- In this video I use my Tampon 70-300 SP VC USD lens to shoot some woodland photography, and a pretty fine job it did. I've been using this lens now for some time instead of my Canon 70-200 IS L lens, which I've actually now sold. Watch the video and let me know what you think of the image quality from this lens.

does this lens work on the canon EF or EFS mount ? i have a small M6 Mark 2 with a lens convertor i have the canon 300mm and 50 mm STM lens...i want a 300mm that is sharper...will this do ?
Stricking images Dave. Something different using a longer lens. I did that some weeks ago. I enjoy focusing on distant objects. Thank you for sharing and take care.

Owning the Mark ii and this lens, it is great to see what it is capable of. Even its close up capability is awesome. I couldn't choose between the two images. They both appealed to me, but the cropping ability using a long lens I would imagine, makes you think a bit more about the shot you are taking ?. It is too easy to just crop an image in photoshop. I loved the moment where you took the lens cap off and as if by magic it was back on. It made me smile because you never mentioned it. The video and narration were out of sync in the last image taken, but again that shows how easy it is to see that it happens every so often. I can imagine editing is very time consuming when creating a video. Incidentally seeing James asking you about the new tripod set-up. I was looking on Amazon and the PB40 is not available, nor the MB44. Only the MB52 is available on Amazon stock wise and down to 14 left for sale. I don't know if this is down to Brexit or Covid for supply. You certainly look more comfortable stood behind it. It is much better scaled to your height. 😊
Antony Halls thank you so much for watching. Yes the camera/lens combo is very good. I find that getting the comp right in the field makes for a better image in the end. Yes I didn’t notice the out of sync audio until it was too late 😂 I love the tripod, it’s the perfect height for me

Another enjoyable and informative video. Of the two you asked us to compare, I prefer the one using the shorter lens. However, I think you are absolutely right to emphasise experimenting with a long lens - it changes the whole process of composition, sometimes with surprisingly good results. You often give us a clue about where you are shooting on your videos. I find that helpful because, living in the area, I can try my hand at your ideas. You also visit some beautiful locations.

Sam thank you for watching. Thanks for the feedback on the image. This location is between Wotter and Ivybridge. It’s beautiful. I have one more video scheduled for release that was recorded before Christmas. After that I’m not sure when my next one will be. We’re in lockdown and at the moment the police seem dizzy with excitement at handing out fines for the most petty (and I’m sure unlawful) reasons. I’ve heard of people being fined for carrying a drink with them. It’s crazy.

I think of all the images, my favourite is the one of the old mouldy branches lying on the ground tbh Dave. The chaotic nature of the others I find less appealing but for that reason I would prefer the tighter shot.
If I may ask… what tripod do you use?

James Cason it’s great thank you. I have a couple more videos to come out that were recorded before Christmas. I haven’t been able to get out since then, and I won’t be for the foreseeable future obviously. But it’s great, couldn’t be more pleased with it

Yes I’m sure it does. I have 3 5D’s (a classic, a mkii and a mkiii) and it suites them all.
