When I was a kid I thought Gerrard was just ok.
Then I watched him at White Hart Lane and everyone in the ground applauded him..

He played centre half centre Mid then up Front. Gullit must of done the same for AC Milan ,but I'd be guessing.
In this country Gerrard was all rounder and best at almost everything

The best way to describe stevie was that he was all your favourite midfielders rolled into one. He was world class at every single attribute on a football pitch with an insane physical ability. He was also elite in about 8 positions on the football pitch. He was the most clutch player in the league plus he’s the only player on earth to ever score in every cup final available. All your goat managers wanted him whilst your “goat” midfielders were already in the team as well by the way. No one comes close, sorry.
No one ever mentions how fast he was either. He didnt have the best acceleration but once he hit full stride he was very quick. I remember matches seeing him outpace Andy Johnson, Freddie Ljundberg, even Gabby Agbonlahor one match when Gabby came on as a sub and Gerrard had played the entire match, one sprint from halfway to goaline and he beat Gabby no problem.
You see now why we say he's overrated 😂😂😂🤦🤦.. If he was that good then he would have been above Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Seerdorf..only Premier League fans specifically Liverpool fans rate him, general fans don't cause he simply wasn't that good.

Stevie G was the most complete player.
I watched him play left back, Central Defence, Right back, across the middle, up front and he owned every position. He could pass a ball sweetly from 5 to 65 yards. Score with both feet and his head and tackle. Scholes and Lampard couldn't do what he did. In fact, I'd like anyone to name one player who could play any position and play it well and do what I've just stated Stevie G to do.
It tells you something when Zidane rated Stevie better than himself.
World class is banded about too easily to players who are not. Stevie G was world class!
@@kygodragon4782 Ronaldinho couldn't play any position. He couldn't tackle. He couldn't do what Gerrard did. Like I stated already about Gerrard, I don't know of any player that could play in every outfield position and play like it was there natural position.
I'm not talking about nutmegging. Ive seen mediocre players nutmegging world class players.
I'm not denying Ronaldinho was a awesome footballer. His trickery was sublime. What he could do with a ball at feet was technically superior to Gerrard and technically Gerrard wasn't the best. But, it's the overall package that Stevie G had.
And, I've heard he was pretty decent in goal too!

Best all round player I’ve ever seen. There’s a reason why Ferguson, Mourinho and Madrid tried to sign him on multiple occasions. He was almost a victim of how good his overall game was imo. He could play any outfield position and be the best player on the pitch, and he played in what was mostly an average Liverpool team so he maybe didn’t quite get the goal numbers he could’ve done in a different environment. He didn’t really have a weakness in his game though, and that was what made him almost uniquely great.

Djorkaeff was an unbelievable player.
Gerrard wasn't as technical on the eye as great players like Zidane, Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta. But as an all round footballer he was world class.
He definitely was technical. I don't remember Iniesta or Xavi striking the ball as cleanly as Gerrard did. Unfortunately, because Liverpool at the time were an average team, it brings down his value to most football watchers. Imagine if Xavi, or Iniesta, or even Messi played for Valencia their entire careers. Do you think people would be singing their praises? Definitely not as much.

Gerrard to me, stands out as the best midfielder i've seen in the past 20 years. Growing up as a massive villa fan... I used to fear him on the opposing liverpool team, he would dominate games on his own & used to destroy us, I used to just think "wow"
Gerrard was on another level. There's a reason that all the PL midfielders called him the best. They talk about watching other players win games and they talk about others that they went to war with. Gerrard was both. He'd be in your face all game when you had the ball and you'd be watching him doing magic when he had it.
Remember Big Sam at Bolton used to get Muamba to mark Stevie and literally move everywhere Gerrard went. We drew 0-0 there and Gerrard never got a kick. Thats how much respect managers had for Stevie. One of the best.

No. He's the greatest all round midfielder ever. No player has ever been as good in all disciplines of the position. Strong, fast, good tackler, good header, great passer, goalscorer and made those around him better.
