When they sit for years and years and years, that's when you get the cars and trucks that need so much time to slowly coax them into living once more.

Y'all dont feel bad about the chaos episode every now and then, after the fiasco you've had for the past year, you deserve the crazy fun that i can see this barn giving! Enjoy it, treasures like these are too rare!
"Put the J.C. Whitney catalog down, and slowly back away" is the first thing that popped into my head. That truck has EVERY little tchotchke item from every 80's truck accessory catalog I've ever seen! LOL! Love the content and love these cleaner (for Iowa anyway) square bodies! I hope to find a few more on FB marketplace soon!
Without being too nosey Kevin, I'd be interested to know a wee bit more about what all is now yours. Does all the random stuff come with the trucks? Have you bought everything? The main reason I'm asking: I think there's quite possibly as much value in the "stuff", as the vehicles. It looks like you could fill a decent-sized truck with just the tool and fluids. A skip might be handy too, even just for all the boxes/cardboard/shit. I wonder what the story was with the former owner. He seems to have been into buying, selling, maybe both. Was he maybe a trader of some kind? There seems to be so much stuff, still in boxes. Once you get the vehicles taken care of and salvage all the good automotive stuff, there could enough stuff there for a yard sale/car boot sale. Either that, or someone could spend a couple of days listing stuff on eBay. Dust it off and you might be very surprised at how much it brings in. Just a thought but Mook's animal rescue charity coul do pretty well out of it. Looking forward to the next one and completely agree about the AD/HD t-shirts - you both need one.👍😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.
As a truck and car lover from way back, I find your channel very interesting and fascinating to watch. I wish we had places like that up here (northeast). I hope you keep on with this project and so we can see all the stuff in the barns.
73-80 hoods had the bending problem. 81 thru 91 had a different hinge/spring design that didn't suffer from the bending problem. And there are fixes for the 73-80 hoods to stiffen them to keep them from bending.
That shed was amazing - glad you spent a little time rifling through and showing us what was in there. Today's car was a hoot! Yes, you can over accesorize a car... Great video! 👍
its not unusual to see those hoods with scrap metal fastened over the "crumple" zone , Good on you for pointing it out. I will generally oil those hood hinges on any old car/truck. I am sure GM sold a lot of those hoods from rust and bending!
Hey Kevin, longtime lurker of your channel here. To say that I am excited for the next 4 months of content would be an understatement. That barn is INSANE! But I gotta know what the situation is with all the cars. Did you or your friend buy the property? Or just the cars? Or were they given to y'all? I am so curious regarding the circumstances on how you have gained access to work on so many vehicles at once
Another iowa farmer died and the kids and grandkids are now "city people" too involved in their own lives and want nothing to do with grandpas old stuff. Or had no kids. No iowa boy is gonna let grandpas stuff go for nothing. But nothing there too crazy cool.
I’m sure the purists wouldn’t like it but if it were mine I would take absolutely everything off except for the visor and I think it would look better with the simple square look
Kevin, Miss Mook, very sorry you two were sick. Hopefully you had a great thanksgiving anyway. That place is a honey hole!!! I hope you make four months worth of videos of that place. Love it!!! Please revive the Monte Carlo . I had that car and it was a beast. Never broke down on me. Biggest mistake I ever made getting rid of it. Never got stuck in the Jersey snow either. Couple of bags of cement in the trunk and I was good to go. Keep healing up and can’t wait till next week 👍 😁!!!
Kev, been a fan and subscriber of yours since well before your last deployment and I just want you to know how much I appreciate the content you put out. You've been entertaining and educating me for years now and more than anything, I'm just thankful for the content. Like others, I don't need an apology from you. The way you shoot and edit your videos definitely gives it a warm and inviting feel that more polished channels and shows simply cannot replicate. So long as you keep creating, I'll keep watching. Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you, Mook, and Coda! God bless y'all!
Love your channel brother. Im a Iowa farmboy myself. Was wondering if maybe you could let me know of any old jd 2 cylinder tractors sitting around that you might come across in iowa. Im a serious collector and buyer of these old tractors. I love finding them with stuck motors and getting them freed up and running again. Thanks brother
This truck reminds me of a pimpmobile from the 70’s. it must weigh 200 pounds more with all the accessories hung off it. Still a great video guys. Thanks.
Awesome find and I can't wait for more!! I know you'll save everything else in the barn but make sure you save that 88-91 SSE Bonneville and Z34. They are both rare and not many on the road. I might even be interested in them depending. They made hardly any Z34s and only 13k a year of the SSE. There aren't many at all left of the SSE probably more of the Z34 honestly. I own an 90 SSE and a 90 Turbo Grand Prix. Both excellent. TGP being very simular to the Z34 but more rare. I hope you work on them get them goin. The SSE is super simple to work on. Only thing to remember is the brakes are like a European car and have Double Bubble ISO flares at the ends if you need to replace any hard line flares. They are stainless steel though along with the exhaust. Usually only the rubber brake hoses go bad.. I hope you take the bug gaurd off it lol. That is hideous and meant for a truck...Good luck with everything to you both!
Kevin/Mook @Junkyard Digs, I know you didn't do any carb work this time but keep this trick I devised years ago for the future.. Try this... Heat the plastic tube from the carb cleaner spray with a lighter (about 1/4-1/2 inch from the end. Then pull on each end of the tube to stretch it. This makes the outer/inner tube diameter smaller and more of a pin point. When the melted plastic solidifies, use small wire clippers or nail clippers to snip the tube at the smallest diameter that still provides flow when spraying. The cleaner comes out like a pin point pressure washer and the shrunken plastic tube end fits inside whatever port your spaying thru. You can also do the same to create 90 degree angles in the plastic tube to spray sideways inside long venturi tubes. I used to make/keep custom tubes around for these situations. Hope this makes sense. BTW.... Great videos. Y'all make me miss my youth. Be Well!
I'll be the weird one and say I want the lumina and that 89 bonneville sse. That bonneville is a little slower than the later ssei but still pretty fun. I grew up around and owned plenty of square body stuff so the old sporty gm fwd cars always interest me. I used to use type f in gm's to firm up the shifts, always worked fine for me.
Ive owned both and enjoyed them. I can remember when they were everywhere and they just disappeared. I dont know if it was a cash for clunkers thing like the explorer but I dont even see them in the junkyard anymore.
The 88-90 grand prix se is my favorite. I owned 6 at one time with the color matched wheels. I owned quite a few 91-96 also but only gtp's. I was always big into the grand prix scene but you rarely see them anymore either.
Mook looks so happy. She was like in heaven of cars.Anyways love all your videos. Keep up the good work .God bless u mook and the rest of the family always. Peace ✌
I've got a challenge for you!!! return to this barn and you have to get a car/truck to run, drive, brake and turn using only the contents of the barn and everytime you have to use your own tools or buy parts you have to take a double shot
Old squarebodies are amazing. And more reliable than anything made today. And personally believe more reliable than 80% of ford's. Awesome revivals man!
There is enough stuff in that barn to make a gearhead laugh and cry at the same time. I believe a thorough inventory needs to be done. Wow, so much good stuff!
Already know it's gonna be a good video, got yourself a nice GF that loves helping you and knows her sh too! And you are always a pleasant guy to watch, you are extremely intelligent and can explain even the most difficult thing easily. Not a common trait!
Awesome episode!!! Love exploring through old stuff fun and sad at the same time knowing the guy who collected it has passed. but he must be looking down and seeing the joy it brings to others reviving his stuff. Hope to see more of your guys finds there. Oh Kevin you looked great on the exercise bike maybe a fitness show is in your future? LOL....
Love them old Chevy square bodies, but damn I’ll never understand fender skirts on a pickup. Years ago I bought a 79 3/4 ton Chevy that had em and they were the first things I ripped off that rig. Awesome find, can’t wait to see more
Clearly a JC Whitney frequent flyer. As someone who also has 'squirrel brain' I totally understand pushing that truck out. Thanks for great content. I have a revival project this spring but I don't think I'm going to do it in 5 hours.
Wow! What a find! Imagine all the history inside that barn. It's so intriguing just sitting here in front of my computer, here in VA! Wish ya's luck on the drive home...
As someone easily distracted by junk I actually liked the digging around and distractions on this video. It made it more funny/interesting. If you watch Iron Trap Garage's channel they do similar estate picking/urbex to get car parts for their projects and do a mix of that and hotrod project how to videos. That Square body is decked out 1/2 notch below the 'Gypsy caravan' trim level...All it needs to get there is some crazy lacy multi-color paint and a few more weird knick knacks hanging from the inside and outside.
Beautiful Truck, I could hear some vacuum leaks but it looks and sounds pretty solid. So funny with all the extras on it. I'm sure you already ordered new shocks for the drive home after the title is resolved.
Your truck there has a factory AM, but also an aftermarket FM radio. It's that little white box under the dash to the right of the CB radio. And the visor with the flush mounted lights doubles the value of the truck. They don't make those anymore and were pretty rare when new too.
Everything from the Cadillac hubcaps to the wheel skirts the the ridiculous chrome add ons just make this truck amazing. I feel like it belongs in a movie, it's like the Family Truckster of Chevy trucks.
I honestly like how you guys got distracted with the discoveries! I find it more real and unfiltered, shows you're actually human y'know? Plus, it's fun!
FM mod Adapter on the drinker, side by the knees. Tune to find the null point in the AM Radio dial glass and turn on the FM adapter, rotating the AM tuning knob till you find the FM signal, then pick your FM station with the modulator. That AM radio is 99% probably slug tuned, and will have 4-5 mechanical memory presets. Pull the button all the way to the out position, then select the station on the AM radio dial, then push button all the way in. Nice truck with a few things removed. Small Block Custom Deluxe 10, with built in chassis corrosion protection, via the small block. If it was a Camper Special you'd have it all, well than the Turbo 400, AC, tow package etc. Still these are getting rarer than Hens teeth not all clapped out. Glad to see you got this one rolling again. Did you ever tell us what year it was? Did I miss it... between '77-'79 maybe? I had a '79, Step-Side, Tuxedo Black outside, Carmen Red interior, Cheyenne Super 10, 4wd with a 305/350, factory tinted glass, rear slider and AC. Gutless in speed but fun as a 4x4 truck, especially in snow. 33's fit like they came on it..
I think I like this one even more than the GMC in the next video! All the little add on options are so awesome! It would be hard to choose which one I like better, now having seen both of them.

I think the guy that had the cars drove them until he wasn't able to put any more accessories on them, then parked them. Or at least mirrors.
Those were some awesome custom semi trucks! Nice square body too. Fired right up to boot!
This is amazing Kevin! I can't wait to see the videos from this farm.
Looking forward to the next one and completely agree about the AD/HD t-shirts - you both need one.👍😁
Cheers for now,
Dougie.
Love a good ol square body. Unfortunately can't find one around here under 10k in any condition.
And there are fixes for the 73-80 hoods to stiffen them to keep them from bending.
would be worth them looking into that
oh, it happens on the 81-up hoods too, just not as susceptible. Happened to my 2nd 85 and my 87. (I've owned an 82, 2 85's, and an 87)
The wheel well covers are aftermarket, so glad you know about the hood folding,I am wondering if the 454 is a camper special.
You should do an entire episode exploring the stuff in the barn. There’s some pretty interesting stuff in there!
I would not be able to leave that barn until I fiddled around with everything. Lol be like a dam awesome toy store.
Yeah, if you keep the hinges moving properly you’re way less likely to kink the hood.
"I want all the options"
" Ok. So a/c, power windows? "
"No no, I want *all* the options"
Someday I'll find a time capsule like this. Those antics (so-called distractions) though are HILARIOUS!
I am amazed they even got the video out. If I went in that barn I would be never coming out.
Lovely truck. No idea what that is worth where you are, but here in the UK would be worth a LOT of money ! Great video as always
23:05 Noot, noot. 😆👍
This was one of the most entertaining episodes yet! I loved all the random goofiness of it all!
@@deadgoatsRacing you called me?
@@crazycooln01 yeah, have you seen a pair of red handled plyers laying around anywhere? I just had em 10 seconds ago...
@@deadgoatsRacing oh… about that… well Bill had to use them for a project
@@crazycooln01 i knew it. Goddam i knew it. Every dam time.
I’m sure the purists wouldn’t like it but if it were mine I would take absolutely everything off except for the visor and I think it would look better with the simple square look
@Womb Raider I have the same exact lighted Lund visor on a 98 ford explorer
I’d leave the naked fairy hood ornament, too.
I really want a vid just to see what you can still find in that barn. Loved the episodes.
Greetings from Belgium! =)
Also..... Get a hold of Mike Wolf (American Pickers) on that Tandem Bicycle.
Kevin/Mook @Junkyard Digs,
I know you didn't do any carb work this time but keep this trick I devised years ago for the future..
You're not alone. Those two cars peaqued my interest, too. I hope he got those in the deal so we can see videos of them.
Ive owned both and enjoyed them. I can remember when they were everywhere and they just disappeared. I dont know if it was a cash for clunkers thing like the explorer but I dont even see them in the junkyard anymore.
Agreed! I own a 90 SSE in black and a 90 Turbo Grand Prix in red! Fun for sure!
The 88-90 grand prix se is my favorite. I owned 6 at one time with the color matched wheels. I owned quite a few 91-96 also but only gtp's. I was always big into the grand prix scene but you rarely see them anymore either.
I had an 89 Grand Prix with the 2.8L, always wanted to swap in a 3.1L. I also had a 96 Bonneville and my ex had a 96 Grand Prix. Fun cars.
"The next 4 months of content" maybe a full year if you're lazy enough
More of the Z34 and gold Bonneville, might be an SSE. Please!
Mook looks so happy. She was like in heaven of cars.Anyways love all your videos. Keep up the good work .God bless u mook and the rest of the family always. Peace ✌
That’s the most “Clark Griswald” lookin truck I’ve ever seen 😅
Completely papaw’d out..
Fuckin love it..!
Farm-ly Truckster?
I've got a challenge for you!!! return to this barn and you have to get a car/truck to run, drive, brake and turn using only the contents of the barn and everytime you have to use your own tools or buy parts you have to take a double shot
By the time they get it started and driving, they'd be too drunk to drive anyway
@@rawr51919 exactly! That's part of the challenge try to be sober enough to drive it home!
Kevin has absorbed the squarebody mentality. Every squarebody he sees he points it out. Im the same way. 😂
You should bring Mook more often with you, she's just so random and always good for a laugh 😁
Spectacular barn finds! Love the old Chevys… Did you happen to check out the Monte Carlo? What year/style?
I’m surprised American Pickers didn’t get to this farm first. I bet they’re drooling over this find….
Hey thanks junkyard digs for that tip! It doesn't go un-noticed/ unappreciated🤙 good 2 know. 27:00
Hey Kevin, if you ever get a chance to find a international scout or scout II that would be sweet
Already know it's gonna be a good video, got yourself a nice GF that loves helping you and knows her sh too! And you are always a pleasant guy to watch, you are extremely intelligent and can explain even the most difficult thing easily. Not a common trait!
Congrats on the find. Square body, (short bed) Chevy trucks are highly sought after in Cali. 🇺🇸
Awesome find, can’t wait to see more
And being an Iowan, I can safely say that some barns can look like something like this or it could scar you for life. It's like gambling.
Don’t ever apologize foe the content that you guys put out, the digging through the barn was just as much fun as you wrenching on the truck.
Clearly a JC Whitney frequent flyer. As someone who also has 'squirrel brain' I totally understand pushing that truck out. Thanks for great content. I have a revival project this spring but I don't think I'm going to do it in 5 hours.
All metal. We drove tanks back in the day!
Dude that beeping and running to put change in the machine have me so many good memories with me and my dad washing his old cars.
The look on Mook's face when they opened the door to the custom cab was priceless. Now we know what she wants for Christmas.
That mirror is for looking a something that you put on top of a camper
38:11 that is a beautiful rig. keep her alive. just TLC and a good home.
I think I like this one even more than the GMC in the next video! All the little add on options are so awesome! It would be hard to choose which one I like better, now having seen both of them.
