Thank you for posting this! I'm definitely going to check it out... after I fast forward to your Pneuma reaction. :-)
Read my mind.
Another Tool Fan Born....
Go deeper dude. Tool is a journey.

Any other Tool Army member binge watching new Tool fans being born?
Favourite pastime bro. Brings me a lot of joy. It’s a phenomenon, truly
It's become a way for me to decompress after a tough day
Ive attended many baptisms yes
Me :D
Metal has no armies, where did you all come from? k-pop?
I don’t think I’ll ever tire of watching people react to hearing The Pot for the first time. It makes me feel like it’s the first time I’m hearing it, too!
Reaction videos as a whole are my favorite thing to come from youtube lol makes the one thing I love more than anything else, music, that much better.
💯💯💯💯💯
Yeesssssss!! I was struggling to put into words why i enjoy these reactions so much but you did it for me! Thank you so much :)
Exactly the same for me 😂 I love this band, and, in a certain point of view, "Pneuma" saved my life....
It's always like "let's check out this...WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS AMAZING WHAT!!!"
I feel Justin (the bassist) doesn't get enough credit in TooL. He's incredible.
Justin is one of the best. Paul was replaceable but Justin is not.
That's just the reality of "the bass player". Haha. He's unreal. And humble...sooo...
He is the Supreme Chancellor of Tool.
@@skuripandaburns3489 nice pun 👌
I would like to be reincarnated as any member of Tool!
"I never heard that pattern before" says every new Tool listener.
A new Tool fan is born! Enjoy the ride my friend! Spiral out! 🌀
Welcome down the rabbit hole honey...Take your time and enjoy every beat and every lyric. He says so much in his songs.
This is so much fun watching new fans discover. Dude this was my first time watching your channel. Subscribed. I’m a fan.
That’s a reference to the song!
Legend has it, every time a tool fan is born an angel gets its wings
Technically, they are considered progressive metal, but I think I agree with you there very hard to categorize, but they are the best metal band on the planet right now!
TOOL is basically a band made up entirely of a rhythm section. There really are no proper leads. Every member has a job. Every member is showcased at some point and leans back at others. They blend better than any band I know. Very primal, very spiritual and very cross cultural. They borrow inspiration from areas most wouldn't consider. But they get into your spine and never leave it. Very special band.
Danny Carrey's drums are the lead.
Well said well said.
not to mention, the vocalist sees himself not as the lead singer, but as another instrument. Brilliant musice since the very beginning.
@@skytale35spot on. I came here to say this. It's so very true - Maynard is a humanitarian soul who intentionally steps away from any spotlight in order to boost those around him. There's so much that could be learned from such example🤙🏻
Couldn't have said it better.
Dude was grinning from ear to ear and I'm living for it. I've been a Tool fan since 94 and I'm so glad this is doing it for you. Enjoy, new friend!
Do you have a dope beastie tee? J/K
92 here..
Oh, you're OGT??
I worked in a record store in the 90's. I remember Tool's first release Undertow coming out. That CD blew everything else away. They do not disappoint.
Their first release was Opiate. I, too, worked in a record store in the 90s when Undertow came out...
@@frostymugger95 you're absolutely correct! I always forget about Opiate, although I really like it. (And its in my collection) Thanks for reminding me 😍
Still doin it too!
They didn’t achieve their final form until Aenima. Everything before that was just putting the pieces together.
Look up the live drum-cam version of "Pneuma" and be amazed at what this drummer is capable of. The other three members of Tool are amazing musicians in their own right, but Danny Carey is something else entirely.
YES!!
Yep.
Do it!
meh
No. No. No. Do not watch the live version first. You need to know the studio version before watching the live version.
“Mixing the Blues with the Highlander Intro” - Perhaps the most amazing description I’ve heard of Tool’s sound!
LOL!! DONT ASK WHY THE HIGHLANDER INTRO CAME UP
That is a spot on , clever description!
@@MugnifyRTS The human brain is amazing. It's always trying to detect patterns and groupings (probably why people are obsessed with race). If you are hearing the highlander intro, your brain found a pattern between one thing deep in your brain and Tool. It's pretty cool to think there's information in our brains so deeply tucked away we don't even know it's there.
It was a good call, for sure.
Right!? :)
The thing about Tools music, is that it is so unique and well thought out. The songs never get old. I jam the same way to Tool as I did at 16 years old. By far, it's my favorite band of all time.
Blues with Highlander is the best description of Tool I’ve ever heard.
The fact that you could recognize so quickly that they are in a category all of their own, is super impressive mad props you bro Love your reaction.
Couldnt have said it better.
It's Math Rock lmao
I love how he is just laughing in delight at how badass this song is.
@@kylestyle2202 “math rock” way to simplify it.
Watching someone hear/experience Tool for the first time is one of the best things ever.
Totally agreed!!!!!
Every member of this band are musical geniuses. All music breaks down the math, and these fellas are "math nerds" of hard rock! I always enjoy watching a new Tool fan be born! Much love, brother!
Dude. The joy your reaction just brought me was off the charts. Long time tool fan, but this makes me appreciate this song so much more
I felt the same way! Also a Tool fan since 93.
"This is in a category by itself". Perfect summation of Tool. You will be experiencing this same feeling over and over again as you discover more of their music. They have a great deal of stylistic diversity across their catalog all while sharing recognizable elements unique to Tool. Enjoy the ride!
I’ve heard this song a thousand times and it’s always amazing, but watching someone who never heard it or even Tool before and how excited it’s making you is like hearing it all over again for the 1st time.
Next check out their album Lateralus, specifically Parabol and Parabola. The 1st song bleeds right into the 2nd. Probably to long for a reaction video but worth the listen.
The beauty of react channels
Funny enough, living Vicariously.
🙌
Never gets old
@@Belly_Beane specifically why I love watching Tool reactions. If only I could hear this again for the first time.
Tool is a live concert MUST. They are a MUST, period. Love seeing yet another person discover how amazing they are. No one like them.
Primal progression
is how i describe TOOL
Its art, and it paints a masterpiece of humanity
If you decide to go down the Tool rabbit hole, just know you will not be alone. The Tool Army will join you for the ride. Nothing we love more than watching others discover Tool for the first time.

@@sharileighretsof4790 Reporting for duty!
Here for the ride.
Here 😁
Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.🤪 Welcome to potentially the greatest band that ever was. Next I suggest Aenema or 46 & 2.
The events of aenema are really seeming like a welcome difference for todays world
Parabol/Parabola 😍
Pneuma. The Pot has blown his mind, Pneuma will make him spontaneously combust. 😂
Listen to the whole album, and it will blow you away. This album was life changing when I first heard it. It just struck a chord. I've been a huge fan ever since.
Wings for Marie parts 1 and 2 might be my favorite song(s) ever.
Tool is tool. It’s own genre that shaped many sounds in music since. So awesome to see you discover such a tight band.
Bro - you are THE FIRST PERSON to ever describe what I see in my head when I listen to TOOL. How the sounds layer in, and also where in 3D space the sounds are coming from in the mix. This is my favorite band ever because of this. Ride the spiral 🌀😵💫
this!!!!
When I started drumming I used to think of the car adage; the drums is the engine, the bass is the steering wheel, the guitarist is the paint job and the singer was the fluffy dice hanging off the rear view mirror. 😂
And then I heard of bands like Tool, where everyone is the engine, everyone is the steering wheel, the paintjob and the fluffy dice. But here is the key; to be able to play the right roles at the right times. Bands like Led Zep and Tool are masters of it.
Oh and every song you hear from TOOL you will be saying "I've never heard anything like this "
"Ethnic Drums". Yes! Danny takes most of his influence from African drumming. He's one of the most unique drummers on the planet, imo. So cool that you picked up on that right away.
By far, best reaction video I’ve seen! They gotcha!! Been a TOOL freak for decades! I will never tire of watching someone feel that magic! Let the rabbit hole be dug!!!!
"Lyrically it's the blues" - in an interview when this album came out the drummer, Danny Carey, referred to this album as their "blues album". Subscribed and looking forward to seeing you discover more T00L.
WE HAVE BEEN SUMMONED! Perfect first pick for a Tool song, and this is the intro for a lot of react channels because it hits so hard and it's not as challenging as some others.
Subscribed!
WAIT, IT GETS MORE COMPLEX ? THANKS FOR THE WELCOME
@@MugnifyRTS oh yes the music gets more complexed. You are probably thinking how so when the Pot has so many layers. All I can say is listen. The lyrics in the Pot after a read might blow your mind too
@@MugnifyRTS Yessir! And the more you learn, in many areas, the more you'll get out of it too.
Like @davidward9737 says below the lyrics of THIS song might hold more for you to find. To illustrate one example - "weeping shades of cozened indigo"
Cozened, ok, faked, but why indigo? ;) What's related to the color indigo and eyes (spiritually)?
This was probably the best tool reaction I’ve seen thus far. It was a real joy and pleasure watching as a tool fan. Thank you
I would LOVE to see you react to their live performance of Sober from the 90’s. I forgot what festival they were doing but it was a music fest performance and the lead singer is performing and singing like I’ve never seen before. I wish I could’ve seen that performance live and I trust you’ll feel the same way.
“What is this” was the correct reaction 😂 they are unbelievable. Your just gettin started dude!!
I vote you listen to Descending from the fear innoculum album next!
Great video!
46&2 is incredible as well as a shit-ton of their other stuff. You can't go wrong with tool.
Is this your first time listening to Tool? If it is, I am so jealous! I would give anything to go back and listen to their entire catalogue for the first time. I think I speak for all Tool fans when I say "we look forward to taking the journey with you". Every Tool song is a masterpiece.

@@babyblueagle so true. Maynard has such a loyal fan base. Gotta love their support and passion.
A Perfect Circle as well
You are being introduced to one of the funkiest, most badass Metal bands of all-time. It’s a feast for your senses and a frisson party put together. 🦋
Tool are an absolute TREASURE. One of the greatest bands to have ever formed. And "The Pot" is a must-listen to anyone who loves music.
Maynard was in a failing attempt to become a country music singer and Danny (drummer, and oldest member of Tool,) somehow managed to talk Maynard into changing genre and joining his band.
Maynard had a LOT of pent up emotion; his dad was an abusive pastor, his mom battled cancer and lost.
Maynard brought that tempest of unbridled rage and anguish to his lyrics, and Tool changed the world.
They don’t even have a record label. They put their own money into their own production. Full control of everything.
They named their own business entity as their record label. They have full creative control, which is why they sound the way their do. No one tells them how to sound.
Amazing stuff.
"Lyrically its the Blues" like holy shit man you just blew my mind and ive been listening to them for 10 years 😮
😂😂😂❤
TOOL, one of the absolute GODS of Music. Proud to be from the country with the most TOOL fans per Capita. NEW ZEALAND Have never met a person whos never heard of TOOL. Maynard is a largened.
It never gets old seeing new Tool fans being born. I have been a Tool fan since 1993 when Undertow was released. They have evolved and gotten better over the years. I loved this reaction video. ❤️
Prepare yourself because there’s so so sooo much more to discover from Tool. I’ve often see where they describe Tool as being their own genre. These guys are music geniuses. I’ve only been listening to them for about a year now and I’m enjoying the ride so far in hearing everything from their 1st to last album. The only thing I will add is that They can hardly ever sound very similar to their other songs.
I’ve been listening to Tool for 13 years, you will never stop peeling through layers of their composition, even years later. I find new little nuances in their music to this day that I never internalized.
Tool is a very special entity! I have never been disappointed.
Okay, I will confess... I'm 66 years old and Tool is up there with all my favorites! That includes Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Doors, Stones, and Beatles.
I sincerely love that you've described TOOL as blues, I never thought of it this way
It works
46&2, the drums in that one are so so good and it's another accessible song where the time signatures aren't as complex às most of their stuff.
Maynard is a world class lyricist, among many other things. He is the singer in 3 bands, all still making music today...Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, all chocked FULL of masterful compositions!
I’ve been listening to tool since I was 13 in 1992, and they have evolved more than any other musical act in history as far as I’m aware. Most amazing on earth most agree. And I never get tired, witnessing the birth of a new fan. Enjoy the ride!
Tool is the best band on the planet & has been for some time
as a huge TOOL fan I vicariously enjoyed your reaction.. spiral out man !! keep goin !!
suggestion:
tool - pneuma live Danny Carey drum-cam version
Led Zeppelin no quarter (tool cover)
...
This is the song that gets most people into Tool now. Amazing song but still nowhere near their best work. It's just the most accessible. Drive in. Dive in. Spiral out in this rabbit hole you've just discovered. It'll be more than worthwhile and satisfying. I promise.
I had listened to all of older Tool by the time this album released. I agree that OVERALL the album isn't as strong as the previous, but there was a very special and particular "vibe" to this album, part of it the songs and the other part the production/mixing, where it just had this "special juice" to it and I've listened to this album overwhelmingly more than the others.
Damn, I read that "drive in, dive in, spiral out" in Timothy Learys voice for some reason lol
@@thinkingoutloud3757 I can agree with everything you said. My personal favorite is Lateralus but it just depends on my mood on what album I want to hear at that time because they are all amazing. That being said, I was just talking about the song itself being more accessible to people who aren't used to hearing this genre of music. This genre being Tool.
@@MikeThePole Now I can't unhear it that way. Thank you, sincerely.
There's no such thing as their best work. You might say I like that song better than this one but never say this is better than this one. There is no such thing.
Tools ability to bring everybody into their rabbit hole of a catalouge is amazing.
Their time signatures, stylistic patterns, they borrow so much from all spectrums of musicianship.
Welcome to the Tool family, It’s hard to describe their music. All I know is it’s amazing. Love your review!
Strap in brother. You have came across something special in this lifetime. Every song is a masterpiece
Knowing the way you were taking it all in. I think he is already ready for”Tool-Lateralus”
Been listening to tool since I was young and it slams in the car!
“Lyrically, it’s the blues” has given me much food for thought, thank you for tht excellent and interesting perspective.
You gave me goosebumps watching you rock out to this unbelievable band!!
I’m sure you’ll hear hundreds here say the same thing but, it’s fun for us to watch first timers experience Tool for the very first time. You picked a good one to start with. That’s one of the few where you can catch the rhythm. Good luck from here on out. You’re officially an addict lol
Best band, best drummer! You will love tool. Every new song becomes your favorite. Great reaction sir 🤘🌀
It never gets old watching someone fall in love with tool.
I LOVE watching people listen to TOOL for the first time! Welcome, TOOL fan. The journey begins 🤘
1:43 caught in the rusty gate swing. 😂 No other band can make the sound you just paused on. That’s what the Tool Army is founded on.😂 Welcome to the family.
“Descending” is a mind blowing song!!
They are a band that takes their music very seriously, and are all excellent musicians!
Tool are the kings of Polyrhythmic melodies.
Excellent musicianship and a fantastic engineer doing the mixing.
Been listening to these guys since the 90's. I've never been disappointed. The best way I describe the band is that anyone in tool, could fill in and play with any other and around. But there are very few if any at all that could sit with Tool and try to play along. welcome!
You've definitely got an ear for the intricacies of music. And lyrics at that. You're gonna love TOOL. Listen to RIGHT IN TWO by them next please. I think the drums, music, AND lyrics in that one will resonate with you.
Been a fan since a teenager and im 45. Welcome brother to a unique sound and just listen and appreciate talent. Great band. Great sound. Worth the journey every time.
60 yrs young THIS IS TAKING ME HOME !! Feeds my soul THANK YOU LOVE PEACE N HUGE RESPECT XXX
Keep it friggin REAL
Tool doesnt write a song, they compose a work of art. Art to be admired for generations.
They write epics
Please go down this rabbit hole!! Great reaction. It’s almost impossible to bob your head to Tool. Their music tends to be in irregular time signatures. Enjoy the ride bro!!
It's always a pleasure to watch someone genuinely discover the band Tool. Watching you get your mind blown on one of their songs for the first time brings me back to when it happened to me.
And the song The Pot is pretty much a perfect entry point to listen to this band.
Cheers!
I love how you describe painting a picture. I've listened to a lot of break downs of this song and this is the first time I've heard this. I admit I'm a Tool fan, but you hit it on the nose. This is the most talented band I've ever heard. The drummer is arguably the best drummer in the world. Maynard is one of the best singers in the world. The guitar and and bass are in the best in the world. If you enjoy music, even if you don't like heavy/progressive metal.... You know Tool is amazing.
Tool is a whole ride man, phenomenal and creative music. You've got a big rabbit hole to go down with them and Tool Army always shows up for reaction videos. We love seeing how people listening for the first time experience it.
Yep. Agreed with a few others. Do the Pneuma drum cam and be blown away by the song, the band and by the AMAZING Danny Carey.
No matter the song or artist, music bringing a smile to someone is great to see...
This is why I love reaction videos… seeing people discovering something you love and enjoying the hell out of it just like you do.. much love and respect… this is the road to peace and unity in America.
This band is one of a kind. Even against the legendary rock bands of old.
Best reaction to The Pot ive seen so far. You vibed out hard...wasted no time trying to analyze the lyrics, no time wasted trying to figure it out & think too hard. You just listened & felt it, thats what its about.
Maynard (the singer) has said this song is the best for people that never heard Tool
Love Watching your reactions to Tool!! Your commentary shows that you truly appreciate what they do. I've been a fan for 20 years and am still blown away every time! Incredible musicians!! Enjoying Watching your journey!!
All 4 of the band members work well together and separate at the same time. You are listening to a life long musicianship.
Not just I'm in the band.
I just subbed '2 minutes in' after seeing you loving them so much. I really do love how 'The Pot' has become such a good introductory Tool song for people to react to on RUclips. Glad you enjoyed it. Tool army will show up. Enjoy the ride.
If you're calling the pot a category 6, please remember this comment when you finish listening to Aenima (pronounced Ahneema so you know, lol).
Tool are indeed their own genre. They came out of the alternative rock/metal scene of the early 90s, but they ended up having such a unique sound that was utterly their own, a kind of progressive take on alternative metal, and despite their huge influence over the last 30 years they still remain utterly distinctive.
I'm loving that another brother is discovering and loving Tool. It's chaotic perfection. Every beat and every syllable deliberate. Straight Dope!
"Bro what is this!" Is about the truest reaction to Tool there is.
The guitar is texture
The rhythm is landscape
Absolutely love when music lovers get around to Tool. love the fact even more so that I was alive through Tool's discography.
You can literally feel every layer of that music flow through your body when seeing them live!
Welcome to Tool. By far the best band that ever existed.
Bro I've been listening to Tool for over twenty years now, and your explanation of picturing the layers separately just opened up a new level to this song for me. Wicked
Your reaction to this is exactly how every Tool song makes me feel. And I’ve been listening to them since 93. Welcome to your next rabbit hole. Looking forward to seeing more Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. Enjoy
In the intro, those are digital "Mandala" drum pads that Danny has samples on, but he hits with his sticks. He can have hundreds of sounds on each of the seven that he has in his kit.
I think you're right but I know Danny works with Aloke Dutta for recorded percussion, so for the album tracks it is probably an actual Tabla rather than tha mandalas. He absolutely uses the mandalas for live shows though!
I seriously love listening to tool reaction videos. These guys have been absolutely rocking it since early/ mid-90s. IMO, they are the most talented musicians I've ever been exposed to. You will have mind-blowing reactions to every song from Tool.
Tool is in a category its own theres a lot of bands that are like this but basically genrational bands that HAVE stood the test of time
You're one of the most astute reactors ive seen, looking forward to more! You should do full album reactions! I highly recommend Invincible and Descending!
When other reactors do the album, do they do the whole thing all at once or separate videos?
@@MugnifyRTS depends on the person. Imo, one at a time is best because Tool songs are dense and can take time to 'digest', but either way would be dope! Just don't do the music/lyric videos please, way too distracting
Welcome to the club. You have no idea what you’re In for. These guys changed my perception of all music and what it could mean to me. Keep going. You will certainly not be disappointed 😎✌️
Sir, YOU have a new fan! The way you described their music as a painting, instant like and subscribe ❤
Danny Carey on drums is an absolute animal.
I was stoked to see you were reacting to this! "Aenema" is a good one by Tool to try next.
