The best review of my city, I have ever seen! You truly seem to know what you are talking about! 👌👌👌also worth mentioning, the Riga Central Market main structures are five pavilions constructed by reusing old German Zeppelin hangars, hence the looks of these hangars. :) all the best in your future travels!
Thank you so much 🙂 I'm truly glad I was able to capture the spirit of Riga accurately. Also, interesting note on the old hangars! That would also explain why they're so massive
Great thing about Daugava and many other bodies of water in Riga- they are totally nice to swim in, unless there is a lot of "blooming", but all the waters are being tested quite regularily :) Maybe it would be too cold for the average traveler, but in a hot summer day it is great to do some laps at Lucavsala beach 😊
Love your take on traveling through the senses! It is unique and sets you apart from other travel vloggers. Well done! I visited Riga in August 2024, and you described it perfectly through all 5 senses. I, too, noticed how peaceful it was compared to other European capital cities. It is one of my favorites, too. Thanks for sharing this journey. All the best!
Great video, I really enjoyed it. I will be going back to Riga for my second visit in April and I am so looking forward to it. Thanks for taking me with you on your tour of Riga
Came for Riga, stayed for your incredible descriptions! ❤ Amazing travel vlog! Helps me immerse myself better in my own city and see it and feel it with newfound appreciation! Thank you a lot! Gained a sub. 😊❤
Thanks so much! It always makes me feel great to hear locals say that my video captured their city well :) you live in an amazing, and very underrated city!
Dear Micheal, I wanted to thank you for your work. It’s my first time coming across a travel vlogger that has approached travelling like this in particular the descriptions of the 5 senses and the peaceful ambience. You are awesome!! This video was very useful as I’m moving to Riga next week to study - take care :)
That was very interesting and I enjoyed it. Riga is on my list to go to, maybe at Christmas time. I visited a different Baltic State- Estonia-Tallinn, Parnu and Tartu. Beautiful too.
As a Brit who moved to Riga, I tell friends and family it is a cracking place to live. Well... except for winter time when the days are short and the ice and slush can be annoying. The summers tho' are fantastic with the long days and reasonable heat - unlike the searing oven you get in southern Europe.
I’ve watched a lot of travel videos to the point of monotony. Your travel video stood above all others simply because it engaged the senses. I literally felt as if I was there. Excellent video. I’ve now subscribed to your channel and am eagerly waiting to see more videos. Magnum Opus!
Oh yes! I love watching foreigners checking out Riga. They all have their own differences. But tgey mostly fall flat on same. Old Riga being great mostly skipping everything else. And oh there is also big bazzar. You fusing in scences made this so much better as people said. I felt as I was there. Especially for someone who has been there and knows those smeels, feels, sounds. Oh the old city so mousty being bound in shadows of each another and all underground places! I loved them sad didnt see much of them here. There are a pot of bars but pizzerias and other kind of fun exsists. All kind of clubs that sometimes you can just walk in. But yeah great video.

Beautiful video, I am planning next month to visit Riga and Tallinn, what you suggest where to spend more time ? 1 day in Riga and 2 days in Tallinn or 2 days in Riga and 1 day in Tallinn ?
I would personally do 2 in Riga, 1 in Tallinn. Tallinn is wonderful but very compact, and if you're limited on time, you'll get the best "bang for your buck" in one day there! You could spend your morning at St. Olaf's church/bell tower, perhaps the Old Town Hall, and grabbing some delicious Kama Cakes, have lunch up on Toompea Hill and walk the old city walls/visit Nevsky Cathedral, have a classic dinner at Olde Hansa, and spend your evening shopping through the old medieval passageways. The perfect day in old Tallinn! Riga is a bit more spread out and has a ton of unique layers to explore (as I'm sure you noticed in the video!)
@@asenseoftravel Thank you so much for your replay and suggestion. I seen many travel blog but I love your videos, keep it up. Btw which gear you are using to take videos...
I was going to skip this video - but like other - I have to give people the benefit of the doubt. I have watched quite and few and found them to be repetive with the same sites and same stories - In saying that, this is the first video that thought outside the box and viewed the city differently. The center was well presented! Unfortunate that the 4.8 k view did not bother to give you "thumbs up" No other video compares!
It felt more like Graz, second largest city in Austria,... i was baffled how similar these places were with architeture and general feeling is very similar.
@@Rblock777 Kuldīga is dope asf but locals living there are not happy at all. Their building council have created very strict architecture rules for anyone who tries to build anything near the city center in order to preserve original architecture. Preserving this is very expensive!!

Wow 😮 the city center gives Paris, Vienna, Prague a run for their money. I always thought of Latvia as a poor Sovjet country. 🫣 I have to explore more into eastern Europe I see
oh we definitely do have plently of depresing commie blocks, but the old town with its canals and small cobblestone roads and the Art Nouveau district are really gorgeous

Thank you for bringing Latvias name out in the world! Yet bare in mind anyone will need to experience all 4 seasons to truly know Riga!
