Finally I've found pepole I can relate to about talking to fast. I've always talked to fast and slurred my words I'm tired of hearing "what?" "Huh?" "Say it again?" . ITS SOOO embarrassing! What finally made me do something was today when I finally got up the courage to talk to my crush, it was so awkward so I just blurted out "I love elephants" he thought I said I am a elephant. It was cringy weird and embarrassing. Thanks for the tip Ill definatly use it tomorrow.
Update: nothing ever happened with me and that boy he ended getting a girlfriend. But I'm starting to talk more clearly now and its definitely brought up my confidence. I'm happy I found pepole just like me. One huge tip I have is to not give a shit what other people think about you just go with it and whatever happens happens.

That also reduces the presere of the speraking in front of audience - those are just some kids , you know ;)

This is absolutely phenomenal! I do door knocking for living and sales for living going on 10+ years now. I am told constantly, "sloooow down, why do you talk so fast?" I then think to myself, "I guess I do, I didn't mean to." Then I become to aware and start to feel really bad about myself so much so I feel I have no control or technique, that I start just saying, "I guess this is my life now." My own relationships with friends, partners, and family have been disrupted or hurt because I become annoying with how fast and how much I have to say. This is starting to really teach me to slow down my thoughts and word count in my speech, that I think I will come off as a much more effective and clearer speaker. Thank you for the insight! 🙂

Great video! I agree with the video that slowing down speech could help outgrow stuttering. The positive effect is that speaking slower makes you feel more comfortable, whereas other people who speak slower have more time to double down on doubt to say a feared letter which means that 'confidence that you can move articulators during a speech block' helps in outgrowing stuttering

I think of thee! - my thoughts do twine and bud
About thee, as wild vines, about a tree,
Put out broad leaves, and soon there's nought to see
Except the struggling green which hides the wood.
Yet. O my palm-tree, be it understood
I will not have my thoughts instead of thee
Who art dearer, better! Rather, instantly
Renew thy presence; as a strong tree should,
Rustle thy boughs and set thy trunk all bare,
And let these bands of greenery, which insphere thee
Drop heavily down, - burst, shattered, everywhere!
Because, in this deep joy to see and hear thee
And breathe within thy shadow a new air, I do not think of thee - I am too near thee.

Great advice. I got an idea on how to solve this issue... Reading Out Loud articulating the words - also breathing is important and recording yourself. I will try and if you guys want I'll let you know what's happening

I’m here because I want to advance and become more of a leader at the restaurant I work at. I’ve worked there for three years but I never made any effort to try to become a leader because my communication is so bad. And I also would like to improve general communication

You deserve a subscribe and like! Thanks for introducing the typing technique as a way to slow down my speaking speed. I've been attempting several ways to speak clearly and slowly, but no methods seem to work in my case. I'll try your method tomorrow with a big hope to reduce stuttering, pauses, and hesitation during my speech.

I’m a very passionate person. When I speak it gets real ugly lol. I barely finish the word I’m on to get to the next one. I know it stems from me having the feeling of not being heard. People can be rude and impatient. I think it’s important for us in the fast talking community to have clearance to have the floor to speak. If people interrupt, we ask for a second to finish. And when we feel like a conversation I’d about to happen l, remember to breathe and speak clearly . Good luck everyone.

That’s great advice, Versatile Mind! One more thing to try is slowing down and centering ourselves. That way we can be more present with
our thoughts, words and feelings. And we lessen the chances of overwhelming our listener. Let me know your thoughts!

I speak fast because I have alot to say and do not want to forget, nor do I want to be cut off soI feel the need to hurry up. In doing that, I often stutter or stumble. Really embarrassing, but it's funny because I still love talking

Good stuff, @Genelle Corum - you should love talking - it’s a gift we don’t think about too often. But what an amazing gift it is. And to embrace it with all its quirks and possibilities is the key to ENJOYING it!
