Maybe, but the scene in general is completely stupid - Gandalf has his staff destroyed by Witchking like he was not the most powerful wizard that moment.
@@marekkrzyszczak4759 Yeah, it's a bit head scratching. Since he's Maiar you'd think the scene isn't correct with respect to the lore, but I think things are a bit ambiguous. The witch king is the most powerful of Saurons servants and basically directly wields the terror and malice of his master. Perhaps the witch king in his most powerful state had the strength to match Gandalf or even defeat him since Sauron was a banished former Maiar, at least thats what some people argue. But even without his staff Gandalf was an absolute force not to be taken lightly by anyone, even the witch king.
@@BasePuma4007 the scene differs to the book with the fact the witch king breaks Gandalfs staff but it's similar in that we don't get to see what happens. Gandalf likely would have done something. The key line is 'This is my hour.' So I totally agree with your point. The stronger Sauron is, the stronger the Witch-King is, and in that moment the forces of Mordor were winning. The extended conveys a little more of the cunning and desperation they are forced into, and why Frodo suddenly comes to such a breaking point.
As I said many times, the soundtrack in the trilogy is a masterpiece. Just perfect. As soon as Boromir speaks of his father and Gondor, the theme of the White Tree of Gondor starts playing.
oh man invest in them (they must be quite cheap now) as a present to yourself. It comes in lovely cases with extra artwork and the cases are made to look like book (these are the ones i have) . And they have two extra DVDs for each flim with cast interviews and showing how they made it. If youve watched the regular, definitely watch the extended. Its indescribable how much they enhance the movies. Not just deleted scenes, but extending scenes already in the normal version. Fleshes out the characters
That scene should be gone from the movie altogether. Gandalf killed the balrog in his grey form, then broke Saruman's staff with his voice, he would have whooped the witch king's ass no question.
this scene is false anyways, never happened in the book. They stared at eachother then the witch king flew off at the sound of the rohirrim. such a dumb scene to even add, gandalf would have whooped his ass.
Scenes like this and I wonder was pj smoking weed when he shit this, Gandalf was was more powerful in middle at this time than anyone else except Sauron
@@buffysummers7927 I think they probably added that scene to show that the witch king wasn't to be messed with, but it didn't make sense in context of Gandalf being a Maiar and the Witch-king being an undead man.
I'd argue that the Witch King breaking Gandalf's staff tops it. That feels to me like the most hopeless point in the trilogy. Saruman's death would me my second though.
@@Bart-dg6qv I was...I was saying that was the best scene that's in the extended cut but not the standard edition. Saruman's death would be second on my list.
I always liked Boromir. He seemed like such a tortured and conflicted character who only wanted to do the right thing... I think a lot of us can identify with that. Sean Bean did an excellent job playing him. I also love the “don’t give a f*ck” look on Aragorn’s face while Sauron’s puppet was mouthing off, just before he beheaded him... straight up badass.
I wish they could have spent more time with the love story of Faramir and Eowyn. Faramir was much more noble than his brother and appealed to those who are not kings, but are still worthy of love.
Faramir was not much more noble than Boromir. They both were equaly noble, kind and determened. But Boromir was prideful, much stronger, rush and charismatic, while Faramir gentle and wise. Both great, honorable and strong leaders and heirs of Denethor
Boromir was one of the noblest of all characters mate. He constantly supported his beloved brother, tried to share glory with him. He was a great fighter and absolutely brave everytime it was required of him. AND he had the weight of an entire kingdom on his shoulders. The extended scenes emphasise even more that boromir didn’t seek power for his own sake but in order to fulfil his duty to Gondor and his father. And at his end he accepted Aragorn as his rightful king. Truly one of the noblest characters on middle earth
"and he did gandalf, he did" omg the almost tears and head down in shame that Gandalf did really delivers the scene twice as hard. for all he knew the mouth of sauron was saying the truth.
Lord of the Rings is my “all time” favourite movie ever! I know this movie, every one from Fellowship of the Ring to Return of the King off my heart. I can quote every word.
Also some additional amazing scenes: Boromir's flashback after taking of Osgiliath, Gandalf dialogue with Aragorn about the heir of Numenor in the Two towers, Saruman and Grima talk about the ring of Barahir
Good list but I personally would have included the Saruman death scene and Boromir's Osgiliath speech. I really didn't like how easily Gandalf the White was beaten by the Witch-King in that RotK scene. Nothing like what happened in the book at all.
In the book it was unclear who was stronger and I get that they were trying to make the Witch-King look like a really big threat, but it seems stupid in that case that he would just fly off when Gandalf is helpless like that on the floor. Surely the Witch-King wouldn't have missed an opportunity to kill the guy who's been scuppering Sauron's plans for thousands of years?!
NicolWilliamsonFan in the greater Tolkien lore it becomes fairly clear that Gandalf would be a greater power than the Witch King....however he is still “limited” by the way he uses his power, as in, he never really lets it off the hook like Sauron or his followers would.
Lord of the Rings could have easily been made into 4-6 movies. As long as the trilogy runtime is, it does t even begin to scratch the surface of what occurred in the books. And a person who hasn't read the books then has to read the them or talk to someone who has read them in order to understand what's going on.
That is why Peter Jackson was smart by not including every single chapter from the books in the movies. Read the books for all the details. Its is one of the great lterary books just like Hemmingway etc
Jonny Doey the books are really difficult to read man. I tried and honestly I just decided to watch RUclips videos on the lore behind the Lord of the Rings.
i agree, it souldve been a 5 or 6 part set, much like harry potter, there are so much to include that wasnt in the movies, thankfully we will get the most expensive show ever to date by amazon
No you don't have to read the books to understand what's going on. I read the books after watching the movies and I was not lost at all. You're an idiot fuck head. Douche nozzle.
My favorite scene is the negotiation at the Black Gate. Aragorn refusing to believe they killed Frodo after the mouth of Sauron throws Frodos clothing at him. Shows how great his character is. Then turns around and leads an army almost to suicide knowing it would give Sam and Frodo just enough time to destroy the ring...What an awesome character in an incredible film.
Boromir is really relatable, because he has his flaws, but he tries his best he can to do what is right. Without super powers or any fantasy advantages, just the prime example of a man with sheer willpower.
Another great video! I think this is a very good list! These scenes, despite being deleted or being just in the extended versions of the movies, have, in my opinion, the same quality as the rest of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. I agree with the order you put the scenes in, the only thing I'd change would be putting the scene which is in second place in first place and the scene which is in first place in second place. But that's just my opinion! Anyways, keep doing amazing content!
Ok, so the issue with the whole "mouth of sauron" scene (apart from Aragorn's war crime) is that if MOS is trying to discourage the good guys by leading them to believe Frodo is dead, then that implies that he (and, therefore, Sauron) is aware of Frodo's quest and that he is alive somewhere in Mordor. So then it makes no sense that Sauron failed to post a garrison at Mount Doom. Probably why this scene wasn't in the theatrical release.
In the books, I think that Frodo is merely referred to as a "spy," with them being completely unaware that he had the One Ring. Further, the reason why Mount Doom was unguarded regardless is because Sauron knew that none who bore the One Ring could bear to destroy it. Even those rare few that could give it up willingly would never be able to destroy it. And... he was right. The problem is that he didn't count on Gollum destroying it (and himself) on accident.
Burt1038 ya really if it wasn’t for Gollum then they would have failed and the nazgul would have made it to them killed them both and obtained the ring. Sauron just didn’t expect him to be there
@@jradjj2988 which ties back to Gandalf saying in the fellowship of the ring (when they're going through the mines of Moria) something like 'he still had a part to play in this tale, for good or bad'.

I’ve seen the extended versions so many times that I just re-watched all the normal movies with my friend and you can only watch this with extended scenes it’s missing so much that this makes it like 100 times better it really does
The Extended Editions are 100% the best way to watch these movies after the first viewing, especially if you are a fan of the books. There are a lot of additions added that (while they kind of change the flow of the movie at times) feel like they belong and honestly, there are a lot of really good scenes in the Extended Edition. The Two Towers especially becomes quite a bit better after watching the Extended Edition.
The Extended Editions are in my view the only way to watch the movies. I remember sitting in the theatre, being impressed by the visuals and the storytelling but being a little bit disappointed that the action scenes flowed one into the other without some slight pauses, more meaningful moments and fleshed-out scenes. That was corrected when I got the Extended Version DVDs...I consider the theatrical release to be the hacked version!
These definitely should have been included. The first one adds to Boromir's character a lot, the Witch King vs Gandalf is great due to the sudden realization of Rohan's arrival, and the others are great because they add to Tolkien's vision due to them being a part of the book (aside from Aragorn chopping the Mouth of Sauron's head off which I would have liked to see changed to be more accurate).
This trilogy is ingrained in my childhood. I had so much fun growing up watching these films with my dad and acting out the battles with my friends and building my own model castles. I will always be thankful to Mr Jackson and Mr Tolkien. I have some wonderful memories. There will never be anything like it for me ever again..
7:00 I swear... nowdays, on 2019, there are no GCI effects like this, all of them look quite fake when they try to simulate fire / water, or even GCI characters..
You know what’s nuts is if you watch the behind the scenes on RotK CG scenes, they were changing and adding scenes so ridiculously fast, they were rendering each CG scene in like 1-2 days time because that’s all that had time for as opposed to a week or more in the Fellowship. Literally altering and adding right up until late November when they had to have reels ready to ship worldwide for a DECEMBER RELEASE! The graphics team were sleeping in their conference room so they could just wake up and work before the deadlines and some even had marriages break down due to the stress. Like seriously, what film or television series has anything close to that level of dedication from its team??
For me, the best deleted scene from the extended editions is Faramir's flashback to Osgiliath. It's awesome seeing Gondor have a win, heroic Boromir, the loving fraternity between the sons of Denethor, the deeper context of their difficult relationships with him as well as the context of Boromir's mission and being sent by Denethor somewhat against his will. It's not quite how it goes down in the books, but awesome regardless
The thing is, The Witch King is no where even near on being on equal ground with Gandalf. Not even remotely close. Gandalf is literally a God. Gandalf the Grey could've fought off the Witch King. In fact, he already did on Weathertop. The Witch King was not even a match for Aragon when they fought on Weathertop.

As I said many times, the soundtrack in the trilogy is a masterpiece. Just perfect. As soon as Boromir speaks of his father and Gondor, the theme of the White Tree of Gondor starts playing.
7:45 wow, I had never realized they actually made that scene from the books! Its time for me to finally watch all the extended scenes, I think.
Yes they did but it is not exactly equal to the books because in the books they are not dressed like orcs, or at least not entirely.
oh man invest in them (they must be quite cheap now) as a present to yourself.
Liv Tyler has such a gorgeous singing voice. The song she sings in the Houses of Healing is so beautiful
Witch king: Breaks Gandalf’s staff and makes him vulnerable
*hears horn of Rohirrim* “Ight imma head out”
That scene should be gone from the movie altogether. Gandalf killed the balrog in his grey form, then broke Saruman's staff with his voice, he would have whooped the witch king's ass no question.
@@JiminyClarkson yeah like wtf
this scene is false anyways, never happened in the book.
#1 is easily Saruman's death.
I'd argue that the Witch King breaking Gandalf's staff tops it. That feels to me like the most hopeless point in the trilogy. Saruman's death would me my second though.
Phillip Lewis Sauron, not Saruman.
@@Bart-dg6qv What do you mean? We're talking about extended cut scenes, which would include Saruman's (not Sauron's) death.
Phillip Lewis Sorry, my mistake about that Sarumans death scene. I thought you were referring to that Gandalf vs Nazgul scene.
@@Bart-dg6qv I was...I was saying that was the best scene that's in the extended cut but not the standard edition. Saruman's death would be second on my list.
my favorite extended scene has to be the "the king has got a crown again". it's simple yet extremely beautiful.
Poor Boromir, the test he was under was beyond cruel.
Boromir in Osgiliath is a favorite of mine.
5:03 I always wanted to brush that guys teeth to see how much of a difference it would be xD
Eeeyup.
one does not simply brush ones teeth in mordor..
😂 😂 😂 I said the same but I think that is his Saliva you know? Like his teeth are clean, but his salive is like he ate shit 😂 😂
@@maxmalten7749 😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad someone else recognized the true hilarity of the extended scene of #1: "Come on YA SLUGS!!!" *whip whip whip whip whip whip whip whip*
To this day, Sam still carries his damn skillets. Even in enemy territory
Well I mean yeah, how else is he supposed to boil his POTATOES???
The music during the houses of healing scene always makes me weep.
"and he did gandalf, he did" omg the almost tears and head down in shame that Gandalf did really delivers the scene twice as hard. for all he knew the mouth of sauron was saying the truth.
I love how this scene humanizes Boromir. I wish he would have made it to the end.
"who could have thought that someone so small could endure so much pain" love that line
Good list but I personally would have included the Saruman death scene and Boromir's Osgiliath speech. I really didn't like how easily Gandalf the White was beaten by the Witch-King in that RotK scene. Nothing like what happened in the book at all.
NicolWilliamsonFan Me neither. It sort of makes me wonder why he came back as Gandalf the White
Exactly, Gandalf as a unlimited Maia would of course be stronger.
NicolWilliamsonFan if they can get the tone of the new tv series right, it’s gonna be off the hook
Such great acting from Karl Urban (Eomer) with those screams of grief. Love that dude
The power of the ONE RING has kept these movies alive all these years and to eternity. Long live LOTR
The way the hobbit was terrified of the Nasgol voice, adds so much terror to the character
Spent my last 2 days watching clips form one of the best movies ever made Lord of the Rings...the special effects alone are beyond amazing...
@@rbrtlws46 not everyone can read books, they should have done a 6 part series
No you don't have to read the books to understand what's going on. I read the books after watching the movies and I was not lost at all. You're an idiot fuck head. Douche nozzle.
Very few films/shows left me as heartbroken as Boromir's ark, and that was just in the span of one film...
Sean Bean as Boromir was magnificent
Beautiful movies
This is the best film ever made! Period!
Personally, I love the way Aragorn just rides up and calmly slices his head off.
All these scenes were so good. Particularly Aragorn cutting of the mouths head. It really adds to the story.
“Do you not know death when you see it old man? This is my hour.”
That has got to be one of the most badass lines ever!
Anyways, keep doing amazing content!
thank you so much for the amazing support
You know a movie’s good when you’ve got to pick top scenes from deleted scenes
For MOS Frodo was only a spy. He never knew the real danger.
Sam took the ring when they went to Cirith Ungol, Sauron didn’t know he actually had the ring.
The very first piece between boromir and aragorn is a masterpiece, sean and viggo absaloutly nailed it. Mostly sean speaking about minis tirith. Beautifully crafted scene. Thanks for posting this up.
I’ve seen the extended versions so many times that I just re-watched all the normal movies with my friend and you can only watch this with extended scenes it’s missing so much that this makes it like 100 times better it really does
So glad they did the House of Healing scene. so memorable in the book, and how the people of Gondor realise that Aragorn is their king.
#5 is in the theatrical cut my friend.
The first scene is not an extended scene
Witch King breaking Gandalf staff will always be my favourite. Show of power, such a cool scene.
How utterly fantastic in Sean Bean for the role of Boromir? I could not imagine another actor on this earth playing that role the way he did.
nothing haunts my dreams more than the mouth of sauron... that thing is just terrifying
7:20 Shadowfax challenging the fell beast. Nice.
The fell beast is shit anyways, XD. It relies on fear. But yeah, Shadowfax vs Fell Beast, one can't fight, the other can but comedically LMAO.
The scene with Aragorn killing the mouth is amazing display of character
This trilogy is ingrained in my childhood. I had so much fun growing up watching these films with my dad and acting out the battles with my friends and building my own model castles. I will always be thankful to Mr Jackson and Mr Tolkien. I have some wonderful memories. There will never be anything like it for me ever again..
I'm grateful they went as far as they did even though every film was so long and still having more left like this, never wanted it to end.
Eomer screaming gives me chills

I think the most important scene from the extended is the flashback story of Boromir, Faramir, and Denethor in Osgiliath
The mouth of sauron scene is so awesome
5:13 orc or not, their english is impeccable 😂 its like poetry 😂 😂
7:00 I swear... nowdays, on 2019, there are no GCI effects like this, all of them look quite fake when they try to simulate fire / water, or even GCI characters..
Yeah. There are no practical effects anymore
@@epiicgaameer2763 He was talking about cg, not practical effects, but i do miss those too.
The shooting of the picture on film instead of digital cameras result in sort of divine mystical glows from characters
The Nazguls voice is so dark and heavy
As far as I know, nazgul is the flying beast and the one speaking is witch king of angmar
No, nazgul is in black speach, it means ringwraith, and flying beast is flying beast
Nemanja P no that’s a fellbeast. Nazgul is the on riding
“Guess that concludes negotiations.” Lol
No, Gandalf is a Maia, equivalent to a minor angel while the WK is just a wraith.
Why wasn't he allowed to use his full powers

The Mouth of Sauron is my second favourite scene! Although my very favourite is not even mentioned: Galadriel's gifts! How Gimli fell in love with here. Most moving.
The first time I ever watched the theatrical release of LoTR was during the first lockdown in 2020, as it was on Netflix. It's crazy how much these extra scenes, amongst others, made the films even better. I feel sorry - and jealous - for people that haven't watched the Extended versions yet.

This will be a series watched by generations and generations to come, the result of excellent film-making.
There is a clear difference berween deleted and extended edition. Some scene for istance were shot but were not included in the movie at all (deleted scenes). Other scenes such as the ones you uploaded now are extended, they do not appear in the theatrical cut but in the EXTENDED EDITION only
eodred di acquaneve yeah but these scenes r still great
I am the batman well of course they are. Still I am not saying everything in Middle earth is intentionally spreading disinformation but I would suggest him to modify the title, you can do it on RUclips without remiving the video
Sure...but I guess it is more appealling to people if they see "deleted"...🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ but this dickhead should indeed change the title
Technically speaking, if it wasnt in the theatrical version then it is a deleted scene.
Matt K not necessarly, such scenes can either be in the extended edition, thus published/released or just be put apart without being used
