Your Grand Parent in-laws are a reflection of a better world, respectful, humble and modest, reminds me of my father, would wear a suit and tie just to go to the shops. When this generation finally departs the world will be a poorer place without them.
73 to 79 fords were always the go-to for me. I’ve had probably 40 of them over the years. I didn’t always drive them, but when it came to farming I may have had 4 or 5 in the field at any given time. You just couldn’t kill them. Later on I found that you could always trade one for any other vehicle because everybody else wanted one as much as I did.
I have a 77, was a life long dream to have a truck like my dad had when I was growing up. I was lucky enough to find a Nevada transplant rust free truck up here in Minnesota.
You were lucky to marry into such a seemingly warm family. Take care of it because i would think all eyes will be on that heirloom they all built so many childhood memories with. Youll honor the new fam by passing it down again and remembering how special it is that they like you enough to allow the new hire to use the forklift. Blessed for sure.
Man Dylan, this video hit close to home for me. In January of 2020 we lost our Papa at age 93. In May of 2020, I was able to purchase his triple blue, all original 68,000 mile 1981 Chevrolet Silverado. Since then we have restored it back to its formal glory, headache rack and all. Grandma was able to see it afterwards and she passed shortly after. They are both with our LORD and Savior forever. What you've done here for your wife's family is straight up awesome. God bless you brother. The truck looks great! Ephesians 2:8
How I know this is my favorite Dylan Mccool video? Well typically I find myself skipping through bits of videos ready to see the final result but my southern ass cant get enough of the stories from the family and the truck itself
Absolutely loved how much the family loves that sweet old gal! Nice to see they not only were great caretakers for her but also want her kept in the family!
I’ve had many trucks over the years, my first two trucks being a 72 Ford F100 & a 79 Ford F150 . Brings back some fond memories. I know you’re a Mopar guy but thanks for sharing the Ford Series. I guess Josh (sleeperdude) is rubbing off on you a little bit 😂. Enjoying your channel! Many thanks to the family for sharing their stories of the 77 Ford 4x4.
My dad had a 77 or 78 F-150 red and white paint with an all red interior. Your pov of driving brought me back to being 4 or 5 sitting on my dads lap driving up and down the gravel driveway. He died back in 95. I miss them and that truck. My brother and I are always looking for a truck like our dad’s.
On the starting issue. Sometimes the neutral safety switch is out of adjustment. Usually just pull up on the gear selector into park and hold it and your switch will work. Or put it in neutral to start.
I had a 76 f150 back in the early 80's. I miss that truck. Rust free! Gave it to my daddy, he drove it a few more years, and the rearend went out. He sold it to a young kid for $50 dollars. Mine didn't look near this pretty, but I loved it.
I love the commentary from the family members and there memories of the truck,im such a softy but it made feel good to hear them talk about the ole truck.
I got the 78 f150 ranger when I was 13 and me and my dad restored it with a built 429 and we painted it hemi orange and it looked sharp because I had all the original chrome, it took 3 years to restore just in time for my driver's license. I got to dive it 3 months and our garage caught fire and took the truck with it😭 but that was back in the late 90s and the one thing that I still have is the knowledge my dad taught me because he was ap body man/mechanic as a profession and especially the memories 😊
Loved the combo of documentary style interview and wrenching on the truck. Excellent editing and story telling - this was really good - congrats on the truck and family experience.
Wow, Dylan, I really truly hope that this truck stays in the family and doesn't get sold to a different family. It should stay in the family until it cannot work anymore and it has to be retired forever. Because this truck has such a cool story. And I hope the story keeps going.
Dentside Fords will always be my favorite trucks. My family has had many of them over the years and they are very hard to kill and good lookin too. Very well preserved truck and im glad to see it come back to life
Awesome truck revival! But, that’s second to all the heartfelt testimony by the family. Truly, a priceless story. Thanks for giving The Goose back its wings and letting it fly once again.
My fondness memories of Ford trucks has to be the old dent side 75 4x4 390 that my uncle owned back in the day.Old Brown what a truck she was🫡Fords are the most legendary trucks for many reasons! You just can't beat em🤠!Great truck Great Story Great content Dylan💯
Dylan, thank you for including the grandparent interview. I see so much of Harold in your wife! You cant beat genetics. Thanks for the content brother.
The "self interviews" of your wife's family members adds to the story and connection of this truck. It's almost like you're watching a mini documentary, so well done.
Absolutely my favorite vehicle ever made. Grew up riding in a retired Forest Service 1974 100 and a 1977 F150 my grandfather bought brand new. So many memories in these guys. I own 3 myself right now. Can't say enough good about em.
These are my favorite models and love one with stroke 351 Windsor ,lifted four linked on 36max four drivability and auto with over drive, getting older and winches and lockers be my dream build or bronco because of kids have had many just lost do to bad things and lot freinds had them growing up and have uncles that were full Mopar and one ant having Mach 1 with less 50,000 miles Till today I love my Mopar but own more ford trucks and mustang then others even though big vw fan also fan of all cars as iam now in my 40s but done so much with those old ford's can't but love them.
Dad bought a new 390 powered, automatic F250 2WD in 1973.... That thing was an absolute BEAST. And he always ran Co-Op Grip Spurs or Buckshot Mudders on the rear, LOL
Great truck , nice to hear the storys from start through the generations , a true family heirloom , may the chrome stay bright, engine keep humming, and the wheels keep turning 🙏, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
what a nice old Rig, thank you for getting her running for the family, it's very obvious how much they love that old girl. I know it's not always possible, but hearing the stories of her past was very nice.
Business next door to me had a 78 350. That truck hauled steel in the bed and a trailer all summer and plowed all winter. It was a beast before NY salt did it in.
Thank you to the family and thank you Dylan for sharing this. We hear back stories often but we rarely get to hear the story from the folks that loved a car or truck so much that they kept it near and dear to their heart, a part of the family. This video is a keeper, one that should never be forgotten. Again, TY all to those involved.
Love them…my dad had one as a kid…use to sit on his knee and drive it…I just rescued a 79 F150 4x4 4 speed sitting over 20 years…fired it up after some tinkering and parked her in the barn ❤
Imo, your best video yet! I'm biased though. I'm a Ford guy, and this truck is the same year as mine! Haven't finished watching yet, but if that temp gauge was at half, that's hot. These trucks typically don't run much past the N in normal. 351Ms have a bad rep. Mainly because they wipe main bearings. Before I swapped in my 460, the M that was in it wasn't a race car by any means. But it had plenty of torque for a worn out and neglected motor. That's a beautiful and sought after truck. Factory ac, race track trim, that's an awesome truck and so glad to see it being preserved!
Definitely one of my favourite videos of yours Dylan, and I’ve been watching for a long time now. Something about having the family interviews interspersed adds so much to the content. Long may she run.
Always wanted an '77 F250 (first year or front disc brakes) 4wd 4 speed. Swap in a MOPAR big block since BOTH trucks used a NP 435 trans. I have a Dodge NP 435 for a divorced transfer case already. I think Ford made THE BEST '70s truck, I just don't like their gas engines, EXCEPT for the 300 SIX!!!
Great video. It's so cool to just see someone keep a vehicle for so long especially when it's not needed as a daily driver. Keep finding these treasures, both the vehicles and the people.
Awesome Truck Had a 1977 like that with the same engine 351, even had the gun racks on the back window. Brings back some great Memories for sure. Enjoyed the story that the family shared about the truck. That’s what it’s all about family and memories ! Thanks for sharing ! Keep,up,the great work !
Really love this video. I had a 78 F250 2 wheel drive limited slip rear end. Had a 351M in it put 325,000 miles on it before I sold it. Still saw it on the road in 2010.
A lot of people talk trash about the 351 400 modified because they don't hold good oil pressure but I love em they run forever the blocks were cast with tons of zinc in the casting I have em in tbirds as well as f150 and broncos those motors were great engines
Hate to admit it but I married a girl in the early 80's because her daddy let me drive his '78 F-150 Explorer 4x4 to deer hunt on his land. I fell in love, with that truck! Ford man with a dog in the back ever since. Thank you for making this video.
I always wished my dad kept his old 79 f150 that he had the name put on the bug shield. "MEAN MUDDER FUDDER" stick shift 300. He would out mud everyone in highschool and pull people out of ditches in the winter with his buddy that is still his best friend. This was a great video and reminded me of stories my dad and his friend told me guesting up!
The format of this video is awesome. The way you work on it a bit and then insert a clip of the history of the truck is great. I know it's not every day that you come across a revival with so much history, but this content is remarkable. I don't give out likes lightly, but this absolutely deserves one. Keep the content coming.
Man, I just finished the video. I'd forgotten I had to stop about a third of the way through. What a fantastic truck. I immediately got online and ordered a few parts for my 1973 highboy. Needs some U-joints and I'm just gonna give it a little extra love. What a great family. I don't know what it is about these old Ford's but they really become part of the family. Like I said my dad and my grandpa had em and some of my best memories are in those trucks. I was brought home from the hospital when I was born in my grandpa's 77. Mom, grandpa and I rode up front and dad and grandma sat in the bed.
73-79 Dent side fords are just the best looking trucks ever
They’re certainly high up on my list.
Your Grand Parent in-laws are a reflection of a better world, respectful, humble and modest, reminds me of my father, would wear a suit and tie just to go to the shops. When this generation finally departs the world will be a poorer place without them.
One of the best years of Ford trucks
73 to 79 fords were always the go-to for me. I’ve had probably 40 of them over the years. I didn’t always drive them, but when it came to farming I may have had 4 or 5 in the field at any given time.
Know what? I like that Harold put on a suit for this. Also: restomodding a '78 F100 right now

I don't normally comment, but this was an awesome video! Thank you Dylan and family! God Bless & take care.

I’m a Chevy man but I would definitely own that body style of F-150.
Great to hear the families stories as we progress through the restoration…
Very well presented
Loved the combo of documentary style interview and wrenching on the truck. Excellent editing and story telling - this was really good - congrats on the truck and family experience.
Love you are repping another channels merch. SleeperDude is a great channel too.
That truck did some serious work, now it deserves a full restoration and to be pampered.
Wow, Dylan, I really truly hope that this truck stays in the family and doesn't get sold to a different family. It should stay in the family until it cannot work anymore and it has to be retired forever. Because this truck has such a cool story. And I hope the story keeps going.

We had a 79 when I was a kid. It was long bed 4wd with a 400 sbf with a 4 speed standard tranny. I loved that truck. We took it everywhere!
Adding in the owners recollections was the best touch I've seen in a long while! What a great idea for aa Run and Drive video.
My Dad bought a new 1978 ford f 150, I took my driver's test in it. Fantastic truck. I'd love to have one just like it
The ford 4x4 from 1967 to 79 were a solid truck. I have owned over a dozen and still have my 69 f250 .
One of the last truck types you could open boath doors and clean it out with a hose. Now that's a proper feature.
That old truck looks very nice.. It is also nice to see you include your wife in your adventures.
Had a 77 351 win. Tough truck, problems like them all. Just got to take care of them. Live the video, blessings to you all.
That was a heart warming episode, thanks Dylan
