Better tracking than the HoverAir X1 on release that’s for sure, just needs more speed and the something doing with video! But that’s DJIs decision. For the money it’s a winner for me.
Thank you for the video. Impressive little drone! Yes currently they say it is a toy manly because of the video quality and the maximum speed but this “Action AI” drone category will evolve in the future and they will be everywhere like the pocket action cameras. It is so easy to operate that a kid can do it. As well I think it is perfect for people who want go into FPV.
Great to see it used in exactly the way I will be on my cycletouring adventures and the start and end sequence looked great as well using this little drone for establishing shots. Thank you for great video! If I wanted to use a Neo to film snowboarding with the quickshot follow mode on, and the drone loses track of me mid-ride, only for me to realize it when it's already tens of meters uphill, how could I regain control? Would it be possible to do so with a phone or controller without having to hike back up the slope?
@@Drone.vision yep I was in the settings recording my next video with an ND filter and 100% filmed with DJI Neo and your message popped up haha - talk about timing !
Great video, appreciate the effort. I actually booked the X1 Pro via indigogo and refunded when I saw the Neo. Yes, diff image quality, speed but it's less than1/3 of the price, 1st timer like me can't say no😅. For high speed sharp bend downhill riding, I'll be using my insta X4, not confident to fly the X1 Pro following me, also don't want to endanger other road users. I'll be happy using the Neo for running, hiking and leisure ride with family. Only ships end of Sept in Malaysia though.
The DJI NEO is a great starter drone, has pretty much all methods of control if you want to invest in upgrading like the remote or even FPV goggles - once you've got confidence in using them you can update if you want to or not! X1 Pro looks good but the price is a big factor. Enjoy the Neo !
Do you agree that maybe DJI made this one just mainly to the phone user? becasue when I watch the video from my computer, full screen. It's quite clear the video quality arent that good. but when I watch you video on my iPhone. I cant tell much different and actually the video quality seems perfect there :) and if we consider posting on social media, the screen is even smaller. so I guess that the DJI target for this drone. :) And I'm starting to think of getting one for me haha! the best drone seems to be the one we can use most :) Do you post content on IG, facebook too sir? I want to go and see the quality of video/picture there.
Just that entry level video for most, in fairness every other DJI Drone mini3 upward is excellent video IMO but lacks this follow feature in headless mode...
Are you able to change the video setting in the app? I want to take one of these bikepacking with me for a week but don't want to take the RC controller. If I can only change the settings through a controller and not the app, sharpness in particular (the Neo is apparently oversharpened +2 by default) then I don't think I'll be getting it.
I had a look at the app to change settings around but had to do it via the controller app settings, don’t dismiss just yet as only a software update away from DJI maybe to amend/improve the user interface.
@@englishcyclist Cheers for checking that so quicky. Okay, I have my fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath, bikepacking trip is only a few weeks away. 😕
I’ve had the Hover X1 for the last 12 mths recording my gravel riding adventures. It has very similar performance to the Neo in many ways but my main issue was that it simply was too slow and I had to ride 20kpg or less to stay on track.
I found the X1 fine on straight lines and slower riding, but had to learn to steer it as it had a wide arc when taking a corner. Both need a few extra mph in tracking modes imo.
@@englishcyclist agreed. The X1 was fine so long as I wasn’t going too fast - static circle and zooms out all good and follow at gentle speeds. But the new X1 Pro and Pro Max are on Indigogo right now. They are really next generation with 2 axis gimbal, higher bit rate, 8K for the Max and follow speeds up to 42kph and burst of 60kph to accelerate into position. These appear to be a totally different beast and you pay for it but only 10% more than I paid for the X1. Over the weekend I actually sold my 12mth old X1 on eBay for more than the price of a new Neo but I think I’m going for the X1 Pro because it seems much more powerful and I like the fold away design better. Just slips in a jersey pocket or ¼ frame bag on my gravel bike.
The speed is vastly improved on the X1 Pro, but then again so is the price - the one that would interest me the most is the beacon and remote cycling package but that runs currently on IndiGoGo X1 PRO Cycling Combo £558 RRP will be £805 which is a whole new level. Still will keep an eye open and see how that unfolds :)
Do you have a download link for a portion of the footage straight out of the camera? So many comments about poor quality video, but cannot tell via RUclips. Thanks. Great quality tracking, however, and exactly my use case.
@@englishcyclist Many thanks - will be great to see it. I'm on chat with DJI asking "So many reviews complaining about oversharpened video. Can change this when using the controller, but will the reduced sharpening persist when then flying autonomously?" Awaiting a sensible answer!
@@englishcyclist Got the impression from the DJI chat that changes to sharpness when using the controller are ignored when flying autonomously. However, I stressed that the default sharpness should be zero, not +2. They have passed this on to their engineers!

Dear sir, may I know this part -> "I have set the DJI NEO to -0.2 EV and -2 Sharpness" So far when I watched on other channels and test flight. they said the only way to adjust this is sharpness is when connected to controller only. I'm not so sure how do you adjust the pro mode on the phone, could you explain this to us ? I even saw pp paste what DJI had said -> note:. from DJI Support Hi there. The camera parameters set in the remote controller will not be applied when the drone is controlled by phone Wi-Fi. I'm getting confused now. Thank you sir
My question is also if you have to hold the controller all the time, how can we still bike in the wood or hiking on top of mountian without holding that controller, I dont want to film video and see me holding the controller, just for the sake of having sharpness to -2 🤕😿
I would guess DJI Support means in Mobile App mode it's all Auto and not currently able to set these video settings (true even with todays Firmware update) - in Pro mode which I would guess they mean Controller or in FPV mode with a headset you can alter the video settings into manual. I hope this changes btw.
