You can pick an early Phantom 4door up now for less than £80k - don't think the coupe will drop as quickly thanks to low numbers.
Agree with you on the Aston's. The DB9 and old Vantage were great. The new DB11 just isn't right (you can see why they have added adapted models so quickly - up against the new Bentley Continental, the Bentley is a far better car at a lower price point), whilst the Vantage is growing on me. OK, its only got the single scroll turbo's, and the styling is overly-complicated, but compared to the ugly Mercedes-AMG GT - it makes the Vantage competitive.
Quite a surprise choice for a guy I associate with high performance Ferrari's, but, as they say, each to his own. I notice also you've changed the reg number, another surprise! :-)
Love the piano wood in that car just top notch do you think that it will be a long term addition then . Oh by the way gave the 997 Turbo the beans on the way down from Scotland back too Blackpool and I got the odd thumbs up from a few ppl which was actually really nice my 13 year old son came al8ng with me too pick it up and loved hit he made me drop him off at his mates house just so he could show off wots ge like.

You're quite right in that! My extremely humble garage contains only 4 classics... but it's a a start. 1953 Buick Super Riviera 2-door hardtop coupe, 1958 Pontiac Bonneville convertible TriPower!, 1998 AC Cobra (replica) and 1999 VW Golf cabriolet. As a daily driver, the XC70 D5 is my trusty friend...

It is not a Rolls Royce except the Ecstasy. It is a souped up BMW 760, in itself a great car. Rolls Royce Engine was its making.
Rolls Royce as Rolls Royce died when it started using the Chrysler Engine under the logo of Rolls Royce. I could hear the difference.

I feel that Aston has lost their unique place in the sports car world. For me the original Vanquish )on a manual box) was the pinnacle of the Aston spirit but now its all a bit meh. I get it, they are chasing the money and right now that is younger buyers. Loving the Phantom Coupe Damian, very cool choice.

MDLambphotos Videos you’d be totally incorrect about iDrive. It is factually better than any other infotainment system available. Any opinion to the contrary is irrelevant.
The iDrive in 2010 is, I'm afraid, pretty dated.

Was the factory tour because you’ve ordered something? Had a great breakfast meet at the factory a few years ago but didn’t get to actually see the cars being built.

So beyond no cameras in Aston's manufacturing area did they make you sign their official secrets act. You say nothing of that tour. The Aston DB11 is made on a small production line by men attached to robots, aren't they.? Brian Johnson took the crew in for his show.

Did Rolls Royce officially confirm that there won't be a new Phantom Coupe? Personally l find it quite disappointing that the coupe or convertible versions are based on the Ghost, why can't they offer both

Should I swap the current 08 BGT Speed for a Phantom vii?
Loving the pace of the Bentley but 2 doors is awkward for using the rear seats.
Testing a phantom it was sublime but quite basic in terms of accoutrements.
Is it time though to give one a try?

I would say, yes - or at least get RR to loan one for a few days to test it first.
Lovely car that drophead and you won't see another one, exclusivity assured, extra points for sub 10k on the clock too !!! , it's barely run in. That has the pre LCI i drive my M3 has the newer version much better, but well out of date now, not that such things bother me, I still buy CDs, none of that download, apple car play, nonsense for me I'm afraid . As for the newer Astons not really a fan, they sound great but in my opinion they are a bit of a parts bin special , the old v8 vantage had quite a few ford and volvo components and the new ones have lots of Mercedes AMG parts, they just seem to have lost their purity, like the old DB5 and DB6. That said I do have a soft spot for the "casino royale , quantum of solace " DBS though.

To end the largest debate in human history: Porsche can only be pronounced "Porsh" when it is a lower tier model, such as a Boxter, Cayanne, etc. If it is a high tier Porsche, Such as the Gts, Turbos, etc, it must be pronounced Porsheh. There is also a gray zone in between, when the cars can be pronounced both ways. Now you know.
