I got my mmi box for my bmw i3 from bavarian automotive as well. Fitted it in and works well :)
Nice one - I know the Mustang already has Android Auto / Apple Car Play but I recently installed the Motorola MA1 Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter to remove the need for USB cables - works a treat 😀😀

Hi, I have just brought 1 of these used on ebay. You mention in your install about setting to aux to get the sound coming through but I haven't got a aux input in my car. Should it still work or do I need to buy something to make it work?

Hello friend, I just bought an 8.8" Coika screen for my 2013 Audi A5 with 3G High nav, I connected everything perfectly like you in the video, but I don't understand why it doesn't give me information about open doors, oil, gasoline, kilometers, speed, etc., etc. Could it be because I didn't connect the 2 cables that go in the Glove Box? I thought it wasn't necessary. My car doesn't have a CD changer or anything in the Glove Box. Thank you very much for help.

I have an A5 3.0 B8.5 with RS5 kit and I am going to install CarPlay and rear camera so I am going to follow your steps to give a modern touch to my Audi A5. What are your thoughts on this after using it for a couple of weeks? I've been wanting to pull the trigger in one of these for a while now.
I have a couple of question..
Is it limited to just car play or will it also run android auto.
Can you add other app to it? (iHeart Radio and podcast apps)

Thanks for watching! After using it for a couple of weeks I think it is excellent! I have had a few "drop outs" where Bluetooth lost connection for a couple of seconds, but then it comes back OK, apart from that, I love it, especially using siri for navigation entry! I'm sure this unit does wired Android auto, you add apps from the settings on your iPhone. Regards.
6 months later and I've finally added android auto to my Audi. Thanks again for your video, it was a big help.
Does your wireless connection stay connected even after you have turned off the car and locked the doors?
My music/podcasts continue to play untill I'm out of range or stop them manually.
How you finding this now it's a year later? Any gremlins or quirks? Is all audio from carplay dependent on having the MMI Media input set to aux? For example, can you listen to the car radio or MMI jukebox and have navigation instructions from carplay?
Hi, I have sold the car now but it worked perfectly whilst I owned it. You do have to have it to aux and it’s one or the other I’m afraid

Hi mate, great video. 👍🏼 Did your connectivity remain okay after keeping the Wi-Fi antenna disconnected? I’m due to purchase one of these and I’ll probably do the same as you, keeping the USB and Wi-Fi antenna disconnected.

it worked perfectly fine with no issues as I keep my phone in my left pocket which is right next to the unit behind you!

My unit stays on after the car is turned off. It’s draining my battery. Did I not install it correctly?
Hmm it should be taking the power from the existing unit which should turn off with the ignition, I would certainly check your connections
Hello, why you didnt make the upgrade to MMI 3G PLUS? In my opinion its better than this chinese workaround and its oem :D Goodjob btw.

The OEM system that car came with IS the 3G+. There's no OEM way to add carplay to a B8 - all the options involve either adding a box, or swapping the screen out

Hey mate I installed the car play module and it works great before I installed it I retro fitted my reverse camera although it still works I have to manually exit car play then it comes on is there a way so it does this automatically?
Have you watched my video on retrofitting a reverse camera? Did you do the VCDS changes? Mine works automatically every time!
@@fun2drive I watched how to install it my camera works but I never did the vcds coding could this be the reason why I have to manually select camera?
I would suspect that's the issue as the car doesn't know you have a camera installed
@@fun2drive hey I’ve done the correct coding everything works as it should but when I use CarPlay if I go into reverse it won’t go on the the reverse screen 🤔
