  • How to replace a Cabin Air Filter on a 2000-2005 Monte Carlo and Impala, 1997-2003 Grand Prix and Buick Regal. It is important to replace this part at regular intervals. I recommend at least twice a year before winter and before summer.

Thanks, my grandfather's 2001 monte carlo ss had been sitting outside for the past 7 years and I am starting to get it working again, the instructions on the filter box sucked. So I would not have been able to do it without this video

After having a rat make a nest in my Grand Prix's blower fan, I decided I really should replace what was probably going to be a severely damaged cabin air-filter. Thats when I strayed across this video.
First off, thanks so much for having this video up here. The procedure you showed was straight forward and never moved off subject. Considering that after I got the molding off and everything moved out of the way; I discovered that there was literally no existing filter (damaged or not). So I certainly appreciated the warnings about how to get the filter into the slot too.
    Nicely done!

+Skie Strife I've bought a bunch of these cars and most haven't had a filter in them. Glad this helped you out

Thank you very much for an excellent video. My 2000 Monte Carlo, made in Canada is a gem but the blower fan started vibrating.
After seeing how to change the cabin filter I took it apart and discovered no filter, just a mouse nest in the blower. All good now!

nice video , i can now see why a blower motor in these models was prone to shorting out. From water getting in through the cabin air filter. I didn't open this on the car i was fixing because a great mechanic already did some fixing of a problem with a blower motor long ago in a montel carlo version . Though i did peek under the glove compartment at the blower motor to see about the blend door but realized it was going to be a pain so started diagnosing stuff at the fuse box , compressor clutch , and ODB scan. From this video i see the other side of what it looks like in the air cabin filter.

Yeah not the best design that's for sure. They did make some updates with water deflectors on the later Model Grand Prixs and that does help. The 97-98 models were bad
