Hey, my name is Jasmine and I'm a 34 y/o beginner in Brooklyn. I started skating because a guy that I worked with would go skating at a school gymnasium in Brooklyn once a week. Everyone looked so free and effortless and the videos I saw were mostly populated by Black jam skaters of ranging ages, and as a bi-racial Black woman, I felt really drawn to the culture. Also, my postponed wedding is at a summer camp and there is a skating rink there, and I think it'd be so cool to be able to skate at the wedding. I got my skates just under a week ago, and I'm taking it kinda slow as I'm a bit nervous.

I find some popular skater tutorials to be kind of condescending and clique-y. So you and your content is a huge breath of fresh air, along with how relatable you are. It's almost kind of strange to see this mainstream whitewashed "revival" on social media, where people do the same dance moves on a boardwalk with their blemish free lollys and go absolutely viral. Meanwhile, you keep it real! $100 for a plate? No thanks lol.

I just got my first skates last week after about a month or two of trying to get a pair, any pair at this point lol I’ve always loved to roller blade when I was younger then when going to a skating rink for my nieces bday I was like man I gotta get back into this and then the pandemic happened. After being inside for so long I of course happened across a video of anaocto and other skaters and just seeing the freeness of skating, I felt like I needed something like that in my life and learn something new like quads. I’m happy to start this journey and fall until I get to that point. Anywho, love your videos and keep them coming!

Just bought my new Moxi Lolly skates in Floss, wrist guards, grabbed my bike helmet and hit the streets after a 2 hr rink skate Saturday night. I am not where I once was as a young fearless skater. One head knock reminded me to wear my helmet! One hand fall, I bought wrist guards and started to search for How to best fall videos! 🤗 Third fall, my stopper came clean off in a C turn, a lesson to check the tightness of bolts on new skates!! 🙄🤭 I am absolutely loving the videos available online that I never had before, am so eager to learn again and my passion is just growing, so excited!! Finally able to go our and skate as my fiance long board besides me!
I am somewhat capable of skating when on rollerblades, but I just bought a pair of rollerskates for the first time in my life and man they are tricky! I need to learn a lot, since I feel that many things that I used to do with rollerblades are different when wearing quads (for instance, feet position when doing a T stop). I also find it very difficult to turn, so well... I gotta practice a lot! I am so excited and ready to practice every single day :D
I've been thinking about starting a hobby recently and skating has been really pulling me in. It seems so empowering and calming and exciting all at the same time! I'm actually getting emotional thinking about it!

I've wanted to skate for the past 4 years. I watched hours and hours of youtube videos, but made every financial excuse to actually purchase them for myself. My husband finally convinced me to bite the bullet and get them. I had never skated before, even as a child, so I am absolute basic square one. But that's okay! Yesterday was my first day and I am very excited to try something new! As of right now I don't have interest in park skating or tricks. I mainly want to just cruise around outside 😊

Just ordered skates and can't wait to for them to arrive! I'm 41 and I used to inline skate on campus of the University of Miami way back when (1997!!) I attended there. I've gone to a local rink and wore quads for first time since I was like 10 lol. Didn't fall so I felt pretty good! Thank you for the info. Still learning about the skates and wheels and things. Just ordered my protective gear because I took some nasty spills on rollerblades and was ALWAYS thankful for having wrist guards!

I've always wanted to get in shape but I hate traditional workouts, so when I first saw videos of rollerskaters, I knew this would be a great way to get active. I also have problems dealing with stress, so I felt that taking up rollerskating would be a great way to keep burnout away too. My skates should be getting here next month, so I'm super excited! I plan on doing mostly street and trail skating, but once I get more experienced, I'd love to try out park skating too!

The reason why I wanted to start rollerskating was first seing Estrojen, and after, watching Bliss many many times ^^ Because of the pandemic, it's hard to do some sport I used to do, resorts are closed. In France, we have roller derby team but I've never seen someone in a sk8park with rollerskates( even if I know there are people doing it). My goal is to ride pumptracks, sk8park ( I don't know if I would but that's what I like), and chill with maybe some dance, who knows ;) THanks for your channel, I love how you do your videos! I mostly ride a road bike but I have always been attracted to the flowy, controlled riding, and grace of roller skating as well as the athleticism in roller derby and on vert ramps. I should say I'm not the most coordinated either so it was immediately rough. I got my skates about a week ago and slowly stepping out there and definitely taking some falls. I'm finding myself a bit slow to catch on, and though discouraging I'm not out yet. How have you all come back from fall after fall? And how do you remain so patient when the skills you want seem so far away? Its fun and new to me and I'm determined to get this down.

Grew up skating, roller blades were my life until 13. I purchased a cheap cheap cheap ($30) pair of quads 5 years ago and I hated them. I felt like I couldn't skate because they caught every tiny rock, bump, and twig. I gave them away and purchased a nice pair of inline skates at the beginning of this year. I fell back into love with skating and now I'm building myself a pair of vans skates and I'm working on learning to park skate on both my blades and quads. My entire life I wanted to be a derby skater, but I could never afford it. Now I'm 30 and I can afford it, I felt like I was too old to join. After I dove into my local skate community I'm so excited to hopefully join a team for the 2021 season. Your channel is so positive, uplifting, and informative . I used to Rollerblade around my neighborhood when I was younger and seeing TikToks of people skating and recently going rollerskating again, it reignited my interest. I also love the idea of it being a fun way for me to workout. I can push myself so much harder when I'm working out in a fun way, also while vibin' to music 🎶😎

At first I wanted a bike to start being active and so I tried looking for one near me and I kid you not, no stores had any bikes!! Only like 3 in each store(I went to like 15 bike stores that day) anyways I gave up trying to look for a bike and my second option was roller skates and wow a whole new world began for me Σ੧(❛□❛✿) it was magical I decided to do some research on everything ! I was, recently, inspired by watching roller skating at Rockefeller Center in NYC. So so cool. Booked a session two days from now! Haven't skated in 35 years!. Ran out and bought protective gear. I'm a little nervous about hard falls. Loved your video. I'm taking it slowly, yet seriously...but slowly.

👋 what a great place to meet fellow beginners. I'm Chan 33 from socal. I mostly ride a road bike but I have always been attracted to the flowy, controlled riding, and grace of roller skating as well as the athleticism in roller derby and on vert ramps. I should say I'm not the most coordinated either so it was immediately rough. I got my skates about a week ago and slowly stepping out there and definitely taking some falls. I'm finding myself a bit slow to catch on, and though discouraging I'm not out yet.
How have you all come back from fall after fall? And how do you remain so patient when the skills you want seem so far away? Its fun and new to me and I'm determined to get this down.

Hola! H! I am Nerea, 28 years old, new in the country, with no family or friends and having a hard time with my anxiety and depression. I come from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and now I'm living in Monrovia, Los Angeles. As part of my treatment, exercise is fundamental. I go to the gym to gain strength and also enjoy walking and dancing. A few hours ago today, I got the idea of rollerskating, to be outdoors and also doing something with my body. Before I buy the roller skates I thought I was a good idea to do some research about it, and found this channel and here I am. Happy to learn before even getting those pair of boots. I do not know where to skate, or where to get the boots, although I am very excited to be outdoors and hopefully make long-lasting friends. (I apologize for my spelling errors) . Thank you!

Grew up skating, roller blades were my life until 13. I purchased a cheap cheap cheap ($30) pair of quads 5 years ago and I hated them. I felt like I couldn't skate because they caught every tiny rock, bump, and twig. I gave them away and purchased a nice pair of inline skates at the beginning of this year. I fell back into love with skating and now I'm building myself a pair of vans skates and I'm working on learning to park skate on both my blades and quads. My entire life I wanted to be a derby skater, but I could never afford it. Now I'm 30 and I can afford it, I felt like I was too old to join. After I dove into my local skate community I'm so excited to hopefully join a team for the 2021 season. Your channel is so positive, uplifting, and informative . I found your channel through my local CIB chapter in Nashville.
