I got eight pieces of technical data before triggering the event Defiance has fallen. That was in the last two weeks though. Maybe they have changed things. Absolutely sure of this.
Another note: if there's no Technical Data in the container don't take whatever's in it out. That way you can get a chance for Technical Data to spawn.
I use Technical Data as an XP bank. Once I hit level 100 on the choreboard, any TD I find just goes into the stash box until the beginning of a new season. I've had great luck with finding it at Mononga Power.
I do hope Bethesda eventually patch it so you can get multiple rewards for handing in multiple technical data. I don't have the patience to give in that many files individually. Oh, and I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the BoS paint I got for my T-51b power armour was also a drop for this mission.
It isn’t a glitch or bug or anything. The more you turn in the better the rewards, I do wish they gave us a choice to turn in one or all without having to go back and forth

Ooooh that's what those things do. I've been getting them just wandering around and had no idea what they were for. Super useful video. Guess I'll go help the brotherhood now.
I have found that regardless of location if it has round filing cabinets, you can get tech data from it. I generally get most of mine in west tech. up and down the elevator killing everything that moves, before I finish I generally have one from each cabinet so...14 a day I think just in west tech. I did 100+ last time there was double xp and wound up getting 3 of the shielded plans and I think 4 of the first power armor skins, (I am building them up to sell a few now and then)
I remember doing this run a lot, I would get 50-60 per run and I would turn in one at a time, apparently since this mission counts as a side quest, the drop chances for rarer items can be affected by Charisma, according to the Fallout 76 Help Section, everytime I boost my Charisma to 40+ UNY and food buffs I would get a minimum of three T60 paints and 3 or 4 Shielded Lining plans
I know this is off track but good stuff hitting 5000 last week i played but had to work and not grind like you i remember u was 45 something you are officalilly a fallout 76 GOAT. Thats no cap.
I do a lot of nukes so I find a ton of them on a daily basis and I usually just deposit them all at once because I'm too lazy to bother for the paints I won't even use because I'm an x01 user But it's definitely a good way of making a bit of XP and probably some caps on the side from all the plans
I think the white springs bunker is the best place to farm them. It’s usually good for 3-4 data’s per trip but you can occasionally get upwards of 5-7.. the bunker also has the added benefit of being able to farm epr’s for flamer mods or to try and find an epr with the aligned automatic barrel (DO NOT PUT A FLAMER MOD ON IT). Any EPR with a reflex sight has good value, but if it has the reflex sight plus the aligned automatic barrel, then that weapon has great value on its own and trades like a Fixer with the appropriate rolls.
Good to know! But I'll add: The Enclave Plasma Rifle is sold by one of the four MODUS terminals called the production terminal, not sure which one that is. Had to look that up. Posting here for anyone else a little confused. I'll check when I go there, but I'll probably forget to update this comment with what I find.

me and homies used to farm tech data back in 2019 through to 2020, we used to have a complete route from sugar grove all the way down to watoga and then jump server. ive turned in probably well over 1k tech data throughout my 2.5k hours in game. still turn it in today even though theres no possibility for the pa paints anymore, just ammo and outfits.. good times
There used to be an issue with this and it was recommended to turn in the data at Fort Atlas due to the rewards being correct from Valdez, I don't know if that's still the case though.
Just take all the data out, drop it at the scribe and pick them up 1 at a time. That way you don't need to run to the stash box. Assuming technical data can be dropped
We used to be able to do that but they changed it, so now technical data can’t be dropped. That’s why it’s best to turn them in at fort atlas because there is a stash box there.
It kinda sucks that I didn't know about the the thing where they remove all of it for the same kind of award when you deliver them, I collected like 200 of them before I even knew what to do with them and then I delivered all of them at once and got like a bomber jacket for it...
you can also get it when doing the Harper’s ferry dropped connection in the buildings closest to the resource drop but i don’t think the chance is that high
Question.. do you have to finish the BOS quest line to get the power armor paints? Because I haven’t finished that and I have turned in 200+ data’s and I don’t think I have gotten a single plan. I also know that you can turn in up to two at a time and get rewards for it.. but is it better to turn them in one at a time?
Now, if Todd Coward would allow us to drop all the technical data at once rather than 1 at a time for maximum rewards. Also, screw grinding for data. I prefer to auto unlock safes wherever I am at the time.
