I'm Gen X, my dad is a Boomer. I played this song for him for the first time 30 years ago. My dad's reaction in 1993..."this guy is a rock star."
I'm a Boomer and loved this when it first came out...and still do!!
You're a Good Man 😊
🕊
I’m a boomer and *I* would have played it for YOU! 😂

Happy 60th birthday, Lenny!
The coolest 70's band of the 1990's
The 90s was the last great decade. I'm glad I grew up during it to hear the amazing music it had
Oh me to🎉
I was a conscript in the army in 1993 driving an APC where we could pick up the local radio station on the intercom playing this song several times a day. Listening to this song while barrelling down the road with a heavy machine gun on the roof was quite the experience.
That would be badass!😂
It is a CRIME this song doesn’t have a BILLION views.
No That'd be the Crime
Song is classic. It wil live without views. Who care about? Simple
Lenny's outfit, the stage design, the lighting design, the music, the lyric and that female drummer, everything is so perfect....
The drummer is Cindy Blackman Santana (wasn’t his wife then, though), quite an accomplished drummer. Agreed, she’s great both when it comes to looks and her performance. Actually, the rest you mentioned is also superb. :)
Maybe is just my feeling but music videos were on an other higher level back then
@@MLCrow Like music as a whole. Rock. R & B. Rap. Metal. The music industry has killed itself. The only way to save real music is start from the group up...a real grassroots movement to bring music back to the people. To start we must provide schools with money for instruments. Centers in every city for people to play, learn and collaborate. Free shows in the parks, bands in the bars and clubs. And first and foremost, the absence of a few rich powerful dolts at the top determining what should and should be promoted.

Ladies and gentlemen, Lenny should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I don't think I am wrong. This is a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!

This belongs among the list of great classic rock anthems. The lyrics are catchy, the riff is awesome, bass is thunderous.
This is absolute garbage, the fact that you believe this belong in the list with bands such as KORN & System of a Down disrespectful
@@ambitiousproductions3224 I'm talking Zeppelin, the Who, the Stones, ect.. 70s rock, this song has absolutely nothing to do with the 90s other than being recorded in 93..

I wonder when people say they love classic Rock but not Lenny?? Missing out. I'd say.
Loved it in 93.And in 2024 listens to it on RUclips,Lenny Kravitz brilliant.
My teen days,,, when music was music cool music ruled
Cindy Blackman’s drumming on this is just epic and makes the song for me
What a serious guitar riff...brilliant bass..brilliant drumming...one of the best if not the best Rock Anthems ever made....
Yes, the musicianship in this is brilliant.
Right!!! that little break at 0:53 is so classic rock!! but still modern Idk how to explain it! Then the bassline is just !!🤤
Come on, it’s catchy but so cliche
Hi I recommend checking out a song called 'the bond villain' By Robert Nix
Hearing Lenny Kravitz talk about it, it was just a jam at the studio that came together as a song at the last minute. At the time even they didn't know how fire it really was.
Love this song! I’m 72 years old but this makes me feel like a teenager again! I just wish someone…. Anyone in the video would smile! They’re all trying to look so aloof and cool that they don’t look like they’re having fun. And that’s a FUN song! Still love it, though. Lenny’s awesome.
Cheers

It's an interesting observation actually. The video tries to recreate a 70ies vibe, they got the Rock n' Roll right but forgot about the Peace and Love.
I am 80 years old and loved this tune and Lenny Kravitz from day one. I may be getting senile and eyesight not as good as back in the day.....but there is nothing wrong with my HEARING!!! I Went straight out and bought this c.d. which I still have. I hope many more generations will love it as much as I still do!!!

Best Lenny song, yes! The riffs, the metronome drummer, the energy, the SOUND! Best listened to on headphones or a legit hi-fi system with the speakers far apart. If you've never done either, treat yourself. It's a trip! Loved this since the first time I heard it in my Dad's FC Rx7. He cranked it up, and redlined the rotary. Now I'm 40 and still cranking this song!
Indeed. A pair of quality KZ IEMs and even on RUclips it sounds phenomenal.

It is still THE song that first comes to mind when I hear the name Lenny Kravitz! 😎🍻

Man, one thing I miss about the 90's, everybody was more open with each other, we all loved music and openly jammed out, didn't feel divided by bullshit, always meeting new people and having fun.
Hard to explain how iconic and popular this song was when it came out. It blew up the airwaves, and the video was also legendary with its energy....it's a real rock video, showcasing the incredible talent in the group, and those crazy rockers jumping levels at the end - also legendary!
That guitar riff never never gets old. It sounds vintage...really cool.

Great comment...it Should be
the way rock should be... we need it back !!
So do I.....Priceless
The sound engineering is amazing. Each instrument is perfectly identifiable. What a great fucken song!
I'd agree with that. Great comment! The guitars are super clear! The bass also sounds great and it's just a well recorded song. I can't get over the guitar lead sound myself...the air waves compress and expand before his solo and his effects are just super subtle but evidently clear...it just takes each step and they got it right in letting it transition like it sounds as opposed to trying to smooth out the effects turning on and up. It sounds amazing! The drums too. Sounds like it was recorded in a high end music store after the instruments were tuned by a sound guy professionally...but..hey..who knows..if these payers are who they appear to be..it could just be them but..who knows...the studio or the stage..things can be deceptively good or bad...and when tuned electronically..well..you can bring up some real quality sounds..I really like this song alot and the guitarists got some respect here...they made these instruments sound amazing and real! That's really cool...and it was really different at the time of release as well so...very cool song and video and definitly a song for the future and today. When the hell was yesterday? I dunno but theres a middle and 2 futures...one with the MC5 velevelt underground beef heart zappa and all kinds of amazing music and another with Kravitz sound garden Metallica etc...theres always these middle grounds...the past becomes the future because it really belongs there...nothing can get old..it can only be cool and get handled again and again..thats whats what. I hope it all comes around again.

I'd never even thought about that before, but you're so right.
So easy to just focus in on each instrument, whilst it's coherent.
As a massive Hendrix fan, I have to say this is the only person who comes close in all respects - showmanship, technical ability and most importantly, the emotion. This song is our modern Voodoo Child.

Most overlooked song of the entire 90’s decade. Timeless riff and hook.
rxp56 wasn’t overlooked then. In fact it was played almost too much. But now, when 90’s music is remembered, its overlooked for Seattle bands and the gin blossoms sounding bands that followed.
Could end up like the Blues Brothers movie: a bit underwhelming when released, did OK but nothing truly amazing. But with time, it became a cultural icon, elevated to legend status. I think this song is in that category - it will become iconic.
Having one of the coolest videos ever made doesn't hurt it either.
Overlooked song? How about artist? Is Lenny respected, yes. Does he get the props he deserves? Nowhere near.
Is this not the “I just wanna make love to you” riff from Foghat, the intro guitar?

At a time when classic hard rock/blues rock, tasteful guitar solos and Flying V's etc weren't popular, Lenny and his team come out with this. It was what classic rock fans needed in a landscape of grunge and alternative rock. I've always been more into metal but this song always has me reaching for my guitar and banging a few licks from it. The lead guitarist with Lenny is absolutely super.
I was a grunge/alternative kid but really dug this song when it came out.
And now, 30 years later, grunge and alternative are considered classic rock!

I had quite the sound system back in the day in my car, and was jamming to this at high volume with a friend at a long stoplight (As a petulant teenager does), and noticed several cars adjacent to me start rocking and the windows rolled down, and we all were rockin' to it. So I turned it up... Apparently, the song is so good, instead of them getting bent with me, they DID, "go my way." Life lesson: Turn up Lenny Kravitz and make friends immediately. Also, partial hearing loss.
Lenny Kravitz is named in memory of his Uncle, PFC Leonard Kravitz of the US Army, who is a posthumous recipient of the Medal of Honor(The US military's highest honor for valor in combat) for actions near Yangpyong Korea March 6-7th 1951.
