- Three Rivers Stadium is packed on opening day of the 1997 NFL season as the star-studded Dallas Cowboys come to town to square off against Kordell, The Bus, and the blue-collar Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pat Summerall and John Madden call the game for FOX. Enjoy! - Спорт
The 97 season went down the toilet so quickly, but this was one of the few highlights of the season.
RIP Pat & John
The only time the Cowboys kicked off a season in August
I appreciate this Ryan! This is one from the 90s that I didn’t have recorded and so I had only watched it the one time. That 1997 season was such an odd season but at least they beat the Steelers to start things off.
YAY! Been waiting for this game! I’ve been watching several week 1 Cowboys games and this was the only one that was missing. One of the only highlights of Dallas’ disappointing season in ’97. Thanks for the upload 🏈
I remember this game. Was hoping the Steelers would’ve put up a better fight after the Super Bowl loss two years before.. anyway, thanks for the game Ryan.
I Remember This Beat Down Cowboys Gave Steelers Still Got It On📼📺🏈💯
Remember this game like it was yesterday in the later years of elementary school thought this was going to be the start to a good season,
Instead it was one of the lone bright spots in a disaster of a season good memories Ryan#cowboysnation
As a LIFELONG COWBOYS FAN (since 1974), this game was "DIFFERENT" for me.
It gave a lot of Cowboys fans "HOPE" that they still had "IT", but for me, I KNEW the "RUN" WAS OVER.
It was the year before (1996) when the NFL gave the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, the two new expansion teams, advantages they never gave other expansion teams before, and they both were able to build GOOD / GREAT teams very quickly.
Dallas had come off their 1995 Super Bowl WIN over the Pittsburgh Steelers FINALLY beating them in a Super Bowl to make up for the TWO Super LOSSES in the '70s (Dallas still owes the Steelers one).
I thought Dallas still had a "SHOT" at another Super Bowl, but they LOSS to the Panthers in the PLAYOFFS.
It wasn't that they "LOST."
It was the "WAY" they LOST.
I KNEW IT WAS OVER.
Incidentally, they basically haven't been seen from since.
Unlike most people or fans, 1996 WAS THE "LAST TIME" I thought Dallas had a "LEGITIMATE SHOT."
Although I do think the current team is "CLOSE."
What do you mean? They only lost that panther game cause Irvin got hurt the first quarter.... Then 98 when aikmans came back they started whooping everyone but minn ass got cocky and overlooked arizona... Then 99 they started 3-0 and Irvin again went down....Irvin don't go down cowboys make another run. Everything relied on the triplets being together and only when they were apart did they fall.
@@dylanandrich1949Yeah, they looked good in ’99 until Irvin got hurt. It all quickly went downhill after that…
great job Ryan!
One of these teams hosted the conference championship game. The other finished 6-10. It’s amazing how little the first game means in the grand scheme of things.
This looked like prime 92 Cowboys right here! For a game at least. Steelers were good that year.
this is one of many examples of week one results not necissarly being a good indicator of the rest of the year
Anytime I hear someone say that, I always think of the 2001 Carolina Panthers. In week one, they beat a Vikings team that was loaded with offensive weapons and had just appeared in the previous season’s NFC Championship game. Carolina beat them, and then proceeded to lose 15 straight games 🤣
The Cowboys' only August regular season game to date.
97 was the yr they bought back Alvin Harper .
Cowboys brought back Harper in 1999.
How long until 2001 cowboys Cardinals week 15?
I thought I'd already posted that. I'm sorry. I've already edited it, so I should be able to have it up by the end of the week.
I always associate this with the day Princess Diana died.
Anthony Miller was 🗑
Imagine getting beaten 37-7, at home, vs a 6-10 team, who has a terrible offense
Cowboys defense was good the whole 90s era
