This park is really nice. Damg this would save me so much tine walking trails 3 times for a shot if only it did video in 360. 😂 This is a great route for exercise! I would love doing that boxing route. That was awesome how it dodged the tree! Well the first one at least. lol .😅😂 It lastest a great long time. That was really interesting. I set it to high so it wasn’t in the way of anyone. I was surprised just how little anyone was even bothered by it, even with the unique sound it makes whilst following you lol and the dogs weren’t interested at all. My cat however is a different story and absolutely hates it. If I play a video even through headphones where they can still hear the sound of the Neo she darts off instantly lol

@@cinematic-travels Let me know how you get on with it. The Neo does have it’s own unique noise and isn’t quite as quiet as the Mini 3/4 Pro but still not so noisy as the people so far don’t seem interested in it luckily lol

I am even considering getting the Hover X1 Pro Max as well so I can do reviews on that one too but this one is a bit of a no brainer at that price. Was up at Castle Hill yesterday flying it as a normal drone and did quite well. Battery life a bit shorter obviously plus got to be more mindful if windy and at higher altitudes lol

It’s not quite as good quality as something like the Mini 3 Pro or Mini 4 Pro for example but still a great little starter drone for people. I have been out filming multiple videos with it today. tip use voice control in follow mode then if you are approaching lower branches just say, Hey Fly , Lower" when back into the clear again . say, hey fly "Higher" 🙂

LOL no not yet although something does happen in the video ; ) I thought it was worth a punt at £169. The price point will make this ultra popular for the masses and is a good way to get into droning. It might not be for everyone but definitely worth it for the occasional B roll shots etc and probably good enough for youtube, quality wise and perhaps VLOGs etc.

@@DionProbo Thanks Jack I appreciate you watching and commenting. This is the raw footage that was taken and edited using LumaFusion. The only setting I changed on the Neo was sharpness down to minus 1 but I will probably increase this to minus 2 in future. I hope this helps. I do know that lighting is a major factor as to how good the Neo looks. Luckily the Neo was set to high which means its pointing down to the subject which was me in this case so it doesn’t get direct sunlight which then bleaches the image. The tree’s helped a lot too but when I was in the darkest areas of the park you can, if you look closely see image noise so it’s finding the right balance that works best. It’s a clever little drone for the money and perfect for vlogging and beginners to drones too : )
I bought this as well the flight time is based on how good the given day environment is, if its windy it gives less time. I seems to gettin about 10 mins if you out flight still at one place it gives even less time, the more it keep moving the better time

That’s the problem with RUclips videos. You always wish you had done this, added that etc when your editing LOL. It’s a nice simple video with me waffling on about various things whilst seeing how long the battery lasts in a real environment as well as how much continuous footage it does with a single battery. It was a lot more than I thought it would be plus the memory didn’t get full either with the onboard memory which is quite good. See you again soon : )
Good video - thanks for doing it. I bought mine to add another view when mountain biking. Your video gives me confidence that it will be able to follow me through trees on slower up hill and some flat areas - although I’m sure it won’t keep up on the downhills. I’ll be trying it at the weekend. I’ll use my GoPro chest mounted at the same time so I can take the audio from that.

Yes I must admit it felt a lot slower when I went out flying today with the controller but it is definitely aimed at beginners and not too fast where it goes out of control. Very clever for the money though. I guess over time I will find out if any glitches etc that need fixing
@@flywithmetrevor the spec says 6m/s in normal mode which I assume is the mode it is in for active track, so 13.4m/h (so 21.6km/h). It can do much faster in the other modes though. 25km/h may be possible with wind assistance.
@@TrailBikeMike It definitely felt a lot slower than the Mini 3 Pro for example. It is however much easier to track in the sky with your eyes as it moves slower up in the air lol. However the downfall is that it must be a bit closer for line of sight etc as I can imagine it disappearing visually all to easy : )

I think if there a lots of obstacles if you set it to flat/medium height and then choose your distance from you it should go through most places as it should take the same route you did. Obvioysly if there are dogs or animals choose high but it is much more likely to hit or bounce into branches as it’s above the area you walked through lol. More to come and not just on the NEO

Thank you for this video. While in direction tracking, can you change the direction using the phone? If so, can we use Direction tracking all the time instead of switching between direction track and follow me, and not stop the recording.
Hi @ericks17 I really appreciate you watching and commenting. You can change the setting on the phone but each time you do, it stops recording and then starts again in the new setting for example switching from say follow to dronie etc. I am hoping DJI fix this in a future update as it would be great to have continuity between options. I think initially they are thinking people will use the NEO for short clips and then move on to the next one but it would be nice to have the option to change whilst filming continuous.
Thank you, no the only thing I did in the settings was minus 2 for image sharpness but that’s it as I wanted to see and show everyone what the standard image looks like which can obviously be improved using LUTS etc.

Did you need to do a DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) as your drone camera was technically collecting personal data on “uninvolved” members of the public all of whom (if asked) may not have been happy to be recorded for RUclips?

Unfortunately whilst out in a public place it is allowed to film as it would be impossible to stop every person, car and dogs etc to ask. To be honest there are always people in the park filming, vlogging, video calling etc all the time. I did go first thing in the morning so that there wouldn’t be any children playing in the park etc although I was surprised just how many dog walkers there were that early on lol.
@@flywithmetrevorThanks Trevor! Its’s reassuring that it is not an issue. I suppose the real acid test is whether there is an expectation of privacy. With it being a public place I guess that fortunately there usually no such expectation. It was great to see that the dog walkers and other park users seemed completely happy to be near a low flying drone. An interesting exercise. Carry on the good work. 👍
@@Tonydronie200 Hi Tony, Yes I remember when I first used to fly and I would sit about for hours until nobody about but to be honest I didn’t expect anyone in the park as it was very early in the morning. You are absolutely right though nobody even paid attention to it other than the 2 Jehovah’s Witnesses who were fascinated with it lol. It was brilliant as the dogs didn’t even look at it and completely ignored it. I did make sure it was set to high in follow mode so that it was well above people and again if you look at the man with the dogs who was looking down at his phone screen, he didn’t even raise an eyebrow lol.

@@akmalrcchannel1729 Hi, thank you for watching and commenting. Great question and the answer is I am not entirely sure if I am honest as I changed the Minus 1 setting for Sharpness on the phone using the DJI Fly App when it was connected to the controller. When I recorded this video I was just using the phone as a backup in case I need to take manual control in an emergency which I only needed to do when the drone was stuck hovering when it was in front of the leaves. I am assuming it kept the setting but other than this, it is the standard footage the drone produces. I do know that on the brighter scenes it looks like the camera has difficulty keeping detail so seems like it prefers it when it’s not ultra bright but I am assuming it can be adjusted when using the app on the controller. I will be experimenting more with this for you all don’t worry ; ) The thing we all have to remember is the price, and wow what a price for what you get : )
@@flywithmetrevorThe DJI Mic2 when connected by Bluetooth will not record internally to the transmitter. If you have set-up the Mic2 so that it will record internally (by using the settings on a Mic2 receiver), the internal recording will switch-off when linked by Bluetooth. I assume that this maybe patent related functionality perhaps?
@@hamradioop5777 Hi, thanks for the advice. Funnily enough when I retrieved the footage from the NEO it did have the audio files on there although not brilliant sound quality. I just assumed that it would show an indication on the mic icon on the fly app that it was receiving lol. I had it connected to Bluetooth directly to the phone. Next time I might try just speaking directly into the phone although using the seperate audio through the editing suite is probably just as easy : )
Hello from Yorkshire to Dubai : ) To be honest I am not sure although I have seen some video’s on RUclips where some people have already been trying to adapt or enlarge the battery to increase flight time. I have also seen another video showing how many Oreo’s yes Oreo’s the DJI Neo can carry which is obviously a good guide as to how much extra weight can be added before it won’t fly lol. I think it was only about 4 or 5 Oreo’s though LOL and then it just landed as it was too much extra weight for it. I am not sure how much an Oreo weighs lol
It is very crisp footage you have and of course the DJI Mic2 is recording your voice well. You said the Mic2 wasn't recording but was it actually? You can still hear the some of the whirring so were you using DJI Fly which should have taken out some of the whirring. but I imagine if you use Davinci Resolve you can further remove it in post. Did you do that at all? It was good to see it fly t ahead of you, something many creators would like to see. Indeedthat aspect would be marvellous to folk like me who don't have any help and have to do everything themselves.
Hi Nikki, It did record but it sounded too synthetic so I edited the audio from my DJI Pocket 2 and blocked out most of the sound from the drone. I left it like that as any stronger where the noise was completely drowned out it sounded too synthetic so I found this balance workable without the noise of the drone becoming unbearable for viewers : )

I tried the mic and it doesn’t sound very good as it’s too synthetic. I think it’s best to either use the phone mic directly or on a separate one and then adjust the audio to suit. it is clever that it can do it internally but it’s not very good quality but still clever that it does it at the very least lol

Great question and that’s exactly why I had it set to follow with the far and high settings as I knew i would be passing dog walkers/runners etc in the park. It was a great test not only for how much continuous footage you can get from one batter but also how people react and in particular dogs/animals etc. They were not even bothered by it and the dogs didn’t pay any attention to the drone which is great. If I was on my own and nobody else was around you are right that it would be better set for flat/follow but I wanted it to be above head height just in case a dog decided to try and jump up. My cat at home doesn’t like the sound though LOL so I can confirm cats don’t like the NEO lol
The moment anybody hear this in a fairly crowded area the word “drone” Will set off automatically. Snowflakes will run to the hills crying Karen’s will attempt to shout you down ahhhhh not for me in a public area

I was expecting some negativity but nobody was bothered by it at all. I am sure after many videos this may change as it was only a small sample but I was pleased with the dogs not reacting. I just watched your Hover X1 video and again noticed your dogs weren’t remotely interested even whilst flying lower than I did on this particular video : ) I have been lucky with Karen’s or Kens for the last 2 years and haven’t really had any issues but I am sure I will at some point lol. I do fly carefully and when it’s quiet to help though

At 20:43 how you manually land the drone when it is not connected to smartphone or remote and is in autonomous mode and can't see you to land ? ,How would you make it land ????
I had it connected to my phone so just clicked manual control to bring it down under the branch and then back to follow mode when it was clear of the tree lol. I will be having a go at the voice control on a future video and putting this and various other drones through their paces lol
@@flywithmetrevor got it thanks, but it means if drone is not connected to phone, and if it can't see you like in this scenario it can't land ???? ,It will remain there because it can't follow you as leaves/obstruction are there.....till battery runs out.
@@BhupenderSingh-mm2rk I have just got back from filming again now and did exactly what you said and didn’t use the controller or app, just flew with the drone. When it lost its subject, my son who was running it lands. It hovered for a short moment whilst it attempted to re-find the subject and then when it couldn’t it landed rather than hover. I am assuming over time and with future updates you will be able to program or choose what you would like the drone to do if it loses you. At least I hope they do this lol
@@flywithmetrevor that is a problem because if it can't find and it is hovering over water or some cliff, it will go down and you will lose it, IT HAPPENED TO SOME RUclipsRS WHILE they were connected with phone,when it somehow loses connection with phone like when you try to fly little high or little far and if it loses connection it will land doesn't matter what's beneath it.
@@BhupenderSingh-mm2rk Thanks. I think if you are close to the drone using the simple operation it should be fine. I believe it is if you try to fly the drone like a normal drone using the phone that can cause problems with distance as it’s only a short range rather than the long range were all used to using a normal controller

It’s not quite as good quality as something like the Mini 3 Pro or Mini 4 Pro for example but still a great little starter drone for people. I have been out filming multiple videos with it today. LOL no not yet although something does happen in the video ; ) I thought it was worth a punt at £169. The price point will make this ultra popular for the masses and is a good way to get into droning. It might not be for everyone but definitely worth it for the occasional B roll shots etc and probably good enough for youtube, quality wise and perhaps VLOGs etc.

@@DionProbo Thanks Jack I appreciate you watching and commenting. This is the raw footage that was taken and edited using LumaFusion. The only setting I changed on the Neo was sharpness down to minus 1 but I will probably increase this to minus 2 in future. I hope this helps. I do know that lighting is a major factor as to how good the Neo looks. Luckily the Neo was set to high which means its pointing down to the subject which was me in this case so it doesn’t get direct sunlight which then bleaches the image. The tree’s helped a lot too but when I was in the darkest areas of the park you can, if you look closely see image noise so it’s finding the right balance that works best. It’s a clever little drone for the money and perfect for vlogging and beginners to drones too : )

I bought this as well the flight time is based on how good the given day environment is, if its windy it gives less time. I seems to gettin about 10 mins if you out flight still at one place it gives even less time, the more it keep moving the better time

That’s the problem with RUclips videos. You always wish you had done this, added that etc when your editing LOL. It’s a nice simple video with me waffling on about various things whilst seeing how long the battery lasts in a real environment as well as how much continuous footage it does with a single battery. It was a lot more than I thought it would be plus the memory didn’t get full either with the onboard memory which is quite good. See you again soon : )
Good video - thanks for doing it. I bought mine to add another view when mountain biking. Your video gives me confidence that it will be able to follow me through trees on slower up hill and some flat areas - although I’m sure it won’t keep up on the downhills. I’ll be trying it at the weekend. I’ll use my GoPro chest mounted at the same time so I can take the audio from that.

Yes I must admit it felt a lot slower when I went out flying today with the controller but it is definitely aimed at beginners and not too fast where it goes out of control. Very clever for the money though. I guess over time I will find out if any glitches etc that need fixing
@@flywithmetrevor the spec says 6m/s in normal mode which I assume is the mode it is in for active track, so 13.4m/h (so 21.6km/h). It can do much faster in the other modes though. 25km/h may be possible with wind assistance.
@@TrailBikeMike It definitely felt a lot slower than the Mini 3 Pro for example. It is however much easier to track in the sky with your eyes as it moves slower up in the air lol. However the downfall is that it must be a bit closer for line of sight etc as I can imagine it disappearing visually all to easy : )

I think if there a lots of obstacles if you set it to flat/medium height and then choose your distance from you it should go through most places as it should take the same route you did. Obvioysly if there are dogs or animals choose high but it is much more likely to hit or bounce into branches as it’s above the area you walked through lol. More to come and not just on the NEO

Thank you for this video. While in direction tracking, can you change the direction using the phone? If so, can we use Direction tracking all the time instead of switching between direction track and follow me, and not stop the recording.
Hi @ericks17 I really appreciate you watching and commenting. You can change the setting on the phone but each time you do, it stops recording and then starts again in the new setting for example switching from say follow to dronie etc. I am hoping DJI fix this in a future update as it would be great to have continuity between options. I think initially they are thinking people will use the NEO for short clips and then move on to the next one but it would be nice to have the option to change whilst filming continuous.

Thank you, no the only thing I did in the settings was minus 2 for image sharpness but that’s it as I wanted to see and show everyone what the standard image looks like which can obviously be improved using LUTS etc.

Did you need to do a DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) as your drone camera was technically collecting personal data on “uninvolved” members of the public all of whom (if asked) may not have been happy to be recorded for RUclips?

Unfortunately whilst out in a public place it is allowed to film as it would be impossible to stop every person, car and dogs etc to ask. To be honest there are always people in the park filming, vlogging, video calling etc all the time. I did go first thing in the morning so that there wouldn’t be any children playing in the park etc although I was surprised just how many dog walkers there were that early on lol.

With it being a public place I guess that fortunately there usually no such expectation. It was great to see that the dog walkers and other park users seemed completely happy to be near a low flying drone. An interesting exercise. Carry on the good work. 👍

You are absolutely right though nobody even paid attention to it other than the 2 Jehovah’s Witnesses who were fascinated with it lol. It was brilliant as the dogs didn’t even look at it and completely ignored it. I did make sure it was set to high in follow mode so that it was well above people and again if you look at the man with the dogs who was looking down at his phone screen, he didn’t even raise an eyebrow lol.

Great question and the answer is I am not entirely sure if I am honest as I changed the Minus 1 setting for Sharpness on the phone using the DJI Fly App when it was connected to the controller. When I recorded this video I was just using the phone as a backup in case I need to take manual control in an emergency which I only needed to do when the drone was stuck hovering when it was in front of the leaves. I am assuming it kept the setting but other than this, it is the standard footage the drone produces. I do know that on the brighter scenes it looks like the camera has difficulty keeping detail so seems like it prefers it when it’s not ultra bright but I am assuming it can be adjusted when using the app on the controller. I will be experimenting more with this for you all don’t worry ; ) The thing we all have to remember is the price, and wow what a price for what you get : )
@@flywithmetrevorThe DJI Mic2 when connected by Bluetooth will not record internally to the transmitter. If you have set-up the Mic2 so that it will record internally (by using the settings on a Mic2 receiver), the internal recording will switch-off when linked by Bluetooth. I assume that this maybe patent related functionality perhaps?
@@hamradioop5777 Hi, thanks for the advice. Funnily enough when I retrieved the footage from the NEO it did have the audio files on there although not brilliant sound quality. I just assumed that it would show an indication on the mic icon on the fly app that it was receiving lol. I had it connected to Bluetooth directly to the phone. Next time I might try just speaking directly into the phone although using the seperate audio through the editing suite is probably just as easy : )

Hello from Yorkshire to Dubai : ) To be honest I am not sure although I have seen some video’s on RUclips where some people have already been trying to adapt or enlarge the battery to increase flight time. I have also seen another video showing how many Oreo’s yes Oreo’s the DJI Neo can carry which is obviously a good guide as to how much extra weight can be added before it won’t fly lol. I think it was only about 4 or 5 Oreo’s though LOL and then it just landed as it was too much extra weight for it. I am not sure how much an Oreo weighs lol
It is very crisp footage you have and of course the DJI Mic2 is recording your voice well. You said the Mic2 wasn't recording but was it actually? You can still hear the some of the whirring so were you using DJI Fly which should have taken out some of the whirring. but I imagine if you use Davinci Resolve you can further remove it in post. Did you do that at all? It was good to see it fly t ahead of you, something many creators would like to see. Indeedthat aspect would be marvellous to folk like me who don't have any help and have to do everything themselves.
Hi Nikki, It did record but it sounded too synthetic so I edited the audio from my DJI Pocket 2 and blocked out most of the sound from the drone. I left it like that as any stronger where the noise was completely drowned out it sounded too synthetic so I found this balance workable without the noise of the drone becoming unbearable for viewers : )
@@flywithmetrevor The filtering was just right tbh. So you not only have a good eye, you have a good ear !

I tried the mic and it doesn’t sound very good as it’s too synthetic. I think it’s best to either use the phone mic directly or on a separate one and then adjust the audio to suit. it is clever that it can do it internally but it’s not very good quality but still clever that it does it at the very least lol
you should hire out that personal fan for a bob or two a minute

Great question and that’s exactly why I had it set to follow with the far and high settings as I knew i would be passing dog walkers/runners etc in the park. It was a great test not only for how much continuous footage you can get from one batter but also how people react and in particular dogs/animals etc. They were not even bothered by it and the dogs didn’t pay any attention to the drone which is great. If I was on my own and nobody else was around you are right that it would be better set for flat/follow but I wanted it to be above head height just in case a dog decided to try and jump up. My cat at home doesn’t like the sound though LOL so I can confirm cats don’t like the NEO lol

I was expecting some negativity but nobody was bothered by it at all. I am sure after many videos this may change as it was only a small sample but I was pleased with the dogs not reacting. I just watched your Hover X1 video and again noticed your dogs weren’t remotely interested even whilst flying lower than I did on this particular video : ) I have been lucky with Karen’s or Kens for the last 2 years and haven’t really had any issues but I am sure I will at some point lol. I do fly carefully and when it’s quiet to help though

At 20:43 how you manually land the drone when it is not connected to smartphone or remote and is in autonomous mode and can't see you to land ? ,How would you make it land ????
I had it connected to my phone so just clicked manual control to bring it down under the branch and then back to follow mode when it was clear of the tree lol. I will be having a go at the voice control on a future video and putting this and various other drones through their paces lol

@@BhupenderSingh-mm2rk I have just got back from filming again now and did exactly what you said and didn’t use the controller or app, just flew with the drone. When it lost its subject, my son who was running it lands. It hovered for a short moment whilst it attempted to re-find the subject and then when it couldn’t it landed rather than hover. I am assuming over time and with future updates you will be able to program or choose what you would like the drone to do if it loses you. At least I hope they do this lol
@@flywithmetrevor that is a problem because if it can't find and it is hovering over water or some cliff, it will go down and you will lose it, IT HAPPENED TO SOME RUclipsRS WHILE they were connected with phone,when it somehow loses connection with phone like when you try to fly little high or little far and if it loses connection it will land doesn't matter what's beneath it.

I believe it is if you try to fly the drone like a normal drone using the phone that can cause problems with distance as it’s only a short range rather than the long range were all used to using a normal controller
