I kind of like the foreshadowing they did here to even if perhaps was unintentional of Galadriel and Elrond both on Gandalf's side of the table while there was Saruman alone on his own side. As if they were foreshadowing events that would soon transpire of Saruman turning from the side of the light like he would.
He was already on his way. Sauron had usurped his mind through the palantir that Saruman had in his possession, using it foolishly as Gandalf mentioned in TFOTR.
This is part of the lore and backstory of the Istari (Wizards) coming to Middle Earth. Curumo (Saruman) was the first, and came willingly. Olórin (Gandalf) came reluctantly. Galadriel had originally pushed for Gandalf to be the leader of the White Council, but Saruman won out. But Saruman was always jealous, given that he was the first and most willing to do the Valar's bidding in Middle Earth. This jealousy is what slowly lead him with the dark path.
4:30 - 5:29 I always got chill with this entire scene and this moment of the sword reveal of the Witch King was awesome. This whole scene was a connection to the Lord of the Rings which is excellent. Thanks for uploading.
When Gandalf hears Saruman's voice, he looks like someone whose boss just came up behind him and he knows he's about to get chewed out over some bullshit. 🤣
I like how they let christopher lee portray saruman as he was before his downfall (though it mightve started already). That little genuine smile he has when he greets gandalf is so good. Seeing the white wizard, the most wisest as a friendly old man just has something else.
Lest it be forgotten but Galadriel (and her hair) were considered so beautiful that The Tolkien world’s greatest Jewelsmith infamously begged her three times for single locks of her hair to immortalize inside one or more of the Silmarils.. He arrogantly approached her and was rebuffed. 😅 Yet swarthy and stocky short king Gimli the Dwarf gets what Feanor couldn’t thru heartfelt respect and genuine admiration (3 locks of Galadriel’s hair to ensnare in a soon to be family heirloom chain necklace, for the Dwarves; The last vestige of the light of the Two Trees which supposedly dwelt in the Elf Lady’s hair) 😂
Of course, WE know that Saruman has his own schemes, but to listen to him presenting an opposing argument instead of saying immediately Dol Goldur should be investigated... It makes you just want to reach out and shake him.
The fact that they should be the ones feeling honored to even stand in front of a mighty Maiar in his lesser form and not a simple grandpa with magic powers.

Can someone expand on Elrond's line, "For 400 years we have had peace"? What is his definition of peace. I can't find a significant moment around 400 years earlier that was a decisive end to conflict.

@@jmwoods190 Except that Sauron was defeated nearly 3000 years ago, not 400. Dol Guldur would become active some 1000 years after Sauron's defeat, and the Watchful Peace ended some 600 years ago prior to the Hobbit.

The four of them are so perfectly cast and so talented it shows in this scene. I think even if you couldn't speak English, you would understand each perspective from the body language and tone. Elrond's warrior posture, Gandalf's wise humility. Galadriel sees straight to the heart of the matter. And Christopher Lee masterfully turning the audience against Saruman by showing what a conniving, cowardly politician he is.
It's not explained in the film but he is intentionally stalling outsting Sauron from his hiding place because Sauron has his minions searching for the ring around the river. Using where they are searching Saurman could narrow down it's possible location before removing Sauron from the area and claiming The One for himself. At this point he is already corrupted.
Saruman represents the voice of knowledge and power. Galadriel embodies silence, patience and authority. Elrond represents hope (Rivendel is considered the safest place in the Middle Earth), he is the main face of the Elves in the world (along with Galadriel, but his legendary name has much more history). Gandalf is known around all places, with many different names, every elf, dwarf, man and hobbit have heard about this wizard (far more than about Saruman), he brings news, happiness, memories (and fireworks). So, they are: POWER, ELDERLY, HOPE and HAPPINESS

I wonder if Lady Galadriel could sense one step ahead? Because she could read Gandalf's thoughts in this scene. I'm guessing maybe she could pry into Saruman as well.
@@skycloud4802 Possibly, although this is a liberty taken by the film, albeit one of the more reasonable ones. For me, this scene does get very close to suggesting the rest of them have their suspicions about Saruman which wouldn't fit very well with TLOTR, because if Gandalf really was that doubtful about Saruman, one suspects he wouldn't have gone to meet him, particularly at Isengard which is Saruman's domain. Arguably this scene falls just short of outright suggesting the suspect Saruman of some kind of plot, and I guess you could argue that even if Gandalf did have doubts at the beginning of TLOTR, he would never have suspected the depths to which Saruman had fallen or indeed the severity of the action he would take against Gandalf. The fight scene at the beginning of the third film, whilst being utter baloney in terms of lore, was quite exciting in terms of its staging and does show Saruman in a different light, still actually opposing Sauron at this stage. Perhaps this goes some way to alleviating any doubts Gandalf, Elrond, or Galadriel might have. I didn't like the b/s of having Gandalf captured though.
@@annanduneThat’s pretentious. These movies are incredibly faithful to the book. The only things these movies really add/change are Legolas, (which I like and makes sense, because would have been in Mirkwood during this time and likely at the Battle of the five Armies even if he wasn’t a character yet in the book. Tauriel, which I like because she’s badass, hot and gives emotional stakes to Kili’s death where there was none in the book. Azog, which I really don’t mind because he did kill Thror in the book and is the father of Bolg who WAS in the book. And a few minor other things too that made for a more satisfying film experience. They aren’t perfect, but it’s a fucking great trilogy. They just unfortunately had to live up to the greatest trilogy of all time, which nothing could and possibly ever will.
It should be noted that in the books, by this time The White Council had come to the conclusion that The Necromancer and Sauron were one and the same, but prior to this, both Galadriel and Elrond sided with Gandalf (both that The Necromancer was Sauron and that action was necessary). Saruman however disagreed, at first saying The Necromancer was a human and later a Nazgul, and later stating that action wasn't necessary despite it being Sauron. When the vote came up however, the majority always sided with Saruman, and the other members of the White Council were Radagast and Cirdan, as well as other elf lords such as Glorfindel and Celeborn being other likely members.
This scene is so great, but sadly if you know the BTS footage, the filming wasn't so great for the Actors. Ian McKellen even cryed because he sat in a Room full of Greenscreen and had to imagine them, being there.
Totally agree! That the original trilogy was slighly better doesnt make the hobbit trilogy bad. Both of Peter Jacksons trilogies were masterpieces, because these films were faithful to Tolkiens books. The ring of power sucks.
@@gearben7553 Yes it is overall, but remember it was originally a children's novel, then later retconned and expanded to make it more compatible in tone and continuity with LOTR. Yep lol. But more like he was the only one actually searching and watching for evidence of evils return. Saruman knew it was real and you can see hints that he’s not the pure wizard he’s supposed to be. Galadriel knew he was hiding his true intentions by speaking to Gandalf through her mind. Saruman was downplaying the whole thing because he himself wanted the ring of power so if he stops them from investigating further he has no one else to contend with but Sauron who isn’t what he is in lotr yet.
Not quite. Gandalf and Saruman’s presence means that Sauron hasn’t been defeated for good.
@@bulldogsbob They knew that Sauron could never truly be equingiushed but Sarumon was certain the ring was lost at sea never to be recovered and his spirit lingers lost near the misty mountains.
@@Beardshire Saruman didn't think the ring was lost at all, he just said that in order to deceive the others. He was still searching for the ring the entire time hoping to claim it for himself and become the next Dark Lord.
@@willw1991 Gonna need some receipts on that because Sarumon fought against Sauron and took provisions against his return. While he did put plans into place early on into Saurons return before this. his vetoing the white council has always been a guess as to his true intentions. i will agree he did but who is to say Gandalf had made some blunders in the past and Sarumons comments held, so you could say it's just as much Gandalfs fault for crying wolf as much as he did
The impact of Christopher Lee's voice is unparalleled
I simply pity poor old Elrond. His mother in law never dies AND she can hear your thoughts. I'd also spend 3000 years at war in Mordor if I was him.
lol
Yea, but she doesn't live with him. So no problems there.
She can't unless he wants, that power all the bearers have
@sonofcy wheew!
When Ian McKellen joins Christopher Lee in the afterlife, we can take comfort that both will be keeping watch on Sauron's spirit...
Gandalf is such a gentleman to lady Galadriel. I didn’t understand what he said to her in elvish but from her smile it’s almost like he was telling her we meet again my lady,… aren’t you as lovely as ever❤
For some reason there’s no subtitles in this video but in the theatrical release of the film Gandalf says to her “Time may have changed me, but not so the lady of Lórien.”
@@scottspangler6363 yeah sounds right to me.
"Let him speak"
Even Saruman obeyed that
This is one of the few added scenes that I liked- it adds a bit of connection

Gandalf: “Galadriel just told us it did. Are you deaf?”

Yeah, he's amazing in these movies.
The music to Galadriel's entrance 🔥🔥
It's heavenly my lady!
Possibly, but Christopher Lee shot his part in England while the other three were in New Zealand
He already had. He was searching for the ring in secret, and it's said he more saw Sauron as a rival than an enemy at this point.
Thank you very much ❤
When Gandalf hears Saruman's voice, he looks like someone whose boss just came up behind him and he knows he's about to get chewed out over some bullshit. 🤣
I like Galadriel’s side eye/unconvinced look towards Saruman at 5:42. 😂
Saruman you had one job, ONE JOB!
And you betrayed us!! 😂😂
I like how they let christopher lee portray saruman as he was before his downfall (though it mightve started already). That little genuine smile he has when he greets gandalf is so good. Seeing the white wizard, the most wisest as a friendly old man just has something else.
Now THAT’s proper casting for Galadriel.
All the elves in rings of power looks awful 😂
Lets examine what we KNOW
proceeds to repeat an assumption
IKR? I was thinking "we KNOW that the Necromancer is just a human sorcerer?"
0:56 Sir Ian McKellen was napping when this scenes started.
Ian McKellen has the uncanny ability to be able to nap anywhere at any time. I am so jealous.
A wizard can nap precisely when he means to
They actually used the scene where he was napping? I thought maybe they reshot it.
That’s so funny, and a bit strange.
A Wizard is never tired, Nor is he awake he naps Precisley when he means to
What to do? When your boss is this ignorant.. 😅
The three elven rings under the same roof!
Only Saruman doesn't have one, that's why the bitch sabotage the whole thing
Saruman " it's not that it's his(Radagast) excessive consumption of mushrooms" 😂😂😂
I like the look on Elrond’s face when Gandalf is complementing Galadriel in elvish. Like “ you old smoothy “
The whole Tolkien universe is like a drug to me, just can't get enough.
Galadriel: You knewww....
Gandalf: :3
Lest it be forgotten but Galadriel (and her hair) were considered so beautiful that The Tolkien world’s greatest Jewelsmith infamously begged her three times for single locks of her hair to immortalize inside one or more of the Silmarils.. He arrogantly approached her and was rebuffed. 😅
Yet swarthy and stocky short king Gimli the Dwarf gets what Feanor couldn’t thru heartfelt respect and genuine admiration (3 locks of Galadriel’s hair to ensnare in a soon to be family heirloom chain necklace, for the Dwarves; The last vestige of the light of the Two Trees which supposedly dwelt in the Elf Lady’s hair) 😂
Of course, WE know that Saruman has his own schemes, but to listen to him presenting an opposing argument instead of saying immediately Dol Goldur should be investigated... It makes you just want to reach out and shake him.
Saruman: He didn’t, I did.
Gandalf: 😖 , turns around, 😀 hey man, how’s it goin? Good to see you, you look well.
The fact that they should be the ones feeling honored to even stand in front of a mighty Maiar in his lesser form and not a simple grandpa with magic powers.
Gandalf and Saruman are both Maiar. Galadriel is no joke and a powerhouse in her own right. It's Elrond that is in mightier company.

in Saruman next life, he 'll be running a nuclear plant in Chernobyl....
Notice At 0:43 the little music( Isengard theme) hints Saurman’s betrayal is going to happen very soon.
It’s hard to believe that Christopher Lee was like 89 or 90 when this movie came out.
There was a strange dynamic between Galadriel and Gandalf, they both respected the other more than themselves and valued the other more than themselves.
By the Inore, she's beautiful
Saruman: the war is over. We won.
Then why are you still in Middle Earth?
In fact the Wizards were not in Middle Earth when Sauron was defeated in the Second Age. They came later.
Can someone expand on Elrond's line, "For 400 years we have had peace"? What is his definition of peace. I can't find a significant moment around 400 years earlier that was a decisive end to conflict.
Also Elrond was well aware of what Isildur did with the Ring after that the Last Alliance of Elves & Men. Perhaps after the Ring escaped Isildur everyone assumed it was lost(unaware of Gollum), and with Sauron yet to return even Elrond became complacent.
@@jmwoods190 Except that Sauron was defeated nearly 3000 years ago, not 400. Dol Guldur would become active some 1000 years after Sauron's defeat, and the Watchful Peace ended some 600 years ago prior to the Hobbit.
@@LordMortanius Is 400 years before when Angmar fell?

Gandalf was patient and respectful to the elves. They are old but he literally participated in the song of creation. He’s a gentleman about it.
The Hobbit films really weaken Gandalf. In the books and original films Gandalf has an authoritative presence at all times and is a lesser divine being. Here he's almost groveling to Galadriel.

Fun fact : this scene was filmed in two different locations... Gandalf scenes were filmed in New Zealand and Saruman scenes were filmed in London because Christopher Lee was too sick to travel to New Zealand.
This is better than the first two seasons of Rings of Power.
Absolute perfect casting all four of them. I love Gandalf's innocent-guilty face at the end
Great actors and actress. They make all the difference.

Masterful acting in this scene alone makes hobbit worth watching.
Do not speak to me of Radaghast
He is, yes odd, but birds speak highly of him
oddly the creation of orc is way more disgusting
@5:40 BOMBASTIC SIDE EYE!!! Cate Blanchett’s facial acting is so amazing here. She goes from a caring and empathic look towards Gandalf, to a frustrated and distrusting one towards Saruman, all within seconds.
When Angmar fell The Witch King left for Minas Morgul
He never fell nor was he buried
The four of them are so perfectly cast and so talented it shows in this scene. I think even if you couldn't speak English, you would understand each perspective from the body language and tone. Elrond's warrior posture, Gandalf's wise humility. Galadriel sees straight to the heart of the matter. And Christopher Lee masterfully turning the audience against Saruman by showing what a conniving, cowardly politician he is.
More than a hobbit, braver than a man, stronger than a fallen, powerful, not so cunning elf.
"It´s not that. it´s his excessive comsumption of mushrooms. " It´s such a funny line in the gran scemes of these movies.
Poor Saruman is seriously underestimating these dark signs and Sauron himself. That's his folly which will lead to his corruption.
More probably hidding them because he is looking for the ring himself.
Saruman reminds me of the MSM trying to deny election fraud, or anything the Dems do that is a crime.
@@DaciValtyour mom was already corrupted
Saruman represents the voice of knowledge and power. Galadriel embodies silence, patience and authority. Elrond represents hope (Rivendel is considered the safest place in the Middle Earth), he is the main face of the Elves in the world (along with Galadriel, but his legendary name has much more history). Gandalf is known around all places, with many different names, every elf, dwarf, man and hobbit have heard about this wizard (far more than about Saruman), he brings news, happiness, memories (and fireworks). So, they are: POWER, ELDERLY, HOPE and HAPPINESS
Even the Hobbit trilogy shines brightly after each passing year ❤❤❤.
I agree. It's much better than I remember!
The Extended version Is Epic
Gandalf's head tilt and eyes when Galadriel says "You knew".
With the expressive faces the dialogue is as follows:

Ah, the one and only Galadriel
Sir Christopher Lee : tell us what the Woodsmen say
Delivered in such a powerful manner the line clearly defines the character of Saruman of Many Colors
I love this shit.
Necromancer? The return of Sauron? Sounds like a conspiracy theory!
Saurmon was already corrupted by this point. His refusal is noted
No he wasn’t. His personality was always like this and always had an underlying jealousy of Gandalf
@@Danrisby He was quite possibly well on the road though. He had his own spies hunting for the ring in and around the Anduin and prying eyes at Dol Guldor might uncover this. His reasons for not investigating the reports of the necromancer were self-serving and not for the good of all.
See I really don't mind the new Galadriel in RoP, but man this was THE PERFECT Galadriel and will always be in my heart.. ehm I mean mind

"Frodo~ don't wear the ring~ !" 🎵
The way Galadriel circles the room gracefully is so Gangsta!!!
I am so thankful Christopher Lee was able to return to the role.
This scene is so great, but sadly if you know the BTS footage, the filming wasn't so great for the Actors. Ian McKellen even cryed because he sat in a Room full of Greenscreen and had to imagine them, being there.

The hobbit wasn't that bad its way better thean the rings of power
Totally agree! That the original trilogy was slighly better doesnt make the hobbit trilogy bad. Both of Peter Jacksons trilogies were masterpieces, because these films were faithful to Tolkiens books. The ring of power sucks.
Lmao The Hobbit is faithful to the source material?
@@gearben7553 Yes it is overall, but remember it was originally a children's novel, then later retconned and expanded to make it more compatible in tone and continuity with LOTR. Some appendix material and other tales of Middle Earth were woven into the Hobbit movies to fill out narrative elements in the prequel trilogy.
Compare to The Rings of Power? Oh yeah...
I don’t even consider ROP in relation to the Jackson trilogies.

Can we quickly recognize that Sir Christopher Lee was 90 when this film came out. Never retired officially, saw the Second World War. Gone but never forgotten 🫡
He surely soldiered on until the very end.
@@DementedCaver Another fun fact came out on their behind the scenes. He was too old to fly out to New Zealand at the time for this scene, so apparently, Peter Jackson was able to get a small workspace in London for him, and they shot his entire scene and dialogue on green screen, and then sent it to them, where they weaved it into the scene. Really cool stuff.
FYI: at this point Saruman is already trying to find the ring for himself. This is why he is being so obstructionist.
