    Didn't feel great out of the packet when first tried on and I was concerned about the fit and seeming loosening of the strap, but in the water, where it counts, they were absolutely great. Zoggs predator and predator flex are my goto goggles, but I wanted to try something different for a change, and I took a punt on these. I'm glad I did. They're comfortable, confidence inspiring with a good field of vision. I'd happily use them for a long swim or an event.

      I think they’d be good in open water swimming. The field of view is massive. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

    Another good video Matt. The 2.0’s are my go to racing goggle. I love them. Interestingly, though, they don’t work well for me in a pool. They leak a bit when I push off the wall. But, there are zero issues in open water. In my first triathlon, not know there was a difference I used a scuba diving wetsuit for the swim. My shoulders were smoked before the first turn!!

      Interesting, I only tested these in the pool. The visibility on these are amazing. Love that you used a scuba diving wetsuit for the swim. Such a great story. I've been thinking about making a video just talking about funny triathlon stories like that. I'm sure the community has some other hysterical triathlon stories. 👍

    In my first Half Ironman, I managed swim right into a small lane marker buoy! It hit me in the eye, moving my goggle slightly, so that one eye flooded with water - I didn't want to lose any time, so I kept swimming (I probably only had about 600m to go), but it taught me to keep an more of an eye out for where I'm swimming in future!!

    In my first Olympic (3rd ever) tri, I got a real taste of pack swimming. I had people on top of me, extremely close to me, throwing punches (or so it felt) at me, etc. I may have had a mild panic attack during the first 200-300 yards until the herd thinned. I also may (or may not) have had some errant strokes towards others. I now know this is normal and am still working on dealing with it.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  4 года назад

      The panic attack in the water is real. I'm guessing that no one is intentionally taking swings at you. Don't hesitate to start to one side or the other for a smoother start. Always works for me. 👌

    Open water swim at Hagg Lake July 2019 was an awful swim for me. My goggles were leaking (just decided they didn't want to work) and it was too soon after shoulder surgery to be doing that long a swim in choppy water. The lake had never been choppy like that, so I didn't expect it and it was quite the unwelcome surprise. I basically just glided along...socialized on my way out of the water, knowing it was over. Didn't care. Wasn't worried. Just relieved to be out of the water.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  4 года назад

      I've so been there. Just wanting to get through the swim, out of the water, and not giving a damn about the actual race.

    My difficult situation.. was the swiim cancellation at my 70.3.. small craft advisotyr.. 20 minutes after they told everyone it was wetsuit legal (so everyone was still struggling to get into their wetsuits :D :D ) Keep up the great content!

    Another great review! My first Ironman was IM Wisconsin. It was a mass start and I got kicked so hard in the goggles I thought for sure I was going to end up with black eyes.

      Matt LeGrand It was actually comical to me. And I’m for certain some 6 ft. plus man put is hand on my mid back, pushed be down, and swam over the top of me. Again, it was more comical than anything to me.

    Since Tyr is the Norse god of war, it makes sense that their products have militaristic sounding names.

    Great review Matt. Again... I see that Tyr is a "love it" or "not so much" goggle. As you said, they certainly commit to one end of the spectrum full throttle and it either works or doesn't for you. I tolerate mine right now but still on the hunt... heck right now I'd take anything to get back to swim training. Looking forward to the speedo review.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  4 года назад

      Yeah, I haven't made the Speedo video yet. I think I'll wait until after pools open back up. Probably not the best time to be posting goggle review videos. 🤔 But I do think the Speedo Vanquisher 2.0s are some of the best goggles I've tested. Thank you so much for watching and commenting on these videos. I really do appreciate it. 👍

    Thanks for taking the time to do this review. The goggles look good, maybe like you said they are a little too large.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, I think that’s what people like about them but it also makes the fit difficult. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍

    Open water swim in the Sea of Cortez as part of IM Los Cabos. Not used to the swells or the salt. Made me so very sick.

      @@mlegrand, the crazy part about doing reviews of things like goggles and shoes and clothes is one tends to review to his own preferences. I think as long as the viewer understands that, it's all good.
      Keep churning out the good stuff, Ace!

    I love these goggles but the bridge crushes my nose (I have a hump shaped nose) and I need more nose clearance. Can anyone recommend a google like the special ops 3 but with better nose clearance?
