I hope when you have completed your home dressed and all, you dont stop filming , i could watch you both for hours with your banta and sympathy towards each other ❤❤
On the kitchen, having built. few myself a few things are important, drawers are more useful the cupboards. Open shelves look great the first week but are massive dist collectors, a more powerful extraction fan is better than almost any kitchen gadget. If you need four power pugs install eight, and two sinks are better than one, Since you have a massive pantry, overhead cupboards should have glass doors so that you can see the plates and glasses without opening them. If you think you need two cutlery drawers, have eight. Have two different lighting systems, "mood lighting for when the guests are around and harsh "Commercial Kitchen" lighting for when you are cleaning up. Stay away from "space saving" cupboard "solutions" you never used them, and they end up full of junk you never use. Air Fryer, convection ovens, and induction cooktops is better than gas. Have a nice fridge in the kitchen, but have two ugly ones in the pantry... Good luck
Excellent advice. I just finished my 4 month kitchen Reno. All lower cabinets were drawers! Even drawers under the sink. Love it. Three lighting levels. Under cabinet. Task upper lights and high up decorator lights It’s amazing! The sink I went 1 huge bowl. Love it. No more trying to wash big sheet pans in a double bowl sink. Cook top was induction electric. Smooth glass is an easy wipe it clean. Double wall ovens have so many features I am still discovering 2 months later. No fussy parts like the old gas cook top. The counter top AND back splash were quartz. No tile grout lines to clean on the back splash. One easy wipe to keep the back splash clean. Love your videos! My spouse and I work exactly as you two do.
Hey, have you considered a prep table, potentially antique, instead of an island. Your kitchen could really take an ornate old piece very well. And it might add a fun layer of visual interest.
On the kitchen, having built afew for myself as well as clients, a few things more are important! ADD pull out drawers for pots and pans, with HEAVY DUTY drawer glides...much easier to pull out to access P@P then digging through cabinets. Install LED Warm White strip lights W/DIFFUSED LENSES, under upper cabinets for casting light on the counters, NOTE to install them at the RECESSED FRONT of the upper cabinets (not along the back/backsplash). So glad your hiring a Kitchen Designer, will save you alot of mistakes and money...trust designer with the overall color scheme of floors, cabinets and paints. Small swatches look much different when enlarged in reality, ask for BIG SAMPLES and look at them in the morning, afternoon and evening lighting. (Don't use fluorescent lighting) Can't wait to see the design, etc. Kee[ up the great work you both are doing, let the LOVE shine through! A Professional Interior Designer in Los Altos, CA USA!!!
I really hate to be picky, but that one piece of coving where the walls are not straight is going to look bad, no matter how much you fill it. You should think about cutting the one piece of coving into 3 or so strips to have more joins, maybe a 1 or 2 degree backcut or each piece? You will then get have the coving following the wall tightly and the face will be tight, then there will be lots of small joints to fill rather than one gaping joint that you have now and it will look flawless after filling and paint. I would also advise you to use a filler rather than a caulk. Filler you can sand and finesse and get nice sharp joins, where caulk tends to get all rounded and horrible, plus even though they say it is sandable, it never is.
This is a genuine offer, I have been on the renovating journey for 11 years, with 7 properties under my belt as we have been trading up our house all this time. I am currently finishing a property in Caerphilly, not far from you, but I am happy to come book a one night hotel and help you guys for 2 days in the new year?
It looks amazing, well worth the effort. The end looks stunning, I've seen people just end with a straight cut and it doesn't come close to your finish. You only know that you have gaps because you fitted it, I guarantee you most houses have it and you don't notice when it's filled and painted. 👌❤️
As old timers at DIY, having done similar coving years ago, without nail guns and lasers, it was really hard.. but we are very impressed with your work, you show commitment and stamina that shines through. Well done.
I look forward to your weekly posts! Louie, you are so smart beyond your years! You 2 work beautifully together & make such a cute couple. Please keep that beautiful stone wall in the kitchen!
The discussion of the kitchen colors was so satisfying! Beautiful choices! I agree that the wood grain distracts from dust. I have a dark brown wood floor with visible grain and dust doesn't show much at all. Can't wait to see the kitchen progress! ❤
I love the in-between choice of the floor, the dark woodgrain, lighter floor. And the kitchen colour is wildly beautiful. I had antique dark kitchens every speck of dust was visible on and lighter what looked like plastic. From marble (stains never go out of marble) to corian work surfaces. One day I realized all the upside cupboards were never used. I put stuff in it that would never come out again. And you already plan a pantry. My next kitchen will be planned for the coming year and will not have high cupboards, only low ones. Just a plank for the daily-used things, like cups and bowls. Now I have a huge dark Persian rug in my kitchen which my cats love to spread their litter on with their floofy feet. I am a messy cook, don't dare to go lighter for that. Somehow your kitchen grows exactly how you use it when you have more kitchens in time. You learn while doing I guess? 😉
Mine is in english. Louis you're amazing and the coving will look just fine by the time its filled and walls are decorated and pictures hung. plummy colour kitchen - lovely the room is so big it can carry it off. it will be lovely to start seeing some colour in the house - the fun part. you're truly a great team together and deserve this wonderful house.
16:50 we love a fingies measurement Every video I find myself thinking how playful, lighthearted, and pretty Milly is and how capable and patient he is (the patience only relevant because of his capability. Not an insult on Milly; an insult on the average capable person, and if anything a compliment to Milly because I doubt he'd be so relaxed if not for her presence) A fella like him needs a lady like her and vice versa. What a lovely couple. You two absolutely deserve each other, and thanks for inviting us in!
Love the videos and watching the Reno developments. Not a fan of the dark floor, having had one, it’s felt like it sucked the room downwards. Which might be a factor to consider when also doing dark cabinetry. Sure you will chose what feels right for you guys tho
Kitchen and bathroom are always the most important rooms to me in a home. When we were moving our requirements were good kitchen and rain shower. Now we can't go back!
WAY TO GO!!! even the boring jobs need to get done and this one looks fantastic! i got to hear you in spainish tho i live in canada and french would have been the second language...i think youtube is having a computer spaz
Evil Kermit 😂 You two are the most entertaining renovation channel i love your banter your so cute together, hope you continue to film after the house is finished.
Old school method for an inside joint on the molding would not be to miter, but to scribe the new to fit tight against the old. Involves transferring the profile at an angle on to the new and cutting with a coping saw held at the angle. Sealant is your friend.
It’s all coming together guys! Stay positive, you’re doing great! I’m looking forward to seeing you both next week, I’m sure the kitchen plans will work well. Ps.. more hugs please, you’ll enjoy yourselves more whilst you’re putting in all that hard work.
i’ve done all this kind of thing before, with my wife, and had to find solutions, and messed up, and cried, and laughed, and when I saw that coving problem on the stairs, by heart sank for you.
Fantastic series! What is the reason for covering the walls in plywood rather than just drywall before you veneer plaster? Is it so that the plaster has a more rigid backing?
I’d recommend installing a pot filler by the hob, something that is really popular in the US but very rare in the UK, makes cooking much easier not lifting heavy pans of water 😂
Snorty time from Louis. Very hard to match up a 90 degree end to a sloped piece, it would have been better to scribe, and cut the back away. Just a learning curve😅
Do you think dark cabinetry in the kitchen will make the kitchen really dark? I love the cream cabinet look. I know it’s predictable but it’s not overpowering. Go and look at houses with different colour kitchens in your area and see the difference. A designer said to me never use too much of a wood look in a room it overpowers.
Definitely go big on your appliances fridge cooker etc people go to small but I think either biggest fridge you can get or if your going for inter-grated do a single tall fridge and single tall freezer individual ones and if possible think about somewhere you can put the fittings for a second dishwasher even if you don’t put one in , in years to come having multiple or large appliances makes sense for gatherings or if you have a large family , and big useful drawers in kitchens rather than a million cupboards because drawers on lower cabinets just makes more sense and the space is more useful.
I wish i had a way to show x mother in law's double wide mobile home that she bought & had to fix up before she & her husbsnd could move into it. It took about 2 1/2 weeks of working like crazy to get it done.
If he had just cut the right end of the moulding at the right angle from face to back it would have blended in to the existing moulding closer and all the back cutting would’ve been unnecessary. And it would use less caulking as well. Still, nicely done.
Don't let McMasion owners get into your head. Oversized appliances are expensive to operate and result in a lot of food waste. Stay with your goal to be as authentic as possible.
I don't know what's going on with the language... seems to be a RUclips glitch. 🙁
I'll let you guys off as this vlog is always great to view the progress. Everything is fine now ❤
Ps I was using pig emojis for your oinks, haha
Working perfectly now❤🎉
I honestly thought this was an intentional prank at first, I'm gutted I switched it off before the Spanish oinks😂
We're back in (English) business 👌
@@BelgraveVilla it seems to be a problem only on my phone. On my laptop it's perfectly fine in English
I love Louis' snorting when he laughed. You two work so well together, and the angles of the coving had to be meticulous.
I hope when you have completed your home dressed and all, you dont stop filming , i could watch you both for hours with your banta and sympathy towards each other ❤❤
I keep telling them they should throw a Tea Party or Ball and film it!

I agree. Drawers are much much much better than cupboards.
Also my two last kitchen one was 150k bespoke beauty, the one after was 9k from Ikea. the ikea drawers were better…
The scene of " was it my fault, no it was mine" made me fall in love with both of you.
It was a lovely gentle moment.

An old shop counter ❤❤

I've been obsessing over that colour for a kitchen for months! I'm so excited to see this come to life! Great choice!!

Ah brilliant, was looking forward to this... Love the gentle humour, you are a very cute couple, and the coving looks beautiful.
I agree with earlier comment drawers are more useful than cupboards open shelves no no dust collectors and quickly become untidy love your videos
Great coving well done xx

The color choices you landed on for paint and floor are quite nice together. I'm picturing the coving staying white. Is that the plan?
So weird, I can toggle between Spanish, Italian and French, but English soundtrack is not an option. Super funky 🤪
Same here
Same , try open video on the phone
😳😱 That reminded me of a Third Year maths lesson! (Yr 9 to you youngsters)
Hi guys. Coving is looking great cant wait for the kitchen Reno ❤
I'm so glad I read the other comments! I thought I had done something weird to my computer that the audio was spanish (I think?)!!
Looks lovely
That dam coving 😂
I know 😭😭
When you are finished, you should film Downton Abbey revisited (2025) - Urban style.... in the Belgrave Villa.
Fantastic series! What is the reason for covering the walls in plywood rather than just drywall before you veneer plaster? Is it so that the plaster has a more rigid backing?
Yay wednesday!:D
😄😄❤️
Coving looks great. It really adds to a room. Here in the US we call it crown molding for some reason.
I like how Louis always says Please when asking Millie to do somerhing 👍
Milly gives me chaotic adhd vibes love it ❤
Love you guys, well done on the coving, looks Fandabydozy 👌
I’d recommend installing a pot filler by the hob, something that is really popular in the US but very rare in the UK, makes cooking much easier not lifting heavy pans of water 😂
Ugly looking things, more plumbing to go wrong and you still have to take the HOT water to a sink??
Omg, Louis' laugh is completely snorts... I couldn't help but laugh at his laugh!
You did wonderful work on the coving
You might want to invest in a coping saw (what it's called in US). It will help melding the corners of the cove.
Yay!! Another video! 👏👏
Must always smile, you both are so lovely 💕🥰. An other step is done. 👍
GB Gingers rock!
Great job guys x
Didn’t you ever say to yourselves who likes coving anyway? Maybe that’s because you have that dedicated commitment and I’m just a lazy arse!
Snorty time from Louis. Very hard to match up a 90 degree end to a sloped piece, it would have been better to scribe, and cut the back away. Just a learning curve😅
It might be boring now but will be sensation in the end ❤
In the USA we say, “ Buckle-Up”. 🤓
Find the angle, half it and cut each piece that angle so they meet up correctly and the profile matches

Get a skilsaw dust bag attachment to collect the sawdust.

It's in a foreign language French or Spanish ????
I cannot understand this as it's in French! 😅
* update all good now. One sound 🐷 🐷 🐷 😅
This is on spanish and French.... what's going on????
Coving looks good. Is any of the heating working? You look cold!
Do you have heating set up in there yet? You both look frozen ❤
It’s gone back to English now thank you 😅
If he had just cut the right end of the moulding at the right angle from face to back it would have blended in to the existing moulding closer and all the back cutting would’ve been unnecessary. And it would use less caulking as well. Still, nicely done.

No, it's a new thing from YT: automatic audio translation by AI to the language of the country you're watching from.

Omg did you say "see you next Tuesday "😂
We wanna hear you talk danish!!😂
I decided to do Spanish, French and Italian tonight. Danish next time 😂
English please!
wont let me listen in english either ... sad times

At least give us subtitles, my 1984 A Level French is too rusty to understand more than the odd word.
@@aloonatic8594me too. French or Italian…
Louis. Pencils go behind your ear 😉
Clic the settings button in the video and switch language to English
What is your opinion of the Ryobi tools that you use?
Well done 😊
Do you have a brighter color to contrast the dark with the walls?
Hmm - I only get French, Italian or Spanish language options! No english audio track
WHAAT?? I don't speak any of those languages
@@BelgraveVilla Working again now :)
