- In this video I install a HID kit on my 1990 Nissan 300ZX. I purchased the kit from DDMTUNING. I also breakdown why I chose to install HIDs instead of LEDs like most people do. LEDs is the quick and easy way, however in my opinion, HIDs is the better option for low beams in the 300ZX. Hope you guys enjoy the video!

As soon as I saw the title of the video I was excited. Most would disagree that HID>LED but as far as plug and play options go, for us Z32s, HID are superior to LED.
Then when I saw the DDM tuning package I knew you would be satisfied. They literally are the best HID kit on the market. I’ve installed so many kits on so many cars, they’re quality, price point and even customer service are second to none. Good move with the 55W 4500k, best look 👌🏼
I prefer the slim ballast kit personally. I also suggest cleaning the inside of your headlamps regardless. They may appear clean but you will still be able to wipe some residue off. Mine were pretty clean too, so cleaning didn’t make much of a noticeable difference.
Cool simple vid! I like these as they get new comers involved with their Zs as well, building confidence and understanding little by little 👍🏼
Thanks man! Maybe I’ll clean out my headlights when I have the engine out next winter. Speaking of which, I saw your silver z’s engine bay pic on a post on Facebook. Love how clean it looks and that’s very similar to what I want for mine. I’ll definitely be bugging you the next few months for tips! 👌👍
Nice job on the install!
A few weeks ago I installed LEDs from Auxito. They seem pretty nice. Quite a bit brighter than the stock lights.
Definitely switching to HIDs now. I appreciate you sir!
Right on!
nice to see a local Z32 build in progress, looking good!! I did the reverse, mechanical first (TT swap) then body after.
That’s ideally the way I would have done it too so i don’t damage the body by accident, but unfortunately this was the way it worked for me. Will busy have to be extra careful doing the engine bay work I guess 😅
Thanks man I’m definitely gonna order these…btw your z is life!!!!
Thank you bro! Appreciate it!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
edit: yes, it is
Is that a bodykit from Twinz Design? 😍👍🏻
MashaAllah..you rock dude..having such mad skills. coming from a guy who can't even change a tire..😊
Thank you brother. No skills here, just an amateur learning as I go 😅
Honestly when it comes to hid kit..them zentex ebay brand are no different..I been rocking them for the pass 20yrs..they are like $30 can't beat that..the thing about hid is not about the bulb but the projection of the light..can't make a shitty projector nice regardless of brand..one of the best projector is on the Acura TSX.. I have countless car with projector but mostly design for halogen and they are just that..a correct hid projector will be night vs a halogen projector..
Can you make a parts list and how to turbo the NA
Yes I’m going to do that when I do the build, parts, steps, cost, how-to, all of it
Also what are the options you chose for the lights I've been wanting a nice light kit for my 1990
55w
4500k
And bulb size for low beam is 9006
Nice and what plans you have for high beams?
High beams it’s better to use LEDs in my opinion, the high beam isn’t a projector and also if you use LEDs there’s no delay in it turning on when you are driving and turn on your high beams, HIDs take a couple seconds to turn on and warm up. If you’re driving and you turn on your high beams, with LEDs they will turn on right away, with HIDs there would be a 1-2 second delay and you would be driving in the dark until they warm up and turn on!
On the 90, are the lights 9006 and we’re there any suggestions on ordering? Ex. I have the same year z32, ordering the 55k ballast and 6500 lights. Any additional harnesses or adapters needed?
Yes 9006 for low beam for USDM models, JDM models are different I think, not 100% sure. Nothing else needed, I just purchased the DDM Plus Canbus Kit for that bulb size. Plug and play. Just keep in mind 6500K will be a fairly blue light, not white.
Did you do that interior yourself? if so what material is that? it looks so good
Yes I did and it’s alcantara everywhere. Seats are genuine leather
@@FarazXAhmed Car looks great and thanks for the video, Just bought myself HIDS
I use the same HIDs on my truck. Have them for 5 years no issues. Qq what are you running for fog lights?
My fog lights are those led lights near the bottom of my bumper. Those lights turn yellow for turn signals and white for fog lights. Just eBay lights, they’re kind of the go to option with the TwinZ front bumper
Do you remember what brand or company you got them from on ebay.
I have a rhd one that uses h3c bulbs do you think these will still fit?
I don’t think so, bulbs between the USDM and JDM headlights aren’t interchangeable I think. I’m not actually sure what bulb the JDM one uses but if you can find that out then you should be able to purchase HIDS from this website for that bulb size.
@@FarazXAhmed thank you appreciate the info
Why is there that little square-shaped cut-out or indention in the corner of your gas cap?
To extend the gas door and and make it wider to go with the rest of the wide body kit. That’s why it’s kind of cut that way to go with the curve of the wider fender at the back.
And the little cut out is so the gas door can open and doesn’t get stuck or hit the fender
I love it!
@@FarazXAhmed hmm ok, thanks for explaining!
My issue with hid is they always worked unreliably on my previous Z. How reliable are HIDs in your opinion?
Might have been great so far, 0 issues. However I haven’t really had them long enough, and I also don’t daily my Z and haven’t driven it much at night…
@@FarazXAhmedgood to know, thanks brother
which bulb u chose?
9006 is the low beam bulb size
@@FarazXAhmed thnx
holy crap dude you got a beautiful Z and you go HID??? yikes go LED youll thank me later.
Why the HID hate? I’m not opposed to LEDs but wanted to give HIDs a go first. Did you have bad luck with HIDs?
@Faraz Ahmed no its not ad bright as leds and they are way more money.
So why didn't you show the results driving at night? Anticlimactic.
Because it was February in Canada lol -40 degrees Celsius and piles of snow 🤣
