Nice, I really like teardowns. Was a bit surprised that makita uses radial fan, interesting.

Radial fans make less noise and more pressure.
The capacitor on that makita is huge.
That cap exists on all Makita 40V tools in this form factor. For a 100% mains-disconnected DC battery tool, the cap is just as good or maybe better than a fuse.
Hitachi needs to have a fuse because it could be hooked up to Hitachi's AC adapter.
The hikoki is impressive for its size
watch out running em open like that , they heat up VERY quick , just put on low and cover it a bit you can feel the air heat up mad quick
Interesting teardown, probably the 18v version of the Makita does not look much different. I struggle to understand Makitas design decision to have the open electronics in the air intake direction. Sure it helps with the cooling but they advertise these as shop dust blowers and since the dust in inside environments usually has a habit of not staying in front of your dust blower exclusively, some clogging and sucking in of dust seems inevitable despite the rather macro filters in the back. So either this thing needs a teardown and dust blowing of its interior itself from time to time or it will clog and break down like some of Makitas leaf blowers are prone to.

When is Makita coming out with dual voltage batteries, I wonder. Seems Hikoki beat them to it.
It's not a "dual-voltage" battery. I think the label just means that it can be paired with another 18v battery to produce a 36v combined voltage in a tool that uses two batteries.
@@miscemail2901Hikoki owns exclusive patent for multivolt battery. To be exact, Hikoki battery can output two types of voltage: 18v or 36v depending on the pin of the device receiving the power source.
Why do both tools use radial blowers? They're much less efficient than axial fans and, as mentioned in the video, they tend to blow air everywhere except where it's needed.
This is the motor on the vacuum cleaner, no need to redevelop a new one
Radial blowers generate more pressure than axial impellers within the same size. But axials are better if you stack them. If you are curious about It, you can check how helicopter's jet engines mix axial and radial flow impellers :).
