Tremendous. Black crowes. Very underrated. Jimmy Page. Still killing it.
Yes, they killed the song...
exactly right
The Black Crows are underrated by exactly zero people who know even the slightest thing about music.
You are correct. However, there are those who don’t have the knowledge you do. Hence not getting the overall props they deserve IMO.
Never underrated in my circle since Jealous Again.
The Crowes were so much more talented than I ever realized. I don’t know how I never saw it back in the day, but to cover Led Zeppelin took some serious balls
🔨Nailed it.
Alex the crows hit the market running on all cylinders. First album dropped was shake your money maker which in my opinion challenged most any other bands first recording
Secondly they released southern harmany which literaly was a life changer for me. Easily the best album in 90s decade in my mind.
They literally took the industry by its balls. By way of top level song writing played refreshingly in a brand new sound by top level musicians and fronted by an obvious rock star seemingly built for task.
If your not familiar with "my morning song" its jawdropping!!! It's on southern harmony and a must listen.
Ha ha Mr zeppelin is driving the bus
Keys are sick!
Any garage band could do it.
How I love LZ 1. I’m 73 and have listened to it a thousand times. I can actually remember the very first time I heard it. Saw them at MSG the whole concert was their first 2 albums.
Led Zeppelin dude.
@@andrewrivera4029 what are you president of their fan club? Grow up.
Epic!
Awesome!
AWESOME
When the last time anybody heard a hammond organ like this? Cmon, this magic.
Last time? .... Every time I put on a Deep Purple record.
@@avolite719 I meant since this was performed live. I'm didn't mean past performances
@@dannyh5937 ... neither did I.
I love both LedZep and the Black Crowes. It was guitar that got me into both those bands, but whenever I hear hammond organ played like that, it does kind of transport me to another place. There's something entrancing about it that simply can't be done on guitar.
Ed was a great player added so much to the crowes I mean I'd your not too familiar listen to decending by the crowes
I caught this tour in Chicago, in the summer of 2000. I was 13 years old, dragged along, thank god, by older and cooler cousins. Mom didn't want me to go, but they sat her down and said, "Jean, there will never be another one like this!" And they were right. There has never been anything close. There never will be.
They were right when I was 18 I took my girlfriend/ future wife to see Zep her mom would not let us take her sister 14 years old , she never got to see Led Zeppelin, but she did see JP and TBC and Page Plant made sure of that!
man you sure as heck was lucky. what a show it must have been.
Thanks for sharing
@@thesolarengineer That's right man. Rain was coming in sideways it was so windy - not good in an outdoor arena - but it stopped and all was good and right. One of the best shows ever.
There was a waterfall from the roof and Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened up, great show indeed!
At some point in the late 60’s Jimmy Page became the coolest person on the planet… a title he holds to this day.
and I can't tell if that was something from God or Satan but that thing jimmy was doing that sounded so sweet and sad is just amazing.... he makes it look easy
I still keep my rock n roll attitude….blast the Led out of my car with the windows down. Nothing cooler than a JP guitar solo.
You forgot sombody...Jimmy Hedricks..duh??
@@charlieburch6250 I should have said “early 70’s” I would never deny the greatness of Hendrix
Right after Keith
Jimmy truly does have good taste in his playing. Unmatched
Jimmy Page is the Greatest guitarist.🎸🔥😍✌️
The Crowes brilliance made this possible. Excellent musicians.
I know what you're saying but what do you think Page is? If they're legends, then Page is a God. His playing is brilliant when not fogged by drugs.
Watching Jimmy tear up the solo with a full band sound is amazing...
Jimmy Page is ALWAYS AMAZING❤❤😊😊
Jimmy Page is a great guitar player. Too bad he’s Satans servant
@@caveman3096oh gawd 💀
@@caveman3096 Satan and God don't exist
Really?didnt know that...who told you out of interest?
Seen Page and Plant about 20 years ago. Best show ever. Page is an absolute legend on guitar.
1:29 Jimmy Page starts doing a kinda "nanny nanny booboo" melody not heard in the original, and it is just brilliant. Like when a child says "I warned you!". Your time is gonna come, girl!
Yes.. so true.. like a ‘demanding’ sound
He can do that with a b bender on his Les Paul - that’s usually only done by Tele players
I went to a show during that tour in NJ. The one and only time I got a chance to watch Jimmy Page live. It was effing epic.
Sugar Johnson
Same for me. Only time l saw JP live, and it blew my mind
I saw the Zeppelin in 77, great show.
I saw them in Worcester. Epic is the perfect word. Amazing...
I saw Page and Plant in 95 in Dallas Texas at the old reunion arena. And yeah it was probably the best show i ever saw.
I was there too! Epic night!
No matter what the surviving members of The Black Crowes do musically or otherwise for the rest of their lives they are some of the few who can always look back and say they toured with Jimmy Page to play a bunch of the best songs in history. Not bad.
Steve Gorman was such an important part of the chemistry with Jimmy. Jimmy Page loved Steve Gorman as a drummer and a friend during that run.
So TRUE !!
Love his radio show
That’s actually why I’m watching. He’s always had a nice swampy behind the beat groove. He kills it on the Zeppelin stuff.
I replied to a similar comment on another video, but essentially what I said was, What made Steve standout w/ this lineup was he didn't try to be Bonzo, he played himself the way he would play Zeppelin w/ the Crowes - PERFECT.
Steve's book is great.
Chris Robinson just kills it. An amazing talent.
Jimmy, Chris, and the entire BC's just flat ass nailed it!
In 1990 The Black Crowes 1st opened for Robert Plant tour “Manic Nirvana”1990 with their first album “Shake your Money Maker” performed Jealous Again, She talks to Angela”
I went to that Robert Plant concert in Minneapolis. I vividly remember saying who the hell are the Black Crows?
Let’s drink beer instead, then go in and see Plant!
I saw this tour at Camden NJ. It was a unreal. I still remember people looking at each other asking if this was real. No bullshit. It was like a dream. When that many people feel that good all together something happens that is magic
Man you are totally right. That's a good way of putting it. I loved going to their concerts partially because of that. I always hated philharmonic and widespread panic but everyone else I knew loved them. I would always go along to the concerts for that feeling. Where can I go now I wonder. I could really use that.
i was there too, it was magic
Magical
You summed up what I feel like every time I hear these songs Magic
That's because Jimmy really is a magician!
Jimmy just did an interview where he said playing with TBC was a career highlight. I'm a 56 year old Zep head, saw them live in the '70s, and he is so right. Live at the Greek is one of the all time greatest live rock albums.
It's fantastic and it's so overlooked. The Crowes were one of the only American rock bands making some noise in the 90s. Chris Robinson was a great front man.
Yeah, Live at the Greek - was that Plant singing? Wow, Robinson sounded great.
Way Word ...the great thing about that is that Chris’ voice didn’t sound like some tribute band voice. His own singing style just naturally captured the essence of the original part. A rare thing.
@@divadjm Sooooo very Right You Are! Yeah, I knew I liked him for more than TBC. Thanks, mark - well done.
@@dannyh5937 "The Crowes were one of the only American rock bands making some noise in the 90s." Huh? Were you asleep the first half of the decade?
That was a classic Jimmy Page solo. Love it.
This was awesome with all the different guitar parts nailing it for a live show. Freed is a badass getting all the nuances in there. When they kicked it in it sounded so thick and explosive. I wasn't expecting that.
The way Gorham holds it all together on the drums is pretty impressive.
“Old Weird” Ed Harsch killin it on the organ at the beginning! R.I.P.
John paul Jones is tough to follow. But he did it.
I wonder why Ed left or got ousted or whatever happened and what he is up to. I played what I thought was a similar style and setup, lots of wurlitzer and b3 and some piano, and his playing was so perfect for that style or for any really. I just always was blown away at how much soul he packed into a note. Like jimmy actually.
Oops I see the rest in peace now. I have been out of it a while. Via con Dios Ed wherever you are.
Agreed! To me that cat just seems otherworldly! RIP Ed
@@ChrisWoodBandit yeah he’s on the other side now I feel the same way you do. Something so special about that guy.
Jimmy Page, Audley Freed, and Rich Robinson. Can’t go wrong with that trio of guitarists👍
Man i love jimmy's playing style! The faces, the movement, everything.
This is the coolest thing to ever happen
Black Crowes and Jimmy Page 💥 explosive combination ❤️ 🙋🏼♀️ love music ☀️
"It's Jimmy Page...Jimmy Page...you ROCK!!!"
If you love hard rock, it just doesn't get much better than this.
Still got my ticket stubs from a show on this tour. Talk about a memory. Jimmy Page what a legend
No one except the Crowes could’ve pulled this off. They absolutely nailed it, and Chris’ vocals are spot on!
I’ve seen the Crowes many times since the early 90’s, and this lineup with Page only did 2 live dates, as far as I know, and one was in my home state of MA. It was such an epic show. One of the best I’ve ever seen. So glad they released it on LP.
Just watched an Oxford Union interview w/Conan from 2/2020, and he mentioned the materbating bear. Hilarious the character was culled into conversation.
I was a waiter at John's (Pizzeria) of Bleeker Street in 1995, served Conan like he was any other schlep. As he was standing up from the tight-fitting wood booth, I humbly asked him if it was difficult to get tickets to see his show. He replied, "Naw, it's easy!" Digging into his wallet,
"Here's my assistant's card, give her a call and inform her what day you'd like to attend." He was just as regular as any regular guy and gracious like no celeb.
Watching this episode, I so miss those days and Conan's show; it just seemed like it'd last forever. I know Conan is doing different things now, and I've lost touch with his career/comedy, but WOW, I MISS THESE TIMES SO MUCH.
Sounds good and Hippiefeeling too, love it and let the Good Times Roll,Thank you
I really wonder if Jimmy knows how many people would feel like Conan, and just be in total awe in his presence
One of the very best Led Zepplin songs
Sung by a true Artist
I remember when this live album came out. I listened to it on repeat for months.
Same
Just caught this video today.
Cool 😎
I saw this too. Jimmy times multiple guitars showed off him as THE orchestrative genius of rock'n'roll. Bar none...
The more zep songs I discover, the better they get!! This is a fucking jam!! All hail Zeppelin for Ever!
where have you been, this is gods music my friend. it only get better.
This is my favorite zeppelin tune.
It’s about to go down when Jimmy gets the duck lips.
Remember this album came out like 1999/2000. Page CHOSE to play with the Crowes. Shows the serious chops they have.
Amazing performance by Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes definitely doing Justice to Led Zeppelin!
Ed was definitely killing it on the organ at the beginning!
And of course Chris from the crows out there being himself and doing his own thing... just got to love it!
RiP Ed.
Some big shoes to fill,I liked it...Great seeing Pagey
Seen at them at Roseland N.Y 3 times all 3 times I got right in front of Jimmy. With the 3 guitar players it worked great.Jimmy was on spot and happy. One of the best shows I ever seen.Come on Plant one last time for the fans before it is to late
Frank Perricone I just saw the performance of the Roseland Ballroom in 1999.
All I could do was sit there and wish I was in that audience front row!! nearly made me want to cry.
I’ve got the “Live at the Greek” this was an awesome collaboration, very complimentary talent working together, killer live Zep performances, good chemistry!
Love black crowes AND Jimmy Page! What a perfect match!
cant believe I found this song after 30 years... thanks Mark Zep.
Jimmy Page makes it look effortlessly doesn't he? Zeppelin is still the greatest of all time
Indeed
Agreed fallowed by Richie Blakmore then......
Yes JP makes it look effortless but can’t agree with Zeppelin being the greatest of all time.
@@maurocurti7642 you need to clean the wax out of your ears then. that has to be it.
@@angelwilliams413 Zeppelin the greatest of all time?? I can agree that they were very good but the greatest?? There were bands before them that deserve that distinction. My ears are just fine, thanks.
this music is timeless..so well crafted
Jimmy Page! The coolest ever!
Might be one of the best multi-generational musical collaborations ever! Would have loved to see what they would have come up with in the studio!
that red les paul with the b bender is probably one of my favorite guitars of all time
Got to see this in Raleigh back in 2000. Right up there with seeing Jimmy and Robert on the Walking into Clarksdale tour in '98. So glad I got to see him play twice.
This is just so great 🎸
Never seen this , love it !! I'm a huge Zep fan and I love it !!
God I miss the Black Crows and then there's Jimmy MAN!!
Incredible! They were made for each other.
Excellent thanks for sharing. I caught this tour!! 🎸😊
Saw Led Zeppelin many times..always GREAT
Saw this show in Albuquerque. NM 20 years ago. Their show in Phoenix got cancelled & our city lucked out with the announcement just 3 weeks to show time. A Full Moon Saturday night with The Cult opening up, truly a once in a lifetime show!
The sense of urgency in this version is so great. Love this.
I really like the Black Crows, what a great a compliment with Jimmy Page doing one of my favorite Zeppelin tunes.
Been to hundreds of show"s! This was my favorite. Huge Zep fan and at the time had no idea they where playing pretty much all Zeppelin tunes!!!
They couldn't play any BC material cause they were still under contract with Sony.
The first time I saw Zep was (I think) 1968, here in Vancouver. Believe it or not, they were the backup band for Vanilla Fudge. The next time (1969?) they were definitely the headliners! What a show. When Jimmy pulled out the violin bow - epic!
Vanilla Fudge?? Who were they?
@@joannmartinez8295 Exactly.
Blew the Fudge off the stage I've heard.
Carmine will never let you forget zeppelin opened for the fudge 🤣
You know you're watching one of the greatest guitarists ever, when everyone else in the band is looking at him during the solo.
And no, they weren't just looking for a cue (like when he'll end the solo) 😀
Like around 4:25 during the end solo of Your Time is Gonna Come....
They're professional as heck but
... Come on, it's Jimmy Page you're playing next to!!!!!!!
Absolutely brill jimmy Page and The Black Crows what a gr8t combo just love this rendition 🎼🎸🎤🥰
Chris handled himself quite well with Conan’s questions.
I love you Mark Zep. Thanx for the Page and this smokin hot Crowes. DAF 🎶💯🤸🏻♀️😜
I was thinking that when they played. I would never be able to come to grips with Jimmy playing next to me.
I'd be thinking: "That's right, Jimmy right where he should be!"
Nah
Saw this tour in Los Angeles. Both nights. It was absolutely amazing
RIP Eddie Harsch.. Peace and love..
This was such a great collaboration
I saw both of their shows at the Greek Theater in 1999, which were pretty amazing. The double album that came from it "Live at the Greek" was missing some of the best performances, but nonetheless this was among the best live shows I've ever seen.
I've heard that same thing from multiple people and I have been looking for a copy of those. Someone actually just robbed me and got everything in my car including the Greek cd so I need the whole thing now dammit.
I would have loved to seen any of their performances together the Crowes and Jimmy Page or just magic together!
@@ChrisWoodBandit if you are Black Crowes fan you may want to pick up the Super Deluxe re-release of Shake Your Money Maker.
I already have a vinyl and CD copy
AWWWEEESSOOMMEEE. We actually went to the amphitheater in WestPalmBeach...not knowing the show had been cancelled. What a freakin shame. The whole thing. Thank you so much for posting this.
I don’t really remember what was exactly going on in my life back then for me to not be aware this tour was happening. One of my great regrets in the concert arena not seeing this.
I’m with you. I think some of it was a sense they were both has - beens and it was a gimmicky move to stay relevant. Which it was ... but they played well.
Well just be thankful for RUclips.... you get to enjoy it now.
Chris Robinson shaking his money maker for for all it's worth... got to love him!
And Jimmy Page well he's just mind-blowing! never got to see Zeppelin live but I always hoped one day I would sadly that day never came.
From an old Led Zeppelin major fan, this was good!
20 years since Zeppelin ended and now 21 years since this was broadcast time flies kiddos.
Ain’t that the truth, warp speed.
Pedal to the metal, infinitely accelerating away from the days of great rock...help...
Wow... but good music ages like fine wine!!
Jimmy was playing so well in the late 90s and early 2000s . For that short period of time he was playing his best guitar post 73 and was far better than anything he was playing on the last few zep tours . He was having such a resurgence through this period and getting sober definently played a huge role and seemed like he was actually practicing but then just as quick as the jimmy of old reappeared he disappeared completely . He really good have reinvented himself and had an impressive solo career . None of those sour bends and out of key notes that marred his playing for so many years and was really overcoming the loss of fluidity .
So true
As a live player Jimmy was so inconsistent
Steve just incredible here, as are all the band!
I love the whole rock genre
Jimmy’s using the B-bender on his guitar to create those lap slide guitar, crying effects. Very tastefully done.
The drummer really steal the show !!
Steve Gorman
They were making the late night show rounds. Lucky for us !!
A God with the greatest band of their generation😁
You got the first part right at least. 😂
@@Splifftone lol
This has got to be the absolute coolest video I've seen all year. Thanks for sharing.
Holy shit tho,Jimmy was on point, love this,God bless the BC's for this collaboration,so damn cool!
You mean bless Jimmy Page, it was his idea.
This was a great collaboration. Jimmy is greatness and having additional guitarist allowed him to explore live all those brilliant overdubs he added to Zeppelin records. Too bad they didn't do more. Apparently, Rich Robinson wasn't having it. Unfortunate.
Nice cover. Great job. Of course the original can't be beat, but I enjoyed this performance
Just being able to walk in Plant's footsteps and succeed makes Chris Robinson one of the best frontmen ever.
This tour was Jimmy's best tour after Led Zeppelin, in my opinion.
Obviously you must have missed the Page and Plant tour during the mid 90s. That show was unreal.
@@Tom-ok2rh Yes I saw Page/Plant tour in 95....epic show.
@@astroman30 Yes it was. And when they opened with “The Wanton Song” I’ll never forget I felt the pounding of that opening beat right in my chest. They both looked like they enjoyed playing for the audience cause it was just as good as seeing Led Zeppelin live which I did in 75 but let’s say that was my younger days and that concert was a little cloudy if you know what I mean 😂😂
@@Tom-ok2rh I'm super jealous you got to see Led Zeppelin. Would love to have seen them.
Let’s all agree that the mid 90’s to 2000 was a great time for a new generation to experience these amazing songs performed by the creative geniuses that wrote them. I was 17 years old in 1998 when Page and Plant came to Portland, my hometown, and my buddies and I got tickets... best show I have ever seen
At first I never liked the idea of him and the Black Crowes teaming up but I warmed up to the idea and one day I was sitting in a down and out dive bar in the late 90s early 2000s -
I can’t remember But they are goes Jimmy page and The Black Crowes still in the lemon Song screaming over the jukebox and I loved it!
I missed this tour :( Ok could you guys do it again... 2022 seems like a great idea to me!
Live at the Greek is really something special✌️
It would be so cool, and at the same time intimidating to play guitar on the same stage with Jimmy Page
