That would look amazing with a C60 cab and dump bed (think old grain truck). Love the idea of saving this and not letting it rust away. Thanks for the great content 👍
Last 10 min had me cracking up! Driving through the corn field, effortlessly snatching up a ear, then driving through Mojos garden. “There we have, got a 1976 4wd Scottsdale back on the road” meanwhile steam steadily rolling out of multiple places under the hood. We love the hot garbage as much as you do 😆
Another great "will it run? Of course it will!" video! My "old tire" story: Back in 2006, my Dad gave me his 1979 Buick Electra Park Avenue, which he had inherited from his uncle. The car had 27,900 original miles on it, but had just spent most of its' time waiting for the occasional trip to town. It cranked up right away, and when I asked Dad if I could trust it for the 50+ mile drive home, he told me "Son, I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car across the country tomorrow!" Well, Dad was a braver man than I am! It made the drive home o.k., but I was a nervous wreck by the time I arrived! I spent the next few days cleaning, polishing, and replacing belts and hoses-- all of which were 27 years old! The tires looked brand new though... a set of Dunlop white walls. I drove the car to work for the next few days, which was about a 12 mile round trip. Then one day I pulled into the driveway after work, and seeing my wife across the street talking with our neighbor, I got out of the car and started walking across the street. I got about midway across the street when there was a tremendous explosion behind me! The left rear tire had evidently left a "goodbye, cruel world" note on the kitchen counter that morning! The next morning I put the spare on the car, and drove to the nearest tire store (very nervously, I might add). Upon inspection, it was discovered that the tires, although looking brand new were actually 17 years old! Since then, I made it my goal to let people know how to check the date code on any tire on their vehicles (legally mandated on all vehicle tires in the U.S.) Even if they look brand new, tire manufacturers recommend that tires should be replaced after about 6 years, regardless of mileage. Tires degrade due to exposure to sunlight, pollution, and chemicals. And they give little to no notice when they fail!
I laughed at the shot at Puddin for not knowing how to close a square body hood, I cringed super hard watching Puddin jump on that thing during his video lol.
Been binging your channel for the last month or so. Even my wife, who couldn't care less about cars, enjoys watching you and Duff fix stuff! My dad and I just started going through a 71 Scout, and I've learned a lot of valuable lessons already.
It’s definitely a cool channel. I like the laid back style and the wit. He isn’t trying to be a cartoon character either. It’s nice to find someone real.
Your right Duff. , I’m 5.6 and I sit right inside with no problems wrenching on my 454 or a front wood bench 🇺🇸👍😎. It’s roomy, it holds all your extra fluids and tools, no telling what you find
79 Scottsdale was my first vehicle when I was 16 back in 95...my Dad got it for me from a farm auction for $400. I got it in February for my birthday. Threw a rod through the oil pan at the end of June. Great times. I would give anything to still have it
Morske, thanks for your work on rigs no TV show would touch! Roadkill is a fun show but they have real cash and expensive rebuilds most of us can’t afford. Anyway, was lying around this morning watching your video and you motivated me to get up and out in the garage to wrench on my project. Went well and had fun doing it! THANKS for being real… 😊
It really means a lot that you take the time to read all the comments. Some fellers who are trying to be the next king of RUclips get lost along the way and get too busy. Thank you!!
Hey Mortske: Another Monday, another roadsteration project and this time it's a '76 Scottsdale small block... On this particular build, its like a jigsaw puzzle with several missing pieces; (Window glass inserts, extremely crunchy truck bed, missing hoses and relays in the engine, et,. al... Even the #9 wire burned up!!!) The bench seat has disintegrated but its good enough for the Duffalumpagus to lay on... How neat is that??? Hope he's not disturbing the dead carcasses in the cab... Happy motoring from the home of PB Blaster... Cleveland, Ohio... GOOOOOO ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL!!!!
I built a rat rod from a rotten 74 C10 with a 41Ford cab I got from Craigslist. Removed the old sheet metal and trimmed the cab bottom to fit the C10 frame. Excellent plan you have with a grain truck and pretty easy
I had the same problem with my ignition switch on my 77 Chevy, I took it apart, cleaned it, then adjusted it, fixed the problem. Also when taking any parts with wires on it from a junkyard, ALWAYS TAKE THE CONNECTIONS & ABOUT A FOOT OF WIRE IF POSSIBLE. Boy that was years ago back in the 90's, how life goes so fast. GOOD LUCK, you 2.
Loved the episode I've had a couple of k20's just like that one was so transparent you could see through every panel on the body but the motor and trans ran great they use a lot of salt up around McCall Idaho that's where the pickup came from the steel wheels were rusted to the drums and the rotors you couldn't even get them off
I love red paint when it comes to old tractors. That old Scottsdale was a hard worker back in its day. Can you imagine what Chevy truck fans would pay if Chevy came out with a limited number of square body trucks true to the originals( with the exception of mandated safety & emissions ). 👍for the video.
That's the reason why I bought my 95 OBS. Lots of room to work and I don't have to worry about taking off a ton of stuff to work on the engine. Easy peasy!
Coffee and rat nest Monday morning, what could be better. Any 40s or 50s truck cab would be cool, with a flat bed and some kind of tow truck rigging. Of course easier said than done but you and Duff can do it, no problem. 👍
Once you got the engine running again it sounded great & glad you got the clutch unstuck & those tires look brand new, don't look like there's hardly any wear on them & if you were selling it but your not I would go to a junkyard & find another cab & bed for it making sure the cab had the hole for the shifter & 4 wheel drive shifter
The horn honking when you turn the wheel reminds me of when I was a kid the old man had a 62 Dodge Dart that did That it decided to start at about 1a.m. when we pulled into a campground. If that wasn't enough we set up camp in the pitch dark after honking our way through the campground and woke up in someone else's campsite. So needless to say we were not too popular that weekend😂😂😂 cause the greatest pa the was we set up camp in someone else's spot 😂😂🤣
Orange Turd is a good name for it. Since you are going to keep it, upgrade the hoses, radiator and check to make sure that heater are good (gotta have that in North Dakota). Get those gauges and other electricals working. Seat replaced and some glass where there isn't any along with that gas tank or filler tube replacement. I see another video of clutch and drive train service as well as some exhaust work pending the frame is OK and not rotted from sitting around. Floor pan would be the only thing I would fix if it is just going to push snow and pulling stuck stuff around.
Excellent video Mortske Repair :) those if have 10 bolt it Dyna 55 or 12 bolt it Dyna 66 rear ends gears also be 411 ratio with 206 transfer case and lots to fix that truck for sure plus nice find on Chrome bumpers! Just right when you said "we haven't had one for awhile" I sat here laughing, thinking 'we haven't had a fire for awhile' hahaha. Great stuff, thanks Mort.
The tech tip at 36:50 is a real winner! I’ll add that the pad makes a nice belly cushion on top of the radiator support and such when you are leaning over working on the engine! Good for knees when kneeling too!🤓
Mr. Mortske, this video has hit the top of my list. First off, when the jumper wire fire started, I laughed so hard, I think I cracked a rib and again when you broke out the Point Special Sandwich (Cuz I'm from Point). I went to the emergency room for rib treatment and I am sending you the bill. Iffen you don't pay it, I'm an old Geezer and I'm gonna be sitting at the entrance gate at the 2023 Iola Car Show when you come thru the gate. Keep the video's coming and I'll wear a rib brace fer future videos. Take care & be safe!

Sweet old truck. Good eye for grabbing that 4x4. So many great trucks out there on the prairie. Road salt here in mi would have dissolved that entire rig by now
My 79 chey step side had the rod jump holes in the ignition switch and suddenly you couldn't shut the truck off or take the key out. That was fun learning that it had an ignition switch with 3 different holes for the rod.

She’s a little crusty but, she runs. Where did the knock go? I’ve not got a clue as to what kind of cab to put on it. How about one that’s in better shape, what ever you can get your hands on. I don’t know. What ever it is make sure Rocky hasn’t lived in it, sorry Duff! Great video, thanks for sharing!
Awesome!!! Your idea is sweet !!!! Run with it I’ll watch it all. I’m in south Texas and see 2 wheel drive square bodies all the time. Most of them are clapped out and are priced at like 4K still. I’ll keep a look out for a welding box here in south Texas San Antonio area
I wish I could find one like that to fix up my 17 year old niece has her heart set on one and said I would get if high school but I just can't find one anywhere in my budget I only make a grand a month thanks for another great video can't wait for more 👏👍✌️🍻

All way around stellar/excellent work truck. I got so made at the truck for dying, that before the scrape yard came to pick it up, I bashed the whole driver's side in.
79 was the first year of the filler door. 80 was the last year for a single right hand side tank. 81-87 trucks had left side fillers. Although Dual tank trucks are totally different they have fillers on both sides
Whaddya mean "big plans" and "not for sale at this time"?!? 😁 Jeez, you get one I'd like to grab (of course, I'd prefer an early-60s C-10) and OF COURSE you're holding onto it. Give 'em heck, big guy!!
I had the exact same truck mine had the 355 golden rocket. This was 28years ago I was young and dumb I lowered it yes. It had side steps and a roll bar and big wide slicks on Krager rims Look pretty cool at the time.

Thanks Mortske! Yes to the cab swap 57 gmc or whatever's cheapest is my choice!! I've been thinking about making a tool/welding cart out of an 3 wheel taylor dunn cart! The old front clip would make great wall art!
Go for it!
The knock fixed itself!
Awesome!!!
Your idea is sweet !!!! Run with it I’ll watch it all. I’m in south Texas and see 2 wheel drive square bodies all the time. Most of them are clapped out and are priced at like 4K still. I’ll keep a look out for a welding box here in south Texas San Antonio area
Much appreciated. Thanks for the lookout!
I can't wait to finally get home so I can fall asleep to one of my favorite RUclips Neighborhood Mechanics! 😴 You rock Mort! 😎🤙✌️
Enjoy!
I wish I could find one like that to fix up my 17 year old niece has her heart set on one and said I would get if high school but I just can't find one anywhere in my budget I only make a grand a month thanks for another great video can't wait for more 👏👍✌️🍻
I hope so too!
Thank u u r such a cool guy with a big heart ✌️🍻
Ho we DoMortske😆. Love that campfire with the roach, the motor sounded pretty good after the carb fix.lndeed need of a clutch and throw out bearing.HMmn can swap , Indefinitely: That 59 Ford could be a possible candidate with options my friend. Otherwise: It's a good thought,we'll see I reckon ? Good Video 👍✌️✌️,ON; Buddy?
Thanks 👍
You've had better luck with that Holley than I ever have
All way around stellar/excellent work truck. I got so made at the truck for dying, that before the scrape yard came to pick it up, I bashed the whole driver's side in.
Love the idea of throwing an old grain truck cab on that thing. Grew up with a '53 Chevy and '55 Ford that we used at wheat harvest time in Colorado.
sweet
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Thanks, will do!
Farmall Fanatic would be loving the tractor!
Yes I love your idea of of taking the body off and putting on the 57 ford truck sweet . Still the best on you tube ! You and duff the best.
Much appreciated Roy!
Cool stuff 😎 👍. Digging the idea of the grain truck cab into a plow truck. That would be some cool content 😎.
Nice drivetrain on that 1. The Np205 is worth it all by itself. Body swap would be something I’d like to see.
Nothing wrong with lowering it!
this is my favorite RUclips channel and yes even over that very popular feller
Much appreciated John!
Enjoy your videos have a awesome day
Same to you!
Yup this a great way to start the week Mortske video
That’s a pretty decent truck!!! Nice to see it running again 💙
