I can't wait to see these boys training with us in northern 🇦🇺. AAV is getting long in the tooth. I hope the 8x8 can handle the big variety of surfaces you find in the world's beaches.
"... in Massive Waves"... 3ft waves max, that's not massive waves, that's mere riples.
Yep, these things are basically worthless unless seas are calm. Just more wasted money.
WestPac '87 began by hitting larger waves in the Bearing Sea in January (whose bright idea was that?). The ship we were on was doing 45-degree rolls, so we had to stop in Yokosuka, Japan for repairs.
No waves. Crappy click-bait title.
Sitting ducks except in the most benign circumstances...and by the way...3' (1m) are NOT massive waves.
Designed and developed in Italy. 🇮🇹
Yes, by Iveco defence vehicles in Bolzano
All I saw in 10 minutes was calm blue water. *_"Massive Waves!"_* So for your effort in baiting me with pilfered B-roll and nothing much else, RUclips: Do Not Recommend Channel ** *_poof_*
Those are ACVs, not submarines. If you expected 'massive waves' then you've only got yourself to blame for being disappointed, Brian. Do note that it's also a perspective thing. Waves look/feels quite a bit different when one sits in one of those buckets.
@@JZsBFF It says *_massive waves_* in the title little lady. You should _actually_ think before commenting.
@@brianbassett4379 And you should be a bit nicer to people. Muted.
@@JZsBFF I'm crushed.
A good way to visit China from Taiwan.
Marines dont test things...they break things, let them loose on the Houthis and stop letting them play at the beach with their toys. lest they decide to draw crayon all over the vehicles.
Basically took an LAV and removed the turret and made it longer for more passengers. Faster, but the issue is the new ACV's ability to climb over beach obstacles that a tracked AAV can manage.
I was a Crew chief of a scout LAV25 as a forward observer. We were in 29 palms just driving around and getting a feel for the equipment.
Jake, my driver yelled over the coms “hang on corporal” as he gun it and hit a six foot tall berm.
I grabbed hold of the bar inside and tried to keep myself as stable as I could as the entire tonnage and all eight wheel went airborne, and slightly at a angle as the engine screamed for not being on the ground anymore. I was still trying to maintain a grip as my mind imagined the worst case scenario.
Fortunately the shocks on those things are as enormous as jakes balzak, because it was like landing in the snow.
Which, we did that later in Bridgeport doing cold weather mountain survival training.
Playing with those toys, it will change your life. Mostly for the better, mostly.
Why are the ACVs breaking down so much ?
I believe it after seeing how fast these guys gunned it into the ocean! 😂 Thanks for your service, mate!
Quick Q, what's it like as a crewman doing fording & landing ops? Is it scary being in a small can on the ocean?
@@corvanphoenix if it overturns you could drown since the vehicle will get flooded it's not a submarine. Also some other guy said they are breaking down so they are NOT safe and US tax payers like me are paying for vapor ware
@@corvanphoenixnever crewed on amphibious operations, just been inside the can, praying we don’t die.
Why invest into these things. We know amphibious assaults are too costly as far as casualties.
What a TARGET. Turtle SPEED to shore..
Since all of the Navy's LST (Landing Ship, Tank) have been decommissioned, perhaps that should be the new designation for this vehicle (Large, Slow Target).
My concern with this….and I’m just speaking from a U.S. Army perspective……..what is plan B when vehicle starts to sink? In the army we practiced roll over drills when a humvee or RG-31 mrap would flip over, but what if these things start sinking? What if the waves are more than 3 feet? Thats the big question for me. We have precise firepower that can take out any coastal defenses long before these things drop off marines on shore. Thats not the issue, the issue would be safety of crew when vehicle is at its most vulnerable state in deep water with that armored weight loaded with marines.

Where is the snorkel? I thought it was in the front but that appears to be a camera.
What youre seeing is the snorkel, but it is also the camera.

Huh, I worked on the development of the initial LAV-MC25 during the early '80s in Santa Barbara. It's amazing the they are still working. Kudos to the maintenance teams. Do you still need to swap out the main barrel after ever 250 rounds?
Biggest issue we had in the field with the P7A1 was busting track. You were dead stopped and had to be fully exposed to repair. I guess with these you can lose a couple tires or more and keep going so that's a huge ++
Thes AMPHIB... are old... we need to give the USMC better gear. They are sons and Daughters.

That thing would be on the ocean bottom before even one man would get out if it started to ship water - freeboard! - there ain’t none. Looks like BAE sold you yanks a bloody lemon.
Totally safe and it's military grade! 😂
It is a pity the EFV never got off the ground, but get why, the price tag was 😲😲
Is EFV electric fighting vehicle?
@@skipstreet 😀 no, Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle 👍

Asked navy if I could get one for family picnic her in Morocco
I was on the LAV and they have been around for many years. Nice to see the new thing. I just wish I could spend some time with it. I miss those days.

They dont use anything tracked anymore?
Was the drag show afterward.
They put a disco ball, sound system and a DJ above the well deck. "Land The Landing Force!" now has a whole new meaning.
Do the crew carry any breathing device incase of malfunction and the vehicle sinks?
Yes they all carry one.
Trump hit the ground like a little girl.
... hardly a challenging entry ...
What is the cable used at 5:10?
An ARMY striker variant?
I think that other vehicle they were testing would have been nicer. MUCH better speed in the water, and better armament… I would have thought it would have worked out better for them
How many ships does the navy have in service like the one towards the later part of the middle of the video?
I'd be wanting some extra pay to get in one of those things.
What happened to "Every paycheck is a fortune"?
Im not impressed.
It’s all good but not quick. Their must be better out there.
Hope they don’t sink and drown like the poor souls in that camp Pendleton accident off the coast a few years back 😮
супер👍👍👍
🤣😂🤣
they look almost as big as the LAAV... so much for sleeker.... is the armour better at least?
Can these be flown in on c5's and dropped close to shore with parachutes?
Retraining the drivers from the AAV was a nightmare. The better drivers were ones that had never driven a military vehicle before
I wonder about the top armour and anti drone defenses? Sort reminds me of ironclads, in the water..
Takes to the water like a duck after a fish
Be careful! Be very careful! My favorite cousin was killed in one of these ambitious vehicles. Drowning with all aboard! I know what I'm talking about, be very careful!
Dude dont
Oh yeah? Details? When someone says I know what I’m talking about when no one asked they usually don’t know what they’re talking about. So...... details? Where did this happen? Names? Company? Anything?

Do they wear the 1 piece camo combat swimming suit?
Rust bucket
I bet that the veterans regret not having had those on Iwo Jima.
As long as there are tampon dispensers.
Ou est-ce qu'elles sont les massives waves.
Needs a better gun capable of air and ground targeting.
Armor looks weak 😬
I wouldn’t be confident in it taking a mortar round (even more common a threat with drones)
Needs to at least have a more robust intercept system.
Even with ship support in a ship to shore situation, in a contested landing site , it needs a bit more improvement so we don’t have entire crews go down in these.

Not even close.
Sitting ducks for today’s loitering munitions and drones.

I just googled how much do these vehicles cost. Here's the answer:
The first phase, will consist of several hundred, commercial off-the-shelf wheeled armored vehicles, each costing $3-$4.5 million. It will rely on connectors to get it from ship-to-shore, like the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) and Joint High Speed Vessel.
Our Military Industrial Complex is making bank on our military.
Would these fit inside a Freedom class LCS maritime mission bay?
No. Too heavy and too tall with mission gear.
@@patrickodonogue8823 how would a armored vehicle be too heavy for a ship?
@@damongraham1398 Too heavy by virtue of deck loading. A ships deck is rated for so many pounds per square inch. A LCS is aluminum hulled and decked and not able to withstand truly heavy deck loading, such as from an ACV. Aboard amphibious ships with steel decks it’s not an issue. On a LCS it is. Further, the loading ramp of an LCS is also lightweight and can handle vehicles such as HMMWV’s, but not ACV’s or JLTV’s.
@@patrickodonogue8823 the superstructure of a Freedom class LCS is aluminum. The hull is steel. the same machine that allows them to move the helicopter may be able to move the ACV in the mission modules. By pairing the EFT with the Freedom class LCS I believe many missions could be accomplished.
@@patrickodonogue8823 mission gear can be taken off for transport and re installed for missions. The flight deck of a Freedom class LCS is steel. Still have not found the width and height of the Freedom class maritime mission bay's hatch? It has two. One on the starboard side and one in the stern.
It needs removable tracks to carry with it for when it gets stuck .
