Such incredible talent in one video, no back up tracks, no audio tune, just perfectly crafted, emotional and timeless rock n roll. What.a legendary performance!
I keep circling back to this amazing live performance. David Letterman gave a LOT of up-and-coming bands their national TV break. He knew the impact of his platform...before it was called a "platform".
This is great!!!! They look like they are having a good time. Chris looks so young here. I can also hear the Rolling Stones influence big time. Thanks for this. It made my Sunday night better listening to these guys🤘.❣🎸🎹🎤🥁❣🤘
I never saw this till now WOW. Amazing. Letterman was the shit. Paul on the keyboard like he was with them in the garage or basement like my band in the day just we nevef made it past the bar stage but all good we had a blast. Excellent ❤
@@bobbyanderson7133mee too, 16 years old. I remember so vividly when I was watching Much Music and the announced that Freddie Mercury died. These were big moments in music history.
Jesus, I remember seeing them in concert for the first time in 1989! Saw them with Lenny Kravitz, Robert Plant, The Cult... I really miss the good ol' days. No internet meant going out and ljving each day to the fullest!
I recall seeing this when 1st run. Never heard these guys before, but I immediately liked them. Early Rolling Stones feel. It was this or their next appearance when Letterman said "they're a great rock and roll band that makes you want to turn a dump over and take home a waitress" paraphrasing, but pretty close. Great groove.
The only similarity is that Chris DOES borrow a LOT from Jagger. IN FACT the first time they did TV Chris spoke with a London accent the whole interview
Johnny Colt and Steve Gorman are missing because of Letterman's damn house band (damn good band BTW but c'mon) plus this is pre Eddie Hirsch and the great, GREAT Marc Ford. He is THEEEE single biggest reason why I developed the style of guitar playing that I have. The records with him are timeless.
I woke up. Full of joy and the musical styling called The Black Crowed. Love them. Love the lead singer. Yes a Soulful Performer. When are you coming to Baltimore, MD? It would be nice.
@@supermarionickyt7430 I'm sure it was a sweet deal to have the Crowes agree to have half the band sit it out. Was pretty common for Paul to sit in with musical guests, but his piano was cranked, and he drowned out Rich and Chris in a good bit of the song. And while I always respected Anton as a percussionist, a big part of the Crowes sound is the pure Rock drumming supplied by Gorman! I'm pretty sure the Black Crowes would have been a success anyway, but I guess an endorsement from Letterman and Shafer opened some doors, lol.
Oh my god yes!!! I think they shine through more than any other influence. Everyone ALWAYS points right to the Stones but anyone with a more well rounded record collection will, like yourself, hear the Faces first and foremost. I've always hear some Humble Pie in there as well. I think the big Stones thing comes from Rich's rhythm style and him using open G tuning a lot. Very Keith Richards.
I saw them opening for Michael Schenker twice. 35 minute set, tight and killer! A few years later, they opened their show with an 18 minute acoustic jam. Ugh!!
In this shows never let the rhythm sections of the guest bands play...they have to send to commercials too quick with music from the "house band"...no time to change...LOL!
Sucks that bass player Johnny Colt and drummer Steve Gorman were not playing. What a joke. I’m sure they felt terrible about missing their TV debut opportunity. Anton and Will are great but they aren’t in the Crowes! Shaffer I get it as the Crowes did not have a keyboard player at this point. Eddie came along later but ex Allman Brother
OK; Goes without saying that Will Lee and Anton Fig are stellar players, but why did they do this so much. I'm reasonably sure the guys who were actually IN the band could have pulled this off. Some kinda union shit?
jesus Christ, I spotted the Guitar Center guy folks. ^^^ please impress us with your knowledge of music theory as if most music fans would even care. it's how it makes you feel brother, not what you look like playing it. ya dig?

I played this over and over for months in 1990/91. Still listen to the BCs daily.Once your a fan you are a fan for life.
I watched this live on tv back in the day, epic❤
Me too! I loved it!👍😎🎶🎶🎶
I ued to love this band. They brought back memories of the great rock bands like The Faces. Just gut wrenching, foot stompin' rockin'
I immediately got Rod Stewart and the Faces kind of vibe.
Stewart, Stones, etc… Fan-Tasss-Tic
Shows how Stones Faces Aerosmith have all worked the same territory while having success in their own way...
Which is really Steve Marriott you're feeling.
Ronnie Lane still lives!
More like The Stones.
I love how Paul Schaefer just steps right up to bat. Its raining men! . Awesome jam!
If Cain and Abel had gotten along...imagine the music they could have made....this is one of the greatest albums ever...
They put out loads of albums. The push and pull between the two created the music. Plus the solo stuff by both was really good too
Agreed
I loved the collaboration with Page. It may not have gone well with them personally but I thought they killed it in a good way
This is great!!!! They look like they are having a good time. Chris looks so young here. I can also hear the Rolling Stones influence big time. Thanks for this. It made my Sunday night better listening to these guys🤘.❣🎸🎹🎤🥁❣🤘
When Jagger was asked what he thought of The Black Crows, he said "I hate being imitated"
This song fuckin rocks.

Great song. I remember when it came out when I was 17. Still great over 25 years later.
I was 14. It's been 32 years. Crazy how the time flies.
They are mai favorit band.Greatest!
You mean 35 years. I know it sucks.

This was how they often did it on the late show.
As I remember it Stevie Ray Vaughan did the same thing, he played without Double Trouble.
Wonderful. Just wonderful.
Even though I just glanced through this show, the impact makes me search for it on youtube.
This jam is my morning wake up🎉
Que gran banda los cuervos!!!!

flat out tumbling dice ripoff
Сильнейшие рокеры суперская группа рок 🎸 навсегда здорово 👍
Rock N Roll is about attitude. They are rockers with an attitude. They are a great band.
Paul was like, "F'IT... I GOT THE GAIN. I'LL DO IT LIVE!!!
Thanks for this!
Sounded great as always! You know it aint easy to sing that good when you just snorted a gagger of some primo Bolivian marching powder!!!
True blue rock and roll at its finest!
All that and the most amazing, it sounds just like the record.
Amazing

Staple of Rock and Roll when this album dropped
カッコいい。。
Underrated
Damn. Straight up rock and roll.
Seeing them, and seeing them now.. wow... time has not been kind
I woke up. Full of joy and the musical styling called The Black Crowed. Love them. Love the lead singer. Yes a Soulful Performer. When are you coming to Baltimore, MD? It would be nice.
This was a great performance, but where's Steve Gorman and Johnny Colt?
This was SO good............except for the fact they cut the song short and totally omitted the ending guitar solo.
9 October, 1990
Mountains and mountains of cocaine
If I am not mistaken that is the fantastic Anton Fig behind the drums!
RM P Maybe, although their drummer was Steve Gorman.
Yes that would be Anton. Will Lee is also on bass.
THAT is Mr. Fig

I always detected a flavor of the faces , with the Black Crowes .

One great band in the musical desert of the '90s. Self-destructed much too soon.
No doubt.Plenty of talent
Musical desert of 90's? Did you ever heard about something called grunge?
@@juanjogarcia7368 yes, if you could play 3 chords on the guitar, one note on the bass, hit the drums and scream off key you could be a star
@@juanjogarcia7368 yea it largely was a drug infested wasteland. Alice In Chains was the best though
This had to be 89 or 90. But ya until grunge broke through it was pretty bleak with hairbands. These guys took it backwards in the best of ways
Paul killing it
For a few years they were my favorite band in the world.Then...............things change
jam1ga I really enjoy their early stuff, like this. But then- as you say- they changed and I was never into that sort of stuff...
They blew it. I discovered them with this show that night. Learned to play 6 songs off 'Money Maker'. Then they went stoner-boring and lost me.
I saw them opening for Michael Schenker twice. 35 minute set, tight and killer! A few years later, they opened their show with an 18 minute acoustic jam. Ugh!!
Read the Book, thats how I got here.
damn the black crowes and Sheifer ? on letterman ??? Adnee Constantin stop thinking I am a fool!!!
Schaffer is honkytonk awesome!!!
Paul Schaffer worked jamming with these black crowes
Jody
Fuck yes.
They cut the lead guitar on the tag out. Other than that they sounded good.
Crazy how much Chris looks like Iggy Pop in here.
~♥~
Where is Johnny Colt?
Where is the rest of the band?

Rock Hall has zero taste, all I can say.
Daaam! Hell ya!
Who are bass and 3rd guitar
😉 🍻 👊
Larry David on the keys

Wow... The late night band didn't homogenize it too badly.
OK; Goes without saying that Will Lee and Anton Fig are stellar players, but why did they do this so much. I'm reasonably sure the guys who were actually IN the band could have pulled this off. Some kinda union shit?
NO...... it is convenience . The show's band is all plugged in and tuned
American Oasis. Led by two arrogant brothers with minimal talent. Yeesh.
Proper Rick n roll. Got that swagger stones and faces groove. Not like that rock Zep crap. They could never swing like this. Too heavy
Bunch of bar cords on “10”.
jesus Christ, I spotted the Guitar Center guy folks. ^^^ please impress us with your knowledge of music theory as if most music fans would even care. it's how it makes you feel brother, not what you look like playing it. ya dig?
It's called 'groove', numb nuts.
Hey Tommy Guns. It’s obvious that you don’t even play. It’s barre chords which you don’t even know what they are
The very last great rock and roll band!!!!!!
Why do I get Aerosmith vibes from this
Reminiscent of the Faces for me, same energy.😊
Rod and the Faces without question
