soooo much awesomeness! I have an ultratech that I love. I carry it quite often even though it is illegal where I live. I want a Microtech combat troodon too since a Marfione Custom is outta my price range.
A thing of beauty. Best blade I’ve ever seen on an OTF. The brushed aluminum and blues Ti is a perfect accent to it. I’ve never seen one of these particular ones for sale...I now know why.
WOW ! Great buy buddy ! If I could afford it , I would have bought it without a doubt , that's one of the most beautiful Marfiones out there! Take care. Nick
Jim, I would love to see a video showing your whole collection... Just a quick scan of all your knives, mainly for the wow factor of seeing so many high class knives all in one place.Your a lucky guy, thanks for sharing....
Wow, what a great review Jim. After I saw this, I was lucky enough to get this knife with the mirrored blade with antique green hardware from PVK, which had just added it to their new knife section barely a day before my purchase . They only had two and after I got mine, their second was was gone in just hours after my purchase. Demand is heavy as you stated. This is my favorite edc thus far I have added to my collection. It is even more stunning in person than you can see in this great review.
"It really is fun to wow someone with something you own. I don't care what it is... your wife, your girlfriend..." I know you didn't mean it like that, but had a chuckle. GREAT KNIFE! Would love to own one!
I LOVE that Combat Troodon! I love the satin Al finish, but I think the only thing that could be improved would be shredded CF body. I have6 of the Combat Troodons in their matte camo finishes. 2x Desert (drop point and dagger - one fully plain edge/one fully serrated). 2x Jungle (drop point and tanto). 2x urban camo (tanto and plain edge dagger)... all in Elmax. Fun fact: Durring my 12 ears in Special Operations most of us would have a Combat Troodon in our off-hand main pocket, or somewhere on our non-dominant side in the PALS webbing. To keep out dust, blood, sticky stuff, salt water, etc out of the inner machinations, we would use some non-lubed condoms over the knife and under the clip. It adds tons of traction, easier to launch the blade with gloves or sweaty hands, and after you deploy it through the condom which keeps a seal around the blade. Even after retracting the blade, the condom will prevent any harmful ingress of debris. That blade is insane, I don't really like mirror or fine glossy finish, I prefer matte color palates, but this is an exception.
+seventhSabra That's some cool insight, thanks a lot for sharing! PLEASE hit up the comments section on my HALO V video... lotsa people saying that no one would use an OTF for any military practices for any reason. It would be nice to put them in their place :-)
lol, "it's fun to wow people with something you own. weather it's your knife, your car, your wife or your girlfriend..." oh dude that's not how the world works anymore. :) that's the sweetest automatic knife I've ever seen though. simply amazing how beautiful it is.
Every time I watch your vids or see your Instagram I always think the following. "what my fuck...holy shit...ridiculous..." Awesome collection dude thanks for always sharing!
My dear friend that’s not a knife it’s a work of art that is something that you come home to after a hard days work poor yourself a strong one break it out. Fondle it and groove on it, pop it a few times and by the time you get to do your third drink you might as well put that away before you take a finger off. It is Truly beautiful I would watch it like a hawk and then go to DH gate and buy yourself a clone so that you can carry that around instead and not worry, and they are a fraction of the price. Enjoy that Fine Blade Bro!!!!,!
SO MUCH MARFIONE!!!!! I CANT TAKE IT!!!!! ITS BEAUTIFUL...... I yelled this loudly as my eyes rolled into my sockets and I felt my muscles relax, knowing soon, I would have to change my pants....
That blade looks a lot like a Talon II recurve from around 1999. To me, its the nicest grind. I think Walter Brend collaborated with Tony back then on the mirror polished customs.
VERY NICE INDEED!!! I JUST LOVE MICROTECH KNIVES, MY FAVORITE BEING THE INTERCEPTOR COMBAT TRODOON SECOND THE SCARAB..I WAS ONCE THE GUY THAT SAID ID NEVER PAY MORE THAN $300 FOR A KNIVE...WELL ENDED UP WITH A CUSTOM INTERCEPTOR IN BRONZE AND IS MY HOLY GRAIL!
Insanely beautiful and menacing....but I disagree that you won't find better than a microtech... the G&G Hawk Deadlock is so far superior to any microtech in existence...far superior to any otf automatic on the planet for that matter. I was lucky enough to get one of batch 6 and it's other wordly perfection. BTW I'm subbed, you do great videos!
I believe a buddy of mine had a knife made from a maker in TX that had a swedge on it, and the maker said he could not sharpen it because it was not legal in TX. I think the knife laws there can be vague, sadly
These aren't much of a danger even if it were to open into you. I'm guessing these are similar to a benchmade otf. They are on a track and it they hit something it comes off the track so it doesn't damage the internals. All you need is a flick of the wrist or pull the blade and it will lock back onto the track.
i recently purchased an ultratech, by microtech, tan colored aluminum, with black dagger edge with partial serrations to match (nearly close) to my medford BOA-P, dagger, any worries i should have besides the usual like lent and dirt etc?, oh and i was curious what sized bit you need just in case my hardware gets loose for the ultratech??, thanks-Nick
@@JimSkeltonKnives thanks buddy me too I already started my hunt and have three firms looking and doing my own digging this weekend. Thx again seriously a sexy knife and that’s a first for me to say that about a knife haha. Cheers
I have not verified it with the various states, but I thought double-action knives were not considered automatics. At the closed state, the Troodon spring is not under tension. The Halo V would be automatic since it has a spring under tension. Perhaps, it will depend on the results of the cases that go to trial. The other issue I have to consider is that I am very near the Missouri state line and it is much more restrictive with knives. They are fine with my guns, but not with some of my knives.
You've created a strange subcategory in your own mind with that one LOL. No law states anything about a blade being under spring tension, or about being double action or single action. The laws deal with the deployment... spring action with a switch release. Whether the release slides or pushes doesn't even matter. Automatic is classified as a blade that releases by spring action with a switch release.
In Virginia, ALL blades are legal to open carry. No matter the blade, blade length, blade style, or action. Knives that are illegal to carry concealed, are switchblades, bowies, dirks, machetes, ballistic knives, and throwing stars. But, all knives in VA are leagal to open carry.
Hopefully it is a carbide tip on the glass breaker rather than ceramic as you stated; I'm not sure a 'ceramic ball' would prove very functional under that kind of impact and I can't see a designer making that kind of cosmetic decision, despite the fact that none of us are going to break windows or skulls with it. As always, thanks for the great videos.
Jim Skelton It is indeed your fault that I bought a top with a ceramic ball bearing. A budget one, but it manages the occasional 10 minute spin. I really look forward to the tops videos, but apparently many knife review consumers find them toxic ;). Thankfully, you do what you want.
Interesting tidbit about texas I believe that the law is still on the books that you cannot carry concealed pliers but you can carry a concealed gun. This law was on the books for people cutting fences.
rad knives are overpriced , they are well made but extremely inflated prices . Aren’t even worth a quarter what they ask. And I own individual knives that cost over 5k
jimmy jk332 I’ll assume that you’re just new to custom knives. While Marfione has a ton of dealers, only a couple would have gotten one like this. These are custom knives, not production knives. Also, I believe I did say that I got this from Monkey Edge, but that’s irrelevant since I bought the only one they ever had, and this was 2 years ago by now.
I'm looking at microtechs for my first OTF knife, but I want something a little larger, 3.4" blade length and something with a thicker grip because I have bigger hands. Any suggestions?

It's just what makes you happy at the moment. If you can afford it makes you happy and it's not going to make you or break you than pull the trigger. Nobody's guaranteed another second on this earth. Weigh your options plan and be a strategic as possible and every aspect of your life. That's it. Keep on keeping on.
I rode up to Asheville North Carolina one day with my Microtech Ultratech s/e. (production date 03/2015) serial number53494. It was a day to remember. I did not know that Tony was such a well known custom knife guy. For that matter I didn't know much about custom knife makers in general, at the time. I'm about to throw up....it's so amazingly beautiful it's unbelievable. Two of my favorite colors on one of my dream knives...
Goddamn Jim that's a beautiful work of art. Thanks for sharing

When you fired the knife the first time my eyes got sucked into the screen. What a beautiful blade
soooo much awesomeness! I have an ultratech that I love. I carry it quite often even though it is illegal where I live. I want a Microtech combat troodon too since a Marfione Custom is outta my price range.

Damn. That blade! The custom Halo5's are awesome, have a look at G&G Hawks new otf,the Deadlock. Their custom work is hi quality, as you probably know.

I know all OTFs have blade play, but does a Marfione Custom have less?
what is the name of this blade? I like the way it's shaped for like easy cutting purposes.
