    Thank you for share this,do you know if it is avalaible to Oculus Rift cv1?
    Can´t not understand why people don´t use shoes with Fanatec Pedals,I mean you can hurt your feet man.Racing shoes cheapest you can buy ;).
    Another thing is why Prosimu,don´t you know about NJmotion,they are cheapest and servo motor ios stronger than actuators and don´t make noise at all.I was testing it and no creepy sounds at all like your cockpit bro,I am saying this if you got a wife or neighbors...

    • @channelvr1293
      @channelvr1293  6 лет назад +2

      pretty sure you can get lenses for the rift too, and yep they make quite some noise .... but i'm far away from the wife (she is mostly in the kitchen)
      NJ motion ... well its only the seat that is moving not the whole car meaning steering wheel and pedals... if you just want the seat to move go for the NEXT LEVEL RACING PLATFORM.
      i'm sure there are others out there and i'm not saying Prosimu is the best but I love my 3DOF and i sometimes sit in my other standing still rig and boy what a difference.

    Yes! I did the upgrade and WOW! for me it was perfect. NOW. I just got my Valve Index headset and guess what! it has the same problem the HTC had before the update. Maybe the Gear lens will do the same for the Index headset. Anyone want to try?

      Donny, I am not sure if they will fit. they look real close but I am not brave enough to take apart the Valve Index. I am still using my Vive/Gear Pro headset. I do like the Index controllers they fit me better than the Vive and the Rift. I do think that I can tell that the 144 refresh is noticeable but the god shadow's are distracting. I also like the speakers and fit of the Index better than the Vive Pro. Maybe its impossible to get the BEST of the BEST.

      well at least i'm glad that someone believes me when i said the vive pro with lenses is the best out there even with newer devices coming out... not sure if the valve has the same lens kit....wil look up on the web if there is anything out there, that is if you are willing to sacrifice the valve's warranty... but if you do it carefully they wouldn't even notice when you put the old lenses back in there...

    1st. Never use a cutter or sort of sharp knifes to dismount the old lenses. Use a butter knife or a screwdriver. 2nd You did not clean anything inside the housing with the LEDs that's why You got dust on the screen You can see it at the left side 17:16
    3th. You forgot to mention the danger of dust and dirt coming into the housing. Otherwise You have to be sure to test it first at the white Steam VR Area before going into games. And You probably have to repeat this part several times before getting a clean screen.
    4th After the mod the distortion may have changed which can be corrected with a lighthouse config update. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is to mention the warranty loss after this modification. I think You should mention that to everyone here. Because they blame You later for this which was not mentioned before.
    But what I can tell it blows everyone off. I did it a half Year ago and it's amazing.

      hmmm First this is not a official video ! this is me sharing a experience... what people do with their vive or anything else for that matter is their problem i'm not going to put disclaimers on my videos ...duh if they are too dumb to do it they shouldn't.... ps @ 6.55 i'm cleaning the lenses, and of camera i cleaned them with a special solution they use with camera lenses...
      and i cleaned the screens as well...yep there was some specs in the lens but one tap in the HDM and it was gone.....now everything is white clean as a whistle.
      and there is no distortion what so ever....if the lines run straight there is no need for any adjustment.. so sorry to disappoint you . I'm just having FUN ! and still am....

      Hey there. There is no official video. It's a mod by the VR Community. You're right. Everyone is responsible for their own doing with vive or anything but at least You showed some kind of tutorial even if not mentioned. Its an open video so people could be interessted in already. As You describe in Channelinfo "Hope to keep You informed in everything" Sorry didn't see the cleaning but I updated my comment. How ever the distortion is relative and destracts different peopIe with different IPD messures. Just because You can't see it does not mean others also can't. I don't judge Your doing I just wanted to tell You that this mod is not for everyone and You should show and tell more about this mod or have a disclaimer. Keep VR alive! Hank

    Hi and really appreciate the video !
    I know this is a very old post but what I was a bit worried about in performing this upgrade was that with the original vive and one of the main reasons I bought it over any other headset at the time was because of its better field of view especially as you could make the faceplate thinner allowing even more of an increase as you could get your eyes closer to the lenses so wondering as the gear lenses seem smaller and because of the 3D plastic insert making the screen distance even further - would you have to sacrifice fov then ? Cheers

    • @channelvr1293
      @channelvr1293  3 года назад

      hi there, yep there is always a sacrifice in FOV but i compensated that with a very thin faceplate and i have to say its more then worth it . You can use these lenses with the vive and the pro version. Works perfect for me. ;-) I got the Pro 2 now and have to say these fresnel lenses again are awefull.

    • @paulnicolas172
      @paulnicolas172 3 года назад

      Channel VR Wasn’t expecting the reply - thanks again . So just to reconfirm I have my vive with the reduced faceplate thickness mod and the fov increase as a result so if I use these new lenses with the 3D printed plastic inserts there will be no decrease in fov right ? Appreciate this as it’ll cost over £20 to buy these . Just though with the increased height of the inserts you wouldn’t have been able to get your eyes as close to the screen as you could of with the original lenses ? Thanks again

    Ok, just installed them and tested... Sharp area definitely much higher, so it does not bother anymore... BUT: contrary to what it is advertised you definitely lose some of the FOV. But for me the trade of is ok. I'd rather have the clearer image.

    • @channelvr1293
      @channelvr1293  6 лет назад

    • @MarcosSetim
      @MarcosSetim 6 лет назад

      Marcel, you are right. The FOV is dramatically affected I bought the new lens mainly because this review, however I was not taking account the FOV reduction. The quality is amazing, but the FOV is not good. Channel, would be very informative if you do a new video talking about FOV difference, I really didn't find any one talking about that, however it's an important aspect.

    • @channelvr1293
      @channelvr1293  6 лет назад

      i think i can make the FOV better by printing other rings . like i said in my video they protrude outwards if they would go inwards it should solve the FOV.
      but a easy fix is a thinner headband. For me FOV is not a problem because i use the HTC mainly for simracing and well if you wear a helmet like in real life this is just about the FOV you get from this.

  • @philipredlund961

    How is the glare effect with these lenses? From what I can see they don't seem to have an antireflective coating, and the only lenses I can see that come with an antireflective coating - which is a must for any type of lens (I used to sell spectacles haha) are only prescription lenses that you put on top of the current lenses... Do you know if there is a reason behind this? I can't believe they didn't even change the lenses for such expensive tech as the HTC Vive pro.
    Anyway, very informative and helpful video! :) I will look into replacing my Pro lenses but don't know if it's worth it without proper lens protection.

    • @channelvr1293
      @channelvr1293  6 лет назад

      nope no antireflective coating but dont really think you need that ...i wear lenses and glasses... and this upgrade was like having prescription glasses after having seen bad for life...LOL i'm not going back.... hey even if you dont agree the only thing you have lost will be 35 $ you can always put the old lenses back in .....no problem.
      There is no reflection on the lens from my face side if everything is dark...

      @@channelvr1293 It has nothing to do with the FOV. The new lenses are heavily curved. The old lenses were not. So the picture, which is projected through the new lenses, is also (more) curved now. This is what they call the "barrel distortion" and the Vive needs to be adjusted.
      It is a bit difficult to describe. Maybe you don't notice it, because it has little impact in the game(s) you play primarily. It should be very noticable in the SteamVR lobby though, the room you are in by default if you just start up SteamVR.
      The new lenses (from Samsung GearVR RM323) and adapters (from Thingiverse) are actually all the same, so there are no "good" or "bad" adapters (if printed correctly). Oh and one of my friends is a well know eye surgeon and he tells me the lenses ar perfect . You know what is the most important in VR..... your IPD this can make or break your VR experience better then measuring it yourself people should go to a optician for correct measurement. IPD is horizontal but vertical measurement is just as important that's why my video's from inside the HMD suck.... because its important to but the camera (or your eye for that matter) smack in the middle of your lens to get the best results.

      @@nuclearping idf you see distortion is down to where your eyes sit in proximity to the lens. fresnel lenses dont have this problem. you could hold the headset in your had t arms length away and what you see through the lens is undistorted. vs these lenses you have to have your eyes be in the right plce. for some people that may be where their eyes naturally sit.

    Thank you SO MUCH for solving my problem with the replacement Gear lenses: I had, indeed, put them in "upside down" because that seemed to be the natural way. The result was an intense barrel effect. When you said they should be placed to face closer to the eyes, rather than farther away, that made me realize I'd done the same thing that you first did. Thing about this Gear VR lenses mod it seems like I see alot of black to the right and left compared to the vive lenses. Kind of dont feel as if I am in VR anymore . I dont remember it feeling like I was looking thru 2 small holes while playing. Maybe I didn't notice it before. When I focus the headset outward it gets way worse. I did the barrel distortion fix but I dont think that has anything to do with what I am talking about.
    Anyone else experience that?
    I understand the lenses are alot smaller but didn't expect to see so much black on the outsides of the image. If I move the IPD way out it helps because it moves the lenses outward but it just makes it blurry because my eyes arent that far apart.

I saw a post on reddit(1. www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/86uwsf/gearvr_to_vive_lens_adapters/?st=jg0a1omp&sh=5cbb0850 2. www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/86uwsf/gearvr_to_vive_lens_adapters/dwdigxa/) They mention about the 'pre-lens distortion algorithm'. It's like a file change by PC. However, I didn't see your video have cover this process. So, could you tell me did you miss that process or just because this lens gear you placed on HMD which doesn't need the process of 'pre-lens distortion algorithm'?
