I'm black. Had never heard of them. Then they performed this live on the AMAs or Grammys.
I lost my g*dd*mn mind. Fan ever since. I know it is cliche, Southern Harmony album was on my IPod in Iraq, helped me make it through. War is still a thorn in my pride. Music is still my remedy. Peace.
If you like reggae also try 12 foot ganja plant it just comes to mind when you mentioned something to the effect of upbeat casual music like this not quite as energetic but it's in the zone just thought I'd mention I'm in music nut as you can see
@@toolguyslayer1 Thanks, but do you mean 10 ft ganja plant? I seen ten but not twelve.
Also, specific song recommendations?
thank you for your service. The Crowes have good musical genetics - from Macon Georgia, grew up with a dad in local bands and they heard Otis Redding and The Allman Bros in their house growing up. Good stuff and it shows.
Vernon.
Thank you sir for your service.
God bless and rock on.🌼🇺🇸
Thanks for your service and rock on
The best 70s band of the 90s
When I first heard them, i thought they were from the 70s lol. So true.
This comment should have at least a 1000 likes lol
Well stated!
@@atf7923 Ehhh the sound quality, you can tell it was recorded in the 90s. Lol
Yeah Jack White ripped them off... He was in like three 70's bands in the early 2000's. LOL
The lead singer expended all nine of his lives during this take. I approve.
Hahah. Perfect!
Best and most accurate comment ive ever seen
gospel background vocals taking everyone to church ❤ miss the radio playing these positive songs, song still rocks me today
Amen!
In fact, Black Crowes has a new song now being played on the radio.
The first two seconds and I heard it was them.
It's called Wanting and Waiting, I believe.

This song screams Southern gospel and Delta blues. Chris Robinson definitely has the inner Soul in spades. Makes me want to sip Southern Comfort with a good pair of headphones on to absorb the rich, soulful sounds. The opening chord progression, bluesy piano and the backing vocals just makes one want to get up and groove.
Chris Roberson is one criminally underrated singer of all time. Dude still has the pipes and TBC are just one hell of a great American rock and roll band.
He is kickin ass on the new single...
The problem is he was such a self-centred d-bag the rest of the band couldn't stand him.
Robinson
@@minkorrh Don't disagree with that statement, but by all accounts his brother was shit as well just as Arrogant as he was.. If you like the Rolling Stones, both Keith and Mick have expressed how much they have not liked each other. But that's what family member's do, they fight.
@@70Slinger Yeah....whaddya do? Need a wider vision to keep the crap out of the business, but how many times have we seen this story? Oasis comes to mind. Those two are genius idiots.
What a banger man
The backing vocals are just heavenly to listen to! This song is timeless in my opinion
Yes❤❤❤
we have five guys who looked like they walked right out of the 60's, then we have Bob from accounting on drums.
@mountaingoat1003 Or an agent from the Matrix
Brilliant!
Every band needs that member who doesn’t fit in, Cheap Trick’ Bunny looks like he is Milton (from Office Space) long lost relative, and yet he is a real good drummer
😂😂😂 😂😂😂 - Funny thing is, in all the iterations of this band, besides The Robinsons, Bob from accounting was the stayingist band member. And oh yeah, he could play the shit out of some drums!!! Bob from accounting, that's funny......😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂
Those glasses... lol!!!
The back-up singers really rock, my goodness!
They look like they really admire Chris
They’re the MVPs of the song
That would be Barbara & Joy.
A Southern rock band always needs the best gospel singers!
Hell ya!
@@jackleonardo2167 Do you have any other information about the backups singers?
This song is an absolute rock n roll masterpiece.

Those girls are killing it on the backup vocals
Got them straight outa church !!
Barbara Mitchell and Taj Artis....both very talented women and have sung on tracks I'm sure you are all familiar with.
@@timsullivan67thank you so much, I've been trying to find their names ❤
I swear, Chris Robinson is half late 60s/early 70s British glam rocker and half manic Southern street preacher dancing with snakes and speaking in tongues.
The Black Crowes are magic.
That is one weird analogy but it seems to fit LOL
Indeed. They are weird magic, but super 🔥 hot.
Reminds me of Alice Cooper. Under my wheels video.. but def Mick jagger and 70s glam rock
At all levels 🙌🌪❤️
Steve Marriott reincarnated, but with a guitarist brother.
The backing singers have voices of angels, they make the song.
hell yeah
They're alright. Don't buy into that "white privilege" shit...cause it sounds like you're kissin' azz.
@@hjs1378 My comment is based on merit, not skin colour. Having worked in a music a Studio as a teenager whilst learning to Code, My job now is far away from that, but I saw tons of stars and what i found impressive was the backing singers who do harmonies. In a lot of cases when you heart a song minus the harmonies and BG singers it can be very different. We all hear music differently. If they were white my comment would be the same!
"White privilege". is not something I buy into, and is no influence to my comment. I dont know why you would draw this conclusion?
Not meant as a put down but don't they look like either one of them could pick Chris up by the scruff of his neck and use him for a human, well ... use your imagination !!
Gotta say, they did a great job !!
Absolutely true
Those ladies take a good song and make it great.
And let's not forget about Bob from Accounting.
Thankfully his finished those amortization tables in time to be in the video 😂
Right!?! Check out Howard Stern's (very) recent interview with the band. At one point, he has the current backup vocal sing the chorus to this song. It was legit. He also kept kvetching at the brothers to "look into each other's eyes and say 'you're the love of my life' because he has been bitching for years about them breaking up. Great interview. Sorry, you made the comment I wanted to make so I had to pass on this info to you.
They would show Bob more, but he just makes them look bad😂
😆😅😂🤣👍🏼🎶♥️💫✨
This has to be the best blues rock song ever.
I'd say something by Led Zeppelin but this is close. I wished I'd gotten to see these guys play with Jimmy Page when they went on tour together yrs ago. Ive seen clips and it was awesome.
You Must Be Joking....a match head in the pan
Chris Robinson's dancing is the best part of this video. And his screams toward the end
Kicking it.....to lay me forward
He was feeling every part of the music..🤘
I take enough to please me....
He channels Jagger & then blows right past him.
The best part of every video😂
Oh, the irony of Chris Robinson's very first line in this song -- "Baby, baby why can't you sit still?"
Lol haha
True😂😂❤️👍🌼

Yep, WARNING PI COMMENT: they got all the biscuits at breakfast. Are they really gonna let those boys starve to death?
Oh yeah they make the song. It wouldn't work without em.

Cool brother Chris!
😱🥺😆
That's Southern rock and pure soul!
They were labeled by Melody Maker magazine as "The most rock 'n' roll rock 'n' roll band in the world"
Wow, now that is a BIIIIIIG statment :)
I'm not disagreeing, I'm just questioning the validity of the argument!
When Seattle Sound/Grunge/Pop Punk hit the scene bands like Social Distortion and The Black Crows blew your mind!
Social D started in ‘83…
I love these freaky boys! The backup singers totally make this song happen.
Love the ladies doing back up. So much soul.
Very underrated band, not sure why. Such a classic rock, blues feel. They are amazing to see live, I seen them with Aerosmith in 06 and they outperformed their Headliners
Very Underrated!!! 💯 💯 💯
Nah...... they suck!!! LOL!!! **JUST KIDDING** 😁 ... This straight forward blues based theme is not the most original thing ever, but it doesn't matter really, the feeling they capture here, is what rock n roll is ALL ABOUT!!! I wouldn't say that the Crows are "underrated" ... they certainly got a lot more recognition than other bands that are actually better, but this number here is quite electrifying!!! MAKES ME JUMP AROUND LIKE CHRIS ROBINSON IS DOING HERE!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!
Ive loved this group since the first time I heard them in 1994...
Saw them in LA in the nineties. Phenomenal under rated band!❤
They didn't quite cut it on tour, as the women backup singers were not there.
Those backing vocals are just awesome
Soul sisters always deliver
Except during chorus, the backing vocalists singing the main part, while lead singer singin back up. Never noticed before.
This is a kick ass song.End of story.
without a doubt they make this song what it is
That would be Barbara & Joy-who really did fantastic backing vocals & harmonies on The Southern Harmony… album.
Hands down my favorite Black Crowes song. Always has been since it came out. That’s just me though. 🙂
Nah. Not just you. ❤
Not just YOU...

And my roommate Chris Robinson still rips a bong hit lol
This song is great but it is not hard to sound better than the music of today.
For sure.
Love me some Crowes…. The band who was always stuck in their own time warp and didnt care what anybody thought about it. Awesome!
I just found this band.. THE BLACK CROWS!! and they're AWESOME..
Still an energy boost every morning after all these years… still rocking it
Ha...I listen in the morning at work for energy jolt!
Hell Yes!!!!! That, my friend is what American rock 'n' roll is all about!!!!!👍
I like how most of these dudes were pulled straight from 1971, but the drummer looks like he needs to go be the key speaker at an HR seminar at 3:30 this afternoon
jaja... looks like he is acting in the Matrix to me!!
😂😂
This song is criminally underrrated and should be in the pantheon of all-time great tracks......This song is simply amazing.....Engaging lyrics, but my god is the rhythm for this track PERFECT. The drums sound incredible and the guitars are on another level.....the Crowes are underrated as a band, but this is their magnum opus......not a bad note to be found.
@@NubsWithGuns When I say criminally underrate I'm talking about its placement on all-time lists, if its even on all-time lists. It was on the radio a lot when it was new, Im not disagreeing with that. Im saying the song is a all-time rock classic and isnt discussed as one.
I agree. This song is in my top 20 Rockn roll song of all time. Perfectly constructed rock song.

Timeless masterpiece it never get old
Hi 👋
feeling like a kid just finding my lost toy after 30 years
I'm from Atlanta, we used to see them playing packed out clubs under the name Mr. Crows Garden. Chris was 15yo, Rich was 16yo and their momma had to accompany them because of age. The epitome of Atlanta rock-and-roll!!!
Mr Crowes Garden started in 84 and Chris was 18 and young Rich was 15. The Black Crowes debut was cut in 89 and released early in 90. Chris was 23 when it was recorded and Rich was 20. What a great band
I was undergoing cancer surgery and my daughter got them to autograph a concert poster for me. Great guys!
Stay blessed 💕
I wish you a full and speed recovery. God bless you and your family.
I just had surgery last week and listening to this while recuperating.. great song!! .I plan to see them in concert in July, hope it happens!!
Yes they are good ppl. God Bless you my Prayers are with you
I hope you are better and the cancel removed. Not just for you but your entire family. Hope it isn't yet your time. Gods blessings
when I was a pre-teen I dreamed of being this singer so free, I was so innocent, today many years later the sound still makes me excited
Go for it !!

I might have heard 3 albums total in my life that remain no-skip albums even after listening countless times, and as much as I absolutely Love Southern Harmony, Shake your Money Maker is one of those albums.
I like Better Than Ezra's "How Does Your Garden Grow?" in that regard, totally no skip.
@@AVirtualTourist If I'm honest, I hadn't even listened to that album, but thanks for the suggestion. I'm always looking to expand my musical repertoire. Thanks!
The best moving vocalist in the history of rock. In fact he moves almost too well.
This is one of my favorite video clips ever. Chris reminds me a lot of Mick Jagger here, not only because of his moves and flawless 70's look but also because he is really performing. It's nearly impossible to take our eyes away from him.
He is truly captivating...really is hard to look away from him
With a tad of Scott Weiland, may he RIP.
Yes!
The guitar player is obviously a study of Keith Richards as well!
Jagger / Stones with an option on Paul Rogers in his Free days.
Jagger, with a hint of Iggy Pop and a splash of Joe Cocker ?
Bless to all still jamming to this in 21'
DAMN! That's a great song! Never ever gets old.
That song caught me in 1992. I felt it was like 70's music brought into the 90's. I bought the album "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion" as soon as I found it in the record store. Wonderful! I also bought the cd single of "Sting Me" and I just now found out that I (in Holland) had bought the Australian version (no idea why but I'm not complaning!) that also had live versions of Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women (No. 12 & 35)" "Twice As Hard" (remix), and John Lennon's "Jealous Guy" (live) on it. I took it into the Sam Sam bar in Amsterdam that I frequented at that time when I was living in Amsterdam. About 18 months later I went back there and they still had it so I got my cd back :)
Saw them last night in Birmingham, Al. They sounded fantastic! I couldn’t believe how good they sound after all of these years, it was amazing!
I'm one of the jealous fellas and a real healthy way that is just rockin
Somethings just don't age ...
Saw them years ago. They were in Birmingham Alabama a few weeks ago. I wasn't able to go. I live in Brewton Alabama a little ways from Birmingham. I miss the Eighties And early Nineties music soooo much!
