That makes perfect sense. Also, maybe an old salesman rumor but when I was selling toys on the secondary market, it seemed true: when you pick up something even if you just put it back in the same place, buyers seem drawn to it like a magnet.
Hi Karen, what a find! So happy for you and Roger. You are one of my favorite RUclipsrs and I have to be more diligent about leaving comments. Your daughter, Melissa, lives very close to me and we frequent the same thrift stores! Small world! Not to mention, I grew up in Jersey and my parents who are long gone, retired to Lancaster county, Pennsylvania in 1991. I have very fond memories of antique shopping and thrifting with my mom and Miller's smorgasbord! Horst Auctions too.
Speaking of heavy to ship, I sold a 22 in, 25 pound cast iron pan! I thought I was going to have to refund the guy because I couldn't find the right box to ship it in! Selling it has made me very cautious of what I list for sure! Thank you again a million times for all you've taught me and continue to teach me! ❤️
The cheese cake looks delicious! I thought you said screenshot of recipe? I guess I didn't hear it correctly.. but looks great! Thanks for showing it. Yummy 😋
I second that the checking behind the battery cover! I purchased a Bose wave radio at my local thrift store and the battery was still in it and completely corroded. However... I only paid $5.00 for it and I use it in my office at work. So it was a win anyway!!!
I'm with you, I definitely would want to go back and pick up more of those medicine cabinets at $20 each. What a deal. That goes to show it pays to make connections when you are out shopping/thrifting.
Happy Easter Blessings Karen & Roger! Many lovely finds today incl the Dresdan Wreath disguised in red berry beads! Great 'Eagle Eye'! Going out to dinner paid off. I can only imagine finding a 'Medicine Cabinet' for $20.00. Your daughter will be well pleased. Let us know how Roger does flipping the one he purchased. Your 'cheesecake' looked creamy & delicious. Patty 💕🐇🐣 Alberta 🇨🇦🍁
Love the spaniel head umbrella. Do we love a good spaniel? Yes I do. French white is my corning ware of choice. Love them for gatherings, put them on the island and they look very good not just for cooking but for serving the food. Would love those, but I am too far away.
Change is due to People Stealing....they can't go to a normal spots...fast in and out//// I think//// Grocery stories do that as well. interesting huh? I asked a store clerk why they change the area's and that is what I was told! Makes sense for a retailer to make changes....keeps us alert too!
The little “doll chandelier “ you looked at would be super cute converted to SOLAR CHANDELIER and hung from shepherds hook. I make these and they are Awesome!
I found that Tasco slide projector on Amazon for $85. Did not know people listed vintage items there! I would pick it up because I was a science major in college and I think it would appeal to home schoolers as you mentioned. Or as a curiosity.
Karen your bittersweet story and information was very good and helpful! Bittersweet also grows here in Oklahoma, as it is native to the state! I took love bittersweet!
I think the person who put the red beads on that wreath did you a favor. It’s spectacular! Good for you. We had a Pottery Barn outlet very close to our house for several years and I loved it. They closed it a few months ago-very sad. I’m glad I have found your channel for vicarious enjoyment. The thrifting in our area is pretty dismal.
They change the floor plan so that most people have to search for items. Since many have the urge to grab something as they pass by, the stores rely on us buyers to grab more as we search for what we are looking for.
The Candle Holder needs a base, which likely looks like a large single candle holder, that would allow the upper holder to fit down in. They likely came apart and got separated in Goodwill’s back room and the 2 parts will arrive on the shelves separately, with 2 separate price tags.
I ❤ your vids. There are 3 ppl that their vids I must watch either daily or certain days. Thank you for always having great content and Roger too. Happy Easter 🐰 🐰🐰
We learn so much from watching Roger's and your picks. The Dresden wreath is unbelievable. Unbelievable that someone would donate it too! Happy Easter to you and yours.
My opinion is I believe alot of kids & grandkids have the job of cleaning out their parents & grandparents homes after they pass away and are sending things like the wreath and other valuable items to Goodwill & other thrift stores. They don't want it and they don't want to deal with it.
I am new to Ebay selling AND new to your channel. I feel I hit the MOTHERLOAD in finding you!!! I love it!!! I don't see that cheesecake recipe, however!? Stacy
Happy Easter, Karen and Roger! You had such great finds!!! I just love the green Kitchen Aid. Can’t believe someone let that go. Their loss, your gain! 💚💚💚
That baggie was in your basket when you got it. I'm not often jealous of your finds. Because they aren't necessarily things I would pick up. But I am extremely jealous of you today between the mixer and the wreath. I would definitely have picked up the slide viewer. The cheesecake was gorgeous. How much are you charging for the recipe since you didn't include it in the description? 😅
Those ugly red beads on the Dresden wreath is the reason nobody saw its value! Im so excited that you found it. I hope you had a wonderful & blessed Easter
Too funny... You're like where we be honey???? Always watch but when warm weather hits and busy outside don't leave many comments. Love & Blessings Always
In my younger days I was a basket weaver. I was very fortunate to have an elderly lady who was from Germany. She was kind, very patient and knowledgeable. She taught classes in a local high school in evenings at a very reasonable price. She taught us not only how to weave but how to dye reed & splint, provided local businesses that had great inventory. Just the cost of materials plus any extra details can be quite costly. Right now I’m looking at a basket I made 35-40 yrs ago. It has dyed splint and is round with daffodils encircling the entire basket. It has a decorated handle and contains my cat’s toys. The most important thing, you need to soak your basket at least once a year to retain moisture in the materials. My basket today would be worth at least $50. You would need a room with old fashioned laundry tub(s) to excel in this craft. 😊❤
May I ask how you will package Dresden wreath and where you find the right size box for something like that? Also, I don't see recipe. Where can I find it? That looks soooo yummy! Thank you, Karen, and congrats on awesome finds!!!
Funny you mentioned ikebana , I found a ikebana vase at Goodwill and because it had no price tag they would not sell it to me😩 it was beautiful Japanese inspired small blue and white with the flower frog inside. Not sure why GW would not want to make a sale 😡
About 35 years ago I also foraged in west central Illinois backroads for bittersweet and all kinds of wild flowers and rose hips to dry and make bouquets for Fall etc. I also baked Swedish baked goods to sell at craft sales etc. It really helped pay for my kid's college books etc. That Dresden wreath is spectacular!!
Hi Karen I've been watching you for about a year and have learned so much about thrifty that I never knew even in my 40+ years of thrifting. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I wondered why don't you hire someone to process your items a couple of days a week?
Wow. Can't believe you found yet another Dresden and to make matters better is that this one is all the holiday's. Well done Karen.
Most times, stores change so you have to walk around to find what you want and hopefully do impulse buying.
That makes perfect sense. Also, maybe an old salesman rumor but when I was selling toys on the secondary market, it seemed true: when you pick up something even if you just put it back in the same place, buyers seem drawn to it like a magnet.
That is correct. I worked in retail for many years , and that is one of the reasons for stores to change things around.
Would love to hear more about your work for Ralph Lauren (my fave) etc. That sounds so fun and glamorous!
Oh yes,we had the blue eye shadow! Love you guys!
Some child playing with a drum set!!! Or...is that Roger trying out the drums!!! Lol..💞💞🙃💞💞

The "dollhouse" Chandelier is the top of a candelabra. I think I saw the base on the shelf above. Someone probably unscrewed it.
That planter would work for succulents too!
oh I love that you're wearing your new shirt!
Oooh it's so cute you've got the T-shirt on!🤩💕
Hello guys, love watching you two thrift.its always an adventure.. I would love to thrift in your thrift stores. Good finds.

Enjoyed the shopping. Houndstooth is a huge sale in the state of "Alabama" Football.

Only problem with getting them all, is not giving someone else the opportunity if such a value that needs it🥰
Not true, the sale started days ago. It’s available to anyone who makes it their business to search for sales
