Its such a shame that he got so much hate for his acting in episode 2 and 3, to the point he stopped acting. He had some crap dialouge yeah but thats in no way his fault. Im so happy hes back and i cant wait to see him in ahsoka series

He was never a bad actor. He just didn't get the right direction.
It was the same way in Revenge of the Sith. Some of the dialog was utter shit, but if you needed him to convey an emotion, or emotions with just a look, or silent facial acting, Hayden always delivered.
I love how the voice modulator goes from "Anakin" because it's glitching and we here his normal voice, to "Darth Vader" because he starts getting angry. To me it conveyed the final transition from Anakin to Darth.

Hayden is SUCH a good actor and I am so glad he got another chance to prove himself in star wars. Just the emotion he is able to show with one side of his face. It's incredible. One of the most powerful scenes in all of star wars.

@@BuckyLarson69 Vader is stronger than Obi but what the series was trying to nail was Vader is still impatient and gets cocky, the point is that Vader could never kill obi until he lets him kill him by his own choice, obi has never been stronger than anakin at any point but he’s more level headed

What will always amaze me is the lighting, when Anakin said he's not Obiwan's failure and he didn't kill Anakin there were both blue and red, ...but.. the moment he says "I did" it became full red.. showing The Dark side has officially taken over

There's a theory going around that this was Anakin trying to tell Obi-Wan to forgive himself, he blames himself for killing Anakin, but if Vader is the one that killed him; Obi Wan doesn't have to feel bad anymore.
Complicated I mean we know for a fact Vader hated his decision and only proceeded his way because he destroyed all option to go back in his eyes, but he also deeded his anger with hatred for the Jedi and obi wan to grow in the dark side and not loose his mind so could be but personally I don't think so
I find it very sad that Anakin only became Darth Vader because obi wan was the wrong teacher, what is only be done because it had to be I mean the original trilogy is what it was xD so Darth Vader had to be born
And yeah we saw almost full potential Anakin in legends Luke but I think Anakin is like 100x better in any way then Luke :D
Hayden Christensen confirmed that at a press junket- that the line was the last bit of Anakin trying to relieve Obi Wan of feeling guilt - ‘Don’t blame yourself, it was my fault, I did this to myself’ etc etc
Yeah I agree, anakin only stayed on the dark side because he felt like the light side would never accept him back in my opinion, so he stays and falls deeper and deeper into his own hatred and anger and buries anakin in a hole
Yiu can tell it was the last bit of Anakin (that obiwan sees) by the lighting of the lightsabers on Anakin's face.

This is definitely my favourite star wars tv show so far. The final battle was perfectly executed and Obi Wan's reaction to Anakin's face under the helmet was priceless. Here's hoping they go for a second season

Say what you will about the Obi Wan series, dialogue in this scene is top tier.
Even though it was emotional, that line was hard as fuck
Hayden has brought nothing but the absolute master class in acting as both Anakin and Vader.
Even ewan mcgregor stated the scene wasn’t even supposed to be this emotional, but seeing Hayden in the suit, and seeing the two halves of anakin and vader, the split personalities together, and seeing how far gone this character is was made the actor more so feeling the duality and the struggle of anakins character, say what you want, phenomenal acting on mcgregors and Christiensens part but man the powers of good story telling of characters that ferment and sit in time, and how we can take the negatives and look at the positives it’s just absolutely amazing, I will always turn back to this scene and just reflect, an emotional gut punch for two of the most predominant figures in Star Wars in it’s entirety and the mythos 👏

All these years and Hayden’s _still_ got it. The way he acts with his eyes … I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
Anakin didn’t think if he turned back he could come back to anything plus the dark side of the force was so overwhelming. It’s a sad tragic story but I wish we had an alternate universe of anakin not turning
I love how emotional this scene is
"I am not your failure Obi Wan"...If you think about this statement...it shows that Anakin is still in there, there is still good inside. Almost like he doesn't want Obi Wan to feel bad about what's happened... it is this tiny shred of humanity that ultimately saves Luke in episode 6. Excellent foreshadowing.

This was the only time we really got to see Hayden as Darth Vader and damn he did a great job with this scene
That explains the plot hole completely cause the dialogue in jedi makes it seems like obiwan had luke on a need to know basis and he didnt need to know but this scene explains how what obi wan said was true darth killed his friend Anakin they are no longer the same person he never calls him anakin again

In a way I felt like this was Anakin actually helping Kenobi with his guilt, and put him back on the path of the jedi

Two months later and I'm still watching this, and still crying a bit, and my wife hates me for it
Obiwans biggest kistake here was leaving calling him Darth, in other words, accepting Analin was gone, Ahsoka does the same. Luke on the other hand, will refuse that and believes Anakin is still there, thats what made the story so beautiful, that the one who helped Vader redeem himself was the only one who didnt give up on him
Calling him “Darth” was a nice call back to ANH’s Obi-wan calling him Darth like it was his first name

Listen closely to Anakin/Vader after he says, "I'm not your failure".
The damaged voice modulation keeps going back and forth from Anakin to Vader but when he says, "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did." It's a 3rd voice, if your really pay attention you'll realize and hear those 2 lines are Paloatine's voice. It adds so much more context to it
Anakin forsook his former identity and embraced Vader, metaphorically and symbolically killing his former self.
When the blue was on Anakin, it was the real him speaking, but when the red was on him, it was the dark side speaking.
When he said "you didn't kill anakin, I did." That was his way of struggling to say "This wasn't your fault. I did this to myself."
That was one of the only real moments in the entire series that I felt. The rest seemed so contrived. When he says, "You didn't kill Anakin, I did." , I totally believed it.
This single thing is what set luke above. Regardless of all he knew anakin could be saved
I met haydens stunt double at comiccon 2023, and i explained my thoughts and definition on darth vader/anakin and George Lucas's version as well. He loved what i said about the character of darth vader/anakin
Notice that it's the left side that reveals his face? Ahsoka takes off the right side. But the only one who was ever show to fully remove it, was his son. And without fighting too.

Theory is.. what if anakin wanted obi wan to kill him both times.. thats why he was so angry. Thats why vader tells palpatine “his fate will be like ours” in the end of episode 6
You can literally see in Vader eyes that Anakin is yelling for help
I love how he tells Obi Won he didnt kill Anakin with the blue highlighting his face as sort of a symbol of Anakin paying his last way to give his master comfort b4 it turns red as he says he did with that evil look.

Anakin was always alive he was stuck in the darkside they only way out of the suite could kill him so he felt trapped and had so much anger but in return of the Jedi anakin came back again and accepted his fate

NGL, I cried too. Starwars has been a huge part of my life since I was a little boy. Anakin and obi wan were heroes for me growing up. And seeing this really just... Hits home... It's sad and haunting

The funny thing about the Sith is that there’s never a time when they’re *not* plotting against each other. They try to limit themselves to two at a time specifically to cut down on this.

Obi wan misunderstood when Vader said you didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker, that was Anakin saying don’t blame yourself and trying to be kind. If Vader wanted to inflict maximum pain he would have blamed Obi wan.

the sad part is even then Anakin was only lying to himself about who he really is. he tried to kill that part of himself. destroy it, deny who he was. deep down he knew he really wasn't gone.
That’s Why i think the Name Return of the Jedi is so cool because it’s the return of Anakin skywalker
I love how Obi-Wan doesn’t call him Vader, but Darth, as he did in Episode IV. It’s like a dig at him, saying that he’s no longer even an individual, he’s just another Sith.

This is parallel to what happen to Ashoka and vander. The only difference Ashoka was prepared to die with vader because she would not leave him behind. Also vader offered mercy to Ashoka something he did not do Kenobi
