Tomorrow in the US is Thanksgiving Day. I'm thankful for Billy and his Petherick's channel and for introducing me to some of my favorite RUclipsrs: Doing It Ourselves (Michael), Mucky Mansion (Sadie and Stan), Chateau Life (Phil), Life of Ryan, The Moon's and Sean's World. From America to France: Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes! Their videos are quite enjoyable, great learning experience, and a great way to focus on more interesting things than our political chaos in the US!
Hello Billy and Yanis. Thanks for explaining your plans. I needed this today. I am sitting here alone waiting for a phone call telling me my darling daddy has passed away. It’s very hard but your video helped. Crack On!
Billy works so hard. Happy Thanksgiving to all the Petherick family including all the friends and workers we have met through this family.. I look forward to every episode.
Yes! To the oak panels above the bookcases! That will continue the theme perfectly. You must be so pleased to be at this stage to see things falling into place just the way you planned! 👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️
The cabinetry is going to look fabulous ! You have an eye for design Billy, it amazes me that you envision all of this! Your family is so talented. Happy Thanksgiving from the us, so grateful for you all!
Wow! The oak panels look beautiful, Billy! The library is really taking shape, and you are still excited about it! That laser tool you have is a gem! Love that Yanis is enjoying the library already! Love from Pennsylvania, USA💕🌷🐻
Billy & Yanis, I see you two as the engine that keeps driving this enormous resurrection project forward because of the never ending enthusiasm you both bring to every single day! Everyone involved along the way will certainly be able to look back on the magnificent job they have done bringing new life to this glorious building, but you two…this is your legacy! 🙌 Yanis, it is so wonderful to see how well you have mastered English in this past year and all of the skills you’ve learnt in your job…you deserve to be very proud of all you have accomplished, you are an amazing young man! 🫶 Billy, one thing you never have to apologise for is the quality of these clips because each and every one is a feast for the eyes! Every day keeps getting better and better and I can’t get here quick enough to see the next episode! 😉👌
That library it’s gonna look stunning this whole convent. It’s gonna be the best looking building you are definitely doing a beautiful work and you have a fantastic imagination
Same thing for me. It's a pleasure to see them and follow the progress each day. All these owners of Chateau seems to knows each other's. One day, they will organize a big party to celebrate their renovations! 🎉
The library is going to look fantastic!! I so look forward to watching it come together. ❤ As an aside, damask is a style of weave (reversible pattern) and silk is a fiber, so you can have silk damask, polyester damask, etc. And you can have silk satin, silk moire, knit silk, etc. Either way, damask backing will look lovely.
The library's going to be wonderfully finished as you want, Billy. On the plasterboard walls above the oak, you may hang a collection of nice pictures, all around the library groundfloor.
You're doing a fantastic job getting the library to fit into this room properly! It's finally starting to take shape. If it's more cost effective, I think adding plasterboard above the bookcases would be totally fine with some beautiful coving at the top. But if you really want more oak panels above the bookcases, I support that too. I'm really glad you're changing the fabric out with something more bold. Red damask sounds lovely. 😍👏👍🍺
I can't wait until you start filling the library with books. 😊 Yesterday and today were a tease with Yanis reading. I'm sure that you are going to get beautiful, amazing books! Buying the books, organizing them, and, of course, reading them will be such fun😊
Regarding above the book cases and panelling - I suggest you could tie everything together with a large piece of trim in the neo-classical style. (Think coving but not actually touching the ceiling. This would create (or support) a shelf that runs around the room. On the shelf you could put knick-knacks and small statues or busts, vases or whatever else you find in antique stores. Alternatively, a lower profile moulding could be used and the space above the bookcases used for paintings. Although, not to the same scale as the Library, my fraternity house's dining room (built 1896) had 7-foot high panelling and 10-foot high ceilings. The space above the painting was filled with class photographs from past decades. I don't imagine you can find group photos of nuns but a unifying theme to the artwork, each lit with a directed spot, could look nice.
If you’re willing to spend extra money on panelling above the bookcases, you could opt to instead have wainscoting panels made for the entire room (including the window recesses), at the same height as the cases then wallboard the top of the wainscoting.
Billy,Yanis my loves. The library is continuing to look forward to the completion. Your patience and dedication is remarkable. Until tomorrow. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🌹🙏😇👍🌈🕊🌞🇺🇸❤️ Happy thanksgiving 🦃🍽🍁🍾🥂
Some push-to-open cupboards hidden behind the new oak panels would make for amazing storage of artefacts, oddments, tech gear, old books for display rotation (keeps them from being destroyed by heat and light on the shelves), excess dining ware and so on! It is going to look amazing!
Billy you natural born architect and designer. The convent will be stunning when you finish. Billy when you have completed this beauty, you will have to go looking for the next gem and bring that back to life.. what will all of us viewers do with our time without you to entertain us.😊
I am from New Hampshire in the US. I wholeheartedly enjoy watching you transform this amazing historical structure!! I find all of you to be considerate, excellent, knowledgeable hard workers. I’ve looked at other videos, but none are as pleasurable as yours. I look everyday to watch another video. Crack On!!
3000 from 500,000 !!! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹 🏵 Billy is eyecandy Gorgeousness. it's thanksgiving whatever, here in USA. since 2020, i'm estranged from my mum, bro, & sis over their love of Trump !!! though thankfulness i have the Pethericks in my life every day. there is tremendous goodness out there, and i wish i can move to Ernée. in America, books are being banned, libraries closed, and a war against The Department of Education. though, in Ernée, you are celebrating books and a library. thank you, Yanis and Billy. you have me crying here.😢
I know you want to put oak panels on top of the book cases, but what about colour matching the red damask to a red paint and just using a medium large oak casing around the top of the boxes. If the ceiling is going to be white the red will contrast sharply with the ceiling and will make the room look taller. I think it would look sharp in there. In the end you choose of course but could save a few euros. 😊
I am not trying to design for you however have you seen the Topline Epoxy chips blend concrete paint flakes in the colour Tenton. It would run nicely into the hardwood floors. Again you may save a few euros.
Billy, are you planning on putting artwork in the library? If you put really nice (and expensive) oak paneling above the cabinets, hanging artwork would hide the oak. Plasterboard it, find some lovely landscapes or even old photography of the area, and place them above the cabinets.
Considering none of the walls are 100% square, you're doing an amazing job. I'd have torn my hair out half way around the room! That laser level is such a nifty piece of technology. The ghosts of builders through the centuries are probably swearing a blue streak! Rather than a big panel above the cases, what about a carved framing straight across the top to separate the shelving from the drywall? Maybe a vine and leaves raised relief frame?
Billy, rather than more custom oak paneling for the walls above the bookcases, consider replicating the style of the paneling on the plasterboard walls with fiberglass moldings. When painted to match the walls, one can't tell that it is fiberglass and not wood. I think it would give you the finished look you want, visually tying the walls to the bookcases, and not be as expensive or as dark and heavy looking as wood paneling. Happy Thanksgiving to all Billy's viewers in the US!
5:55 window would be a lovely place for a nice built in sitting bench with a bit of storage in it, flanked on either side with reading lights, couple of nice pillows to lean back against and read.
Billy, I would just put plasterboard above the shelves & paint it to blend with the fabric you’re using. Make prints from your book of chateaus framed in matching oak. That would give you the richness you’re looking for. Kinda of the reverse of your shelves.
With you putting insulation on the outside wall. But the fact that you don't put insulation behind the book cases. Mean they will cold surface in a warm room . This will leave to condensation to the wood and books. Giving a musty smell to the library.
Are you going to put a moisture barrier, like a sheet of plastic or a specially treated paint, applied to the wall behind Library cabinets to protect Library cabinets ? Don`t forget you need to protect the books too. moisture kills books.
@@ThePethericks Bravo pour l'isolation comme vous l'avez fait dans les autres pièces, cependant la bibliothèque a l'air plutôt l'air défraichie d'apparence.
Yanis we need a book report tomorrow did you finish the book? This is so fitting in the library. Billy you have some classicical books for sure. See you tomorrow.
I have an idea!!!! You could have tromp l'ouei work above the bookcases showing old French plates, still life, books etc. You could really have fun with it. I'm sure there are art students wanting the practice out there.
Billy…kindly spend a few minutes describing how the library cabinets will be incorporated into the finished walls covering the stud work. Will the drywall be plastered or covered with wood paneling? Will the cabinet face frames be flush with the finished wall surfaces? How will you refinish the cabinet faces and doors (Osmo coating, rose gold wax, etc,?). Do you plan to have a seating area in the middle where the scaffolding is currently situated? This will give your viewers something to look forward to as the library comes to fruition. Thanks
Billy…. If there is a space above the new paneling above the cabinets and shelves, consider installing an entablature (architrave, frieze and cornice….in oak of course!). With a room of that height of 16’, the entablature height would be about 2’-0” (10” cornice, 7” frieze and 7” architrave). I recall you had hundreds of pieces of trim and expect that some of that trim came from an entablature at the ceiling wall intersection.
Of course, it’s your vision so do what you think is best. But putting the paneling above the bookcases may make the room a bit dark, especially on dark and rainy days. I know there are lots of windows, and it’s a big room, but the plasterboard would break up all that wood. Just a thought. From dark and dreary Ohio.
Hi Billy, you may said this but my old brain may have forgotten. Are you putting in window seat under the windows I can imagine curling up with a book there looking out of the window 😊

That way it's not all wood, which could be rather dark, and it showcases your brother's talent. What do you think?
Couple questions. 1. Can you install those bookcases before completing the floor? 2. How will you restore the bookcase/wall panels wood? Congratulations on the solid structure you are creating behind everything. It actually looks marvelous.
Billy.....I can't remember if you said if you were going to insulate the outside walls? I think you did mention it, but I don't remember the answer. You are doing an outstanding job....well done!!
