True... it's actually great to see that this level of passion, dedication and skilled crafts are being maintained and encouraged to continue at businesses like these. Very important conservation work that they undertake. This is automotive history they are preserving, for future generations
I think the proper interior trimmers work goes underappreciated in the online car community space, especially RUclips, this should help them get the recognition they deserve, for probably the most skilled and hardest to achieve perfection element of any car which is a fine interior.
And how does one become that skilled? I would love to work in such a place but in sales or marketing. I don’t have the dexterity or patience for fiddling things.
Craig is worth every penny you pay him. The leather on my Vauxhall Insignia was a £4500.00 option, the leather in this car makes it look like my car seats are made of lidl bin liners. I know your cars leather is a different price point, and, in my view worth every penny. Superb job, it just looks so gorgeous.
I'm a car guy, former vehicle developer for GM's sporty cars, and also for Lexus, I restore a car each year, so I appreciate the metal bits of vehicle generally. However that's changed as I embarked on a project to reupholster a vehicle myself in leather - learning the ins and outs of this tricky and unforgiving material, buying my first sewing machine, essentially interviewing upholstery shop owners, etc. So, it is with this recent development in mind that I nominate Craig as the true hero of the shop on many of your projects. Interior restoration is the art, the driver experience that must be right. Driver and passenger spend very little time looking at the exterior, compared to having the interior to look at 100% of the time they are interacting with the vehicle. Bravo for putting this out, and for the love of craft, Craig.
What was charged for Craig's wonderful work sounds an absolute bargain, his brilliant craftsmanship will last a lifetime and is a reflection of Tyrrell's Classic Workshop's quality services.
Exactly what I thought !! This is not expensive enough for this incredible work....You can count one one hand the people in the world who can do this kind of magic so perfectly....
I could imagine that Craig is kind of working for himself,as he might be not an "real" employe in the whole shop.He pays maybe an amount of money to Iian for the "Place in the Shop" he is working at.
Very much how I imagine the designers and the people at the factory would have liked to do it back in the day, without having to worry about getting through sales volumes and back orders. There's something to be said for totally original cars and their preservation, but I do love when we get to see what the original dream was without the real world getting in the way
I don't think that car interiors - either in design or build quality - get enough attention. This is, after all, where you'll be spending most of your time. So it's a real credit to yourselves to show this interior in its standalone episode. The Espada isn't my favourite designed car but the interior is really a work of art. So often (too often) I feel it is the other way around. A real credit to you...
Used to be a coachtrimmer so this brings back some wonderful memories of working on many fine classic and sports cars. Interested to see what was used as wadding for the flutes on the seat faces, as technology has improved over time and it takes a true craftsman to accurately pad these out.
Craigs workmanship is just sublime. We’ve just got to hope craftsman like him will still be in the trade in years to come. Love watching these videos and please keep them coming.
I admire the top drawer craftmanship. I also admire the sheer confidence of Craig, to take the car of a Lamborghini historian and KNOW he can produce a full leather interior to a higher standard than factory. Truly admirable.
“Launch it into the car”?! What on earth sort of carpet cannon is being employed over there?! LOLZ. Wonderful video once again Mr. Tyrrell! Thank you for sharing and impeccable interior work on that Espada by your craftsman Craig!!!!!
The quality/ cost of the Espada interior is an absolute bargain. There are some very lucky people in this world and it’s lovely to see people like Craig with so much skill and attention to detail. Lovely job.
This was bought at Artcurial Retromobile in Feb 2023 I think ? I remember looking at it. Ghastly oppressive black suede interior. The car is transformed ! Well worth the retrim cost. Bravo !
I can imagine getting the old stuff completely out probably was the worst part of it all. It's good to show off all this work and craftsmanship you often don't get to see, compared to like welding etc.
Thanks for including the details on what the cars cost when made... this history really adds to the presentation... the craft work on the car is superb...
That colour combination of exterior and interior is absolutely glorious. Well done to Craig & the gang plus I guess a salute to the owner willing to cough up the dough for such work.
Wow! What an art...so much patience and attention to detail...and the Espada interior looks stunning-pity we don't haver 'smell-o-vision' the leather smell would be intoxicating
"Old-school gentlemen", too-true and exemplary craftsmen to boot! I was never much of an Espada fan, but each time there is feature on them, I grow more enamoured by these fabulous GT cars and equally of the quality and attention to detail Iain and his crew bring to the task for, which the term "bespoke" is absolutely in tune with the car and its presence. I suppose one must blame Harry Metcalfe and his achingly beautiful Espada engine rebuilds which kicked-off Tyrells Classic Workshop for this, but what a joy to see this kind of content and to see the modesty of people like Craig as he works with an overlocker and a lifetime of skill applied to achieve astonishing degrees of perfection. Just an amazing job.
The word "amazing" is overused these days, but this is truly amazing craftsmanship. And thank you Iain and Craig, for showing us the Ultimate level of Interior restoration Nerdism ;)
I know a man who could make the wheeled tool for the seat embossed detail. And the best guys who can get it straight and trued were the leather skiver creators for desks. All old school trades. In fact in going to see a tool maker Stamp and die maker tomorrow who has made leather tools for Bentley, Aston Martin, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Boss etc. It's going to be a great day. Filming it too.
Stunning and superb workmanship. A far cry from 98% of the retrimming I see on classic cars these days, that which I see being done on Rolls-Royce and Bentley being the worst. Flat flutes and no crowns to bolsters seem to be the order of the day, but not do with the fabulous work Craig does. Absolutely brilliant artistry and craftsmanship!
Congratulations Craig for your unbelievable craftsmanship!!! I'm delighted to see the result of your work. How proud you should feel Ian having this kind of master working for you!!!!
A true craftsman is your Craig. So many cars are let down by cheap, poorly finished and plastic interiors. Think the Rolls' of the 80's when they raided the Ford parts bins. Even today's luxury cars do it! When spending all that money, you want to feel that your're sitting in something special. That won't be a problem with this Espada. Thanks for sharing.
Craig. Master craftsman. Continually Craig surprises in his obvious demonstrable delight in delivering what he thought was far above the clients expectation in pursuit of the perfect outcome but actually did better. The only thing you didn't share with us was sitting in the car and inhaling the retrimmed glorious smell. Well done gentlemen.
Craig u r out of control mate, awesome. this man must live on 20 coffees n no sleep per day. Craig reminds me of the old fella that did all the metal work on Harrys Lancia Fulvia. head shaking stuff.
I've been a fan for years now - I dare you to find a more sincere and accurate and passionate channel about automotive beauty and engineering excellence. The cars are stunning and dreamlike - the commentary insightful and realistic. THE best automotive channel on YT!
Such a privilege to be shown artisan craftsmanship at its best. Iain, you and your team just blow my mind with your knowledge, expertise and dedication. I think I’m not alone in saying we always want more. 🏆🥇
11 hides! And it looks exquisite, and must smell gorgeous too. Sometimes it's easy to forget how big the Espada is, and it still looks stunning. Well done, Craig, for superb craftsmanship. Worth every penny. Please keep up the videos, Mr T and lock Craig away in your safe at night.
There's a lot more to interior trimming than you'd think at a cursory glance...and especially in the older cars with what's essentially a bespoke interior. Fascinating stuff. 👍
I own a Lamborgini LM002 ,I got true a heritage from a family member who lived in Germany, unfortunately the car stood years in his garage, I have it stockpiled it know in a friend's garage, to make the car driveble its estimated it would cost a lot( I will not say the amount in euro),what I do know is where to bring it too...the craftsmanship, the knowledge and the honesty of Mr Tyrell and his crew is truly exceptional, thy fore it
It's an honor and privilege to view a true Master's work.

I have LOVED to hear Craig and see his works of art 😍😍😍😍😍
There can't be many people in existence who can trim a car to this level of quality and craftsmanship

Craftsman through and through 😊

That was a magic carpet ride! Thanks a lot for all the work that went into showing the little details that make the big difference in restauration.
Craig and his colleagues are proper 100% craftspeople. Amazing quality.
Craig is looking far more relaxed in front of the camera. He certainly shows a lot of passion for his craft.
When you see the cost of options on supercars today, £25K to £30K for this level of work seems like a steal.
That is the most beautiful interior I have ever seen specially when you consider it a 50 year old car !!!! He is quite the artist. Great job.
Thank you!

Always a treat to sit, have my coffee, and watch a Tyrrell's Classic Workshop, and Harry's Garage episode, on a Sunday!
True, that is a really good way to enjoy a break. I can also recommend Auto shenanigans.
He takes a closer look at a piece of UK each week
Craig truly is a master craftsman. I hope he got a nice bonus, Iain 😊

@@iain_tyrrellOwners had to be seriously rich to buy an Espada. No finance, so you had to have the money to buy it whilst paying over 80% tax.
