Just found out that Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal was meant to be the last additions in the series. No wonder why it sounds so emotional and heartwarming at the same time.
This...this just makes me want to cry. Rewind back to early years of college when I would play this under my covers at night. It was like my safe refuge when I didn't feel good. So many feelings and emotions go through me as I think about those times. The people I used to talk to, how I would go about my daily life, etc. And the strangest part of it all is that I can't explain what I'm feeling to anyone since I don't understand it. You're memories are one heck of a thing bro. :)

All those car rides as a kid on the way back and fourth from the hospital. The only thing I had to cheer my up was my gameboy. I'll never forget the peace it brought me
yeah, a lot of thought i reckon was put into 0:20 onwards . beautiful arpeggio around there, and the ensuing final section sounded very ‘farewell-ish’, which is one of my favourite melodic types
Everything in Gold, Silver & Crystal is rich from a composition standpoint. Future games have prettier soundfonts and arrangements, but few do what GSC did purely from a melody and harmony standpoint.
If i recall go ichinose is the guy who did it (and to be honest sound like his work, with a lot of pop/fuse influence and chromatism to add that bittersweet spice). Guy was the main composer for this and 3rd gen (also another ost that is bonkers good)
No game from my childhood i replay has the power to get me to that time as pokemon silver, even playing it's music on my guitar is like i just used a time machine and i'm back to 2000 playing it on my gameboy at the beach with my friends.

After having given all the other surf themes throughout the series a listen, this one really just feels like its perfect. I don't think another version of this song can compare, even the HGSS remake. There's just something about the chiptune in the song that invokes this image, like being in an episode of pokemon riding Lapras throughout warm, bright blue oceans, knowing that there's a world of adventure out there. It has energy, but it doesn't feel like its all over the place. I think that if I ranked every song in the entire franchise, this would probably be in my top 5 if not my number 1.
0:35 is insane , I only heard it for the first time recently . It happened while I was surfing except I was not moving around just standing in one place for some reason, I was maybe looking at my pack items or looking at my phone, out of no where I started hearing a part of the surf music I had never heard before
No matter how tough or angry I want to feel, music like this has 100% armor penetration and deals psychic damage from The nostalgia I feel. I'm pretty happy that we live in a time that we all grew up with no real way to talk about this and relate except for the people close to us but we can come together in a comment section. No politics, no social nonsense, just everybody reminiscing of a simpler time and respecting the power that this music held over us even though it was 8-bit clicks and whistles
There is definitely something inherently and painfully nostalgic about this track. I grew up playing HeartGold and still feel more nostalgia hearing this than the HGSS surf theme. I saw a video about how cartoon outros can feel empty and unsettling because they have fewer instruments than other tracks and some notes sound misplaced or amelodic, and I think there's a similar thing happening with this track. I'm glad there are plenty of people here who agree that the GSC surf theme sounds abnormally nostalgic and emotional.
This is exactly why i say although some music has been made with politics in mind, we don't need to always see music through this lens, because it's diminishing the real power of it. I mean, i might disagree in a bunch of things with ppl from this comment section, but we all are here for the same reason that is far more transcendental, to feel the power of go ichinose's work
Arguably the most nostalgic pokemon theme. Never forget surfing to "see how far this water goes" only to find that Kanto was in the game too. Still one of the top 3 gaming moments from the 27 years I've been playing games.
The last third is so triumphant sounding, and oozes the coming of age theme the game carries, what a brilliant composition. Great use of the sterio audio as well

All you literally have to do is pry out the old battery and replace it with a CR2025 or CR2032 battery :) If the metal clip holding it in place is too loose just use some basic non-conductive tape to hold it in place. You can do a really sloppy job and it will still work haha, as long as you dont snap the little metal clip.
gold/silver are my favorite pokemon versions. they give you soo much to do, from introducing 2 types, 100 pokemon, making new pokeballs, big differences between night and day, decorating your room, legendaries to find randomly, time machine with red/blue, fighting with red with his level 70-80 pokemon for a challenge, AND it lets you travel to kanto to re-visit there. Oh, and with the pokedex search function with the slowpoke is awesome too. I REALLY hope they do a remake like fire/leaf.
This was without doubt the best video game I have ever played in my entire life, so much fun, so many memories playing it with my brothers and friends and god the nostalgia! :'(
Definitely one of the most rewarding, fun, addicting, bit games ever in history. Non stop adventuring, leveling up, getting new abilities… seriously an honor to have played those Pokémon games when gaming was in that format, even though, the creators of those games would consider it an honor that we played their games and value those memories. I think the gen 2 games have the best music design of any games, i love how they used the limitations of the gameboy to their advantage, gen 1 music is iconic, but gen 2 music is so much more

Honestly Pokemon Silver is my favourite Pokémon game. I spent so many hours on it as a kid. First time I levelled up a start pokemon (tortodile) to level 100 with just battling, no rare candy. One of the best games in my youth.

I actually had to replace the internal battery in the cartridge that powers the clock cause eventually the battery will die and you cant save games anymore. But yeah mine still works too and its still the best pokemon game to date.

Takes me back. One of my last memories of this was playing this game on his porch as his house was about to get foreclosed on. We played this game on a rare rainy day here in May in So Cal.
