Thanks so much! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! This was our first visit to Latvia, but I promise you it will not be our last. We had an amazing time at some really cool people and had a lot of fun.
Yeah, there is something that I can’t put my finger on. That is just such a special touch on this market. What an awesome winter it was for us thank you for joining us on the journey!
Gdansk and Krakow are amazing! We have videos from their two years ago that we added to this playlist! We only had an $82 a day budget back then so we were only spending like $20 at the Christmas markets. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to spend 50 this go around! Thanks for watching merry Christmas
Thanks! We had a great time in Riga, so you should definitely go! We went to Tallin as well, they are close, would recommend doing both. We didn’t realize how expensive the Baltics were though😬. We were able to find some good deals, but it was just an amazing trip overall
Hey, so great! Thanks you shared you enjoyed my city 🥳🥰 Priecīgus Ziemassvētkus - Merry Christmas) & Laimīgu Jauno gadu (Happy New Year)!! P.S. And - welcome to our beautiful city again! ❤
Thank you so much. We had a fabulous time in Riga. It was such a beautiful place to visit. We met some very very kind people and we also got a little tipsy at the grocery market! See you next time.
@HeresGoodTravel 🤭🥰 I'm really happy you enjoyed, that you met nice people and stayed happy with Riga! Waiting patiently for your new videos! You're both really nice 🤗🤗
Thank you so much this has been such a fun series to make. We’re sad to see it go we have one more video from Tallin. Then back to our boring ol regular food😂
Really enjoying your Christmas market series! My wife's family is Latvian and we'd love to visit Riga someday! Merry Christmas and have a safe and Happy New Year!
You were showing empty streets of Old Riga. Mostly tourists go there nowadays, locals are going to places outside it. It used to be packed with locals 10-20 years ago, when "going drinking" was the same as saying "let's go to Old Riga", but now few locals can be found there. But even with that, compared to big cities, Riga still feels rather vacant unless you are stuck in traffic in peak hours :) We were at the market on Saturday and it was PACKED :)
We lucked out because of the snow earlier in the day and crowds were thin. Where are the other areas that people spend time now since they’ve moved away from the old town?
Thank you so much, we hope things brighten up. This time of year can be trying for sure we hope to ease your troubles with some fun Christmas cheer and hot Gluhwein.
Thank you! 😊 we look forward to your comments, we’re glad you’re liking them, one more to be posted hopefully on Christmas- Merry Christmas we appreciate you watching and love your comments!
How wonderful the recommendations will see your beautiful city 😊 Hello everyone from my beautiful city Riga, Happy New Year to everyone happiness and peace 🥰🥳🙂😊👍👍👍
I like how you say this city is built for 2 million people, but there are less than 2 million in the whole country! 😆😆 Good to see how much fun you had!
"RIGA Christmas Market FOOD TOUR 🇱🇻 Is $50 Enough in LATVIA!?!? - Join us on a culinary adventure to see how far $50 can go in the festive markets of Riga!"
We usually go out only on Fridays or weekeend, so yes Thursday feeling empty is expected. Also this winter is warm, usually it would be around -10 Celsius already, and also another reason for less people out, is winter, is cold/wet, and dark .. Glad you enjoyed your time!
Thanks so much! It worked out perfect for us that the crowds were smaller. We actually went there specifically for the snow and cold weather but it was beautiful the whole time. We did get one quick storm with some beautiful snowfall. Can’t wait to visit again in the summer!
Pelmeņi are chinese, similar to ravioli. Not sure what pirogi are in ruzzia, but in Latvia pīrāgi or in deminutive pīrādziņi are a type of small pastries with bacon inside. Google speķa pīrādziņi. :)
That’s what we were expecting! We saw some Instagram stories from other days and it was crazy! We think because of the fast snow storm people didn’t want to get caught in the weather. We lucked out for sure
everyone likes their nations food, but as a latvian i really like our food quality and taste. Its simple usually, becouse we are not rich, but its buffed to maximum. Also we are almost migrant free country, specially outside of riga, so generally great place to travel.
We totally agree! We really liked the cafeteria or buffet style restaurants too. It allowed us to try some different foods for an affordable price. Although we would not call it cheap it was good compared to other prices.
No doubt! Of the 6 markets we visited it was one of the most expensive. The quality we found was very good though so that softened the blow. When we look back at the winter we spent $300 at 6 markets and had the time of our lives.
Happy to see happy people. The fact is there isn't that many of us left to wonder Old Town, plus even less can afford it. The amount of tourists visiting is incomparable to 201_ish. People also prefer to go elsewhere on vacations or just stay at home.
When did you film it, like which year? We dont have snow this year in Riga and we have +5c to +7c all december is very warm . Besides you cant do much on 50eurs there.
Totally! It was a pricy market which is why we had to drink so much haha. We enjoyed our time. The snow was thick and fast. The weather said it was rain but that day snowed for an hour and then cleared up. We think that’s why the market was so empty m.
Nice video, but my eyes are melting. You can get those thingslike dumplings much cheaper at a normal canteen. And all supermarkets sell ginger bread. 50 euros is too much.
We know we always justify the overcharging at the Christmas markets is kind of paying an entry fee for all the decorations music and just overall Christmas cheer. The convenience of being able to drink and eat from stalled stall as good too, but we definitely found some more affordable food when we were in we got for sure, those dumplings were fantastic.
not sure why would they serve vodka and beer mixed together which are the 2 things you`re never supposed to mix together but enjoy if you can I guess...
Truly. We are still having a hard time dealing with the inflation. When we returned to San Diego there was an egg shortage and eggs were $10 for a dozen!
@ Late reply cause of my back surgery ! But yeah, standard tourist trap, have fallen for this in other countries ! Just sad we don't have anymore proper winter in Latvia, as kiddo was going trough 40cm snow to school, now i ride bycicle in december, lol !
I have tears in my eyes, i haven’t been home in Riga during Christmas for 14 years and I am booking my tickets home for Christmas this year! Thank you for reminding how amazing it is home❤️
Для кого эта ярмарка для простых людей???? Эта ярмарка для туристов которые приезжают с других стран и могут себе позволить купить кусок колбасы . А в латвии простой рабочий не может , потому что бедные
Thank you for visiting Latvia :) we love tourists. Priecīgus Ziemassvētkus :)
Thanks so much! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! This was our first visit to Latvia, but I promise you it will not be our last. We had an amazing time at some really cool people and had a lot of fun.

I've been to many Christmas markets around the world and the one in Riga is my favorite one! The vibe there is awesome

It’s not usually so empty in Riga, highly depends on a day/weather etc… I’ve been to this Xmas market- it was soo crowded 😉
We saw some photos and were nervous. There was a fast short snow storm so this may have chased the crowds away! Worked out great for us😂
GREAT! YOU BOTH ARE GREAT! RIGA IS GREAT!🎉🎉🎉
Thanks so much! We appreciate the support and we love Riga!

New follower. Excellent Christmas Market series. So much detail. Thank You!!
We are so glad you enjoyed the series and we hope you continue to follow along on our culinary adventures!
I think the soup is solyanka. You can also add olives and a slice of lemon. Its also called handover soup - really helps a lot if you have one. :)
Haha that’s awesome! It would’ve been great with those additions. We are hungover pretty frequently so we will take your advice 🤣

Our country is deteriorating every year because our leaders think about anything but Latvia itself and its residents.

Merry Christmas from Bucharest 👋🎅🎄☃🎁❄
Merry Christmas! We love Bucharest, great Christmas market there too!
I can't believe you could eat it all!!! 12 dumplings alone is worth something!
Love your channel! Always entertaining nevertheless!
Thanks so much! We should’ve played chubby bunny with the dumplings!
True! Sometimes we would have to film in two separate days. Those dumplings were the best we had on this visit to Europe for sure!
Thank you for brightening a rather trying holiday season !

Riga was a such an amazing little Christmas market! We loved Tito!
Im in riga now . I got to try the soup
Sorry we took some time off RUclips over the new year. Did you get to try the soup!?
It’s not empty 😂 you got lucky. I’m from Riga, usually you feel yourself like sardines in a can 😂

And in Riga it is SAFE! Unlike culturally enriched parts of Europe.
It was very safe for sure

COME TO RIGA! IT IS SO GREAT PLACE!✨️
Such a cool place! We want to return in the summer! We bet it’s spectacular
Those prices are insane for locals, but I'm glad you both enjoyed it all. 😊

Totally understand we had a terrific time and fell in love with Rica. We would love to visit again during the summertime.
Hi, first time see tourists who drink balsam properly. Usually they drink pour balsam and afterwards complain that it's not tasty.
Blackcurrant version is tasty. Cherry even sweeter.
lol we did do that the next night at a local bar. But after the 3rd one we fell in love😂
It was a great combination
It depends which country dollars we talking about.
Euros right?

You pronounce balzāma with great Latvian pronounsiatio
So cool! Thanks so much for the high praise! It gets harder to say the more you drink it🤣
not sure why would they serve vodka and beer mixed together which are the 2 things you`re never supposed to mix together but enjoy if you can I guess...
Warmed us up
Everything is astronomically expensive
Truly. We are still having a hard time dealing with the inflation. When we returned to San Diego there was an egg shortage and eggs were $10 for a dozen!
50 euros is for commercial photographers, not for hobby home video.
True
That's like market for alcoholics. Many locals are ashamed and shocked about it, but who pays the piper calls the tune.
That’s probably why we got in so well!
wrong
Right?
Imagine spending 50e in Riga for overpriced, and on complete bullshit. 0 Latvian drinks, or food, just made for tourists,
And Pirogi are Polish, and Dumplings are Chinese, not a fcking Russian
Sorry!
Totally blew it
