    • @luisluu
      @luisluu 3 года назад +1

      To each of their own, i think this is way behind in term of styling compared to Korean and European car. Genesis GV80 is way ahead of Lexus and Acura imo. This is like a slightly more beautified Honda. Not on the same league as the other luxury car.

    • @ZeerXX
      @ZeerXX 3 года назад +6

      @@luisluu I dont want garbage german cars and that grille on gv80 is a deal breaker. Plus I would never spend that kind of money on a Korean car. Acura has a conservative style with aggressive but not over the top design. And that interior is awesome. And the biggest seller is reliability and resale value. Can't wait to see what the type S will look like.

    • @luisluu
      @luisluu 3 года назад

      @@ZeerXX I hope Type S would change my mind. Agreed on the reliability of an Acura. But Korean cars nowadays have about the same reliability. They poked engineers from other brands so I'm not surprised. The GV80 car got so many awards from all over the world that you can't just ignore it. Most recently it's named top SUV in its class by Cars and Driver. I test drove both this and the GV80 and was blown away by the craftsmanship of the GV80. This car was just meh for the money you spend imho.

    • @ZeerXX

    Congrats to you Forrest on hoping the CarGuru team!! I had to do a double look when I saw the Thumbnail lol! Been following your reviews for a long time, you will be a great addition to their team.
    Now as far as the MDX...
    This miles ahead of the previous gen, although it’s sad to see the huge front armrest console go away. I’m sure they had to make room for all of the wiring for the new electrical components in that area.
    Also I’m not sure why Acura strangely omits certain things from the A-spec trim. I’m seriously trying to think of one competitor that doesn’t offer a 360° camera. Living in Florida I can take or leave the heated steering wheel, but I hope it offers ventilated seats.
    Otherwise a great vehicle. I don’t think the GLE, Aviator, X5, Q7 or GV80 have anything to worry about here, but this is great option or alternative for those considering a RX350, Grand Cherokee, XC90, Enclave, QX60, or XT6.

      I agree, the V6 is the base motor and it satifies at least 70% of the buyers. Give it 3-5 more years and i'm sure well see a de-tuned version of the 3.0 V6 turbo (found in the Type-S). If reliability is your main concern when you have to spend close 60 grand. This is the way to go.Previous MDX has transmission problem its the main reason they move up to a 10 speed automatic. One thing though a turbo engine is not as reliable as a normally aspirated one. This is not a sports car. Its an SUV. It's the reason Toyota is debating to put a turbo or not on the upcoming Lexus RX350. Longevity will be the issues. Its a gorgeous SUV. Well done Acura.

Agree on reliability of brand. I think a much more powerful BMW X3 M40i which handles like a taut sport sedan is a WAY better deal for the money. Perhaps not as much space, and no 3rd row, but still a very good sized, capable SUV that sounds AWESOME and blows most things away. Bit of a sleeper, but a LOT of technology, performance, handling and the utility for the money.

      New for 2022 model year. This car has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. First Acura to offer that. Have a great day.

    Great review, thank you very much! I know this is comparing apples to oranges, but just looking at storage space and legroom it appears that the Hyundai Santa Fe has virtually the same amount of cargo space and perhaps a touch more legroom. I realize the MDX has a 5 inch longer wheelbase, so I was expecting more room. You've probably looked at the Santa Fe; ignoring quality of the interior and perhaps build quality too, how do they stack up in your opinion? I can afford either one, that's not a problem, but I wouldn't mind saving $15,000 and just getting the Calligraphy version of the Santa Fe if I could live with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine (not a big fan, I would rather own a naturally aspirated six-cylinder any day of the week, so obviously that's a huge factor.)
    I just looked at a chart of dimensions, and the MDX is 4 inches wider, which would make it so much easier to fit three people in the second row. Another brilliant thing that Acura did on this vehicle was to allow a top trim version to have a second row bench seat! Now I haven't done an extensive study of other luxury brand three row crossovers, but all the mainstream brands with the exception of the Ford Explorer force you into captains chairs to get the top trim goodies. Thanks again.

    You can get a heated steering wheel on all trim but it’s only standard on the advanced. It’s a like $500 add on for all the other trims.

    Great package for the value. Looks great and drives much smaller than my wife’s Rx350. Test driven one today and put a deposit down for a new order. The only down side is the piano black, hate it.

    Great video...I believe it's priced well although missing a couple of key features which I'm sure Acura will recompense in the Type-S.
