    Transitioning from back to front and front to back, spins, and improving at skating backwards.

    I've very recently started skating and find it hard to even stay upright - getting better every practice though.
    My next moves to master are bubbles (did my first one yesterday!), stopping correctly and transitions. Love your videos!

    I am learning transitions right now as well as getting my endurance back up. I used to trail skate for hours daily in the summer up till November when my first pair of skates broke. I finally got a new pair a little over a week ago and I’ve been trying to get back into it by skating nearly everyday to my local park

      Me too, Juls. This weekend we skated all day two days in a row and I was so sore and tired haha. I usually can only make trips to the park on the weekends, but I try to make the most of it when we do go! Hopefully with the nicer weather soon we'll be able to get out more. Lately it's been pouring rain here! Sorry your boots broke, glad you're able to get back at it! Sounds like you're ON IT! :)

    I just started skating yesterday (my skates finally arrived!) and I've been binging skating videos for weeks. I never learned how to skate when I was super little so I'm struggling to even move forward (without doing the choppy penguin walk) but I'm super excited and I really want to learn and progress! I want to be able to confidently and smoothly skate forward and work on my forward bubbles! My sister just got inlines so we go out together in the afternoons :)

      YES! That's awesome, I actually did that too when I had to learn those for an IGORS street game I played once. I got them too ;) It's so handy having that little bit of reassurance until you feel more comfy/confident with it. You're gonna get it!

    • @simon_slays55

      Ah thank you! I use Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation, it's pretty inexpensive ($12 at Ulta, lasts a long time), cruelty-free, and has 41 shades. I don't use concealer, I just apply that with a foundation brush. I'd recommend their Fast Base Stick Foundation (it's thick & creamy full coverage, $9 for a lot of product- I pat it over any blemishes when I have a hormonal breakout).

    I’m trying to transition from back to front. I don’t know why but it’s just not happening. I typically just do a toe stop pivot to spin myself back around, but that involves a pause and I’d rather just keep the movement going. God, I’m tired and I feel like that’s worded poorly, haha!

  • @lydia6147
    @lydia6147 3 года назад +4

    These tips are super helpful, thank you! 💕 I'm learning emergency stops (turnaround toe stops) and I made my first real progress 2 days ago! I decided to face my fear of pivoting/swivelling, and turns out it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! It's just getting over that fear, as I want to be able to do an emergency stop when I'm scared, not be too scared to do it in an emergency, if that makes sense 😂

    • @simon_slays55
      @simon_slays55  3 года назад +2

    Can you do a video about how to stop on skates?

    • @simon_slays55
      @simon_slays55  3 года назад

      Yes! Any specific type of stop you're interested in?
      Here's a few I can do: Plow, One Foot Plow, T-Stop, Turnaround, Hockey Stop
      At 5:30 of this video I teach a drill that helps with building up to learn how to do T-Stops (TicTacs) ruclips.net/video/GDLpTme3i_A/видео.html
      And at 8:30 of this video I breakdown how to T-Stop for slowing down (for when you're not going super fast, a plow stop or turn around toe stop is better for that!) ruclips.net/video/ehILLtDar0w/видео.html
      Hope this helps in the meantime and I'll get to filming a tutorial on how to stop! Thanks for your request :D
